Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva DOC 2016 dolce
Deep, dark yellow colour. Rich, almost opulent impressions of candied apricots, orange zest and traces of fine yellow flowers on the nose. Fabulously viscous texture on the palate, multi-layered, very concentrated flavour of candied fruit with a wonderfully polished sweetness. One of Italy's greatest Vin Santo with a long, persistent finish and made to last. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2016 Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva is an understated beauty, opening slowly. It entices with a whiff of saw dust and crushed toasted almond, giving way to dried apricot, nectarine and finally a dusting of cocoa. The Riserva flows across the palate more like nectar than wine, with a mix of sweet autumnal spice and peach preserves, all held together perfectly by brisk acidity. The 2016 is amazingly long, balanced and complex, leaving a staining of ground ginger and burnt sugar. Through it all, the mouth is left watering as nearly a minute goes by and hints of brown butter and sweet cinnamon carry on. Simply stated, this is among the absolute best Vin Santos I have ever had the pleasure of tasting." Vinous

Marsala Superiore Riserva DOC 1985 ambra semi secco · 0,75l in OWC
Aged in the cellars for over 25 years, this magnificent amber-style Riserva pours from the bottle with amber intensity. This rare Marsala offers tremendous intensity with a bouquet strong with maple syrup, roasted chestnuts, brown sugar, caramel, dried figs, porcini mushrooms and spicy tobacco. In the mouth, you can feel the alcohol content, but this warmth is wonderfully absorbed by the fleshy intensity and richness of the texture. This wine is a quarter of a century old, but thanks to all the ageless fruit, it hides its age very well. This is a rather atypical "wine", but one that offers a terrific insight into one of Sicily's most important wine traditions. SUPERIORE.DE

Brunello di Montalcino “Altero” DOCG 2012
A radiant bouquet of blackberries with a hint of leather in the background. Although it has a modern design, this wine from Montalcino is strongly attached to its homeland and gives the acidity typical of Montalcino's high altitudes the main role in its beguilingly generous taste. Attractive, smooth and wonderfully long-lasting! SUPERIORE.DE
"Nuances of red berries, violets and tobacco; compact structure with well integrated tannins, juice and perfectly integrated acidity, rich in finesse and with storage potential. It goes very well with game dishes." Vinum
"A pretty and ripe Brunello with lots of plum and cherry aromas. Full body, soft and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Some dustiness within the texture. Dense and enticing." James Suckling
"Youthful ruby. Deep nose of fruit with hints of oak. Ripe, rich cherry fruit with a zesty, tangy core. Real interest and great tactile finish. Still firmly tannic for the moment." Jancis Robinson
"Here's a richly concentrated expression from one of the highest sites in Montalcino. The wine shows excellent balance and suppleness. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Altero flaunts the best characteristics of the hot vintage including beautifully saturated color intensity, seamless aromas and good texture richness. On that last point, I feel that the mouthfeel has been positively impacted by oak tannins. Dark cherry and dried blackberry are followed by spice, tar, licorice and grilled rosemary or Mediterranean herb. The wine is youthful and tight but should obtain a more polished approach with a few more years of bottle aging." Wine Advocate

“Nardo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2011
Outstanding Nardo 2011: Dark and powerful, yet highly elegant aromas of wild cherries, spices, liquorice, cassis and leather with exceptional balance and purity. A radiant, cosmopolitan Italian. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2011 Nardo presents on the palate with super ripe dark cherries, smoke from rapeseed berries, tobacco, incense and new leather. Dark and lush, the 2011 has stunning textural depth and richness. harvestshould expect a full-bodied, resonant and immensely rich red wine. The Nardois is 50% Montepulciano, 45% Sangiovese and 5% Marsellan, a blend that works particularly well here." VINOUS
"The 2011 Nardo reveals unstoppable ambition. It maintains a level of positive momentum that is almost impossible to find outside that elite group that makes up the great icon wines of the world. Immediately likable and intriguing, Nardo is an ever-fluid and evolving expression that starts with dark fruit and segues to budding tertiary aromas of licorice and crushed mineral. This style is contemporary and approachable, but the wine's complexity is not to be underestimated. Every piece of this moving puzzle works to achieve unity." Wine Advocate
"Aromas of dark berries, walnuts and hot stones lead to a full body with a solid core of fruit and silky tannins. It is firm and very dense, but shows a very dense mid-palate." James Suckling

“Piante a Lapio” Fiano Campania IGT 2013 · in gift box
Piante a Lapio is a rich and complex white wine produced in small quantities (about 3,000 bottles per vintage) from the grapes of a single vineyard parcel of just under one hectare in the municipality of Boschi in Lapio (AV). It consists of 35-40 year old vines planted on stratified and complex calcareous soils with basaltic subsoil at an altitude of about 550 metres. The vineyard is protected at the back by a namesake forest, which contributes to the vineyard's special microclimatic conditions. Here, in the heart of Irpinia, white wines are produced with great freshness and good acidity levels, which, vinified with the necessary care, can age for over 20 years.
Deep, bright straw yellow. Rich and complex on the nose, interwoven with notes of spices, herbs, hazelnuts, citrus fruits, honey and salt. In the mouth it has a clear structure, complex, intense, refined and with great personality. Piante a Lapio is a full-bodied, long-lasting wine whose future development is already undoubtedly visible today (after sufficient aeration). SUPERIORE.DE
"Considering the ten years that the 2013 Piante a Lapio has rested in the winery before release, the vibrant yellow-gold color alone is stunning. Its aromatics impress even more, blending roasted almond and hazelnut with honeyed florals and crushed yellow apple. It smooths over the palate, weighty yet lifted and distinctly savory, with a slight tropical citrus profile complicated by depths of saline minerals and hints of rum raisin, yet not sweet by any scope of the imagination. The 2013 tapers off with tension, and young peach and dried apricot nuances stick around. The Piante a Lapio is a serious meditation wine, produced from 80-to-100-year-old Fiano vines and matured in a mix of chestnut and acacia casks for five years. It’s a stunning wine for the more adventurous palate." Vinous

“Tenuta Missoj” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2013 · in gift box
Tenuta Missoj is a small vineyard in Mizzole with just 3.5 hectares of vines and is owned by the Campagnola family. The vineyards extend at an altitude of 200 metres on a well-ventilated and exposed hill where the grapes can reach perfect and complete ripeness. The grapes for this Amarone Riserva come from single vineyards and the wine is aged for 24 months in new barriques made of Fleur de Quintessence oak in medium to lightly toasted Allier oak with very fine grain. Further ageing of the wine takes place in the bottle for another 12 months.
Deep ruby red colour with garnet reflections. Developed, fragrant, spicy bouquet with hints of ripe fruit, cherry and vanilla. Intense, soft and pervasive taste, fine tannin structure. Slight bitter almond note on the finish, typical of high-class Amarone, very long and with great potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dried blueberries, raspberries, citrus and tea leaves. Medium to full body, a subtle casing of foursquare tannins to surround ripe but agile berry fruit and a muscular finish. Drink from 2022." James Suckling

“San Floriano” Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG 2013
Brigaldara's Amarone Riserva is a wine born from the desire to interpret Valpolicella in its most original form. The strictly selected grapes that form its basis are chosen from the best vineyards in order to maximise the potential of the estate's own vineyards in Valpolicella.
Garnet red in colour, with aromas of preserved fruit, spices, sour cherries and hints of tobacco and cocoa. Brigaldara's Riserva is a large, concentrated "old-school" Amarone with a good dose of residual sugar and volatile acidity, which give the wine its unmistakable style and lend it plenty of complexity. This uncompromising and rich Amarone hits all the right notes: Mocha, old leather, smoke, tobacco and liquorice are just some of the exciting components of its long, personality-rich and distinctive finish. An energetic wine with a balance between fruit and power, which plays with its class and depth and has secured a place in the appellation's list of best wines thanks to its complex and deep tertiary flavours. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, shining, noble ruby red with a subtly brightening rim. Elegant wood on the nose, ripe berry fruit, dried tomato, comes in several waves, incense, cherries, raspberries, very complex. Very elegant on the palate, with notes of black tea, tightly woven tannins, lots of juiciness and fruit, extremely elegant Amarone with plenty of verve." Falstaff
"Very dark ruby in colour. Interesting, dense and lifted nose of peppery cherry, damson and plum, with a hint of pine and creaminess from what I suspect is oak. Smooth and well balanced. Almost defies its 16%. On the palate, it doesn't come across as bulky, and it has the right amount of supple tannins. A little warmth on the finish, but without the often distracting sweetness that this type of wine usually has." Jancis Robinson
"This wine gracefully combines taut, sculpted tannins with a tarry minerality and a detailed flavour profile of dried cherries, plum jam, tobacco and cocoa nibs. Medium-bodied and silky on the palate, with an orange peel acidity that cleanses the finish." Wine Spectator
"A delicious, liquid Riserva with beautiful dried fruit and nutty, cedar-like influences. Also floral notes and dried peel. Full and silky, with a residue of red, savoury tannin coming through at the end. Very pretty now, but it will age for a long time." James Suckling
"Aromas of black plum and spice cake rise from the glass of this rich and heady Amarone. As the wine progresses, notes of dark chocolate and espresso follow through to dried thyme and violet notes. The rounded and rich tannins provide a structured and straightforward finish, while on the palate the tart red and dried black fruits mingle with sweet spices, leading to an earthy finish." Wine Enthusiast
"The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva San Floriano smolders up from the glass with a smoky blend of dried black cherries, blood orange and grilled herbs. This is a perfect mixture of elegance and purity, with silken textures and polished red fruits flowing across a lively stream of acidity. It’s youthfully dense and powerful yet also restrained, finishing with a web of fine-grained tannin that clamps down hard as hints of licorice and sour orange slowly taper off. It will take a good deal of time for the 2013 to come fully into focus, but it will be worth the wait. In 2013, the Riserva hailed entirely from the Case Vecie vineyard." Vinous

“Campo Lusso” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 (BIO)
Campo Lusso, a Cabernet Sauvignon from the vineyard of the same name, is another Grand Cru from Petrolo. The small location covers only half a hectare under the tower of Galatrona. The natural terrace offers extremely favourable soil and climatic conditions. Only about 1,300 bottles of this spectacular drop can be produced per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"The full-bodied 2016 Campo Lusso is absolutely gorgeous. This is a dark and generous expression of Cabernet Sauvignon that is grounded and centered, but so intense all the while. The bouquet is layered and rich with dark fruit, spice, leather, tar and chocolate. Campo Lusso is a beautiful expression of this French grape from Tuscany. The tannins are velvety and impeccably integrated. First produced in 2004, this wine sees fruit sourced from an isolated vineyard spot located just under the Galatrona tower (at 500 meters above sea level). Farmers referred to this site as the "campo lusso," or luxury site, because of the ideal soil composition of rocky limestone. This vintage takes this beautiful wine a giant step forward in terms of general quality and elegance, and this is due in part to the advancing age of the vines." Wine Advocate

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2015
Piancornello's 2015 Riserva offers the classic Brunello bouquet, combining earthy elements of leather and potting soil with dark plum fruit. These equally sweet and savoury sides are skilfully interwoven, and the rich, concentrated fruit of the vintage helps to smooth out the full-bodied flavours. An action that is crowned with success, because as a result the Riserva presents itself with an impressive, enhanced overall intensity. The great interplay aptly reflects the beauty of Brunello. Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2012
Intensity, harmony and elegance - this is San Polos Brunello Riserva from the very good year 2012. Compact bouquet of ripe dark berries, inviting and clear. Very fruity on the palate, opens wide with polished tannin into a never-ending finale. SUPERIORE.DE
"A slim version for the vintage, this linear red displays cherry, strawberry, floral and spice aromas and flavors. Sweet fruit holds the center, with refined tannins following up on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"For the Riserva, a selection is made at harvest of the thinnest bunches with the smallest berries. It's a classy, polished example with a cherry and vanilla core offset by thyme, sous-bois and cedar notes. Layers of sturdy tannin provide a solid frame for the ripe fruit." Decanter
"Aromas of ripe plum, underbrush, eucalyptus and star anise emerge in the glass. Polished and firmly structured, the palate delivers fleshy black cherry, strawberry jam, licorice and tobacco set against a backbone of youthfully assertive fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast
"Dark red with some amber at the rim. Sweet red cherry, Asian herbs and woodsy underbrush on the nose. Enters rich and ripe, then slightly more angular and tart in the middle, offering red berry and cherry flavors that are less flinty and herbal than those of the 2013 Brunello from San Polo. Finishes with lipsmacking acidity and an austere quality. Really needs a few years in the cellar to round out. This will likely turn out to be a very good food wine." Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)
"This is a darkly saturated Sangiovese with a very etched and precise fruit profile. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva offers immediate aromas of black cherry liqueur and pressed blackberry. Those berry notes are followed by spice, cinnamon and toasted coffee. This Riserva hits the palate with direct force and precision. It does not show the jammy or cooked notes commonly found in Sangiovese made in this hot vintage." Wine Advocate
"Reserved and cool for this opulent vintage with red fruits and delicate herbal notes. This is a concentrated and deep wine with a ton of dry tannins. Great balance, too. I love the long finish with its minty freshness." James Suckling

Interesting bouquet of eucalyptus, rosemary and other garden herbs, underpinned by damp forest soil and a beautiful blackberry nose. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense and deep dark ruby red. Noble nose of fine wood spice, dark chocolate, blackberry, sage and ripe wild strawberries, balsamic. Dense and rich on the palate, spans a wide arc, dark and ripe fruit, multilayered." Falstaff
"An earthy, meaty version, this is nonetheless saturated with fruit, exhibiting plum, cherry, earth, leather, sanguine and saline flavors. Dense with tannins, this leaves a mouthcoating yet fresh impression on the finish." Wine Spectator
"A pretty blend of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc with dark berries, blueberries and hints of walnuts. Full body, firm tannins and a polished and caressing finish." James Suckling
"This is a terrific wine, both opulent and generous. The 2016 Maremma Toscana Tenuta Belguardo is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc that adopts a playfully rich and contemporary style with plenty of southern Tuscan sunshine locked deep within the dark ripeness and softness of the fruit. Vernaccia di Oristano Antico Gregori Riserva was not only named dessert wine of the year in Gambero Rosso 2021 (1976 vintage), but was also bottled in this 1979 vintage edition. As it was possible to bottle a little more this year than in other years, the usual assemblage of the best vintages of the last century was dispensed with this year. “Calcarole” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2011 · Late Release
For the first time, the winery presents a small amount of its matured Amarone flagship "Calcarole" from the very good 2011 vintage as a so-called "late release". Rich, dark, almost decadent bouquet that evokes memories of Christmas cake with brown sugar icing served with a cup of hot cocoa. It is velvety-smooth and full-bodied, yet perfectly balanced, with ripe black fruits mingling with exotic spices, mocha and violet flowers. After almost a minute, you can still taste notes of dark chocolate and a hint of bitter coffee. While the Calcarole shamelessly flaunts its extroverted character, it does so with class. The further five years of bottle ageing have done it more than good! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, brilliant ruby red. Elegant nose of ripe cherries with a fine scent of roses. Creamy attack on the palate with flattering play, expands nicely, pithy red fruit, presents itself very harmoniously until the final, firm pressure." Falstaff
"Deep ruby red with hints of amber. Red cherry, dark plums, botanical herbs and minerals on the seductive nose. Dense and very supple, with ripe red cherry, tobacco and sweet spice flavours that are precise, concentrated and layered. The finish is long and lively, offering lingering spicy nuances and a hint of faded rose petals. Just a hint of excessive alcohol lowers my score, but at 16% alcohol this olfactory sensation is virtually unavoidable. A stunning Amarone; if I'm not mistaken, this may be the best Calcarole I've ever tasted." Vinous

"The incredible spice, black-plum and bitter cocoa-powder nose of this Amarone rivets you to the spot. Stunning concentration and a breathtaking balance of fruit, tannin and some magic. Very long, silky finish." James Suckling
"The 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi shows huge intensity over a robust mouthfeel. I love that eucalyptus balsamic note that comes up at the top, rounded off by softer notes of chocolate and tobacco. The blend is 30% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and a 10% selection of Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella, Croatina and Forselina. Aging takes place in large Slavonian oak casks. This is a powerful, full-bodied wine with a knockout 17% alcohol punch that makes no apologies for its strength. It comes forward with pride and boastfulness." Wine Advocate

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2014 (BIO) late release · MAGNUM
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerosanloré 2014, which is now - in spring 2023 - being offered in small quantities with 5 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
Precise aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, lavender and violets. Silky and juicy on the palate, with a refined but very concentrated extract that almost crushes the taste buds, yet remains lively and not at all heavy, giving beautiful definition and lift to the red cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavours. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a beguiling perfume and extreme finesse; very Barolo-like. A beautiful, complex wine that shows the elegant side of Nero d'Avola that few producers are ever able to present. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2014 NeroSanloré has a more mature bouquet than the other contradas tasted next to it, yet that's not to say that it’s any less pleasurable. Dark soil tones, tobacco, brown spice, cherry and plum sauce fill the glass with each swirl. It is velvety in feel yet lifted in weight, with tart red berries and saline-minerals that give way to rosy inner florals. A sweet and sour twang keeps the mouth watering through the licorice-tinged finale, as subtle tannins pinch at the cheeks, which keeps me looking back to the glass for more." Vinous
"Complex nose of black plum, bitter chocolate, balsamic vinegar, candied orange and a slew of baking spices. After all this extravagance, you might expect a soft and lush wine, but this full-bodied red has a very solid core of healthy tannin and is decisively dry. Surprisingly crisp finish." James Suckling
"This wine shows medium dark concentration, a distinguishing trait of this vintage. The aromas have embraced elegant tertiary definition with dried fruit, dark plummy flavors, spice, earth and smoky tar. The wine is drinking beautifully right now and gives us valuable and encouraging insight to the aging ability of this popular indigenous grape from Sicily." Wine Advocate

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
Dark ruby red, in the Bouquet aromas of ripe, red fruits and a fine wood spice. Elegant, soft, complex and fresh, the taste is exuberant and very flattering. A masterpiece from the Basilicata! SUPERIORE.DE
"Here's another great vintage from Elena Fucci, the ascending star of a rising wine region in the deep south of Italy. The 2015 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo shows a dark garnet color and robust appearance. Very characteristic of this extreme territory, this is a dark and penetrating wine with etched mineral notes behind blackberry, plum and savory spice. This vintage presents an even darker quality of fruit. In the mouth, you get iron, blood and dark mineral nuances that are absolutely typical of these darkened volcanic soils." Wine Advocate
"Fresh and well-meshed, this is a medium- to full-bodied red, with creamy tannins and a rich note of smoke-tinged mineral underscoring the lovely range of ripe black cherry, dried thyme and fig cake flavors and hints of ground cumin and white pepper. This is round and finely balanced, with a long, lingering finish that echoes the spice and mineral detail." Wine Spectator
"Elena Fucci crafts one single wine. The piercing and focused Titolo exudes incense, violet, dark earth and black cherry. Volcanic soil translates with vibrant energy. Muscular rather than plump and built to last." Decanter

“Capitel Monte Olmi” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG 2011
Intense, bright colour, very clear scent of ripe cherries, a bit of plums, cloves and white pepper in the background. Grandiose fruit on the palate, much grippy tannin, long. An exciting, still quite young wine with enormous potential for many, many years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, sparkling ruby red. Concentrated and multi-layered nose of warm, ripe forest berries, blackcurrant, black elderberries, underlaid with fine sandalwood. Powerful with much tension on the palate, builds up in many layers, fruit, spice, densely woven and juicy tannin, ends with firm pressure, can still mature, is now already an experience." Falstaff
"Fully saturated red. Deep, rich aromas of balsamic cocoa, blackberry jam and aromatic herbs. Sweet and creamy in the mouth, with the depth and intensity of fresh dark fruit and balsamic flavors to support its oakiness. Rich and savory, this finishes with excellent energy and outstanding grip and length. The Capitel Monte Olmi always showcases a stronger balsamic note than Tedeschi’s entry level Amarone. " Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)
"Intriguing and aromatic on the nose, with lovely sage and incense character, here's a sleek, full-bodied red that reins in its power to a tightly-knit core of raspberry puree, Earl Grey tea leaf and rich, loamy earth flavors that linger on the long and fragrant finish." Wine Spectator
"If you like big Amarones, this one is big with a capital B. The most robust and powerful of the bunch, the 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi is also sophisticated and integrated, despite its huge alcohol content at 17%. I knew the alcohol was high, but I would have never guessed it was that high, and that speaks to the relative balance achieved here. It is sweet, robust and richly layered and textured in the mouth. This is a huge wine that will make you very happy, very fast. The blend is 30% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 30% Rondinella and a 10% mix of Oseleta, Negrara, Dindarella, Croatina and Forselina, which comes from the Monte Olmi vineyard in the Pedemonte hills. The grapes are dried for a lengthy four months. This is the estate's flagship label, and it became a Riserva starting with the 2009 vintage." Wine Advocate
"Very ripe morello cherries, dark plums, cigar box, kirsch and stemmy undertones, but also orange rind and plenty of floral elements. Full body, powerful and grainy tannins and a dense yet driven finish. Extremely pure fruit. This is always reserved and beautiful." James Suckling

“Binomio Collezione” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2017
The extremely successful "Binomio" joint venture between Fattoria La Valentina and Azienda Agricola Inama is entering a new round. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the La Valentina winery, a new wine was born, which is only produced in the best vintages and in limited small editions.
2017 was a very hot year and in some areas of the Binomio vineyard, the Montepulciano grapes were extremely concentrated. This gave rise to the idea of making a top selection of the grapes for the first time, because under the good shade of the foliage, they showed a particular flawlessness of flavours and promised an even more concise interpretation of the essence of Binomio. With patience and care, this small and exceptional portion of the fascinating grapes was then selected and the foundation stone was laid for the small "Binomio Collezione" series, which is only produced in the best years. With the first vintage 2017, 3,000 bottles are now available in the hand-picked specialised trade.
Deep, shimmering ruby red colour. Intense bouquet with heavy aromas of redcurrants and sour cherries, accompanied by hints of roasted almonds, gentian violets and a delicate spiciness. On the palate, the wine reveals all its complexity and opulence, framed by tightly woven, well-integrated tannins in a perfect balance between warmth and softness. A deep wine that only reveals itself with some aeration and is proof of the outstanding characteristics of the grape variety and terroir. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep, dark ruby red with an opaque centre. On the nose, preserved cherry, ripe plum, dark chocolate, a hint of nougat, grated wild berries, delicate sealing wax. Very dense on the palate with a creamy texture, almost oily, currently still with a lot of tannin, becomes slightly broad-meshed in the final and remains drying." Falstaff
"Dark and brooding, the 2017 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Binomio Collezione opens with hints of cedar and sweet spices complementing the crushed plums. It flows across the palate with silky textures and masses of ripe red and blue fruits, neatly balanced by a hint of citrus towards the end. Violet candy, lavender and mint can be found as the 2017 finishes powerful and fresh." Vinous
"Floral black fruits on the nose, with notes of black liquorice and pressed flowers. Full-bodied, round and silky on the palate, firm but not chewy, with liquorice fruit and grainy, fruity tannins. Balanced and long. Accessible now, but made to last. Best from 2025 onwards." James Suckling

Limitation of 1 articles per customerBarbaresco Bernadot DOCG 2014
This is a beautiful creation from a vintage that has presented some challenges to winemakers elsewhere in Italy and here in Piedmont. Barbaresco Bernadot with Treiso fruit shows a graceful, mid-weight approach to the 2014 vintage with red and purple fruits that are crisp and fresh. The bouquet is a sounding board for cassis, sour cherry, camphor ash, crushed stone and powdered licorice. Bernadot shows a firm texture and a lingering, silky intensity, while being refreshingly natural and weightless; an utterly captivating wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"A mix of earth, underbrush, leather, juniper and tar aromas continue on the palate in this savory Nebbiolo. Firmly structured, finishing long and dry, with a tobacco note." Wine Spectator
"Elegant, bright ruby red. Inviting, equally elegant, of roses and pomegranate, a hint of rubber. Pleasant palate with juicy tannin, salty and stimulating, wraps the mouth in a velvety dress and finishes long with fresh cherry fruit." Falstaff
"The 2014 Barbaresco Bernadot is a more structured and opulent wine with thick lines and a dark core of black fruit. Thanks to vineyards in Treiso, the wine delivers extra power and density with deep layers of blackberry, spice and crushed river stone. This Barbaresco boasts a pretty layering effect that peels back to show delicate intensity and finesse." Wine Advocate
"The 2014 Barbaresco Bernardot has shut down since I last tasted it about nine months ago. The breadth that is typical of this Treiso site comes through, but the 2014 is quite reluctant today. Hints of smoke, licorice, underbrush and a host of balsamic notes infuse the resonant finish." Vinous

Deep orange with amber reflections. Seductive, initially slightly reductive, oxidative, sweet bouquet of dried orange, peach and sweet spices. The palate has an impressively silky texture with lush fruit, honey notes, hints of baked apple and vanilla. It is taut, stable and could be mistaken for a red wine when tasted blind. Be sure to decant it and save some for the next day! SUPERIORE.DE
"Gorgeous aromas of persimmons and spices as nutmeg, cinnamon, orange peel, and hints of caramel. Honey and apricot. Full-bodied, dry and layered with dried fruits such as apricots and pears. Botrytis spice. Fine silky phenolic texture and a flavorful finish. Layered and fascinating. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees centigrade." James Suckling

Ruby red, with a fine cherry fragrance, in which there are also hints of nuts and forest fruits, vanilla, cinnamon, sage and tobacco. Concentrated, rich taste with harmonious tannins and long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"With this vintage, the grapes of Rosso del Conte were once again exclusively harvested in the vineyard San Lucio. Spicy and fresh nose with notes of berries and flowers, flanked by invigorating herbal and pepper aromas; well-balanced, perfectly integrated tannins, velvety and long. Of surprising finesse." Vinum
"Sparkling ruby. Crisp, appealing nose with notes of cardamom and bay leaf, then blackberry and blueberry. On the palate, dense tannins, lots of fresh fruit, spicy final." Falstaff
"This is the 39th edition of this iconic red wine from Sicily. The 2014 Sicilia Contea di Sclafani Rosso del Conte Tenuta Regaleali reveals large-scale intensity with a dark and concentrated core. The bouquet delivers black fruit, balsam herb, cola, grilled herb and black olive. The wine is already very open, expressive and beautiful at this young stage in its evolution. The wine ages in new barrique for 18 months." Wine Advocate
"Deep ruby. Precise, enticing aromas of raspberry, graphite, chestnut, herbs and smoky minerality. Sweet on entry, then juicy and sharply chiseled in the middle, with an austere quality to the raspberry and floral flavors. Finishes sappy and mouthcoating, with penetrating acidity giving this youthfully smooth red a classic mouthfeel." Vinous
"This has a crazy nose with notes of dried bay leaf, Thai basil, sage and thyme. Beneath the herbs are red peppers, blackcurrants, crushed stones, violets and blueberries. The blue-fruit and fascinating, herbal flavors permeate through layered tannins and mineral acidity right up to the long, bright finish. Once again, this breaks the boundaries for nero d’avola."
