A white wine that immediately tells of south-west Sardinia as soon as it touches the palate. Villa di Chiesa originates from the sun-kissed slopes of the lower Sulcis near Porto Pino – calcareous, sandy soils and a sea breeze provide the aromatic essence of this characterful cuvée of Vermentino and Chardonnay. Even the name refers to history: "Villa di Chiesa" was once the medieval name for Iglesias, the town near which viticulture, mining and culture are closely intertwined – a subtle nod to the deep roots of this wine in the local context.

The 2023 vintage in Sardinia was characterised by a moderately warm spring and a dry, windy summer. The vines benefited from the constant Sulcis breeze, which minimised the risk of disease and allowed the grapes to cool down at night. The harvest was concentrated and precise, the harvestwere healthy, aromatically ripe and characterised by lively acidity – ideal conditions for a balanced, powerful Villa di Chiesa with precise fruit and a clear texture. After careful manual harvesting, the wine matures for around eight months in barriques with regular batonnage, which gives it creamy depth and mature complexity.

In the glass, it has a light, golden straw yellow colour with a sparkling shimmer. The nose develops on two levels: light citrus fruit, white peach and exotic fruit meet vanilla and toasted oak wood – elegant, never overpowering. A dense body unfolds on the palate with silky smoothness, fine flavour, lively acidity and chalky minerality in the bright final.
