A rare and very limited-production wine that is more than just a Barbera: it is a living monument. The vines come from a tiny plot in the hamlet of Berri near La Morra, which was planted before the phylloxera epidemic (prefilossera) and survived it – ungrafted, without rootstock, a rare treasure that is now almost unique in Italy. The sandy-limestone soils and the southerly aspect give these grapes an intensity and clarity that is unmatched by any younger vineyard.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red colour with a purplish core. The bouquet entices with ripe blackberries, black cherries and plums, underpinned by violets, liquorice, tobacco leaf and a subtle balsamic note. On the palate, the wine impresses with rich, full-bodied fruit, perfectly integrated acidity and a harmonious interplay of power and elegance. The tannins are ripe, round and silky, yet provide enough structure to support the wine's great Storage potential. The long, mineral-driven finish bears the hallmark of an exceptional wine that combines tradition, terroir and artisanal precision – and which ranks among Piedmont's great rarities year after year.
