Mosconi is one of the top vineyards in Monforte d'Alba. Compared to the Cannubi, Chaira Boschi's Barolo Mosconi is somewhat broader and richer, with more fruit, more sweetness, spices, grilled oregano and a hint of crushed hazelnut. Despite the broad spectrum of flavours on the nose, this wine is always clear and concentrated, with elegant, linear tannins and a matching acidity. There is a cheerful quality to both the nose and the palate, giving the wine a lovely dynamism and length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, dark ruby colour with a slight garnet rim. Complex and broodingnose, rich notes of candied rose petals, cranberry jam and plums, some cigar. Pithy tannins characterise the palate, embedded in fine, sweet enamel, builds well, still a little drying on the final, still needs time." Falstaff
"At first glance, the 2021 Barolo Mosconi is rich, creamy and resonant in the glass. Dark red/blue fruits, leather, lavender, spices and menthol develop with a little coaxing. The Mosconi has plenty of substance, but Chiara Boschis has managed to tame the tannins. This is one of the most refined wines I have ever tasted from the Cru Mosconi. Time in the glass brings out the wine's structural presence, while floral hints and hauntingtannins support the driving finish." Vinous
"The 2021 Barolo Mosconi is structured, straightforward and quite mineral in comparison to the Cannubi. Its firm basic architecture is made light and fragrant by aromas of blue flowers, grilled herbs (with rosemary and aniseed) and pulverised stone. The fruit comes from a vineyard in Monforte d'Alba at an altitude of 370 metres. When I returned to this bottle 24 hours after my first tasting, I noticed the elegant, chalky nature of the tannins." Wine Advocate
"This Barolo opens with aromas of light cherries, cedar wood and a hint of sliced mushrooms. It is medium-bodied and succinctly fresh. The tannins are restrained, almost shy. Overall, the wine is compact and solid. Very well constructed and coherent. It needs three years to mellow, but it's really fun to taste." James Suckling
"Complex, fruity and solidly built, this red wine shows flavours of cherries, strawberries, roses, green olives, leather, iron and tar. Juicy and beautifully balanced, with its dense, assertive tannins that are well integrated. It finishes with a detailed, delicious aftertaste." Wine Spectator
