The owner, Leonardo Pinzolo, cultivates 52 hectares of biodynamically certified vineyards, spread across his family estates in Popoli and Capestrano. The soils here differ from those in the rest of Abruzzo. Combined with the vineyards' higher altitude and proximity to the Gran Sasso mountains, these wines have a decidedly cooler character than is usually found in Abruzzo. In the winery, fermentation takes place spontaneously and without temperature control. With the exception of a few single-vineyard wines, most wines are aged in stainless steel.

A brilliant medium carmine red. The bouquet is initially somewhat closed and reductive; Leonardo explains: "It's better if the wine is a little reductive when it goes into the bottle, as this helps it age better." After a bit of aeration, a delicate exotic spice emerges, along with plenty of red fruit and floral notes. On the palate comes the surprise: beautifully compact, juicy and transparent red fruit, plenty of fine tannins, accompanied by notes of liquorice and sweet cinnamon. The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2025 initially reveals aromas of crushed black cherries, sage, cedar-like spicy notes and a zesty hint of balsamic vinegar. Sweet hints of lavender complement the vibrant red and blue fruit aromas. Structured yet lively and energetic, the 2025 leaves a tart blackberry aftertaste and hints of liquorice that slowly fade away.
