In the past, skilled pasta-makers would quickly twist spaghetti by hand around an iron rod – this gave it its characteristic corkscrew shape, from which it takes its name to this day. Rustichella d'Abruzzo has been producing it in Pianella since 1924, using bronze dies and a slow-drying process at low temperature, made from the finest durum wheat semolina and pure spring water from Abruzzo.
