• Brunello di Montalcino "PS" Riserva DOCG 2015
6 Bottles in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino “PS” Riserva DOCG 2015 · 6 Bottles in OWC

The fruit for this exceptional Brunello, produced only in the very best years, comes from a five-hectare vineyard in the northern part of the appellation, and there are then just 1,500 bottles of it. Very fluid and graceful bouquet, incredibly deep and complex, with sweet extract, great richness and finest wood, almost impenetrable. The palate is both full-bodied and refined, with freshness, great structure and a precise focus on dark fruits, pressed rose petals, graphite, smoked spices and hints of savory smoked meat. Eternally long and fine-mineral finish with a slight saline note. The essence of Sangiovese with the best possible harmony of elegance and complexity. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant, rich ruby. Opens with notes of smoke, then lots of dark fruit, wild raspberry and blackberry, some licorice in the background. Full and rich in the attack and course, presents itself with powerful tannin, powerful depth, firm pressure in the final, can still store for a long time." Falstaff

"There's beauty here, no doubt, but the stylistic preference for 100% new oak on Sangiovese is forever controversial and debatable. The wine's appearance is almost impenetrable, and the bouquet is well-integrated with black fruit, spice and balsam notes." Robert Parker

"The purity of fruit here is so stunning with blackberry, black-cherry, black-truffle and floral aromas, as well as orange peel. It’s full-bodied and very compact with ultra fine tannins that are copious and balanced. It goes on for such a long time. The purity and precision is something else, not to mention the length and depth. So delicious now and a joy to taste." James Suckling

    • "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018
6 Bottles in OWC

“Ornellaia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Ornellaia 2018 "La Grazia" (Grace & Grace) is the expression of a perfectly balanced vintage. After unusually hot and dry seasons, in 2018 the earth finally received the necessary rainfall and winter cold to rest and reset the vine's life cycle. Healthy grapes were harvested between 31 August and 8 October, with an excellent balance of acidity and sugar.

Each original wooden box of 6 contains a bottle with the coveted collector's label "La Grazia". The artist's edition "Vendemmia d'Artista" has been around since 2006. Since then, renowned artists have been invited every year to design a small edition of labels for single and large bottles. For the 2018 vintage, the Belgian artist Jan Fabre was commissioned to develop this. He explains: "I believe that art should combine ethical values and aesthetic principles. For this reason, I decided to use shapes such as the heart, crown, candle and wings in the sculptures for Ornellaia 2018. They are symbols of passion, virtue and purity, brought to life by the small branches and beads of red coral. And in 'A Candle of Mercy' or 'The Heart of Virtue' they melt away, like the melting magic of Ornellaia wine ...".

Pure bouquet of red fruits, mocha, spices, cassis, blood orange and dried flowers, very finesse for its youth. In the background, very restrained maquis, white smoke and traces of liquorice. Clear and firm on the palate, it only gradually reveals a terrific structure, fanning out fruit, tannins and a wonderfully harmonious acidity. One should not make the mistake of opening it too early, it will gain in elegance and depth over the years. SUPERIORE.DE

"The typical intense ruby red of Ornellaia 2018 has a lively and distinctive aroma that characterises the entire vintage. The flavour profile of the 2018 Ornellaia is characterised by an interplay of red fruits, citrus notes, aromas of liquorice and Mediterranean scrubland. On the palate, the wine is enveloping and well-proportioned: its tight yet silky tannins fill the palate with elegance and conciseness. The final reveals a pronounced spicy nuance that brings out the fresh and long aftertaste." Olga Fusari (Kellermeisterin Ornellaia)

"Sparkling, rich ruby with light violet shimmer. Opens with rich dark berry fruit, behind it resinous Mediterranean herbs, some cedar wood. Round and juicy on the palate, very nicely balanced, velvety, already amazingly well-integrated tannin, lardy and lots of plump fruit, reverberating with sandalwood and gingerbread." Falstaff

"Ornellaia 2018 is appealingly gentle now, but its tannin quality and fruit clarity suggest it has the attributes for greatness over the next 15 years or more. It is also notable for its unusually high Merlot content at 51% (with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot). The Merlot benefitted, it seems, from 2018's alternate bouts of hot, sunny weather interspersed with reviving showers. A fruit-packed Ornellaia with bright flavours and a moreish, silky-smooth and sophisticated texture allied to a potentially wide drinking window." Decanter

"The 2018 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is complete and seamlessly stitched together with extreme care and precision. This is an almost technical blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that offers a true sense of wholeness and consistency that speaks to the blending expertise and experience of the winemaking team. Finding harmony among the various vinous components of the wine was especially important in this vintage that prized early-ripening grapes like Merlot over the others. Blackberry and dried cherry segue to spice, tar, campfire ash and more sweet fruit. We're off to a great start, and this vintage of Ornellaia is surely destined to flesh out and grow more complex with age." Robert Parker

"So aromatic and complex with blackcurrants, blueberries, fresh violets and lavender on the nose. Some graphite and iodine, too. Medium to full body with firm, chewy tannins that are polished and refined, yet the palate is so long and refined. This is an Ornellaia with strength in elegance." James Suckling

"The 2018 Ornellaia is an introvert at this stage. Medium in body, with terrific persistence and impeccable balance, the 2018 is not in any mood to show all its cards today. Hints of red berry fruit, mocha, spice, licorice and dried flowers emerge with a bit of coaxing. I won't be surprised to see it put on weight with more time in bottle. There is certainly plenty to look forward to. Readers should expect a silky, aromatic Ornellaia in line with vintages such as 2004 that are more about finesse than raw power. This is the first time in which Merlot drives the blend in Ornellaia." Vinous

“Orma” Toscana Rosso IGT 2018 · BALTHAZAR 12 Liters in OWC

Deep ruby red, intense aroma of dark fruit underlaid with delicate toasty aromas. At the palate complex and full-bodied, stoffig, with balsamic notes, perfectly integrated tannins and a finely balanced fruity-spicy finish. An intense wine, which also does not want to be a lightweight and which plays its strength perfectly. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, intense ruby with purple glints. Opens with notes of licorice and dried tomatoes, then lovely currant. Very good presence on the palate, showing tension and fresh fruit, fine-meshed tannin, lots of dark berry juice on the final." Falstaff

"This wine is built on solid foundations and shows a rich vinous footprint. The fruit is black and concentrated, as is to be expected of a wine of this ambition, and it sits with a dark and almost impenetrable appearance in the glass. Orma shows a careful balance between fruit and oak spice, and both are calibrated to achieve high sensorial impact and intensity. If you're looking for the classic Tuscan blended red with sunshine and power, this release is for you." Robert Parker

"Subtle currant, light sandalwood and some cherry aromas. Full-bodied, yet fine-tuned and polished with tannins that melt beautifully into the wine. Long and focused. Beauty and balance to this." James Suckling

“Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 · BALTHAZAR 12 Liters in OWC

Deep dark ruby violet. On the nose, cassis, blackcurrant and a powerful herbal spiciness with a good dose of pipe tobacco, tar and crushed boulders. On the palate, dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full body. This wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and a seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, sparkling ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Complex nose with notes of cedar, black truffle, then lots of cassis and blackberry. Round and supple on the palate, showing well matured fruit, exceedingly precise, fine, polished tannin, very long, dark chocolate in the finish." Falstaff

"This is a dark, concentrated and full-bodied expression that exudes black fruit and blackberry with spicy tobacco and savory spice. Despite the Bordeaux blend in its DNA, the wine is fully Tuscan in character and spirit, with the softness and fullness that comes from fruit cultivated under the golden sunshine of Central Italy." Robert Parker

"Currant, flower and orange-blossom aromas follow through to a full body with fine, creamy tannins and a long, persistent finish. Shows finesse and precision. Cherry and orange-peel notes at the end. The flavors go on and on." James Suckling

    • "Sassicaia" Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2017
6 Bottles in OWC

“Sassicaia” Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC 2017 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Enormously complex on the nose: we discover cassis, elderberries, heart-cherries and floral and mineral-earthy notes. In the mouth it is firm, precise and yet extremely elegant and balsamic, with a lot of juiciness and a very fine tannin, which is already irresistible in its young years. We have seldom enjoyed a wine that is so dense and full and at the same time seduces with a balance that makes it unique. Further bottle maturity is inevitably rewarded, although a further increase seems hardly imaginable. SUPERIORE.DE

"With this wine, more than 50 years ago, the success story of international grape varieties began in Bolgheri: the Incisa della Rocchetta family recognised the potential of the Bordeaux grape varieties and created this monolith of Italian wine culture. To this day, it is produced almost unchanged and mainly from Cabernet Franc: an appealing nose of fresh stone fruit, juniper and tobacco; the attack is polished, the tannins fine-grained and fresh, invigorating acidity, an extremely complex final on notes of red fruit and spices. Always one of the most elegant interpretations of the terroir." Vinum

"The 2017 Sassicaia is a fascinating wine that symbolizes a never-ending tug-of-war between vintner and vintage. The question is who comes out on top? In this case, my money is on the vintner. The 2017 vintage, characterized by scorching heat and drought across much of Italy, was not an easy one. This Sassicaia represents 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Cabernet Franc, with most of the fruit coming from the Tenuta's historic vineyards Castiglioncello, Quercione and Doccino. These plots are all located on the back hill of Bolgheri at slightly higher elevations where they enjoy cooler nighttime temperatures. Old vines also have a deeper root system that is key to braving dry and hot summers. You can absolutely taste those choices here thanks to the wine's aromatic profile that offers more variety-driven green highlights of wild berry, forest floor and bramble than I would have expected. With time, as the wine takes on more air in the glass, you get a hint of summer plum or cherry cough drop, and this, to my surprise, is the only subtle reminder of the hot vintage encountered. I found the aromas here to be authentically "Tuscan" in character, more so than other vintages, with balsamic and Mediterranean elements that borrow directly from the Sangiovese playbook. The decision to use more neutral oak favors the reduction of oxygen and softens the tannic profile. Although the wine does end with a hint of bitterness, it took on noticeably more volume and soft richness the longer I kept my sample in the glass." Robert Parker

"A taut, densely wrought red, with black currant, black cherry, iron, wild herb and spice flavors matched to the elegant frame and restrained character. Balanced and long, this has a distinctly Old World feel and looks set to unravel its complex facets slowly." Wine Spectator

"The 2017 Sassicaia is dark, sensual and rich, which is a good thing, as the tannins - the result of a warm, dry year in which phenolic ripening was difficult to fully reach - are also quite powerful. I tasted the 2017 from an approximate blend from barrel, where the wines are still aging in separate lots. It will be interesting to see where things end up once the wine is in bottle." Vinous

"The balance and beauty to this is impressive, offering sweet, ripe currants and flowers with some crushed-stone and dry-earth undertones. Full-bodied with soft, polished tannins and a long, creamy-textured finish. It’s polished, yet concentrated. Better after 2022, but already very seductive." James Suckling

"Aromas of exotic spice, baked plum and French oak mingle with camphor and blue flower on the nose. This boasts extraordinary elegance and freshness despite the hot vintage, delivering flavors of juicy Marasca cherry, spiced blueberry, tobacco and licorice. Velvety, fine-grained tannins provide support while coffee and crushed mint linger on the finish." Wine Enthusiast

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 · BALTHAZAR 12 Liters in OWC

Floral nose with a lot of red, warm fruit and delicate herbal notes. On the palate it is smooth and elegant with a wonderful depth and structure. Then again herbs, in addition violets, some plum and a touch of tar and leather. Saffredi literally sneaks up on him until he then goes into a very long and harmonious finish with an impressive presence and elegance. One of the great Italian wines from an equally great Tuscany vintage! SUPERIORE.DE

"From the dream year. Cool, very precisely woven bouquet with dense aromas of red and black fruits, wonderfully floral with violets and lavender, along with spicy and ethereal notes of Mediterranean kitchen herbs, leather, chocolate and liquorice. On the palate, it is equally powerful and loaded with dense, blackberry fruit, but with linear discipline, as it remains powerful and gripping until the long final, which again offers the full range of aromas". Weinwisser

"Deep ruby with a fine violet hue. Intense and dense nose, shows notes of pickled blackberries, plums and cassis, lots of cardamom. On the palate it shows a lot of ripe berry fruit, round and smooth, lots of blackberry and blackcurrant, present, well integrated tannin, very long and persistent. Falstaff

"A generally uneventful growing season led to good ripening at a measured pace. It's a radiant, deep colour with an elegant, fresh nose of floral and patisserie aromas leading to a palate which has the same elegant cast and freshness, but it’s also concentrated and sweet-fruited, with lively, intense black fruit and notes of forest-floor, fresh bay leaf and spicy sandalwood. It has a very good future, underpinned by fine, persistent tannins." Decanter

"One of the highlights in this range, the 2016 Saffredi is a hugely promising wine marked by a beguiling combination of vertical structure, energy and concentration. Black cherry, lavender, spice, plum, sage and lavender all pulse with remarkable energy. Massive and yet remarkably vivid for such an intense wine, the 2016 is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine." Vinous

"This vintage is compact, firm and precise, with lovely floral aromas on the bouquet in front of blackberry and plum. Long oak toasting gives the wine tasty notes of spice and cinnamon and rounds the bouquet off nicely. The mouthfeel is soft and velvety. This is a complex, integrated and absolutely beautiful wine." Robert Parker

"Incredible aromas of dark berries, lavender, rosemary, licorice and dried flowers. Spice. Full body and fantastic tannin texture with great length. Goes on for minutes. Muscular yet wonderfully formed and refined. A glorious Saffredi." James Suckling (Platz 12 - TOP-Weine Italien 2018)

“Siepi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015 · BALTHAZAR 12 Liters in OWC

Its original vineyard of the same name has long been regarded as one of the best sites in the Castellina zone. From equal parts of Merlot and Sangiovese comes this excellent, very dense wine with ripe fruit aromas and sweet vanilla hints. SUPERIORE.DE

"Beautiful aromas of violets, berries and currants. Dried flowers, too. Full body, such intense fruit and acidity. Vivid and complex. Wild raspberry. Tight and dense. A triumph for Siepi. Half sangivoese and merlot. Better in 2022 but hard to not drink now." James Suckling

"This is a delightful 50-50 blend of Sangiovese and Merlot with a bold and contemporary personality. The 2015 Siepi is a consistent product year in and year out. The wine faithfully delivers a New World interpretation with an all-Tuscan soul. You get Italy-centric aromas of Mediterranean herb and rosemary backed by plump black cherry, sweet tobacco, clove and cinnamon. The oak influences are evident vis-à-vis the wine's structure and power. The mouthfeel is layered and textured. It is ready to drink now, but the bottle could also be put aside for the next 10 years. The Siepi vineyard is located on a well-exposed plateau some 260 meters above sea level." Robert Parker

"This has depth and complexity, featuring black cherry, plum, leather, spice and mineral flavors. The dense texture exudes refined tannins as this stays fresh through the long, saturated finish. Fruit, spice and tobacco elements linger." Wine Spectator

Deep dark ruby red. Floral nose with a lot of red, warm fruit and delicate herbal notes. At the palate supple-elegant with a wonderful depth and structure. Then herbs again, plus violets, some plum and a hint of tar and leather. Saffredi literally sneaks up on you until it then moves into a very long and harmonious finish with an impressive presence and finesse. One of the great wines of Italy full of elegance! SUPERIORE.DE

"The Fattoria le Pupille 2018 Saffredi borrows quite a bit from all of the grapes that make up the blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot). These balanced results open to a round bouquet of dark fruit, black cherry and plum. As the wine warms in the glass, it shows spice, cured tobacco and campfire embers. This is a full-bodied expression, but not excessively so. It puts forth immediate elegance with carefully measured tannins and a fitting postscript of fresh acidity. This newest vintage of Saffredi should be hitting the market now, but if you buy it, you should plan on cellaring it." Robert Parker

"The 2018 Saffredi is a regal, elegant, supremely polished wine. It may very well be the most refined Saffredi I have ever tasted. Silky in its first impression, with striking aromatic presence and exceptional balance, the 2018 is a total knock-out. Sweet red cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and cinnamon accents develop over time, but it is the wine’s overall balance and poise that are so impressive today. The 2018 is an absolutely gorgeous Saffredi. Don’t miss it." Vinous

"A fantastic nose to this with currant, sage, rosemary and rose-petal character. Sweet tobacco and spicy chocolate, too. Very complex. The palate shows lovely depth of fruit with blackberries, blackcurrants and fine tannins. It’s racy and refined with a direct, focused palate. Just a baby. This needs at least two or three years to soften." James Suckling

“Siepi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 · BALTHAZAR 12 Liters in OWC

Sparkling, intense ruby violet. In the nose with notes of ripe elderberries and plums, underlaid with fine sandalwood. Juicy and full-bodied in the base and course, shows an enormously opulent and crunchy berry fruit, grippy, fine-meshed tannin, very long aftertaste, in the finale decent of tobacco, straightforward and clear. Dream vintage! SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, rich ruby with a violet core. Compact nose with rich notes of ripe blackberries and blueberries, plus plenty of cinnamon and cloves, almost Christmassy. Juicy, much clear, ripe berry fruit, well integrated tannin with beautiful drive, in the aftertaste still subtle wood notes noticeable." Falstaff

"The 2016 Siepi, the estate's Sangiovese/Merlot blend, is a big, rich wine. In 2016, the Merlot is especially prominent. Black cherry jam, torrefaction, spice, leather, menthol and new French oak are all pushed forward. Time in the glass brings out a good bit of aromatic freshness to balance things out. Readers should expect a potent, seriously concentrated wine. Vinous"

"A blend of Merlot and Sangiovese in equal parts, the 2016 Siepi is a luscious and soft wine that oozes forth with dark berry intensity. The fruit is compact and dense. This wine performs beautifully in terms of aromas, but the mouthfeel is especially fine-tuned and elegant in this classic vintage. Dark fruit is followed by spice, tar, rose bud and sharp mineral nuances that recall the gravel and limestone-rich soils of Chianti Classico. This is perhaps the best vintage of Siepi I have tasted thus far." Robert Parker

"What a beautiful nose of elderberries, freshly picked blackcurrants, citrus, herbs, licorice and crushed stones, amidst a backdrop of coffee beans, cedar and vanilla. Full-bodied and very subtle and refined with tightly wound tannins and an impressive balance of fruit and acidity. Long, grainy and elegant on the finish. A masterpiece." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Cerretalto” DOCG 2012 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Superb - the Cerretalto 2012, a plant from a historical top location in the west of Montalcino. In the bouquet, spicy accents and aromas of soft sour cherries and blackberries give the scent. The impeccable taste impresses with its dynamic and weighty character, the dense tannin with good supporting effect, the respectable acidity and a first class finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"A rich, deep ruby with a garnet shimmer. Intense and complex nose, with dark cherries, violets, fresh, juicy plums, olive paste and dried tomatoes, very inviting. Rich, firm base on the palate, lots of warmth, dark, ripe fruit, dense tannin interwoven with sweet enamel, salty and long, for lying clean!" Falstaff

"The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto offers a prolonged, flowing and carefully massaged drinking experience that drapes over the senses with some studied intensity and lots of intriguing complexity. This wine nails that perfect balance between power and elegance (that elusive exchange that so many winemakers hope to achieve) with effortless precision. Bold cherry fruit and spice are tightly woven together. In the mouth, the wine shows texture, depth and succulence. Generally speaking, this is not my favorite vintage in Montalcino, but this wine suddenly made me forget that thought." Robert Parker

"Flavors of medicinal herbs, juniper, macerated cherry, plum, tobacco and spice are the hallmarks of this intense red. Ripe and concentrated, yet sleek and focused, with spice notes chiming in on the long, minerally and firmly tannic finish." Wine Spectator

"The density is so impressive in this great single-vineyard wine of Casanova. It's full yet agile at the same time. Shows such integrated tannins and fresh acidity at the finish. Energized and focused. Tangy and citrusy. Mineral undertone. One of the great Brunellos of 2012." James Suckling

      Text to follow shortly. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, brightening ruby garnet. Finely marked nose with pronounced notes of ripe raspberries, juicy, fresh cherries and a touch of leather. Very impressive on the palate, fine, slightly grippy tannin in many layers characterizes the wine, embedded in fine melting, ripe red berry fruit, firm pressure on the final." Falstaff

"Extremely perfumed with black-cherry, plum and red-cherry aromas that follow through to a full body with very fine, pretty tannins that follow through to a flavorful finish. Pretty balance and refinement. All about finesse." James Suckling

"Poggio Di Sotto's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is undeniably elegant and feminine, impressing with an alluring bouquet which mixes spiced black cherry with hints of sage, mint, dried roses and white smoke. It enters the palate soft, lifted and youthfully understated, cascading bright red fruits laced with minerals across a core of stimulating acids as nuanced tannins slowly build. An air of red currant, licorice and inner florals linger, as the 2015 Riserva flexes its structural muscle throughout the cheek-puckering finale. This will require quite a bit of cellaring to fill out and settle down, yet is sure to be worth the wait. I followed the 2015 Riserva over the course of four days and it never declined." Vinous

"There’s a leafy underbrush element to this red, punctuating the cherry, strawberry and earth flavors. Compact for now, yet balanced, with a taut, reserved finish. Offers tension and suppleness, with plenty in reserve." Wine Spectator

“Saffredi” Maremma Toscana IGT 2011 · GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

Perfect Supertuscan, warmth and freshness, elegance and harmony in harmony! Sweet scent of highly ripe cherries and berries with beautiful floral notes. Also in the mouth ripe and with a lot of fruit charm, spicy and pleasant acidity. The Saffredi has bite and a nice length with ripe tannin. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, sparkling ruby violet. Impressive, rich nose, smells of ripe, dark blackberries, currants, in addition some fresh figs and noble dark chocolate. Rich, dense tannin, in the attack and course much present, ripe fruit, long aftertaste." Falstaff

"Impeccably lifted and gracious on the palate, the 2011 Saffredi lifts from the glass with expressive floral notes and beautifully articulated fruit. Overall, the 2011 is an elegant, restrained Saffredi that emphasizes finesse over power, although there is plenty of vintage 2011 sexiness. More importantly, the 2011 is a big step up from the 2010. Sage, rosemary and tobacco are some of the many notes that add complexity as the wine continues to open up in the glass." Antonio Galloni

"I love the aromas of black truffles, rosemary, dark fruits, rose petals and stones. It's shows so many characteristics of Tuscany on the nose. Full body with super-fine tannins and a long finish. Tannins and all in place. Wonderful texture." James Suckling

"The 2011 Saffredi is Maremma world class!" René Gabriel (20 points)

"The 2011 Saffredi opens to thick, dark extraction and large scale aromatic intensity. This was a warm vintage and you can feel the softness in the ripe cherry and blackberry flavors offered by the Merlot. The Cabernet component is also evident thanks to pressed rose and grilled Mediterranean herb. Saffredi is a wine built for long cellar aging, yet this vintage can also be readily consumed in the near term." Robert Parker

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 · GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

On the palate, it is just as powerful and loaded with dense, blackberry fruit, but with linear discipline, as it remains powerful and gripping until the long final, which again offers the full range of aromas".

“Orma” Toscana Rosso IGT 2018 · GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC
