Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
Fulignis Brunello Riserva from a balanced vintage opens with a bouquet of wild berries, almonds, grilled rosemary, balsamic herb and cassis. As always the elegant style of this family business, which is awarded every year, is immediately identifiable. Today, after good ventilation, it presents itself rich, complex, with beautiful freshness and a precise tannin structure and indicates at least 20 years of maturing potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shiny, rich garnet red. Very dense and appealing nose, full of raspberry, rose petals and cherry jam. Very present on the palate, juicy and with a fine tannin, it rolls over the palate with a long aftertaste of ripe cherries." Falstaff
"Mid ruby. Lifted dark-fruit nose. Really ripe yet tangy and with lovely chewy tannins supporting the fruit. Powerful, yet not overpowering." Jancis Robinson
"A dense, muscular version, this red boasts cherry, currant, tobacco, iron and wild herb aromas and flavors. Bright and juicy, with fine balance and a refreshing finish." Wine Spectator
"Luminous deep red. Steely aromas and flavors of redcurrant, cranberry cocktail, and sour red cherry are complicated by cinnamon and minerals, while lifted by a bright violet topnote. Fresh, precise and focused, with harmonious lively acidity providing outstanding clarity and cut extending the flavors nicely on the long, suave, refined finish." Ian d'Agata
"Initially closed and shy, the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva needs a little extra time in the glass before it starts to shine. The wine is made according to a very classic blueprint that prizes delicate primary fruit freshness, fully integrated tannins (nudged forward by Slavonian oak casks) and bright acidity. Fruit for this wine is sourced from 20-year-old vines that deliver the added extract and concentration worthy of a Riserva expression. This wine is impeccably balanced and radiant. It drinks beautifully straight out of the gate, however, it has the natural DNA to assure a graceful aging future." Robert Parker
"Very intense aromas of ripe dark fruit with plums and cherries, intermingled with aged meat, warm stones and sweet, dried-wood nuances. The concentrated palate has a suave and plush core with tannins building in impressive layers to hold a long, flavorful finish." James Suckling
"Rose, wild berry, camphor and a whiff of exotic spice float out of the glass along with a hint of new leather. Radiant and loaded with finesse, the taut, elegantly structured palate delivers juicy red cherry, strawberry compote, baking spice and licorice while fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity provide balance and support." Barolo “UnoPerUno” DOCG 2013
Fabulously elegant Barolo in bright ruby garnet from the Arborina single vineyard and "uno per uno", i.e. berry for berry, manually selected! The bouquet of flowers, wild berries and herbs unsurpassed in its harmony. Equally balanced on the palate, with deep fruit and silky tannins. That's all Barolo can do! SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, luminous ruby with a fine garnet shimmer. Cool and memorable nose, with notes of raspberry and blackberry, ripe cherry and notes of tea and tobacco. Round and smooth in the attack and course, ripe, clear fruit, much blackberry, dark cherries, fine enamel, opens with wonderfully fine-meshed tannin, juicy and long." Falstaff
"The result of extreme hand de-stemming, the 2013 Barolo Unoperuno is assembled berry-by-berry. Fruit comes from the estate's celebrated Arborina vineyard. This wine was not produced in 2014 (because yields were so low). Starting in 2015, it will also include fruit blended in from Cannubi, Cerretta and other sites. This edition shows a wonderful sense of precision and focus with subtle mineral intensity at the back of dried fruit, tobacco, moist earth and toasted hazelnut. Only 1,500 bottles are made. The labor required to make this wine is intense. It takes a full week to complete the hand de-stemming process in which each berry is picked off individually ("uno per uno"). The must undergoes a ten-day maceration period. To innovator Elio Altare, this is his interpretation of a "traditional" Barolo." Robert Parker
"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Backward nose with a singed edge, but with plenty of depth. Backward palate too, with fragrant cherry and a certain cool sleekness too it. Richly tannic on the finish and plenty of sweet, embryonic, succulent fruit." Jancis Robinson

“Levigne” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2018 (BIO) · 6 Bottles in OWC
The grapes for Istine's cult Riserva come exclusively from the estate's own vineyards Istine (Radda), Casanova dell'Aia (Radda) and Cavarchione (Gaiole). Only 4,000 bottles of this breathtaking wine, which is aged for 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, are bottled each year.
Rich, bright ruby red with a sparkling core. The bouquet exercises complex aristocratic restraint. Compact and fresh-fruited nose of lush cherries and ripe raspberries, with amarena cherries and hints of tobacco in the background. Medium-bodied on the palate, but with endless, captivating depth waiting to be discovered. Then spreads out beautifully in the body, coming across as downright juicy and fruit-driven, opening up more and more towards its terrific finalwith crisp cherries and a refined saltiness. Purists will love its linear and unmistakable Sangiovese character. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous crimson. Firm cherry nose with a peppery tingle. Full spread of sweet red fruit and tangy cherry and with a layer of sandy tannins. Very long, tangy and animating." Jancis Robinson
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Levigne is dense and potent in bearing. Black cherry, plum, new leather, spice, menthol, licorice and mocha all meld together. A Riserva of both volume and complexity, the Levigne is very nicely done, even if the oak impact is on the edge of being overpowering." Vinous
"Underbrush, new leather and ripe berry are just some of the aromas you'll find on this fantastic Sangiovese. Velvety, enveloping and delicious, the full-bodied palate doles out fleshy black cherry, baked plum, licorice and crushed mint framed in tightly knit, refined tannins." Wine Enthusiast

Barolo “UnoPerUno” DOCG 2015
The grapes of UnoPerUno come from the Cru vineyard Arborina and they are individually destemmed. As a result of this intensive manual work, only 1,500 bottles of this extraordinary wine are sold in well-assorted specialist shops, and that only from the best vintages. Due to the manual destemming, no green overtones of the stems get into the mash, thus the tannins become silkier and creamier than with the conventional method. You can taste the result: UnoperUno is of high fruit intensity, has incredible depth and structure and is a benchmark of the appellation every year in its purity and clarity on the nose and palate. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby. A little more perfumed and concentrated than the Arborina 2015 from this producer, and with minerally hints. Fantastic, concentrated and yet lithe palate with loads of tasty, tactile tannins. Almost mouth-watering energetic finish." Jancis Robinson
"The 2015 Barolo Unoperuno represents a departure from prior years in that the wine is now a blend from various sites as opposed to being sourced solely from Arborina, as it was in its first vintages. Silky and yet also generous on the palate, with super-polished tannins, the 2015 simply has it all. Blood orange, star anise and cinnamon add attractive aromatic top notes to this ethereal, exotic Barolo. The 2015 is a blend from Cannubi, Cerretta, Sarmassa Arborina and Pernanno." Vinous
"This wine is the result of a meticulous destemming process in which the grapes are removed one by one, or "uno per uno," from the stems. In the past, this wine saw fruit sourced from only the Arborina vineyard in La Morra, but starting with this release, the 2015 Barolo Unoperuno represents a blend of fruit, although the specific vineyard parcels are not defined. Elio Altare calls it a "Barolo with a cru base." This is a beautiful wine, and the tannins are well integrated. It shows the pureness of the variety, a very silky and bright expression that is fresh and streamlined. It would be well accompanied by a delicate porcini risotto." Robert Parker
"This has plenty of punch and a velvety texture. Cherry, plum, licorice and tar flavors are beautifully integrated with the round tannins and bright acidity. A hint of mint graces the lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator

“Contrada Sciaranuova Vecchie Vigne” Rosso Etna DOC 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Tasca got involved in Etna early on and the latest result of these years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante estate: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are filigree and profound, and despite their power, acidity and taut tannin, very elegant, finesse-rich and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine - due to the altitude, soil composition and morphology of the historic lava flows. A high annual rainfall ensures that the soil has all the water it needs, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the aromatic diversity of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Sciaranuova parcel is situated at an average altitude of 730 metres above sea level between the villages of Montelaguardia and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of about 4.9 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. Within the Sciaranuova parcel is a small cru site whose vines were planted in 1961. The bottles, produced in very small quantities, are labelled "Vigna Vecchia". Compared to its "younger brother", this rare wine shows increased complexity, depth and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby and already a touch developed. Elegant, beautiful even! Pure, sweet raspberry and cherry notes mingling with earth and minerals. Gorgeous fragrant raspberry and firm tannins that push the fruit on the finish. Still austere and in need of more bottle age." Jancis Robinson
"Moderately saturated ruby-red. Very pure aromas and flavors of blood orange, potpourri, red cherry nectar, minerals and sweet spices. Very light on its feet and extremely suave, with outstanding acid-sugar-tannin balance, this is actually less weighty on the palate than the regular Sciaranuova bottling. The finish is very long and pure." Vinous
"This wine is made from Tascante's oldest vines, planted in 1961. The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova V.V. (the initials stand for Vigna Vecchia or "old vines") is a beautifully polished and glossy expression with a fine and smooth aromatic presentation. It starts off with primary notes of forest berry and cassis and spans all the way over to campfire ash and camphor. That range is as beautiful as it is impressive. The mouthfeel is silky and soft with fine, powdery tannins. Put this delicate wine aside for a few more years. Some 5,000 bottles were produced." Robert Parker

“Coltassala” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2017 (BIO) · 6 Bottles in OWC
Coltassala Gran Selezione is an impeccable representative of the royal class in Chianti Classico. The immensely fragrant bouquet shows black fruits, spices and ploughed earth. All the aromas are on the dark and spicy side, but the wine always remains fresh, dense, buoyant and very linear. Shows rich volume and a strong personality and precision. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, rich ruby. Finely marked nose with notes of cherry, raspberry and cloves. Appealing play between juicy fruit and grippy tannin, long after cherries." Falstaff
"Lustrous ruby. Iron, tar and cherry with hints of cardamom. Generous, yet with a medium-bodied weight. Concentrated, tangy, dark fruit with polished tannins. Far from ready." Jancis Robinson
"A complex version, this red sports plum, blackberry, leather, earth, camphor and eucalyptus aromas and flavors. Though vivid and incisive with its core of fruit, dusty tannins grip the finish, where an oak spice element lingers. Be patient, here." Wine Spectator
"The 2017 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Coltassala is striking. Rich and ample, with tremendous depth, the 2017 shows all of the mystique that makes Sangiovese so alluring. Sweet dark cherry, dark plum, leather, licorice, menthol and tobacco build as the 2017 shows off its breadth and personality. The Coltassala has a bit more volume and oak influence than the other Volpaia wines, but it's an approach that works so well here." Vinous
"A real beauty, the 2017 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Coltassala (made with organic fruit) shows medium-rich textural fiber with plenty of dark fruit, cherry, spice and leather. The important thing to mention here is how light and elegantly fragrant this wine remains despite the considerable heat and dryness of the growing season. In fact, all those fruit tones emerge with terrific purity and focus, backed by acidity and integrated structure, that invite an evening-long sampling with some medium-aged pecorino." Robert Parker
"Transparent and linear with currant and cherry aromas and flavors. It's beautifully fine and bright with crushed cherries and berries and hints of strawberries. Pine needles and fresh herbs, too. Very silky tannins and a palate that shows poise and polish." James Suckling

“Riserva del Conte” Contea di Sclafani DOC 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
Tasca d'Almerita recalls the first vintage of their legendary Rosso del Conte from the San Lucio vineyard with this lush Riserva del Conte. Ruby red, the aromas of berries, cherries and spices have wonderfully taken the wood into their midst. A lively taste, dense tannins and an endless finish complete the perfect picture. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. Restrained, yet balanced nose, appears multilayered, albeit filigree. On the palate very juicy, dense, with clear fruit and tightly meshed enveloping tannin, shows elegant pressure, builds up in many layers, great length and finesse." Falstaff
"Deep crimson. A little less immediate and floral than the normal 2016 with brooding fruit and touches of dark spice. Tightly wound and still very embryonic fruit palate with vibrant, almost linear acidity. The fruit slowly unfurls on the palate over a rich layer of polished, fine tannins. Finely balanced but in need of much more time." Jancis Robinson
"The 2016 vintage was characterised by a mild and dry winter, a cool spring and a summer with well-distributed rainfall. Summer temperatures were not very high and ensured a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. Grapes were harvested on 29 September. 'The vintage was deemed worthy of being sealed in numbered bottles,' said Corrado Maurigi, estate manager. The wine is extremely youthful with a vinous, violet character. Vibrant red cherry fruit dominates over a balsamic whiff, with a floral bouquet in the background. Silky first, then velvety, it's a precise and crisp wine - although lacking layers at the moment due to the youthfulness." Decanter
"The 2016 Riserva del Conte Vigneto San Lucio keeps you at the edge of the glass, with a dark yet gorgeous display of licorice-tinged currants and plums complemented by notes of stone dust, mint and hints of spiced orange. This is elegance personified, casting a polished display of black cherries across a core of vibrant acidity, complementary notes of sour citrus and wild herbs mounting toward the close. You hardly notice its tannic heft until the very end, as this tapers off with harmony, showing classically dry, persistent yet still so enjoyable, even at this young stage. That said, the best is truly yet to come, and collectors will benefit from cellaring this for at least another three to five years." Vinous
"Only made in the best vintages, the Tasca Conti d'Almerita 2016 Sicilia Contea di Sclafani Riserva del Conte Tenuta Regaleali sees its fruit sourced from the Vigneto San Lucio in a classic winemaking subzone on the western side of the island. Made with a blend of the indigenous grapes Perricone and Nero d'Avola, the wine is streamlined and elegant with enormous persistence that can be counted in many long minutes. The bouquet shows dried cherry, plum, leather and a touch of scorched earth or grilled rosemary. This is a spectacular wine that sits at the top of the Sicilian wine pyramid. I love the mineral interlude with granite and crushed slate that appears on the close." Robert Parker

Limitation of 3 articles per customerBrunello di Montalcino “Rennina” DOCG 2013 · MAGNUM in OWC
A modernist, as he says in the book. Balanced and impressive at the same time. Strong scents and flavours of violets, black cherries, tobacco and menthol. The tannins are firm and yet beautifully integrated. Rennina is a complex, medium-weight wine, which has a great positive influence on its ageing potential and constitutes its success story. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina is a dark, plush and succulent red wine with seamless overall integration. Angelo Gaja makes his wines with broad brush strokes that form shapes of perfect harmony and grandeur. He seems less interested in the minutiae, much in the same way an impressionist painter creates a portrait without consideration for the gritty details of reality. Continuing with my art metaphor, I'll venture to say that this is a big-picture wine that embraces bold fruit, oak spice, acidity and tannin in one overwhelming and warm embrace. I usually score the Sugarille a point or two higher, but this year the Rennina won my heart." Robert Parker
"Aromas of orange peel, dark fruit and bark. Dried mushroom, too. Full body and extremely polished and velvety tannins that are plush but compacted. Delicious finish." James Suckling
"Deep ruby. Lots of oak and lively, concentrated cherry on the nose. Oak has quite a big impact but there is such a lot of fruit that it integrates. The finish has amazing length and muscular grip, but it could do with much less oak, because it plays up on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"This perfumed Brunello offers enticing scents of pressed violet, rose, talcum powder, wild berry, eucalyptus and a whiff of exotic spice. On the structured palate, firm fine-grained tannins provide support for dried black cherry, licorice, vanilla and a hint of espresso." Wine Enthusiast
"This is fragrant, offering cherry, leather, floral and spice notes. On the palate, this remains fresh, with persistent flavors and fine harmony. Dusty tannins pull everything together on the finish. There's plenty of energy here." Wine Spectator

Contrada G (Guardiola) Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT 2015 · 6 Bottles in OWC
Ruby garnet colour, fine violet note and many spices in the bouquet. Dense and compact with firm tannin and sweet fruit melt. If one gives it time, this wine (age of the vines: 100 years, production: 4,000 bottles) stands at the beginning of a long, promising development. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright dark red. Intensely aromatic nose of superripe red cherry, spices, minerals, balsamic vinegar and broom. Then clean, vibrant and tactile, with polished tannins providing noteworthy backbone on the long youthful, chewy finish. This will need a long time to smoothen out. The G in the wine’s name stands for Guardiola (800 meters asl). First made in 2011, so much later than the other single contrada wines by Franchetti." Ian d’Agata (vinous.com)
"Fragrant and light red fruit with rather firm tannins. Seems pretty much ready now, but still in cask for the foreseeable future." Jancis Robinson
"Fresh and light- to medium-bodied, this perfumed red offers dried mint, violet and anise accents to the cherry and mandarin orange peel flavors." Wine Spectator

“Luce” Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
Intense ruby red. Complex aromas of ripe black fruits and liquorice, rounded off with notes of tobacco and truffles. Soft and fresh on the palate, with an impressive texture. Velvety tannins and opulent mouth-filling lead this wine from an excellent vintage into a long and elegant final. A delicious, modern interpretation of Brunello, full of personality, brightness and sunshine! SUPERIORE.DE
"From vineyards at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level: On the nose, aromas of wild berries, lilac and pepper are pleasing; balanced texture with polish, racy tannin and noticeable acidity, vinified with precision, nuanced yet powerful final." Vinum
"Deep, smoky, earthy aroma, ripe cherries, blueberries, clear tobacco and spicy notes, chocolate, a touch of graphite. In the mouth immensely powerful and dense, everything seems to be in a higher gear, the supple fullness is supported by an acidity that seems to be chiselled as well as by fine-meshed tannins, powerful final. As in the previous year, of excellent quality, some find it too "modern", but you can't talk this wine down. Weinwisser
"Powerful ruby with fine garnet rim. Very compact nose with inviting notes of ripe, dark cherries, blackberries, fine spice in the background. Juicy and round in attack and course, shows a lot of present fruit, fine-meshed tannin in many layers, firm pressure in the final, compact." Falstaff
"Deep, lustrous ruby. Taut nose with rich cherry fruit underneath and a complex oak note. Full, yet sleek on the palate with lots of grainy tannins kept beautifully in check by the generous succulent cherry fruit. Ends full, concentrated and a little vibrant. The enormous alcohol of this wine simply goes unnoticed, until you look at the label." Jancis Robinson
"From the Frescobaldi family of Florence, the Luce della Vite (or Tenuta Luce) 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Luce is a wine of depth and intensity. This 2016 vintage goes further and offers more substance than most of the recent vintages we've seen. It reveals a dark color and appearance with cocktail cherry, balsam spice and a touch of white chocolate. The tannins are dry, but the wine compensates with a good dose of that concentrated fruit richness that defines this classic vintage." Robert Parker
"Lighter in colour than the Luce, higher acidity even on the aromatics, gorgeously sculpted and nuanced, with kick and backbone. A savoury edge to the fruit, and strong spices, we are here at almost five years since harvest and you feel the softened tannins with tobacco and olive paste alongside still bright cherry fruits. This is sliding towards being ready to drink, although a few more years will really open things up." Decanter
"Pure black cherry, blackberry and black currant flavors abound in this rich red, supported by graphite, earth, wild rosemary and anise notes. Balanced and almost approachable now, yet the refined tannins and bright acidity should allow this to develop for decades." Wine Spectator
"Ripe, decadent aromas of blackberries, black truffles and black cherries with hints of violets. Dark, wet earth, too. Full-bodied with a solid core of beautiful, pure fruit and creamy, round and fine tannins. Tight and reserved, but showing wonderful potential." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Vigna Nastagio” DOCG 2016 (BIO) · 6 Bottles in OWC
Nastagio (also called Nastasio) is the name of an ancient farmhouse of the Fattoria di Sant'Angelo, which was already recorded in the maps of Grand Duke Leopold. Brunello Nastagio is released six years after the harvest, as if it were a Riserva, and is the result of Col d'Orcia's many years of experience in developing and cultivating the Sangiovese vineyard. It is also the result of the many research chapters that Col d'Orcia has been carrying out with the University of Florence for more than twenty years. The ageing in tonneaux (500 Liters) oak barrels and then in the traditional large "botti" represent an ideal combination between tradition and modernity, while maintaining the essential aspect of longevity.
Like a Riserva, Nastagio is always released one year later. The terrific 2016 edition glows ruby in the glass and offers a rich bouquet of crushed black cherries with hints of brown spices and sage, enhanced by notes of white smoke, cedar and dried roses that give it finesse. It seems a little restrained at first, then seductively smooth as the sweet red fruits are quickly contrasted by lively acids and savoury spices, and the fine tannins slowly build towards the finish. The finish is long, structured yet balanced, evoking tart wild berries with hints of red liquorice and pretty flowers. It is already a lovely young wine, but it has over a decade of cellaring left and deserves its Riserva status. Perhaps it is the best Nastagio ever made. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, elegant ruby red. Expressive and clearly marked nose of ripe wild strawberries, blood oranges, rose hips and raspberry syrup, delicate floral notes round off the bouquet. Polished and finesse-rich on the palate, opens delicately creamy, then with great tension and fine salt, beautiful length." Falstaff
"Lustrous mid to deep ruby. Alluring, expressive sweet cherry fruit nose. Elegant, supple, mouth-filling fruit on the palate. Perfumed and very long but remains poised. Very polished, juicy and elegant and with fine, clinging tannins turning up on the finish. Great purity." Jancis Robinson
"Underbrush, toasted nut, grilled herb and eucalyptus aromas waft out of the glass. On the full-bodied palate, tightly knit, close-grained tannins support dried cherry, licorice, tobacco and mocha notes. Give it several more years to fully develop." Wine Enthusiast
"Rich aromas of ripe plums, crushed stones and rose petal follow through to a medium to full body, with medium chewy tannins and a polished and rather creamy texture at the finish. Give this three or four years to soften but already very attractive. Try after 2024." James Suckling
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Nastagio is youthfully coy, requiring time to release its dark fruits and savory exotic spices. This is velvety in feel yet not weighty at all, with ripe black fruits contrasting nervous acidity as autumnal spices come forward toward the close. Hints of vanilla, tobacco and sweet herbs linger through the long, structured finale. The 2016 finds a wonderful balance of fruit, structure and acidity, and it should be glorious in another five to ten years’ time." Vinous
"Always released one year later as if it were a Riserva (although it is not labeled as such), the Col d'Orcia 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Nastagio offers an increased level of clarity and purity that comes directly from the high quality of organically farmed fruit collected in this classic vintage. This growing site is characterized by rocky, limestone-rich soils. This is a broad and large expression of Sangiovese that wraps evenly over the palate, offering good textural weight and freshness along the way." Robert Parker
"This red finds a nice equilibrium between ripe cherry and strawberry fruit and balsamic notes of sage, thyme and juniper. Features iron, leather and tobacco accents, which chime in as this plays out on the densely structured finish. Fine balance and length." Wine Spectator

“Camarcanda” Bolgheri DOC 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC
Camarcanda is a rich Bolgheri Rosso Superiore with a dark bouquet of black fruits, espresso, chocolate, liquorice and tar. On the palate, it is decidedly full-bodied, with excellent depth, dense structure and firm body. Opulent and long, this wine already shows a wide range of its personality. SUPERIORE.DE
"Gentle and lifted. With tannins hardly perceptible until some very fine leathery ones at the very end. Very 21st-century and polished. Quite a statement!" Jancis Robinson
"This verges on thick yet remains balanced and vibrant, courtesy of the lively acidity. Boasts blackberry, dark plum and blueberry flavors framed by tar and toasty oak. The finish is both dense and clean, with a hint of licorice. Excellent length and potential." Wine Spectator

“Monte Lodoletta” Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2008
Sparkling, rich ruby with a light garnet edge. Intense bouquet of dark berries, plums, slightly raisiny, very balanced. On the palate almost explosive and multi-layered, with a wonderfully smooth texture like velvet and silk, then soft, sweetish and dense tannin, builds up endlessly. SUPERIORE.DE
"Impenetrable dark lustrous ruby. Like the 2008 Valpolicella but exponentially augmented: chalky dense fruit and succulent acidity. Muscular tannins. Long, intense and wonderfully composed at the same time in spite of its 16.5% (!)." Jancis Robinson
"This is a lighter, more elegant style from Dal Forno, reflecting the cooler vintage conditions in 2008. The juicy palate is balanced by a wonderful level of structure, with slightly generic but ripe plum and hedgerow fruit with violet lift. A textural mid-palate leads onto a creamy cherry fruit finish." Decanter
"The new Dal Forno winery was finished in 2008, complete with the unique vacuum-sealed fermentation tasks that help to avoid any intrusive oxygen during winemaking. Indeed, this wine is balanced and elegant with fruit that is still crunchy and very much alive. The tannins are firm and nicely integrated into the wine's thick, fleshy consistency. This vintage is characterized by a very elegant and graceful approach, which must be taken into context given the enormity of a wine of this caliber. Happily, there is no doubt that this vintage should still evolve steadily over time." Robert Parker
"The 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella is compelling. With a little air, the tannins begin to soften, releasing a myriad of intense dark aromas and flavors. Bittersweet chocolate, cloves, violets, plums and blackberry jam cover every inch of the palate in a stunning, headspinning Amarone that captures all of the best qualities of the year. When Romano Dal Forno's wines are on, there is nothing quite like them, and that is certainly the case here. If opened young, the 2008 needs a little air. Actually, a lot of air." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino “Rennina” DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
Rennina 2015 builds up on the palate in several layers: sensual fruit, paired with multi-layered impressions of forest soil, spices and tanned leather. On the palate it is soft and yet powerful, yet balanced, with an impeccable structure, underpinned by harmonious acidity, and with an extract sweet, almost feminine finish. Very appealing and a perfect reflection of a perfect vintage with the corresponding potential for the next decade. SUPERIORE.DE
"Astringent, firmly knitted, somewhat dried vegetable to tobacco and a little woody aroma of ripe, partly preserved black and red berries with a little dried herbs, plums, minerality and almost fleshy tones. Very firm in the mouth, ripe, juicy berry and cherry fruit, very slightly plummy tones, nutty and moderately woody tones, a little tobacco and tar, present, ripe, still very youthful tannin, dense and persistent on the palate, deep, multi-layered, yet hardly developed, restrained power, a little cocoa and pepper in the background, much melting, but also grip, compact build, very good to long, firm, tart finish with salty and smoky tones." Wein-Plus
"lush ruby with a slight garnet tinge. Rich and intense nose of plums and blackberries, some liquorice. Deep and powerful at the beginning, opens with present, dense tannin, in the final firm pressure." Falstaff
"Tasted blind. Deep ruby with bright orange tinges. Subdued, brooding, perfumed dark fruit with hints of pine. Eye-catching sweet-sour cherry fruit and juicy acidity with the tannins adding considerable muscle." Jancis Robinson
"The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina is dark and powerful in the glass, slowly opening with a display of crushed stone, cedar, mint, and a dusting of cumin, as its dark red fruits begin to unfurl in a captivating display. On the palate, silky textures offset tart cherry and blackberry fruits, balanced by a core of rounded tannins and lifting acidity, as hints of licorice and sweet herbal tones develope. The finish is medium in length and poised, showing fine-grain tannins beneath a sheen of polished red and black fruits, with hints of lavender lingering on. The 2015 Rennina is a classy wine that’s just begging for a few years in the cellar to fully blossom." Vinous
"Aromatic, evoking wild herb and balsamic notes of juniper, thyme and pine, along with flavors of black cherry, plum and iron. Firmly structured and fresh, offering a long, complex aftertaste. Unfolds pleasantly and maintains balance." Wine Spectator
"The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina is beautifully balanced and elegant. The wine is successfully streamlined and focused on the nuanced characteristics of the otherwise warm and sunny 2015 vintage. Rennina is often considered to be the more lithe and graceful of Gaja's two Brunellos. The bouquet opens to pretty berry nuances, blue flower, lavender, grilled herb and powdery licorice. Despite the more delicate approach, Rennina delivers ample power in the mouth with fresh acidity and tight tannins. I'd suggest opening this bottle at the 10-year mark." Robert Parker
"Extremely perfumed and pretty with dried berry, orange peel and fruit tea on the nose. Full-bodied, extremely tight and refined with superb tannin quality that shows polish, finesse and beauty. It goes on for minutes on the palate. One for the cellar. Best wine ever from here. Needs three or four years to come together." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Cerretalto” DOCG 2013
Deep dark velvety ruby red. Opulent bouquet of sour cherry, mulberry, slightly moist leaves and laurel. In addition the typical Neri spice after wood, tobacco and broom. On the palate, an open-hearted fruit paired with the precision of a monumental Brunello skeleton, which, in addition to fine sweetness, maintains a balance with the taut acid nerve and leads to an almost infinite finish. A class wine, as it rarely comes into our glass. SUPERIORE.DE
"Seductive nose with a potpourri of fruity, floral and spicy notes, cinnamon and plums above all; on the palate with well-balanced acidity and dense tannins, well-dosed mineral nuances, ending promising on notes of wild berries, leather and liquorice. Excellent Brunello, who can even gain with the ripeness." Vinum
"Sparkling, intense ruby with a slight garnet hue. Complex and appealing nose, intense dark, ripe cherry, some plum, then also notes of slate and liquorice. Powerful and powerful on the palate, reveals itself with much dense tannin, interwoven, much present fruit, in the final saturated pressure." Falstaff
"Deep luminous ruby-red. Spicy red cherry and mineral nuances on the nose and in the mouth. Enters fresh and juicy with noteworthy flesh and size to the red and blue fruit flavors, then suave and refined all the way onto the long refined finish. Closes with youthfully chewy tannins and a tactile mouthfeel offering hints of flinty minerals and raspberry. A brooding giant that is extremely elegant and refined. Very well done." VINOUS
"There’s a lot in this wine, in terms of complexity, that is all underpinned by concentrated, ripe and assertive red cherries. The oak is nicely placed and there’s a sense of purpose and build on the palate that really sets it apart. High-class tannins." James Suckling
"Youthful-looking mid ruby. Dark fruit with impressive depth and with a hint of gingerbread. Lovely, tangy dark-cherry fruit and loads of powdery tannins that are a little demanding right now. Needs much more age." Jancis Robinson
"This intense version is concentrated, with black cherry, blackberry, graphite, tobacco and spice flavors, yet remains light-footed due to the racy profile. Structured, yet beautifully balanced and youthful. Shows purity and length on the aftertaste, which introduces a floral component." Wine Spectator
"There are a handful of wines in Italy that make me nervous before I taste them because my expectations are so high. This is one of those wines. Indeed, previous editions of Cerretalto have earned the coveted 100 point score, and I am astutely aware of the pedigree and potential that comes forth with each new vintage. As enthusiastic as my assessment of the 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto is, I'm stopping short of that perfect score. This vintage is something of a moving target with wines that are beautiful, without a doubt, yet the growing conditions were not even across the appellation, and achieving optimal tannic management posed a challenge to many producers. If I were to make any criticism of this wine, it would fall along those lines. That aside, this is a beautiful Brunello that boasts deep intensity and bold black fruit flavors that are plummy and rich. Spice, toasted oak and tobacco frame that primary fruit. Cerretalto ages in oak for 30 months and that strong imprint has added to the structure, depth and contemporary character of this A-list Brunello. That oak imprint is also reinforced in the wine's tannins. There's no doubt that this wine needs more cellar aging. I would absolutely not suggest drinking it within the next five years. Any awkwardness it shows now should iron itself out with more bottle time." Robert Parker

Barolo “Mosconi” DOCG 2018 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Four years ago, Pio Boffa bought himself a "small" present for his 60th birthday. Not a new set of golf clubs, a picture hanging in the hall, a holiday for him and the family. No. Just a vineyard called Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba, a region of Piedmont where four generations of the Pio Cesare dynasty never gained a foothold. Originally, the grapes from the 10-hectare vineyard were to enhance the quality of his classic Barolo, but after the first barrel samples, it was unmistakably clear to Pio Boffa that this would be at least an equal - if stylistically different - counterpart to the hitherto undisputed flagship Ornato.
Mosconi is more light-footed than Ornato, with red rather than black fruits dominating the nose, along with irresistible liquorice and a juiciness that will immediately earn it a top place in the entire appellation. On the palate, it has a precision that is unparalleled, less punchy than Ornato, but more elegant and subtle. SUPERIORE.DE
"Another transparent ruby red with garnet reflections. Exciting bouquet with distinct notes of blood oranges and candied orange peel, plus finest Dominican tobacco and leather, dazzling and individual. Elegant palate with fresh, cherry-influenced fruit, grippy, punchy, finely chiselled style with silky firm tannin, plus salty mineral nuances in the long finish." Weinwisser
"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Almost explosive minerality on the nose with hints of sour cherry and a suggestion of savoury oak. Complex but still holding back on the nose. Gorgeous supple fruit with polished, finely ground but firm tannins, almost a little Serralunga-like. Bags to chew on and spectacular multi-layered aromas on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"Rich, with plum and cherry flavors, this Barolo also shows a savory side of eucalyptus, licorice and clove. Reveals viscosity to the texture as well as terrific balance. Ends with dense, refined tannins and lingering steeped fruit and savory notes." Wine Spectator
"Very compact both on the nose and palate, offering dried red berries and notes of truffle-tinged sous-bois and dried flowers. Full-bodied with a fine-tannin framework and a very long finish. Compact and solid. This needs plenty of time to open, but is showing real class. Try from 2025." James Suckling

“Luce” Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2014 · 6 Bottles in OWC
Single vineyard Barolo Ravera from 40 to 50 year old vines smells pure and intense of raspberries, strawberries and flowers. Full-bodied and silky on the palate, beautiful fruit, super fine tannins and a wonderful length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Beautiful flowery cherry nose that is still a little bit reductive. Balsamic hint and a touch of liquorice. Supple and with savoury minerally impact on the palate. Gorgeous balance between savoury fruit and firm, savoury tannins, like sucking ripe stalks." Jancis Robinson
"The Ravera cru of Novello is quietly growing in prestige and consistency. It is becoming one of the latest additions to an elite list of grand cru sites in the Barolo appellation. That quality is demonstrated in a difficult vintage such as this. The 2014 Barolo Ravera is a tight and polished expression with a glossy and gleaming personality. The fruit is fine-tuned and small in range, but it hits the senses with pinpoint precision. The wine shows the taut tightness of its youth and will flesh out with a few more years of cellar aging." Robert Parker
"Pure cherry and strawberry fruit graces this delicate Barolo. Elements of licorice, tar and mineral add complexity and there is adequate structure. Still, this should be approachable early for the light weight and balance." Wine Spectator
"Cogno's 2014 Barolo Ravera is tense and crystalline in feel, with striking translucence and a level of purity in its flavors and textures that is beguiling. The inner tension in the 2014 is simply alluring. Bright, red-toned fruit, floral overtones and piercing saline underpinnings all come to life in this compelling, deeply expressive Barolo from Elvio Cogno." Antonio Galloni
"The fruit and depth of this wine is very pretty. With brightness and transparency. Plums, and cherries with dried flowers and spices. Medium to full body, bright fruit and acidity. A powerful finish. A fantastic 2014. " James Suckling

“San Leonardo” Rosso Dolomiti IGT 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC
San Leonardo is the flagship of the eponymous winery and every year one of the best red wines of Trentino. Opulent bouquet with nuances of dark fruits like blackberry and sour cherry. Delicate spicy, leather and tobacco notes give it a terrific complexity, which is then extended on the palate by a harmonious play of dark berries, plums, the whole then flanked by clearly contoured tannin. A masterful red with a strong personality, which will rise to its true greatness after a few more years of bottle ageing and will live up to its reputation. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby. Ripe berry fruit, plus thyme, oregano and fine chocolate. Spicy herbs on the attack, some cardamom, salty, unfolds with firm, sturdy tannins, rich power, but also elegant and long." Falstaff
"This is very youthful and clearly has the structure underneath to go quite a distance. Great freshness and bite but not at all skinny. Much more aérienne than the average red bordeaux – on which it was originally modelled. Very long indeed." Jancis Robinson
"Notes of wet tobacco, dried earth, cumin, cedar and dried red plums form the basis of the nose. Structured and serious on the palate with just the right amount of fruit to balance out the backbone of firm, austere tannins." James Suckling
"San Leonardo is the iconic wine of the estate, and one of the most celebrated Bordeaux blends of Italy with its cool climate profile. The warm 2015 vintage doesn’t differ from the leaner style of the wine (compared to other Bordeaux blends), which is a good benchmark to understand the sense of elegance here. The nose sees purity of fruit (cassis) typical of Trentino Alto Adige, finely melted with leather and green pepper aromas. If you dislike wines with a slightly herbal aroma is understandable but here this touch adds another layer and the wine on the palate shines with silky, super elegant tannins. Refreshing and amazingly savoury, it plays well even with brasato or other powerful dishes of red meat." Decanter
"The 2015 San Leonardo is a classic in the making. The bouquet is wonderfully perfumed with peppery florals, mixing tart cherry and blueberry with white smoke, hints of graphite and shaved cedar. Silky textures race across a core of juicy acids and minerals, making for a ripe yet cool-toned and pleasurably tactile expression. Youthful tannins slowly make themselves known toward the close. Long, structured and spicy, the 2015 finishes with a crescendo of tart blue and black fruits, tapering off to notes of subtly sweet spice. As good as this is today, it will only get better over time. That said, it doesn’t appear that this is going to shut down anytime in the immediate future, so it’s certainly worth checking on a bottle or two before forgetting the rest in your cellar." Vinous
"The 2015 San Leonardo pours forth with a beautiful velvety appearance and sultry dark garnet color. This wine shows a lot of life and dark fruit purity with black plum, blackberry, cassis and tarry prune. There is a delightful note of black pepper that is specific to this warm and sunny vintage. The fruit shows softer and richer concentration compared to past vintages and more pulpy density that gives this edition a bigger profile in terms of mouthfeel. San Leonardo is a wine made for long aging, but the nice thing about this vintage is that the bouquet remains quite accessible at this young age. Nevertheless, I'd still suggest keeping this bottle in your cellar so that it can calmly finish its evolution." Robert Parker

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC
Le Potazzine is known for its purer interpretation of the Sangiovese grape than elsewhere in the appellation. Thus the 2015 vintage offers a maximum of originality, authenticity and at the same time an unprecedented personality. In the bouquet red roses, forest soil and mushrooms. On the palate, it has a strong, enchanting rusticity, but at the same time, with each sip (and with good aeration), it reveals its depth and complexity. Enormous drinking flow and enthusiasm all along the line in the long, profound final! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with lots of garnets. Very compact nose, ripe cherry fruit, with some cloves, appealing. Full-bodied and pithy in the beginning and course, opens with firm, handy tannin, juicy fruit, in the final with bite." Falstaff
"Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Leafy cherry fruit that is still compact and a little closed. Generous sour-cherry fruit and the tannins are persistent but never dominate the fruit. Muscular structure reveals itself even more on the finish, but the whole strikes a near-perfect balance." Jancis Robinson
"A refined and fruity red with plums, oyster shell and porcini mushrooms that follow through to a full body. Tight and powerful with gorgeous fruit and richness." James Suckling
"Fragrant and elegantly structured, this opens with aromas of woodland berry, iris, new leather and wild aromatic herb. The taut, linear palate delivers juicy Morello cherry, ripe pomegranate, crushed mint and star anise framed in firm, polished tannins. Boasting some of the highest vineyards in the denomination, it retains great freshness and balance." Wine Enthusiast
"Le Potazzine 's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is fabulous. The bouquet is showing an earthy display, with smoky minerals and dark soil tones up front, evolving with time in the glass, as crushed black cherry mixes with wild, savory herbs and dried dusty florals. On the palate, gorgeously ripe red fruits are balanced by a mix of saline-minerals, savory spice and zesty acidity, as fine tannin slowly mounts beneath its pretty inner floral tones. The finish is long with a salty-savory twang of minerals and spice, as hints of hard red candies and a bit of citrus lingers over a core of tannic heft. There is so much to like about the 2015, from its classic and earthy bouquet to its fleshy yet balanced palate and totally classic finish. Simply stunning and so pleasurable." Vinous
"The Le Potazzine 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is immediately bright and energized. The wine is sprightly and lively. This is an elegantly medium-weight wine, but everything is in exactly the right place. Fresh acidity and snappy fruit flavors are followed by lighter touches of rose petal, cardamon, camphor ash and powdered licorice. These aromas are stacked tall and proud. Of special interest is that point of zesty medicinal herb that reminds you of the relatively cool climate and high-altitude positioning of Le Potazzine's vineyards. These special conditions are exactly why this wine performs so nicely in a warm vintage like 2015. The coolness of the growing site offsets the temperatures of the growing season." Robert Parker

Barolo Brunate DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
Deep, full red with a fine sheen. The La Morra edition from Vietti's famous Barolo family impresses with an impressive aroma of red berries, cherries, wild herbs, mint, minerals and rose petals, rounded off with a hint of blood orange. On the palate, it is opulent, full, with fine sweetness and structure, and the multilayered, long final is accompanied by almost aristocratic tannin. A typical Vietti Cru with a lot of class. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby. Firm yet closed on the nose. Quite pure cherry on the palate followed by muscular but polished, coating tannins. Concentrated yet elegant and finely balanced. Powerfully structured finish with plenty of fruit to match." Jancis Robinson
"The 2015 Barolo Brunate is powerful and dense in the glass, with plenty of Brunate tannin that enshrouds the palate. Iron, smoke, grilled herb, menthol and spice notes add complexity to the dark, sepia-toned fruit. The 2015 is a baby. It will benefit from several years in bottle and then drink well to age 25-30, perhaps beyond. This is the first vintage made from Vietti's expanded holdings following the acquisition of a parcel that formerly went to Andrea Oberto." Vinous
"This savory red delivers balsamic aromas and flavors of wild rosemary, juniper, eucalyptus and tobacco, revolving around a core of cherry, strawberry, graphite and licorice notes. Firm and sinewy on the finish, with an aftertaste of ripe, sweet fruit. Excellent length." Wine Spectator
"This has a rather reserved nose with dried-herb, rosehip, potpourri and light cedary aromas, ahead of fragrant dried cherries. The palate has quite dense and smoothly rendered, ripe tannins that deliver a long, composed and approachable Barolo." James Suckling
"This is an explosive and absolutely exuberant expression of Nebbiolo from a vineyard site in La Morra near M. Marengo’s property. Vietti farms two parcels here, a higher side of the vineyard and a lower one (near Damilano and Ceretto). These lower parts of Brunate perform very nicely in the cooler vintages. Instead, this warm vintage expression puts a lot of its fruit depth and personality upfront in a confident and no-fuss manner. You absolutely know what you are getting here, even at the first sniff of the bouquet. The wine proceeds to open and blossom before your nose, offering dark fruit, rose, spice and a very linear mineral tone at the back. That linear flinty note is just terrific." Robert Parker

Brunello di Montalcino “Montosoli” DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC
Montosoli lovers will be anything but disappointed by the archetype of the 2016 vintage. In this exceptional year, this special single vineyard shows a beautifully fragrant and floral bouquet that exactly meets the expectations of connoisseurs. Thus, for us, this edition represents the ideal interpretation of grape variety and terroir like hardly any other. The Sangiovese grape sounds bright and audible here from the glass - with nuances of small berries and floral impressions of rose, violet and lavender. In the drink, its complexity and multi-layeredness is rounded off by subtle notes of anise, cola and liquorice sticks. This fabulous wine, which is already inspiring, is always balancingly soft and silky and will - even if one hardly thinks it possible - gain in refinement and expression after a few more years of ageing! SUPERIORE.DE
"Seductive raspberry-scented wine with juice and polish; pithy on the palate, acidity well integrated, tight yet noticeable tannins, pleases with its polish, demonstrates finesse through to the final. With a hearty bistecca." Vinum
"Lustrous ruby. Concentrated cherry nose with an earthy, minerally note and a hint of gingerbread. With aeration more and more minerally. Tangy gentle fruit with the merest suggestion of oak. Gorgeous chewy tannins. Very suave, supple and elegant." Jancis Robinson
"Altesino has been producing a separate bottling from the cru of Montosoli since 1975, though the vines were partially replanted in 2005 and 2016. If Altesino's estate Brunello is almost accessible already, the polished yet intense Montosoli needs time in the cellar to demonstrate its potential. The nose is discreet with violet, bramble and bay leaf taking on earthy, savoury tones as it sits in the glass. Tight and firmly fastened, the palate fuses stony notes of granite with dark cherry. Ageing is in 30hL casks of Slavonian oak." Decanter
"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli pulls you close to the glass with a captivating display of candied citrus rinds, incense and dried roses giving way to rich cherry sauce and a hint of brown spice. It's deeply textural yet youthfully dense, as it first cools the palate with lavender and ripe dark red fruits; yet beneath is a layer of grippy tannins that close the wine down. Notes of licorice, black tea and purple florals linger on the youthfully chewy finale. The 2016 is just a baby today, and it will need a number of years to come fully into focus - but it will be worth the wait." Vinous
"The Altesino 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli is a true beauty. The wine reveals dark fruit intensity that comes forth as blackberry, plum and summer cherry. In no time, those aromas shift to the savory side of the spectrum with smoke, tar and tobacco. The results are generous and layered, offering the best of what the celebrated Montosoli cru can offer, especially in an ironic vintage such as this." Robert Parker
"Lovely sweet cherries and heather with some leather and balsamic undertones. It's full-bodied with a velvety and lightly dusty palate. Juicy fruit and pretty orange peel to the berry character. Hints of cedar and meat at the end. Subtle and complex." James Suckling
"Rose, forest berry, underbrush and new leather are some of the aromas you'll find on this full-bodied red. From one of Montalcino's greatest vineyard sites, the firmly structured, elegant palate is also delicious, boasting ripe black cherry, raspberry compote, tobacco and licorice set against taut, fine-grained tannins. It's well balanced, with bright acidity." Wine Enthusiast
"Packed with sweet, ripe cherry, plum and raspberry fruit and framed by loamy earth and woodsy notes, this red is intense, lively and light on its feet. Balanced, with firm tannins and a salty, minerally impression on the lingering aftertaste." Wine Spectator

Limitation of 2 articles per customerBarolo Lazzarito DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC
Barolo Lazzarito impresses every year by its precision and class - two characteristics that are not often found in the Nebbiolo of the Serralunga region. Iron, smoke and white pepper flow into the nose, in the glass these impressions are extended by a touch of pomegranate, red cherry jam, wild flowers and blood orange. Viettis Lazzarito always stands for strength and finesse and has been in no way inferior to his "colleagues" from Ravera and Rocche for quite some time. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby. Dark and brooding nose of great depth. Generous and mouth-filling fruit and plenty of acidity adding freshness. A big layer of finely stitched tannins adds structure to the ripe fruit. Concentrated and deep." Jancis Robinson
"This powerful expression of an important Serralunga vineyard is aged both in barriques and large casks. It's deep in colour and shows lush, meaty aromas that at present lack finesse. It's very opulent and savoury on the palate, assertive without being astringent, and has imposing balance and length." Decanter
"The 2015 Barolo Lazzarito is one of the highlights in this range from Vietti. The power and gravitas of Serralunga come through loud and clear in a deep, beautifully resonant Barolo loaded with character. Iron, smoke, sage, menthol, licorice and rose petal give the Lazzarito its beguiling aromatic complexity. The massive tannins need time to soften, but there is a lot to look forward to once that happens." Vinous
"Rich and multifaceted, sporting cherry, raspberry, green tea, iron and tobacco flavors. The sweet fruit is matched to firm, dense tannins and the finish turns austere for now. Everything is in the right proportions, but patience is required." Wine Spectator
"This is a very youthful Barolo that has attractive, fragrant perfume with freshly picked roasting herbs and a strong, central thread of ripe cherries and red plums. The pure and concentrated palate frames intense plum and cherry flavors in long, unwavering tannins that deliver rich, strong and seamless into the finish. Exceptional quality and built for aging." James Suckling
"Opening to a beautifully floral bouquet, the 2015 Barolo Lazzarito delivers fragrant tones of violets, wild rose and a touch of orange blossom. As is the norm at Vietti, I tasted this wine and then wrote this review based on impressions gained from two samples—one opened several hours before my tasting and one opened at the moment of my review. Those floral notes came forth with increased intensity and clarity in the bottle that had been opened longer. The bouquet continues to surprise with touches of black fruit and freshly milled white pepper. However, like many wines from Serralunga d’Alba, this expression from Lazzarito reveals a pretty inner paradox. Those ethereal and balsamic aromas cede to a dense and rich mouthfeel, characterized by structure and power. Those two sides of the wine reach beautiful parity and lasting harmony." Robert Parker

Barolo Ravera DOCG 2017 · 6 Bottles in OWC
Barolo Ravera comes from a single vineyard with almost 50-year-old vines. In the glass, it impresses with a strong, aromatic opening aroma. Bright, precise and finely chiselled, the Ravera captures all the goodness the vintage has to offer. Cherry, sweet mint, candy and expressive floral notes get an extra kick of inner sweetness from the Ravera's natural energy. There is so much to look forward to as the wine develops over the next few years! SUPERIORE.DE
"Mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Glorious nose of perfumed, intensely lifted cherry. Hints of black pepper and minerally stony notes. Compact, embryonic and concentrated fruit on the palate with bags of powdery tannins and succulent acidity. Great balance and length. Lots of potential." Jancis Robinson
"The 2017 Barolo Ravera is a beautiful, precise wine. Bright acids and veins of tannin give the 2017 terrific energy that carries all the way through to the finish. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, chalk, white pepper and spice all open with a bit of coaxing. This is very nicely done." Vinous
"A tightly wound, linear red, this reveals steeped cherry and plum flavors, with shadings of tar, eucalyptus and licorice. The dense matrix of tannins rules the finish, yet this shows nice equilibrium overall." Wine Spectator
"Cherry and candied strawberry with flowers and some dried earth. Full-bodied, layered and chewy. Lots of wet earth and mushroom to the red fruit." James Suckling
"The Ravera cru is seeing renewed energy and interest, thanks to the hard work of the Elvio Cogno team. They believed in Novello from the very beginning, and today a wine like the 2017 Barolo Ravera shows special confidence and pride. This pretty Barolo made with a blend of Nebbiolo clones (Lampia and Michet) reveals a slow succession of aromas with dark cherry and blackberry. The results are lasting, contoured and beautifully focused, thanks to mineral notes of rusty iron or brick. Nuanced notes of licorice and campfire ash round off the finish." Robert Parker
"Made by the estate that put this celebrated cru on the map, and showing an enviable combination of elegance and power, this stunning wine opens with aromas of wild berries, underbrush, dark spice and balsamic notes of cedar and new leather. The tense, savory palate is loaded with youthful energy, showing succulent Marasca cherry, raspberry, cinnamon and star anise framed in tightly knit, refined tannins and surprisingly bright acidity for the vintage. A mineral note suggesting iron adds depth to the close." Wine Enthusiast
