The owner of Selvapiana, Francesco Giuntini, and the owner of the Petrognano winery, Cecilia Galeotti Ottieri, have been friends for a long time. Their small winery on the border between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna is located in the centre of the Pomino DOC, which was first mentioned in a document in 1716 and is one of the first four protected appellations in Tuscany (alongside Rufina Classico, Carmignano and Valdarno Superiore).

Between La Morra and Verduno, the vineyards of Rivalta tell another facet of the Ascheri story. Here, at an altitude of 350 metres, Matteo Ascheri has been cultivating the indigenous grape varieties that characterise the true face of Piedmont for generations. Barbera epitomises Matteo's unmistakable signature: purity without frills, tradition without stubbornness. Vinification follows Ascheri's tried and tested philosophy: six months of ageing in a balanced mixture of used and new oak barrels, which gives the wine structure without masking its lively fruitiness. The result is a Barbera of remarkable harmony, reflecting both the elegance of the Langhe vineyards and the characteristic bite of this great Piedmontese grape variety.

Lupo is made from 100% Sangiovese from very old clones that produce a lighter style of red wine that was common in the 1960s and 1970s. Preserved cherries, orange peel, white pepper, crushed stones and chalk give this light to medium-bodied red wine an attractive upper flavour register that underlines its decidedly taut and nervous personality. The vines for this fresh Müller-Thurgau grow under Guyot training in south/southwest-facing hilly locations at 500 to 800 metres above sea level, on soils consisting of clay and weathered porphyry. Rich yellow-green colour, intense aromas of fruit, flowers and light nutty notes. On the palate, fruit depth, delicate mineral-salty notes and well-integrated acidity lend powerful elegance and character. SUPERIORE.DE

Laura Bianchi's Monsanto Rosso is a 100% Sangiovese and comes from the vineyards in the south-western part of the estate, where Galestro (friable marl) combines with a marked concentration of tufa, a volcanic seabed that releases fossils from the Cretaceous period over time. These soils, which are particularly rich in phosphorus, magnesium, potassium and limestone, give the wine greater complexity and a more characteristic flavour, beautifully articulated fruit and wonderful freshness. Brò is a white wine from sustainable cultivation that is hard to beat in terms of freshness, elegance and enjoyment. The grapes come from the clay and limestone soils near Fiumana di Predappio. Pale straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, a captivating blend of crushed stones, spiced orange peel, dried apricot and peach, mixed with herbal elements. A small lake, over 60 animal species, some of them rare, and in the middle of it all: 30 hectares of Turbiana vines (Trebbiano di Soave). Oasi Mantellina in Pozzolengo is the Allegrini family's latest chapter, a commitment to one of the most exciting white wine appellations in northern Italy. The soils here differ from classic Lugana: sandier, interspersed with gravel. The result is wines with lively acidity instead of heavy minerality. After gentle pressing, the 2024 matures for four months in steel, followed by two months in the bottle.

The name is a reference: the Brenta, the river that runs through the Veneto region from the Alps to the lagoon – sometimes gently, sometimes with vigour. The wine is very similar. 55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon from the best vineyards of the Breganze DOC, on volcanic-tuff soil. Hand-picked, maceration for several days, fermentation in steel tanks. During ageing, the wine is divided: one half remains in steel, the other matures for twelve months in French barriques – one third of which is new.

Marzemino is an indigenous Venetian grape related to Refosco and Teroldego. Intense ruby red in colour with clear, purple-red reflections. In the glass, it has a fragrant and generous aroma of ripe red cherries and blackberries. The palate reveals a finely tuned harmony and an enveloping softness, enlivened by a cheerful, fresh acidity that leads to a very respectable finish full of character. Mastroberardino's Fiano di Avellino is a characterful white wine from high-altitude vineyards around Lapio, Montefalcione and Summonte – classic areas of origin for this noble grape variety. The volcanic soils and continental climate give the wine its typical tension and depth. Straw yellow in the glass with golden reflections. White flowers, hazelnut, ripe citrus fruit, yellow apple and a hint of honey on the nose. Dense and clear on the palate, with lively acidity, salty minerality and a fine melt. Rosso di Montepulciano Prugnolo is lively and fresh with a burst of wild strawberries, lavender and violets. It is juicy and fruit-driven, with plenty of tart raspberry and sweet herbs enlivened by zesty acidity. Leaves the palate with primary concentration and spice, while finishing gently tannic and refined. This is a fantastic achievement and a great introduction to the Boscarelli style. SUPERIORE.DE

Pale straw yellow with greenish inclusions. Restrained, elegant bouquet of apple, mango and peach. Almost distinguished and aristocratic on the palate, with the savoury aftertaste of hazelnut and light fruit typical of the Nosiola grape variety. Finishes with an admirable length and is incredibly fresh, crisp and flavoursome, ending with a salty sensation. With its zesty acidity, ideal with light meat dishes or shellfish. SUPERIORE.DE

For decades, Margreid has been considered the Merlot Eldorado of South Tyrol – and Alois Lageder as its master. On the gentle slopes between 230 and 320 metres above sea level, where the first international vines were planted back in 1934, Merlots of impressive clarity are produced. The bouquet reveals intense notes of wild berries and plums, interspersed with fine spices and a hint of graphite. Nocera - this noble vine is only grown on a few hectares in the province of Messina, on a spectacular vineyard surrounded by the sea. Bright garnet red in colour, with an original aroma of white pepper, cherries, geranium and summer fruits. The typical fresh, fruity flavour of this old Sicilian grape is convincing. Delicate pale old rose colour, apricot, yellow fruit and pink grapefruit on the nose. Very juicy and clear on the palate, with dancing acidity, a fine stony feel, pure and balanced. Delicate and fresh with a gentle structure that makes this impressively elegant rosato made predominantly from Merlot the perfect accompaniment to mild Mediterranean dishes and seafood. On the Löwenpass, where merchants once crossed paths, wines of pure drinking pleasure are produced today. Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco Bastia comes from high-altitude, organically farmed plots on the Bastia hills in Monforte d'Alba. The exposed location at an altitude of around 500 metres and calcareous marl soils give the grapes freshness, fine minerality and aromatic clarity. Bright purple-red colour with violet reflections. Juicy black cherry, ripe plum and a hint of blueberry on the nose, accompanied by delicate almond notes and a hint of violet. Dry, supple and harmonious on the palate, with ripe fruit, moderate acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. Serrocielo is the elegant cru version of Falanghina – vinified from selected parcels around Benevento, whose altitude and limestone-clay soils give the grape variety expression and finesse. Pale straw yellow in colour with silvery reflections. Precise aromas of lime zest, white peach, herbs and a hint of wet chalk on the nose. Straightforward and delicately flavoured on the palate, with mineral tension, well-integrated acidity and a delicate melting finish. Maturation in stainless steel tanks preserves the purity, while the selective hand-picking ensures depth. A single-vineyard Soave as it should be: pure Garganega from vines over thirty years old on volcanic soils in Colognola ai Colli. The Castagnedi brothers press the whole grapes under nitrogen and use dry ice to preserve the aromas even before fermentation – a technique that demands precision and rewards character. Six months on the fine lees give the wine depth without taking away its freshness.

The vines for this Chardonnay grow on volcanic rock in the Pianezzi, Coveli, Molini and Palai parcels at an altitude of 300-750 metres. Straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. Intense fruity nose of apple, banana and pineapple, with a hint of flint and hay. Open and round flavour with well-integrated acidity and mineral-sour citrus notes. The Palai area is one of the most representative areas for the production of Müller-Thurgau in Italy due to its microclimatic characteristics and the influence of the Cembra and Isarco valleys. In order to preserve its varietal characteristics (aromas and natural antioxidants), the grapes are processed using the hyper-reduction technique (in the absence of oxygen) developed and patented by the company.
