"Appius 2012 Alto Adige is a sophisticated blend of 65% Chardonnay, 15% Sauvignon, 10% Pinot Grigio and 10% Pinot Bianco. This wine goes beyond the idea of varietal voice, as all these different grapes form a seamless whole. You can feel the structure of the Chardonnay with the bright flavours of the Sauvignon. Nevertheless, it is difficult to recognise a single grape variety. The bouquet smells of peach, preserved lemon, pear and lightly toasted almonds." Wine Advocate

"2013 Alto Adige Appius consists mainly of Chardonnay (55%) with 25% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Pinot Grigio and 10% Pinot Bianco. Kudos to the winemaking team at San Michele Eppan for creating such a convincing and satisfying cuvée. Opens with a mild golden colour and brilliant persistence in the light. The bouquet is characterised by elegant notes of honey, stone fruit, tropical papaya and mango. It offers a spectacular level of fragrant intensity. The mouthfeel is soft, silky and long, with medium richness and lingering creaminess. The 14% alcohol is well integrated into the texture of the wine. Only 6,000 bottles were produced." "The wine has a brilliant, golden colour with bright rays of sunlight shining from within. There is a hint of flint at the start, but this quickly dissipates.
