The grapes come from high slopes near Monforte d'Alba from the historic Pian Romualdo parcel. Soils characterised by limestone and marl with sandy veins, noticeable day-night amplitudes and strict yield limits provide concentrated, pure harvest. The year 2022 passed without any notable restrictions: a warm, dry summer with reduced yields, followed by beneficial rainfall and cool nights in autumn. This resulted in ripe phenolics, dense fruit and a clear, supporting acidity that high-altitude sites preserve particularly well.

Dense ruby red colour with a lively core and fine purple rim. Ripe black cherry and plum on the nose, along with blackberry, violet and a cool, stony-mineral tone; very finely interwoven spice with hints of liquorice, cocoa and a touch of cedar. Juicy and full-bodied on the palate, yet elegantly guided: Lively, well-integrated acidity spans the spectrum, fine-grained, silky tannins provide contour. The fruit remains pure and deep, the use of wood only serves as a finishing touch. Long, harmonious finish with salty minerality and a hint of dark chocolate.
