The historical jewel of the house is the Bricco dell'Uccellone: dense and complex bouquet, tannic and persistent in taste, with excellent structure, acidity and persistence. SUPERIORE.DE

"Shows cloves and vanilla, which are well mixed into aromas of dried blackberries and licorice. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a medium-long finish." James Suckling

With tireless dedication, the Bologna family fulfils the legacy of Giacomo Bologna, who is rightly considered the father of modern Barbera d'Asti. The historical jewel of the house is the Bricco dell'Uccellone: dense and complex bouquet, tannic and persistent on the palate, with an excellent structure and a beautiful acidity and persistence of taste. SUPERIORE.DE

"A very ripe yet impressive style of Barbera with vanilla, blackberry crumble, eucalyptus, tar, mocha and coffee beans. Very structured and full-bodied on the palate, but beautiful acidity cuts right through the plush dark fruit. Long and serious on the finish. Superb as always. Drink from 2021." James Suckling

"One of the wines that changed the modern history of Italian wine, this expression from Braida is an evergreen favorite. The 2017 Barbera d'Asti Bricco dell'Uccellone is a dark and almost impenetrable expression with bold layers of thick, dark fruit. The wine is constructed like a little tower, layer upon layer, that rises tall with momentum and power. The intensity is beautiful, and that's always been the defining trait of Uccellone. It drinks beautifully now, but it will hold its own in the cellar." Robert Parker

“Bricco della Bigotta” Barbera d’Asti DOC 2016 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Bricco della Bigotta smells of cherries, cinnamon and a hint of tobacco. On the palate great finesse and harmonious balance between acidity and alcohol. Sounds long with character and class. SUPERIORE.DE

"Shows lots of clove character as well as cumin, black pepper and morello cherries. Full-bodied and quite dense, but shows good tension and structure." James Suckling

    • "Ai Suma" Barbera d'Asti DOCG 2017 <br>6 Bottles in OWC

“Ai Suma” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2017 · 6 Bottles in OWC

Very intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Rich and complex bouquet, with numerous hints of fruit and behind it notes of vanilla, liquorice and cocoa. Full, powerful, full of character, yet elegant and sensual taste, harmonious and very persistent. SUPERIORE.DE

"Here's a wine that seems to have absorbed the heat and bounty of the vintage with great success. The Braida 2017 Barbera d'Asti Ai Suma offers terrific balance and tension. There is a lot of black fruit here to be sure, and you taste pretty oak spice, tar and leather from the aging process. The wine finishes with a point of sweetness, like a candied cherry aroma, but the natural acidity of the grape kicks in to add a pinch of freshness on the close, making you seriously consider a risotto with porcini."
