“Capitel Foscarino” Bianco Veneto IGT 2022
The aromatically fresh Capitel Foscarino made from Garganega and a pinch of Chardonnay is delicious. Brilliant colour in the glass, beguiling fruit on the nose, round and harmonious on the palate with wonderfully integrated acidity and beautiful length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright yellow, speckled with green. Allusions to stones and fruit are wrapped behind cedar edges. A certain phenolic richness also contributes to a textural lattice that promises a bright future given the sheer density of the material. The finish is long, grippy and slightly salty." James Suckling
"Aromas of ripe stone fruits, lemon oil, jasmine and sweet spice lead you into the glass. Rounded, but with an electric core, the palate shows tart apricot, dried yellow flowers, roasted nuts and a distinct and complex mineral structure that captivates the senses." Wine Enthusiast
"From the mythological Foscarino hill, one of the heirlooms of the Classico zone, Garganega with a small percentage of Chardonnay, iconic and highly recognisable. White melon on the nose, notes of Mediterranean scrub, eucalyptus and camomile." Luca Gardini

Roberto Anselmi's winery is actually located in the highest areas of the Soave DOC. But because the prices of the wines coming from this region of origin steadily fell and their quality continued to deteriorate, the winegrower from Monteforte d'Alpone, to say goodbye to the Soave Consortium at the turn of the millennium. The headstrong landowner is no friend of compromise. In his vineyards on Monte Foscarino and in other important growing areas, he focuses on low yields and prefers dense trellis planting to traditional pergola cultivation. The result is a variety of wines that perfectly reflect the terroir of the hills near Verona. Roberto's bottlings, which are mostly made from Garganega and marketed as Veneto IGT under the Lagenname, continue to set standards even after he renounced the designation of origin. An important reason: Roberto prefers calcareous and volcanic soils instead of mass to class. The exemplary work carried out in the vineyard and in the well-equipped cellar earned the Veneto winery the reputation of a jewel in the Italian wine landscape.
After completing his university studies, Roberto Anselmi joined his father's winery in 1975 to make wine from his own grapes. His grandfather had already been a passionate winemaker. However, due to the economic crisis triggered by the Second World War, he had had to sell all his vineyards. Today's landowner is not a friend of improvisation, but a successful manager. He is supported by his two children Lisa and Tommaso, whose responsibility has noticeably increased. Due to Roberto's extensive knowledge of wine, the trio is always able to convince with wise and far-sighted actions that often contradict current ideas and, last but not least, have an extremely beneficial effect on the production of the complex and fruity estate wines. With his work, the dynamic winemaker has also made a significant contribution to the valorisation and development of the growing area and the white Garganega grape, which is very widespread in Veneto.
The Azienda Agricola Anselmi was founded by the leader of the Italian sommelier association AIS, Duemilavini. 'Winery of the year 2011' was chosen. The style and class of the winery, which, in addition to the main grape variety, also focuses on several other grape varieties, can also be seen in the unusual furnishings with sculptures and beautiful furniture, enhanced by the living room atmosphere in the barrique and wooden crate warehouse. SUPERIORE.DE
"Roberto Anselmi is the soul of the largest winery of Monteforte d'Alpone, which made the high quality of Veronese white wines internationally known for the first time and which has remained a reference point for the region even today despite its denomination ... Despite the large numbers, the historic labels have never been removed."Gambero Rosso
