Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC 2021
Deep ruby red colour with a violet hue. Clean, intense and persistent on the nose, with notes of red fruits, blackberries and sour cherries. Full and fruity on the palate, with notes of tobacco and liquorice on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark and tangy, with a lush core of blackberry, mulberry and boysenberry fruit flavors, revealing accents of oolong tea leaf and spiced orange peel. Shows taut, fine tannins that impart a tightly meshed feel, but this is silky and balanced overall, opening nicely on the palate and in the glass." Wine Spectator
"Aromas and flavours of berries and cherries, along with hints of rose petals and fruit tea. Medium-bodied with slightly abrasive tannins and a chalky mouthfeel on the finish." James Suckling

“Spelt” Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Superiore DOC 2022 (BIO)
Rich, full-bodied and typical of the variety, Spelt Rosato has an intense aroma and a fruity, dry flavour, a slender acid wire and a clear, energetic, full-bodied final. SUPERIORE.DE
"The nose is fresh yet salty, as notes of watermelon and cherry are balanced by subtle undertones of tar and leather. The fruit notes define the palate, but plentiful acid and prominent tannins emphasize the saltiness to maintain balance." Wine Enthusiast
"The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Superiore Spelt 2022 is a deep red wine with orange-coloured reflections. It opens in the glass with a bouquet of sweet spices, rose petals and dusty dried cherries. It feels silky, almost heavy, with a nervous acidity that balances a cascade of ripe strawberries and candied citrus, stimulating the senses with savoury tension. The 2022 finishes with dramatic length, showing a forgivable hint of spiciness as red liquorice notes linger. This is a powerful interpretation of Cerasuolo Spelt, but one that is very balanced." Vinous
"Sparkling, intense cherry pink colour. A nose of beetroot, carrots and fresh cherries, paired with fine salty and earthy tones. Beautiful juiciness on the palate, well-integrated, albeit noticeable tannins, savoury fruit with considerable length. A great accompaniment to food." Falstaff
"Deep cherry red in colour. Wonderful aromas of raspberries and red cherries pour from the glass. Very inviting. Medium body with a super fresh raspberry flavour, spiced up with additional notes of blood orange and aniseed. Crisp and very flavoursome finish. Excellent summer fare and not just as an aperitif. Top Italian rosé made from selected Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grapes." James Suckling

“Spelt Oro” Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Superiore DOC 2021 (BIO)
High-quality Trebbiano Superiore with structure and beautiful correspondence between aroma and taste. Convincing with fresh-spicy to sweet aromas and a crisp-fresh finish, this organically produced white is quite a joy to drink! SUPERIORE.DE
"Richly shining light gold. In the nose of squeezed lemon and lemon pieces as well as fresh pineapple, reminiscent of fresh resin, plus sea salt and rosemary. Juicy on the palate, with pronounced fruit and well-integrated acidity, savoury, spans a nice arc, also slightly floral in the mid-palate, dry, slightly phenolic finish." Falstaff
"An impressive Trebbiano, also from organic farming. Yellow plum on the nose, with hints of wild sage and hawthorn, crisp and salty on the finish, with balsamic and fruity hints, a clear snapshot of the great potential of the area." Luca Gardini

“Spelt” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2020
Deep dark Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva with a beguiling aroma of dark red cherries and berries, earthy notes, grilled hazelnuts, spices and liquorice. "A mouthful of wine" in an incredibly appealing style. Spelt has remarkable concentration and outstanding length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red colour. Nose of graphite, ripe cherries, wild berries, a hint of dried rose petal and rubber. Clear on the palate, with clear fruit and beautiful juiciness, shows compact tannins, drinks even better slightly chilled." Falstaff
"The 2020 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva Spelt is dark and earthy in the glass, with undergrowth and crushed stones giving way to black cherries and spice. This is round and silky in feel, with ripe wild berry fruits and spices that cascade throughout. Plum and medicinal blackberry linger as the 2020 tapers off long, lightly structured, yet relatively fresh. Well done." Vinous
"Very cedary on the nose at first, so give it a swirl to allow the rich red fruit and floral notes to give you a proper introduction to this full-bodied and solid red. The cedary element is present throughout, but there’s plenty of fruit to counter it. Firm tannins kick in midway and give some astringency to finish, which will smoothen with some more time in bottle." James Suckling

“Binomio” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2019
Binomio Riserva is a bold and very successful experiment by Fattoria La Valentina in collaboration with Azienda Agricola Inama. A fine selection of Montepulciano grapes from vineyards at altitudes of up to 400 metres, matured in barriques, this wine manages the balancing act between tradition, fidelity to type and modernity. The bouquet is complex and smoky with appetising aromas of sour cherry, while the taste is powerful and elegant, well tolerating the concentrated tannins and the alcohol component. SUPERIORE.DE
"This wine offers the richness and density one should expect from the Montepulciano grape, but it also displays sweet flavours reminiscent of blackberry, coffee and cherry tart. This sweetness is accompanied by spices and even a hint of cheese rind or white chocolate. The Binomio 2019 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva has a very creamy, almost milky quality." Wine Advocate
"The nose blends fruit notes of raspberry and strawberry with savory aromas of fresh grass, wild fennel and cured meat. That meatiness flourishes on the palate, but the fruit lingers to maintain a pleasing tension. Tannins provide structure as the acid finds its footing." Wine Enthusiast
"An intriguing nose of red berries, decadent red apples, dried tobacco, roses and rich earth. Medium to full-bodied with perfectly integrated tannins that provide a slightly velvety base for the bright fruit and spice flavours that run through the long, long finish. Few red wines from the Montepulciano grape are able to offer this level of complexity, combined with light-footed elegance and balance. Exquisite. Benchmark." James Suckling

“Bellovedere” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Terre dei Vestini Riserva DOC 2016
Dense, deep red, in the nose forest fruits, ripe red berries and sweet-spicy notes. On the palate elegant, soft, almost creamy, rich, with fine tannin, pronounced body and an optimal balance between alcoholic potency, freshness and fruit and with a furious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2016 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva Bellovedere is dark yet elegant, with an inviting bouquet of blackberries, crushed violets, exotic spice and hints of camphor. This is silky in texture with a savory, almost-salty display of wild berries and minerals, all balanced by brisk acids. You can hardly feel its fine-grained tannins settling in until the very end, as the palate aches under the Bellovedere’s youthful structure, with echoes of licorice and black fruits lingering long. That said, the balance here is on point, and all the 2016 needs is a few more years of cellaring to really shine." Vinous
"Aromas of dark fruit, mushrooms, flowers and spices. It’s full-bodied with chewy tannins. Chalky texture in the mouth. Juicy and spicy. Flavorful finish with some length." James Suckling
"This rich red offers a cohesive mix of cigar box spice, menthol, hoisin sauce and brandy-soaked blackberries. It's densely packed in fruit and spice flavors on the full-bodied palate, yet balanced well by a polished sheen of tannins and plenty of fresh acidity. Showing ample power and concentration, this would hold well in the cellar." Wine Enthusiast
"Lovely nose, fragrant with a great purity, showing notes of dark cherries, cinnamon and hints of tobacco with leathery undertones. Very elegant and complex palate." Decanter

“Binomio Collezione” Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOC 2017
The extremely successful "Binomio" joint venture between Fattoria La Valentina and Azienda Agricola Inama is entering a new round. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the La Valentina winery, a new wine was born, which is only produced in the best vintages and in limited small editions.
2017 was a very hot year and in some areas of the Binomio vineyard, the Montepulciano grapes were extremely concentrated. This gave rise to the idea of making a top selection of the grapes for the first time, because under the good shade of the foliage, they showed a particular flawlessness of flavours and promised an even more concise interpretation of the essence of Binomio. With patience and care, this small and exceptional portion of the fascinating grapes was then selected and the foundation stone was laid for the small "Binomio Collezione" series, which is only produced in the best years. With the first vintage 2017, 3,000 bottles are now available in the hand-picked specialised trade.
Deep, shimmering ruby red colour. Intense bouquet with heavy aromas of redcurrants and sour cherries, accompanied by hints of roasted almonds, gentian violets and a delicate spiciness. On the palate, the wine reveals all its complexity and opulence, framed by tightly woven, well-integrated tannins in a perfect balance between warmth and softness. A deep wine that only reveals itself with some aeration and is proof of the outstanding characteristics of the grape variety and terroir. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep, dark ruby red with an opaque centre. On the nose, preserved cherry, ripe plum, dark chocolate, a hint of nougat, grated wild berries, delicate sealing wax. Very dense on the palate with a creamy texture, almost oily, currently still with a lot of tannin, becomes slightly broad-meshed in the final and remains drying." Falstaff
"Dark and brooding, the 2017 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Binomio Collezione opens with hints of cedar and sweet spices complementing the crushed plums. It flows across the palate with silky textures and masses of ripe red and blue fruits, neatly balanced by a hint of citrus towards the end. Violet candy, lavender and mint can be found as the 2017 finishes powerful and fresh." Vinous
"Floral black fruits on the nose, with notes of black liquorice and pressed flowers. Full-bodied, round and silky on the palate, firm but not chewy, with liquorice fruit and grainy, fruity tannins. Balanced and long. Accessible now, but made to last. Best from 2025 onwards." James Suckling

Founded in the early 1990s in the municipality of Spoltore on the sunny hills near the town of Pescara, the pretty Fattoria La Valentina has long been one of the leading and most reliable wine producers in Abruzzo. The three brothers Sabatino, Roberto and Andrea di Properzio, who are committed and have a strong sense of togetherness, have opted for organic grape cultivation and ecologically sustainable processing methods. In the vineyard as little as possible is interfered with natural processes. The estate manager Sabatino di Properzio has even had the complete renunciation of pesticides certified. The drops pressed in the Abruzzi winery are today known far beyond the borders of the country and most of them are exported all over the world.
The grapes of the central Italian winery thrive in two areas of high potential, which differ in their terroirs. The head office with the Bellovedere vineyard, which has grown over the years to more than 20 hectares, is located just a few kilometres from the Adriatic coast. The climate of the area, due to its proximity to the sea and the mountains, reveals the specific characteristics of the fruit. There is also a dependency about 20 kilometres from the historic winery, on a steep slope of the Majella in the municipality of San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore, which slopes down towards Pescara. In addition to the dominant Montepulciano and the Ciliegiolo, the range of grapes of the di Properzio family includes the white Pecorino, Trebbiano and the Fiano of the 'grand seigneur' among the Italian grape varieties. Both the land owned by the family and the leased land cultivated by La Valentina are cared for and cared for by the family clan with a lot of love and passion. The grapes are harvested by hand and are strictly selected during the harvest.
In the cellar, which was built in 2008 and is equipped with modern facilities, the following wines are produced under the strict supervision of the Technical Manager Luca d'Attoma strong character, fragrant and aromatic authentic wines with unmistakable charm. Even the excellent base wines, which are available on the market at very reasonable prices, can convince connoisseurs of good wines. The wines of the house are divided into three segments: Linea Terroir, Linea Classica and Binomio. In the Binomio vineyard in San Valentino, four hectares of Montepulciano grow on an area cultivated in a joint venture with partner Stefano Inama at an altitude of up to 400 metres. The Fattoria La Valentina's ten labels also include two Cerasuolo labels. SUPERIORE.DE
"La Valentina has accustomed us to wines that are strong in personality, original and sometimes modern, but that always maintain an interesting dialogue with tradition. A safe tip in the wine panorama of Abruzzo."Gambero Rosso
