Mario Schiopetto was born in 1930, he grew up in the family-owned Osteria ai Pompieri and had his first professional experiences as a fireman and later as a truck driver. In 1963, guided only by his taste and love of wine, he began to devote himself to wine production in his parents' farm and produced the first pure Tocai in 1965. The historic label at the time included the drawing of his fire engine, which he also used to deliver the wine to customers. With the 2019 vintage, the winery recalled these historical roots and resumed the cute drawing on part of its wine labels.

The grapes come from selected hillside parcels in Astigiano. Gently pressed, cool-fermented and matured in pressurised tanks, the wine is bottled early to preserve its freshness, varietal purity and fine, natural residual sweetness; the gentle perlage style remains deliberately light. Bright, radiant straw yellow in colour with a delicate, persistent perlage. Fragrant aromas on the nose: orange blossom and white flowers, plus peach and a hint of sage. Sweet on the palate, but light as a feather: juicy stone fruit, fine mousse and a lively, citric acidity keep the balance perfectly. The finish is clear, cool and aromatic, with a slight salty tang. An elegant, pure Moscato d'Asti – lively, fragrant and precise at the same time, ideal as an aperitif or with fine pastries and fruit desserts. SUPERIORE.DE

We are talking about the summit of the extinct volcano Monte Foscarino, 350 metres above sea level. Up here, where volcanic tuff forms the base and oak forests provide cool night breezes, one of Roberto's most precious treasures has been thriving since 1982. The Capitel Foscarino was already a legend when Roberto was still part of the Soave consortium – today it stands for pure typicality of the vineyard without regulatory DOC compromises. 90 per cent Garganega and ten per cent Chardonnay from horizontally trained vines that are rigorously thinned out in June so that only the most vigorous berries survive.

The classic grape variety from the Loire finds its southern alpine perfection on the calcareous clay soils between 300 and 500 metres. These medium altitudes offer ideal conditions for Sauvignon Blanc: The alpine microclimate with cool nights and warm days preserves the typical varietal flavour and lively acidity. Pale straw yellow in colour with greenish reflections. The intense bouquet reveals the variety of aromas typical of the variety: elderflower harmonises with ripe gooseberries, tropical nuances of passion fruit and kiwi blend with subtle herbal notes. On the palate, the Sauvignon Blanc is gentle yet structured with perfectly balanced acidity. The six-month yeast ageing gives it a silky texture and additional depth and length. Nascetta, indigenous to the Langhe region and particularly rooted in Novello, is considered the "forgotten queen of Piedmont's white wines". Once almost disappeared, it was revitalised by dedicated winegrowers and today shows its full potential: aromatically nuanced, elegantly matured and with natural tension. For La Regina, the grapes are carefully harvested and matured in stainless steel tanks to allow the fruit and origin to be clearly experienced. An authentic, rare white wine with character – and a shining example of the diversity of Piedmont.

Since 1871, the name Garofoli has embodied the soul of the Marchigian wine culture – a story of five generations that has its roots in the holy city of Loreto, where Antonio Garofoli once refreshed weary pilgrims with local wine. What began as a humble tavern developed under his son Gioacchino into one of Italy's most venerable wine houses, which is now run by brothers Carlo and Gianfranco and their children Gianluca, Caterina and Beatrice. Podium originates from the classic hills of the Castelli di Jesi, the historic heartland of Verdicchio, where medium loamy soils with sandy and calcareous inclusions form a mosaic that gives the Verdicchio grape its unmistakable minerality. The long ageing process takes place without the use of wood.

The year 2024 was characterised by a long, sunny autumn with moderate temperatures - ideal conditions for a late, selective harvest. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, the grape variety remains clear and unadulterated in its floral and spicy expressiveness. Straw-yellow in colour with an intense, multi-faceted fruity aroma of honeydew melon and summer flowers. Joseph Gewürztraminer 2024 captivates with its fragrant aromas of lychee, rose petals and exotic spices, carried by a cool elegance. Lots of substance on the palate, complex and of great aromatic depth with good structure and length. The grapes come from selected hillside parcels around Alba. After careful manual harvesting, they are carefully destemmed, fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel and briefly macerated; subsequent storage on fine lees in tanks preserves freshness, varietal purity and the typical drinkability. Bright ruby red in colour with a violet hue. Red cherry and blackberry on the nose, along with violets, a hint of plum and the delicate bitter almond note that makes Dolcetto so charming. Juicy and straightforward on the palate: pure fruit, moderately lively acidity and fine-grained, soft tannins; a cool, slightly mineral flavour keeps the final clear and animating. The vines for this exceptional selection cuvée grow on the slopes of the St. Magdalener area above Bolzano at an altitude of 200-300 metres. St. Magdalener Moar is characterised by the unique interplay of location, age and cultivation of the vineyards. It captivates with its fruity and floral notes and its full and velvety flavour. The nose is characterised by the cherry, marzipan and violet notes typical of St. Magdalener. For us, it is one of the archetypes of its appellation! SUPERIORE.DE

The Trebbiano and Malvasia Bianca grapes for this exceptional white wine come from the Casanova dell'Aia vineyard in Radda in Chianti, the first 0.2-hectare, calcareous and clayey plot that the family bought and planted in the 1980s and then renewed in 2014. It matures on the fine lees mostly in terracotta amphorae and only a small part remains in stainless steel tanks. Total production per vintage: 2,500 bottles.

This characterful Greco di Tufo comes from high-altitude plots around Lapio, where Clelia Romano works meticulously and skilfully on volcanic-calcareous soils. Alèxandros is matured in stainless steel tanks in order to bring the varietal typicity and mineral character of the terroir unadulterated into the glass. Light straw yellow in colour with a greenish tinge. The nose shows ripe yellow fruit – williams pear, lemon zest, a hint of apricot – accompanied by floral notes and delicate smoke. Taut on the palate, with lively acidity, juicy fruit and a fine, chalky finish. The typical salinity of Greco is elegantly emphasised here. Flaminia Maremmana. The name tells of paths that are older than Rome itself. Along an ancient branch of the Via Flaminia, the consular road that connected Rome with the Adriatic Sea from 220 BC, shepherds travelled with their flocks century after century: From the green Umbrian hills down to the Maremma, to the Transumanza, the seasonal transhumance that characterised the life of this landscape until the 20th century. Here, where sheep and shepherds once rested, where history is inscribed in the earth, the vines for this special Montefalco Rosso grow today. First vinified in 2007, it carries the soul of this historic terroir. The cuvée of seventy per cent Sangiovese, fifteen per cent Sagrantino and fifteen per cent Canaiolo thrives on south-east-facing limestone-clay soils.

Feudi's new premium Rosato San Greg flows from the glass with a beautiful blend of sweet melon and white flowers. It presents a beguiling balance of ripe stone fruit, candied citrus and a cooling acidity. The finish is of medium length and leaves a tart hint of lime and steely mineral notes. Made from 100% Aglianico, San Greg is a very sophisticated rosé and an absolute delight. SUPERIORE.DE

South Tyrol's now second most important red grape variety finds its perfect stage on the sun-drenched slopes of Andriano between 300 and 450 metres above sea level. Here, where calcareous clay soils meet dolomite rock, the Burgundian aristocrat unfolds its full alpine finesse. The unique microclimate of this altitude gives the thin-skinned berries their characteristic elegance and aromatic depth. The hand-picked grapes are gently destemmed and fermented at a controlled temperature to preserve the delicate flavours. A six-month refinement in stainless steel tanks on the fine lees gives this Pinot Nero additional texture and complexity.
