Since the 2012 vintage, a small and strictly selected part of the Sangiovese at Istine has been vinified separately according to the origin of the vineyard, in order to bring out the specific characteristics of the site, the soil and the altitude and make them tangible. Since then, the best grapes from the estate's own vineyards Istine, Casanova dell'Aia and Cavarchione have been vinified separately, resulting in three now highly sought-after cru wines, of which just 3,000 bottles are sold in specialist shops and restaurants every year.

Vigna Istine is fabulous. Dark cherry, spices, leather and tobacco unfold in the glass. On the palate, an immensely creamy personality and breadth. With its flavour profile of lavender, spices, leather, menthol and liquorice, Vigna Istine has an indescribable richness of facets. "The rocky, Alberese-rich Istine vineyard slopes down in front of the family home at 550 metres above sea level. From here, beyond the surrounding woodlands, you can see the town of Radda to the east and Panzano to the northwest. Of the estate’s three single-vineyard bottlings, Istine takes the longest to come out of its shell. Angela Fronti says that she introduced a new 20hL cask in 2019 and its grainy tannins need time to integrate.
