In recent weeks, the renowned magazine "Falstaff" has focused on the topics "Italian sparkling wines" and "Chianti Classico". We are happy about high ratings!
Italy is surfing the Sparkling wave.
"Sparkling wines enjoy great popularity throughout the country. There are many exciting sparkling wines in classic bottle fermentation. Bollicine (bubbles), the Italian expression for sparkling wines of all kinds, are very much in vogue on the Apennine peninsula. They are popular, are lighter in alcohol and meet the new hedonism, which a younger audience in particular is also relying on. For the wine-loving public, it is also good manners to start a dinner with a good sparkling wine.
Despite the nationwide trend, the focus of Italian sparkling wine production is in the north. Piedmont, Lombardy, Trentino, South Tyrol and Veneto account for over 90 percent of the total. While the Veneto scores with Prosecco, which is mostly produced in tank fermentation, there are also some fine sparkling wines from traditional bottle fermentation. Gone are the days when these pearls were always compared to champagne - they now have their own profile. The two most important areas are Franciacorta in Lombardy and Trentino." Falstaff
Chianti Classico - an authentic piece of Tuscany!
"Founded in 1716, Chianti Classico is one of the oldest defined wine-growing regions in the world. At the same time, it is one of the most dynamic regions today and Chianti Classico once again shows remarkable qualities: juicy and with a great drinking flow. Good Chianti Classico smells of cherries, is fresh and juicy on the palate, with noticeable but well integrated tannin. 2016 was a great year, the wines are fresh and juicy, show fine tannins and have good tension.
Paolo de Marchi is one of the great innovators of Chianti Classico. His Chianti Classico 2016 from Isole e Olena was the undisputed winner of our Trophy, with fine-meshed tannin and a lot of juicy cherry. Second place went to Chianti Classico 2017 from Badia a Coltibuono. In the famous abbey high above Gaiole there are the old Riservas, cellars and vineyards, but to the south there is Monti. For 20 years now, all Badia a Coltibuono wines have carried the organic seal. With the 2017 Roberto Stucchi Prinetti delivered a wonderful wine. "Besides these winners, there's a lot of great Chianti Classico. Falstaff
