La Bella Estate (The Beautiful Summer) is named after a work by Cesare Pavese. This Moscato Passito is the result of over 20 years of experience. "Over time," explains the president of the company, Piero Quadrumolo, "we have managed to find an optimal balance with the aim of obtaining an aromatic wine with the clear varietal character of a Moscato that is not too broad or boring and also has good acidity." Today, just 15,000 bottles are bottled per vintage, most of which are delivered directly to the haute cuisine of Piedmont.

A rosé as unconventional as its origin: Etna Rosato by Alberto Graci is more than just a summer wine – it is a bold and cool greeting from the volcano. Grown on mineral-rich gravel soil near Passopisciaro, where Nerello Mascalese at an altitude of around 600 metres bears the temperament of a volcano, this rosé always remains clear in expression – a product of tradition, soil and respect for nature. The 2022 vintage plays to all its strengths: a cool spring, a moderate summer with constant wind ventilation and a late harvest ensured healthy grapes with aromatic depth and fresh structure. Vinification follows the principle of purity – gentle direct pressing, spontaneous fermentation in cement, the wine remains on the fine lees for six months, powerful without wood, elegant without exaggeration.

Pietracupa's Fiano 2020 is a prime example of how precise and complex this grape variety from the Irpinia highlands can be. The vines grow on limestone and clay-rich soils around Montefredane, where cool nights and a long growing season ensure fine flavours and elegant structure. 2020 brought balanced conditions that harmoniously combined freshness and ripeness. Medium straw yellow with golden reflections. The bouquet is multi-layered: ripe apricot, candied lemon, hazelnut, white flowers and a hint of honey, underpinned by mineral notes. Dense yet straightforward on the palate, with juicy acidity, fine texture and a long, slightly salty finish. A Fiano with depth and clarity that is a true reflection of its origin and will continue to gain expression over the coming years. SUPERIORE.DE

Carte Noire is a highly limited Ligurian drip oil, which is obtained using a special process. Only completely intact olives are used for this. After grinding them between granite stones, the paste is spread on mats. These are placed on top of each other, after which the olive oil obtained in this way runs downwards without pressure and is collected there. The result is a mild oil, not without certain rustic notes, with a slight sweetness and hints of spices, almonds, pine nuts, apple and vanilla. Bright ruby red colour, typical of Sangiovese. Intense aroma of blackcurrants, cherries and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it immediately shows great freshness and minerality, good tannins and structure, a very long finish that shows that Sangiovese from the Montalcino region possesses wonderful elegance, complexity and depth even when aged in stainless steel. Jermann's Sauvignon Bianco is a precisely vinified white wine from the cooler vineyards of the Veneto-Friuli border region. The grapes come from vineyards with calcareous flysch soil, which promotes an elegant, taut style. The 2024 vintage was characterised by slow ripening under stable conditions – the result is a Sauvignon with a fine balance and clear flavour. The wine is matured exclusively in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness and varietal character.

Jalé is one of the Sicilian Chardonnays with an almost Burgundian-like depth of character. It is not an international mainstream wine, but an expressive white wine with origin and ambition. The grapes grow at an altitude of 700 metres at Tenuta Ficuzza near Piana degli Albanesi – a privileged microclimate with strong day-night differences, which gives the Chardonnay freshness and expression. The clay and limestone-rich soil provides structure and longevity. After night-time harvest and short cold maceration, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place, followed by ageing for several months in large wood on the fine lees.

Good, full, light ruby red colour. The deep aromas of dark berries, candied cherries and flint are bright and fresh. Clean, precise and deep on the palate, with good clarity and lift to its ripe but vibrant blue and black fruit flavours. It finishes with a very good juicy cut and refined tannins. A beautiful wine. A finely integrated expression of the autochthonous grape variety, cultivated by the innovative Pietracupa winery and one of the best interpretations of the Greco grape every year. The 2020 vintage revealed balanced ripeness with cool nights and moderate growth, resulting in grapes with a precise acid structure and aromatic depth. Matured in stainless steel tanks, this wine remains clear and typical of the variety in terms of expression and structure. Brilliant straw yellow in the glass with a delicate greenish reflection. The aroma combines ripe pear, yellow citrus fruit, lime blossom and a hint of spring meadow, accompanied by light minerality. The Turmhof Castle Winery in Entiklar near Kurtatsch is one of the most traditional family businesses in South Tyrol. Christof and Sabine Tiefenbrunner are the fifth generation of the family to run the winery – with vineyards that range from 220 to over 1,000 metres above sea level and offer the ideal location for every variety. This Gewürztraminer combines grapes from two characterful sites between 220 and 350 metres: Entiklar/Margreider Leiten with limestone gravel soils from moraine deposits facing south to south-east and Brenntal/Frauenriegel, where red, sandy loam soil faces east. This combination gives the wine both aromatic depth and mineral freshness.

Torcolato is made from botrytised Vespaiola grapes and matures in French oak barrels, a third of which are new. It has been one of the best sweet wines in Italy for decades. Aromas of dried apricots, white truffle, honey and sage on the nose, virtuoso and exotic on the palate. Class and elegance with a great value and outstanding ageing potential. Since the 2022 vintage, Campanaro has proudly carried the designation Fiano di Avellino Riserva DOCG – a step that takes the years of work on this wine to a new dimension. What began as Irpinia Bianco DOC with a Fiano-Greco cuvée is now a single-varietal Fiano from the best vineyards in the DOCG zone. Feudi di San Gregorio has thus made a clear decision: The Campanaro should show the potential of a single, great Campanian grape variety, not the harmony of two grapes. Vinification takes place in tonneau, where the must ferments at a controlled temperature and then matures for six months on the fine lees. This time in small wooden barrels gives the wine the texture and complexity that distinguishes it from simpler Fiano versions. The fine lees are stirred regularly to develop a creamy fullness without masking the typical freshness of Fiano. After bottling, the Campanaro is left to mature in the bottle for a few months before being released onto the market – patience as part of the Riserva philosophy.

This mineral and concentrated wine emphasises the beauty of the Collio region. Ponca, the local name for the soil in the Collio, is a calcareous clay and sandstone conglomerate, which this wine shows in abundance. The first note of Ponca leads to ripe apples and white flowers. On the palate, it is complex and structured, creamy and with a strong acidity. It is a wine with stony and mineral undertones that emphasises the soil of this special place. SUPERIORE.DE

Schiopetto's delicious Malvasia seduces with multi-layered flavours of crushed apple, spices, smoke, raw almonds and white flowers. It has a silky texture and envelops the palate with fragrant waves of ripe melon and orchard fruit, enlivened by lively acidity. It offers a seductive interplay of savoury and sweet flavours and has a long but also incredibly fresh finish. This wine is simply stunning and yet still as youthfully closed as it is today.
