GIODO | Sangiovese as a life's work

Some wineries are born of circumstance. Others are born of conviction. Giodo clearly belongs to the latter category. Behind this small estate in Montalcino stands Carlo Ferrini, one of Italy’s most influential Oenologist. After decades spent working with big names from Tuscany to Mount Etna, he decided to embark on his most personal project: his own winery. Seven hectares. Sangiovese exclusively. An uncompromising focus on elegance.

The name Giodo is composed of his parents’ first names and thus already bears the hallmark of a very personal approach. Today, Ferrini runs the estate together with his daughter Bianca, who builds on the philosophy whilst also bringing her own distinct, precise voice to the table. It is a generational project rooted in experience yet open to evolution.

Brunello di Montalcino is always at the heart of it all. The wines combine depth with clarity, structure with a remarkable lightness. Classic ageing, precise vinification and a deep understanding of Sangiovese result in wines that do not need to be loud to make an impression. It is this balance of power and finesse that has made Giodo one of the region’s most exciting names in a very short space of time.

At the same time, the portfolio demonstrates just how versatile this signature style can be. The Rosso di Montalcino offers freshness and immediate approachability without losing any of its substance. The Brunello “Prètto” represents a clearly defined, somewhat more direct style, whilst the flagship embodies the full depth and ageing potential of the estate. This is complemented by the “La Quinta” Rosso Toscana, which, as a distinct expression of the terroir, bridges the gap between sophistication and the pleasure of drinking young.

The result is an overall picture that extends far beyond individual wines. Giodo is not a large winery in the traditional sense, but a concentrated expression of philosophy. A place where Sangiovese is not interpreted, but understood.
