Arnaldo Caprai, a successful businessman in the textile industry, realised his dream of owning his own vineyard in 1971 and bought 5 hectares in Montefalco. Over time, he acquired further plots of land in the surrounding area. Since 1988, his son Marco Caprai has managed the winery with great passion and determination. In the early 1990s, enormous investments were made in the winery and new vineyards were acquired. Caprai collaborates with the University of Milan and other research institutes in the agronomic and oenological fields. In this way, for example, the production results can be constantly improved and new clones of Sagrantino can be identified. With the Riserva of Sagrantino di Montefalco, which Marco created for the company's 25th anniversary, the winery catapulted itself to the top of Italian wine producers. The 25 Anni won the three glasses at Gambero Rosso ten times in a row. Caprai was also named "Winery of the Year 2006" winery of the year. SUPERIORE.DE
