“Villata” Arneis Roero DOCG 2025
The Roero region has long been the quiet sister of Barolo – but with wines like this, it is clear that great stories are also being told here. Villata comes from selected vineyards in the heart of the Roero, where the calcareous and sandy soils give the Arneis its fine signature. The grapes are harvested early in the morning, matured in stainless steel and remain on the fine lees until bottling – this preserves freshness, precision and fine texture.

!["Poggio di Caro" Arneis Roero DOC 2024]()
“Poggio di Caro” Arneis Roero DOC 2024
Arneis – once almost extinct, today Piedmont's white pride. The Poggio di Caro comes from the heart of the Roero: the 20 to 25-year-old vines are rooted in the characteristic sandy soils around Canale, where Enrico Serafino has been at home since 1878. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are cooled with carbonic acid snow and undergo a 12 to 15-hour cold maceration before being gently fermented in stainless steel. Three months of bottle ageing round off the wine.

Arneis Roero DOCG 2024
A radiant expression of the white tradition of Piedmont: this Roero Arneis presents itself in a delicate light straw yellow colour with subtle greenish reflections. Floral nuances of hawthorn and camomile unfold on the nose, accompanied by sun-ripened stone fruits such as peach and yellow apple, accompanied by a hint of almond – elegant, harmonious and animatingly lively. On the palate, freshness is combined with structure: a lively, citrus-driven acidity carries a dense, almost silky texture, with a salty minerality on the finish, which is typical of the sandy soils of the Roero. The lingering, finely spiced finish is both elegant and lively. A Roero Arneis that combines origin and flair, fresh, expressive and with a hint of exoticism. SUPERIORE.DE

Arneis Roero DOCG 2024
Arneis, the once almost forgotten "Barolo bianco", is experiencing a triumphant renaissance at Vietti – and this example celebrates it at the highest level. Produced in Santo Stefano Roero from vines around 30 years old (4,500–5,000 vines/ha), on limestone marl, processed cooler and bottled with care – all characterised by fresh clarity and lively elegance. The Arneis is fermented spontaneously in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation or wood in order to bring out its flowery freshness on the fine lees.

!["Arveja" Arneis Langhe DOC 2024]()
“Arveja” Arneis Langhe DOC 2024
White postcard from the Langhe: gentle hills, morning breezes – and Arneis in its purest form. Arveja comes from selected, higher-lying parcels around Alba; the harvest is cool and selective, and the ageing is deliberately focussed on freshness and clarity. Pale straw yellow in the glass with a greenish tinge. Open bouquet of white flowers, green apple skin, juicy pear with a hint of citrus zest, underneath a fine, stony-mineral tone. Straightforward, juicy on the palate, with lively acidity and a delicate creaminess in the flow. The fruit remains cool and precise, with a small almondy accent for a Piedmontese wink. The final is long and salty-fresh. An uncomplicated, elegant Arneis with a confident drinking pleasure – perfect as an aperitif, with antipasti, vitello tonnato or simply with a good piece of grilled trout. SUPERIORE.DE

Arneis Roero DOCG 2024
Roero Arneis is also known as Barolo Bianco, which is entirely true for this excellent white wine from Neve's noble forge. Bruna Giacosa's Arneis in particular is a great example of a Roero wine that surpasses the normality of the appellation by far and at the same time has a great sense of inner freshness and complexity.

The "little difficult one" from Piedmont
Arneis – this name sounds light, almost fleeting. But behind the white grape variety from Piedmont in northern Italy lies a character with history, style and renaissance potential. Once almost forgotten, now celebrated: Arneis is a prime example of the rediscovery of regional authenticity in viticulture. Arneis in the Roero, a hilly region north-west of Alba, was first mentioned in documents as early as the 15th century. The name is probably derived from the Piedmontese dialect word for "little difficult one" – a reference to the capricious growth, susceptibility to disease and rather low yield. For a long time, the grape variety was used as a partner in Barolo cuvées to round off the angular Nebbiolo tannin structure. With the decline of this practice, Arneis became less important – until visionaries such as Bruno Giacosa rediscovered the enormous potential of the grape variety as a single-varietal white wine in the 1980s.
Elegance with depth
Today, Arneis has a fine and elegant aroma: the nose reveals notes of ripe pear, white flowers, fennel, yellow stone fruit and the occasional bitter almond or hazelnut. Some examples also reveal a delicate herbal flavour or hints of hay. On the palate, Arneis is creamy, with a pleasant texture and restrained, yet supporting acidity. A white wine with substance, but without heaviness – ideal for wine connoisseurs looking for character without volume. Modern vinification predominantly relies on temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and primary flavours. Some producers are also experimenting with ageing in large wooden barrels or on the fine lees, which gives the wine additional complexity and Storage potential.
The character of the landscape
The grape variety is almost exclusively at home in Italy – particularly in the Roero DOCG, on the left bank of the Tanaro River opposite the famous Langhe. The sandy, calcareous soils there give the Arneis a special finesse. There are also small plantations in Monferrato, Liguria and experimental vineyards in California, Oregon and New Zealand – albeit with a much lower profile. Italy's most renowned producers include Bruno Giacosa, Ceretto, Giovanni Rosso and Vietti – all of whom have shaped the image of modern Arneis in different ways.
Fine cuisine, fine wine
Arneis is an ideal culinary accompaniment: perfect with vitello tonnato, smoked fish, scallops, delicate risottos or vegetable terrines. It is also an insider tip for Asian cuisine with a mild spiciness or sushi. Its aromatic finesse complements dishes without drowning them out – exactly what a food companion should do. The ideal drinking temperature is 8 to 10 °C – cool enough to emphasise the freshness, warm enough to develop the variety of flavours. A small side note: Arneis is occasionally also referred to by the synonyms "Bianchetta", "Bianchetto" or "Nebbiolo Bianco" – although this is due to historical reasons and should not be confused with white Nebbiolo varieties. DNA analyses confirm this: Arneis is an independent variety with long local roots.
Conclusion: The silent star from Piedmont
Arneis is not a loud white wine – but one that quietly impresses. If you are prepared to listen carefully, you will be rewarded with a brooding, authentic wine that expresses its origins in every sip. A white wine that does not impose itself, but remains in the memory – like a well-kept secret among the hills of the Roero. SUPERIORE.DE
