For the 22nd time, top international experts gathered at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) to judge outstanding wines from all corners of the world. With more than 18,000 entries from 57 countries - including 2,689 Italian wines - the 2025 competition had another record year. This means that the DWWA remains the undisputed largest and most influential wine competition in the world.
The 248 judges from 35 countries, including 22 Master Sommeliers and 72 Masters of Wine, tasted blind - i.e. without knowledge of the producer, but with information on origin, style and price level. The wines were judged strictly according to the internationally recognised 100-point system. The results are impressive: 50 wines received the coveted ‘Best in Show’ award - that is just 0.3% of all participants. In addition, 137 platinum and 732 gold medals were awarded.
