Vigna San Francesco Cabernet Sauvignon is a solitaire among Sicilian red wines - not a Mediterranean outlier, but an expressive, noble representative of its grape variety, grown at an altitude of 570 metres in the cool vineyards of the Tenuta Regaleali winery in the heart of Sicily. The San Francesco parcel, planted with Cabernet since 1985, rests on calcareous clay soils whose structure and drainage lend the wine precision, depth and vigour.

After manual harvesting, the wine was vinified with a long maceration period and matured for around 18 months in French barriques, precisely matched to the vintage and fruit expression. In the glass, the wine has a deep ruby red colour with a garnet-red rim. The aroma is extremely classic: blackcurrant, cedar wood, pipe tobacco, eucalyptus and a hint of graphite. Dense but cool on the palate, with polished tannins, mineral depth and elegant acidity. The fruit remains clear, the use of wood discreet, the finish long, silky and characterised by balsamic spice. Vigna San Francesco is a Sicilian Cabernet without exaggeration - powerful but not opulent, structured but not austere. A great single wine with a Bordeaux attitude and an island-wide horizon.
