Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2020 (BIO)
Poggio di Sotto | Tuscany
Collemassari S.p.A. s.a. | Via Di Porta Pinciana 6 | IT 00187 Roma
Poggio di Sotto's Rosso di Montalcino is a fragrant and feminine effort, showing dusty roses and violets with bright cherry and strawberry fruit in the glass. Hints of cedar and floral undergrowth emerge over time to complete the expression. It is silky to the touch and energetic with mineral, ripe red berries, spices and inner flowers carried by juicy acids. Liquorice and a sweet and sour note of wild berries linger along with a gentle layer of fine tannin that only becomes noticeable towards the end. Great development potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant, bright ruby red colour. Complex on the nose, ripe red fruit, blood orange and rosehip tea, sea salt on the finish. Enormously juicy, radiant on the palate, opens balanced, elegant, with a beautiful salinity, flows radiantly, embedded in fine tannins." Falstaff
"The Rosso di Montalcino 2020 is a youthfully restrained, aromatic mix of crushed ash stones, wild herbs and smoke. With time in the glass, it slowly evolves, shedding its earthy personality to reveal a core of redcurrant and dusty rose. On the palate, it reveals a silky, soft and cosy texture, with a depth of dark red fruit and mineral tones accompanied by lively acidity. It leaves behind a layer of fine tannins that firm up on the finish with notes of orange and clove. The 2020 needs a long ageing period to show its best side." Vinous
"Sweet vanilla-cherry and toasted coconut join savory notes of cured meat and tanned leather before the nose gets further umami depth from balsamic vinegar and coffee. Notes of Bing cherries and wild strawberries keep the palate juicy against mouth-clearing tannins that promise longevity." Wine Enthusiast
"This wine is also a prime example of the type and comes from the fine neighbourhood project carried out at the foot of Monte Amiata. Wild plum, with a hint of rosemary and pepper leaf and nuances of cinnamon, great acid shoulder on the palate, density and tension, with a fruity-oily finish." Luca Gardini
