“Korem” Bovale Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2020
Korem is a wine that perfectly interprets the Argiolas family philosophy: Innovation with deep respect for Sardinian tradition. A wine born from the desire to enhance and perfect the Bovale vine. Bovale is a low-yielding grape variety, as it requires well-aerated soils with excellent exposure. It is refined in Korem by the addition of Carignano and Cannonau, two other traditional Sardinian grape varieties.
Korem shines in deep ruby red from the glass. Intense aromas of black cherry, sandalwood and lavender on the nose. Velvety, full-bodied, warm and round in the mouth. A refined top wine that impressively reflects the great potential of the family winery. SUPERIORE.DE
"I love the aromas of blackberries, graphite and walnut with cedar. Full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine, showing class and sophistication. Creamy and finely textured. Needs three to four years to soften." James Suckling

“Keir” Ansonica Toscana IGT 2019
Keir Ansonica is the white answer to Keir Syrah, which is also aged in amphorae. A wine produced in a small edition of 2,000 bottles, neither clarified nor filtered, it is an expression of innovation and tradition at the same time.
Light golden yellow. Fine, reductive bouquet of lemon peel, tropical fruits and yellow apple with hints of smoke, honey, spices, herbs and broom. Dry, medium-bodied palate with nice acidity, freshness and complexity. The flavours reflect the bouquet beautifully and lead into a medium length finish. Very nice first vintage of this truly special white wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is the first vintage of a Keir white wine, made from Ansonica macerated on the skins in amphorae for two months. Unclarified and unfiltered, it has a deep, golden, Sauternes-like colour, with waxy orange peel aromas and just a hint of mineral and irony. Salty, savoury flavours on the palate are accompanied by a noticeable tannic edge. A twist of orange peel make this a characterful wine, perfect for drinking with spicy Szechuan-style dishes." Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2020 (BIO)
Medium ruby red. Opens with ripe fruit notes of redcurrants, wild cherries and dried raspberries, then grilled herbs and liquorice in the background. This Rosso is more powerful and opulent than many of its competitors, almost reaching the intensity of a Brunello. Nevertheless, the aromas are more precise than one would expect from a young red wine. The delicate tannin has reached a certain stage of maturity and finds a lively ally in the well-proportioned acidity, which keeps the flavour development going for all eternity. SUPERIORE.DE

“Dolée” Friulano Friuli Isonzo DOC 2021
Friulano Dolée is another impressive flagship of Vie di Romans. Bright straw yellow colour. Clean, fresh aromas of honey, citrus and pear, complemented by ripe banana. On the palate, its soft texture provides an ideal sounding board for the beautifully layered fruit basket of peach, melon, quince and fresh pear. A ripe, finessed wine that finishes long and with excellent acid-fruit balance. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Friulano Dolée is exotically spiced and vibrant in the glass, with an intense burst of lemon meringue complemented by sweet mint and crystallized ginger. Silky and supple on the palate, this boasts ultra-ripe citrus and orchard fruits balanced by stimulating acidity. This finishes with outstanding length and is spicy with lingering tropical melon notes. While the 2021 comes across as sweet, it's just a trick of the acidity and fruit, as this finished at only 1.2 grams of residual sugar." Vinous
"Spiced apples and pears with hints of peach pit, crushed almonds, dried lemon peel and the scent of summer flowers. Creamy and smooth with medium to full body, refreshed by herbs and savoury undertones. Long and racy." James Suckling

“Capofaro” Bianco Salina IGT 2019 dolce · in gift box
The harvested Malvasia grapes stay for a few weeks under good ventilation in shady drying chambers. Without humidity and hot sun, the grapes dry slowly and thus retain their acidity and very moderate alcohol levels. Capofaro is an impressive dessert wine that comes from vines that once belonged to the late winemaker Carlo Hauner, who made Malvasia from the island of Salina famous.
Bright golden yellow. A warm bouquet of orange blossom, candied orange peel and flowers underpinned by bright, salty notes. Very tightly packed and tightly wound, it displays a lush mouthfeel and an enticing sweetness that is nicely offset by a penetrating acidity. The finish is creamy and long, with notes of botrytis and reminiscent of tropical fruit nectar. SUPERIORE.DE
"Medium dense bright golden yellow with lemon yellow accents. Opens on the nose to delicate spruce shoots, blossom honey and nutmeg, also discreetly of dried mango. Lively on the palate, showing nice tension with crisp acidity, subtle spice notes paired with exotic fruit, very layered, comes back juicy on the final." Falstaff
"The finely chiselled bouquet of the steel-aged Passito combines notes of dried apricots with peach and citrus fruit aromas, delicately spicy; polished in the mouth, perfectly balanced between the acidity and the sweetness, elegant and long. A pleasure with pasticceria or on its own." Vinum
"Crisp, dry and thoroughly delicious, this fragrant white from the island of Salina opens with heady scents of yellow stone fruit, citrus, white rose and Mediterranean brush. Tangy and vibrant, the savory palate doles out yellow peach, apricot, Meyer lemon and briny notes of saline." Wine Enthusiast
"This is always such a fun and cheerful wine to enjoy at the end of an outdoor meal with an evening seascape somewhere in the distance. The Tenuta Capofaro 2019 Tenuta Capofaro (in a 500-milliliter bottle) is made with air-dried fruit (the appassimento process takes place on the island of Salina in a special fruttaio room for air-drying with controlled temperatures, but the Tasca team makes this wine at their home-base winery on Sicily; for that reason, this wine is identified with the IGT Salina appellation). As you might expect, winemaking is impeccable, and the aromas are clear and concise with fresh peach, minty apple and Sicilian night-blooming jasmine. The wine is full and elegant but graceful all the while with a crisp and polished mouthfeel." Wine Advocate

“Pétracine” Riesling Langhe DOC 2021 (BIO)
The pioneer of Riesling on Italian soil is Aldo Vajra. Already fascinated by the variety as a student, he planted the first vines of the White Riesling variety in the Langa. Very light yellow-green in its youth, it develops into a strong straw yellow. The aromas of the noble Pètracine also take a varied course. Starting with peach and apricot, delicate floral and citrus notes follow in its mid-palate, while minerality comes to the fore as it matures. Harmonious and precisely structured on the palate, almost austere, fascinatingly complex and long. Great ageing potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Riesling Pétracine is soft, open-knit and quite tasty, with pretty tropical accents that play off more varietal orchard fruit, mint and floral notes. Drink this refreshing, elegant white over the next handful of years." Vinous

“Bertone” Pinot Nero Provincia di Pavia IGT 2015
As early as 1865, the first 1,850 Pinot Noir vines were brought to Italy from Burgundy by Count Vistarino. Since then, the vinification of this demanding grape variety has been continually refined by generations. Today, the Pinot Noir Noirs of the dynasty of winegrowers can even outshine much more expensive Pinot Noirs from Burgundy at international tastings. The grapes of the winery's top crus are cultivated at an altitude of 400 m above sea level. The high temperature fluctuations between day and night ensure a complexity, precision and elegance that is rarely found even in Burgundy.
Brilliant ruby red. In the nose it is delicately fruity with hints of small red berries, coffee and hints of damp forest soil. On the palate a subtle and precise fruit, the tannins are very fine and a long, never-ending mineral finish. SUPERIORE.DE

“Piere” Sauvignon Bianco Friuli Isonzo DOC 2021
Rive Alte Sauvignon Blanc Piere is the lighter of the winery's two Sauvignons, but both wines are beautiful in their own way. Piere shows earthy notes of green olive, garden tomato leaves and sage on the palate, rounded off by upbeat and tangy flavours of citrus orange peel and some crushed mineral and white pepper. All the elements are in place and like all Vie di Romans whites, Piere needs time in the glass to find its centre and minerality. And if you have the patience to give it to him, he is great. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Sauvignon Blanc Piere 2021 is a spice bomb that captures my attention with hints of ground ginger, cardamom, flint and curry before flowing into dried nectarines. It is luxurious and silky, yet with a cooling minerality and acidity that underlines its floral notes of green citrus and melon. For all its intensity, the 2021 finishes crisp and classically dry, while spicy herbal notes linger. This forward, fruit-driven yet seductive Sauvignon is a true delight." Vinous
"Light straw yellow with greenish reflections. Intense, cool scents of gooseberry, pineapple, basil and flint. On the palate medium structure, soft with present fruit, persistent, juicy final." Falstaff
"Spicy and citrusy with pear slices, lime peel, spicy herbs and raw almonds. Medium to full-bodied, juicy and crisp with exciting phenolic character. Steady and lively acidity. Long and mineral with a creamy finish." James Suckling
"From the vineyard of the same name, a pure Sauvignon Blanc of complexity and finesse, aged on the lees in steel, notes of pineapple on the nose, nuances of lemongrass, hints of white pepper and cedar peel. Spicy-iodic on the palate, with a fruity-citrus finish." Luca Gardini

Don Antonio is the best selection from the Morgante vineyards, where only Nero d'Avola thrives. Concentrated and penetrating aromas, very typical of the variety, ripe fruits, accompanied by mineral and balsamic notes. On the palate lively and elegant at the same time. SUPERIORE.DE
"Fine-grained tannins are layered with a creamy mix of crushed black cherry, dried thyme and citrus peel notes in this harmonious, medium- to full-bodied red. Long and spiced on the fresh finish." Wine Spectator

“Poggio Valente 25 anni” Rosso Toscana IGT 2021
Poggio Valente comes from a single vineyard of the same name at an altitude of around 300 metres. Opulent floral and small-fruited Sangiovese nose with optimally nuanced hints of tobacco, cedar and mint. Precise on the palate with plenty of pressure and power, then towards the end the furious resolution of all the well-dosed components in a fine, silky texture and an unforgettable, long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Wonderfully clear red-fruity bouquet with cherries, wild berries and wonderful floral (lavender, roses) and spicy notes. Still very delicate, but juicy and elegant as well as precisely woven with a lively style, lives from the red berry fruit, the fine tannin riff and the wonderfully ethereal freshness with wonderful liquorice notes on the final." Weinwisser
"This all-Sangiovese wine is celebrating its 25th anniversary. I am told it's made with a Burgundian model in mind. The Fattoria le Pupille 2021 Poggio Valente offers good fruit concentration, freshness and an open-knit personality. There is plenty of red fruit character along with iris, blue flower and earth, and the tannins are present, albeit powdery." Wine Advocate

“Turpino” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 (BIO)
The elegant blend of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot surprises with its fragrance full of purity and the intensely aromatic fruit flavour. Elegance and finesse trump muscle in Turpino, a wine that is always beautifully light on its feet. Fermentation in wooden barrels and ageing in barrique give the spicy, balsamic notes of the grape blend a smoothness, a fine frame and a beguilingly long finish on the palate. With its tangy acidity balancing the ripe fruit, Turpino manages to be generous and restrained at the same time, making it a great accompaniment to Mediterranean meat dishes. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark, almost impenetrable ruby red. Discreet on the nose, with fine spice, dark fruit and earthy notes. Expands quickly and purposefully on the palate, restrained but precise fruit, with firm, tightly meshed tannin, still young but with plenty of pressure and development potential." Falstaff
"Fresh aromas of cherries and orange peel follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and a bright finish. The tannins are a little firm now. Citrusy acidity." James Suckling
"The 2019 Turpino, Querciabella's top wine from Maremma, is understated and yet quite expressive. Black cherry, plum, mocha, spice and licorice are nicely lifted by a good dose of Cabernet Franc in the blend. This aromatic, layered red holds quite a bit of appeal. I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years. " Vinous

In the last third, it is again wide-ranging, full of freshness, juicy acids and grace - and with the lasting, deep impression that more than does justice to a top wine of this appellation. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Confini is exotic, with peach jam and mint offset by crushed stones, sage, fresh cucumber and tomato leaves. It is a textural thrill, weighty and almost oily, yet vibrant and fresh, with salty minerals and an acidity that balances the lush ripe melon and orchard fruit. There is a hint of heat, but it is not distracting, as the 2018 finishes long yet remarkably fresh. Confini is a blend of Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer and a dash of Rhine Riesling." Vinous
"Grapefruit, dried flowers, lychee and some preserved lemon on the nose. Intense dried citrus character. Full-bodied. Slightly bitter floral notes on the finish. Pinot Grigio, Traminer and Riesling. Drink now." James Suckling

“Vieris” Sauvignon Bianco Friuli Isonzo DOC 2021
Soft, silky wine with aromas of ripe apricots and honey that harmonise well with the fleshy richness of the mouthfeel. The expressive and very varietal palate is crowned by abundant stone fruit, melon and pear. This is a strong showing from one of the winery's flagships. SUPERIORE.DE
"A graceful, medium-bodied white that caresses the palate with a creamy texture. Features flavors of ripe mango and melon, blood orange peel and crushed pine supported by mouthwatering acidity and an underlying streak of salinity, both driving the well-honeyed finish." Wine Spectator
"Rich and dense Sauvignon with notes of waxed lemons, ripe stone fruit, raw almonds and spicy and herbaceous nuances. The palate is full-bodied with depth and creaminess, but also with a lively acidity that gives it a fresh and citrusy appeal. Long finish." James Suckling
"The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Vieris opens slowly in the glass, holding back in its youthful state, with hints of lemon oil, rosemary and wet stone accentuated by sweet spice. This is seamlessly silky, almost oily in feel, with sapid yellow citrus and savory herbal tones enriched by vibrant acidity. It finishes potent and spicy, leaving the palate saturated in an intense staining of primary concentration. The potential here is off the charts." Vinous

“Fusonero” Taurasi DOCG 2015
The new Fusonero is a delight all along the line: in the bouquet fresh rose scent, spices, red berries, mint and liquorice. The palate is dominated by light, soft aromas, while the wilder, impetuous side of the Aglianico grape is elegantly restrained. It is a particularly silky, fragrant Taurasi, immediate, attractive - and with great depth and potential. SUPERIORE.DE

“Sangiovese di S. Lucia” Toscana IGT 2019
Bottled without added sulphites, this Sangiovese rarity is produced only in the best vintages and is aged for 16 months in cocciopesto, a vessel made from ground brick, fine stone, sand and natural fibre binder. This mixture can then be moulded into vessels that are waterproof but still allow for micro-oxygenation. The real peculiarity of Cocciopesto wine containers lies in the material itself, which is characterised by a high thermal inertia and a certain permeability that makes it ideal for all phases, from vinification to ageing.
Compact colour, fruity, slightly animal bouquet of strawberry, cherry, caramel and brown bread. Very juicy on the palate, with sufficient aeration a puristic and at the same time extraordinarily tasty pleasure. The production quantity is just 2,400 bottles. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby with a drop of violet. In the nose first nuances of rum pot, then after bitter chocolate and sour cherries. On the palate with fresh fruit and hearty, grippy tannin, spreads out decisively, then unfortunately a bit consuming in the finish." Falstaff
"The 2019 Sangiovese di Santa Lucia is Rampolla's red done in amphora, with no SO2. Bright, punchy and full of character, the Sangiovese is a wine of notable personality, I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later, while the fruit remains vibrant. Sweet floral, spice and game notes, along with that touch of reduction wines in amphora show, add to its personality." Vinous
"Flaunting its purity and unmistakable primary intensity, the Castello dei Rampolla 2019 Sangiovese di S. Lucia gives us all a little lesson in Sangiovese. If you look at the textbooks, this mighty Tuscan grape is often said to be redolent of wild berries, soil, rusty nail and blue flower. Low and behold, those are precisely the aromas you get. This vintage hits the nail squarely on the head and delivers a classic portrait. Earthy aromas of red brick and clay play a leading role. Indeed, the wine is fermented on the skins in amphorae." Wine Advocate
"Fresh and delicious, this 100% Sangiovese has earthy aromas of sunbaked soil, truffle, leather and ripe plum. Made entirely in earthenware vessels of cocciopesto (a blend of stone, sand, marl and terra–cotta) and without added sulfites, the smooth, juicy palate doles out ripe black cherry, blackberry, baking spice and mineral alongside supple tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. It's made to be drunk young so enjoy soon." Wine Enthusiast

“Lozeta” Sauvignon Bianco Friuli Colli Orientali DOC 2019
"I think it's safe to say that Serena Palazzolo and her husband Christian Patat are at the top of their game, which means that the wines of Ronco del Gnemiz are among the best made in Friuli today. There is a lot to choose from here, because the transparency of the terroir is paramount. It may be easier to sell and market one or two Sauvignons, Chardonnay or Friulano wines, but the differences between each hill, each site and the age of each vineyard create such unique expressions that it would be a shame not to produce all six.
Standing on the hill where this winery is located, looking out over Rosazzo in the Colli Orientali, it becomes clear why these vineyard designations are so important to the future of the region. These hills rise and fall like bubbles rising from the earth and dropping to the horizon. I can imagine a winemaker's fascination with each of these unique sites. If you were to make a short list of the best producers in Friuli, you should put Ronco del Gnemiz at the top of the list." Vinous
New to the single-varietal portfolio of the top winery is the single-vineyard Sauvignon from the Lo Lozeta vineyard of the same name, which, after years of experimentation, has finally seen the light of day. It is the result of the avant-garde planting system, which, in contrast to the method of cultivation previously practised in Friuli, means not only a higher planting density, but also the intelligent use of clones and biotypes intermarried with French offshoots. It is another uncompromising and consistent step towards complexity and personality, with optimal exploitation and expression of the existing terroir and microclimate.
It is only with this year 2019 that the wine has found the balance and complexity that enabled Christian Patat to present it to the public in a very small edition alongside the famous classics Peri, Sol and Salici. This result and this interpretation of Sauvignon Bianco, full of character, is not only something to look forward to, but also something to be proud of as a winemaker! SUPERIORE.DE
"Gravel, candied lemon peel, green apple and dusty dried flowers all flow effortlessly from the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Lozeta. It's silky-smooth, almost oily to the touch, but with an energy and precision that excites the senses, while salty minerals bring tension over a dense core of ripe stone fruits. Cheeks pucker with youthful tension, while tart citrus and floral notes linger long. The 2019 Lozeta could do with a year or two of ageing to reveal all its charms." Vinous
