“LE TAN XVIII” Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 2018 · 2 Bottles in Gift Box
Pushing the limits!
"Comets light up, follow their path and burn up. Some last for years, others only for a few moments. They leave an impression and can point to a certain direction that guides us in our everyday work. Experimentation, innovation and playing with components are at the forefront of comets. Each of our comets is unique, like a fingerprint. The labels of each bottle are individually designed: A comet tail, painted on with a finger." Clemens Lageder
Tannat thrives excellently under warm temperatures and retains a lively acidity. Already planted 30 years ago by Alois Lageder, it is still a puzzle, experiment and challenge at the same time for the winery. In the 2018 vintage, the grapes were harvested extremely early to particularly emphasise the lightness and freshness of the grape variety. SUPERIORE.DE
"A fresh, linear red with dried-cherry, stone and cedar aromas and flavors. Medium body, fine and tight tannins and a clean finish. Not the biggest wine, but shows energy." James Suckling

“Keir” Ansonica Toscana IGT 2019 · 3 Bottles in Gift Box
Keir Ansonica is the white answer to Keir Syrah, which is also aged in amphorae. A wine produced in a small edition of 2,000 bottles, neither clarified nor filtered, it is an expression of innovation and tradition at the same time.
Light golden yellow. Fine, reductive bouquet of lemon peel, tropical fruits and yellow apple with hints of smoke, honey, spices, herbs and broom. Dry, medium-bodied palate with nice acidity, freshness and complexity. The flavours reflect the bouquet beautifully and lead into a medium length finish. Very nice first vintage of this truly special white wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is the first vintage of a Keir white wine, made from Ansonica macerated on the skins in amphorae for two months. Unclarified and unfiltered, it has a deep, golden, Sauternes-like colour, with waxy orange peel aromas and just a hint of mineral and irony. Salty, savoury flavours on the palate are accompanied by a noticeable tannic edge. A twist of orange peel make this a characterful wine, perfect for drinking with spicy Szechuan-style dishes." “Selezione 3 Cru” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 · 3 Bottles in Gift Box
Historically, the vineyards of Castello di Fonterutoli are located in the areas of three neighbouring municipalities of Chianti Classico: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Radda in Chianti. With the 2017 vintage, the Mazzei family has for the first time vinified all three large vineyards separately as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione to reflect the diversity of the terroir: Castello di Fonterutoli, Vicoregio 36 and Badiola.
We are pleased to offer you all three crus from three terroirs from three communes in a beautiful decorative box!
1 bottle à 0,75l | "Castello Fonterutoli" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
Castello di Fonterutoli comes from 11 different plots at an altitude of 420-510 m around the hamlet of Fonterutoli in Castellina in Chianti. It is quasi the "château" and at the same time the oldest cru of the winery and was first produced in 1995 as the predecessor of today's Gran Selezione. Rich colour and a clear scent of blackberries, cherries, violets and flowers, plus a little nougat. This full-bodied Castello Fonterutoli impresses with its beguiling extract sweetness and polished tannin. The intense and concentrated taste enchants the senses. The long final is full of elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Spring flowers and crushed forest fruit over tangerine and sweet tobacco nuances. Spicy palate with lots of black fruits." DECANTER
"Cherries and strawberries on the nose with sandalwood and dried flowers. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins and a beautiful, long finish. This is a very fine-textured Chianti Classico with such complexity and finesse. Drinkable now, but better in 2022." JAMES SUCKLING

Decanter: 93 points / Silver medal1 bottle à 0,75l | "Badiòla" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
Badiòla is the historic name of a vineyard in the municipality of Radda, whose grapes are vinified separately for the first time by the Mazzei family as Gran Selezione with the 2017 vintage. Bright ruby, a restrained but clear nose of wild berries, blue flowers, undergrowth, and hints of dark pepper. On the palate, Badiòla is masterfully balanced, almost weightless. The very well integrated tannin makes it seem supple from the first to the last glass and impresses with its long finish - its elegance is magnificent! SUPERIORE.DE
"Super elegant nose with red fruits, rose petals, violets, toasted almonds, blood oranges and fresh herbs. Bold palate with full body." DECANTER
"Sweet berries on the nose with citrus and cedar undertones. Hints of dried flowers, too. Full-bodied with a tight palate and polished tannins. The wine shows plenty of fruit, cream and cedar undertones. Chewy yet friendly finish." JAMES SUCKLING

Decanter: 93 points / Silver medal1 bottle à 0,75l | "Vicoregio 36" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
Vicoregio 36 is the successor to the ambitious Mix 36 and, as of 2017, a true Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. As a result of 50 years of research, 36 biotypes of the Sangiovese grape were planted on a sunny plateau near Castelnuova Berardenga, from which this extremely interesting and distinctive wine was created a few years ago. The overall impression is very balanced and straightforward with hints of red cherries, spices, dried blueberries and tobacco. It is the warmest and most balanced of the three Gran Selezione wines. Its intensity, richness of colour and precise fruit instantly captivate the Sangiovese lover. SUPERIORE.DE
"There's sweetness of fruit and finesse to this, giving a creamy texture and plenty of cherry, berry, and rose-water character. It's medium-to full-bodied with integrated tannins that are soft and creamy. Succulent finish. A little tight at the end, but will open nicely in a year or two. Best from 2023." JAMES SUCKLING
"Delicate and youthful nose of pure crunchy red cherry, vanilla framed by herbal and leathery notes. Lovely brambly palate with a vibrant acidity and blood oranges character. Long, mineral finish." DECANTER

“Vecchie Viti del Salco” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016 (BIO) · 3 Bottles in Gift Box
Just 3,500 bottles from the yield of the oldest vines of the Salco vineyard are sold with beautiful labels in a fancy 3-bottle box. In the glass, we are delighted by an extremely elegant Sangiovese with a very harmonious texture and very classic, earthy-spicy notes. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark luminous, elegant and deep ruby red. Spicy-meaty nose at first, opens on classy rosemary notes, dried tomato, then lovely cherry. Punchy on the palate with tightly woven tannin, tense, salty mineral on the back end, great length." Falstaff
"From Salcheto's 2-hectare Salco vineyard, the Vecchie Viti is a selection of the oldest vines, which are upwards of 30 years old. After ageing in a combination of large cask and small tonneaux, this spends an additional 2 years in bottle before release. Yet it is still very nascent in expression. Smoke and mint emerge slowly weaving through wild berries. There is an irony undertow on the palate which is dense, ripe, concentrated and securely fastened by firm tannins. This is sinewy in its muscle and above all sophisticated." Decanter
"The Salcheto 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Vecchie Viti del Salco (made from organic fruit) occupies that special place between primary and tertiary intensity. The bouquet reveals plum and dried cherry aromas, but it also shows oxidative aromas of tar, spice and a touch of dried fruit or apple skin. This open-knit wine is drinking nicely right now. Made from old vines, this is an accessible wine of personality." Robert Parker
"New leather, forest-berry and rose aromas shape the enticing nose on this radiant red along with a balsamic whiff of camphor. The firm, elegantly structured palate features ripe Marasca cherry, black raspberry, licorice and crushed mint framed in tightly wound, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. It's linear and still youthfully austere, with great aging potential. Drink 2023–2036." Wine Enthusiast

“Carménère di San Leonardo” Rosso Dolomiti IGT 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC
The Carménère grape, which is hardly ever found in Italy and is usually found in the Médoc, is masterfully reinterpreted at Tenuta San Leonardo. Deep, dark ruby red, with a broad-shouldered bouquet of dark fruit and very harmonious spiciness. The barely noticeable acidity makes it round on the palate, silky smooth and extremely long and elegant. With this single-varietal red, too, the winery impressively demonstrates its lone class in the region. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark shining ruby garnet. Noble-scented, spicy nose of ripe green pepper, violet and cassis, distinctly of freshly ground peppercorn, reverberating with ivy. Juicy and clear on the palate, tightens up precisely, with well-balanced fruit and acidity, will age superbly." Falstaff
"An exciting, energetic wine that finally gives the carménère grape (from Bordeaux) a positive profile in Northeastern Italy, where it arrived in the late 19th century. Complex mushroom, soy-sauce and spicy character. The racy tannins and acidity are married to the juicy and vibrant palate, which breaks the mold for this region decisively!" James Suckling
"From the moment I tilt the glass, the 2016 Carménère makes itself known with an intensely spicy and pungently floral bouquet that mixes crushed stone and smoke with dried flowers, white pepper and red currant. It’s undeniably silky and refined, yet medium in body, as tart wild berries mix with savory spices and hints of sour citrus, all enlivened by juicy acidity. While long and saturating with primary concentration, the 2016 comes across as only lightly structured yet harmonious, with a subtle coating of sweet tannin and sour citrus that lingers, along with hints of tart raspberry and minerals. There's an open-knit feel to this today, but it also has the balance for a long evolution. Very nice." Vinous

“Vigna dell’Impero 1935” Rosso Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2015 · 3 Bottles in OWC
The Sangiovese grapes of this wine come from the vineyard of the Empire of His Royal Highness the Count of Turin, Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy, who planted it in 1935. The soil is a mixture of clay and gravel, rich in marl and rock, which gives the grapes a spectacular minerality. The variations in temperature during the day play a decisive role in developing the finest aromas, which are elegant and complex. The wine, bottled in numbered bottles, is not filtered in order to preserve all the typical varietal notes and characteristics of Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, intense garnet red. Very open and accessible nose, old-style in the best sense, of rhubarb, pomegranate, sour cherry and cherry stones. Relaxed and supple at the base, it opens with a grippy, fine-grained tannin, salty and very long, ripe fruit in the aftertaste". (Place 11 / 100 "Best 100 under 100€) Falstaff
"The 2015 Valdarno di Sopra Vigna dell'Impero offers aromas of candied cherry, blackberry, spice and leather. The finish is on the soft side, and I am assigning a slightly shorter drinking window for this warm vintage as a result. The fruit is concentrated and rich, thanks to the heat of the growing season." Robert Parker
"A tight and focused red with cherry, earth and orange peel. Roses, too. Full body yet very reserved with ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and beautiful. Old vine sangiovese. Shows outstanding potential. " James Suckling

“Le Caggiole” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC
The first Caggiole was launched in 1988 and disappeared again as early as 1995 because the flagship Asinone simply met consumers' tastes better. Today - after more than 20 years of abstinence - the Nobile Le Caggiole is back on the market as the new first wine of the house.
It is salty, mineral and refined. It represents the terroir and the Sangiovese grape variety (Prugnolo Gentile) like no other wine of the house. It is almost light-footed, svelte, delicate and at the same time very fine. It is the result of many years of work with the selection of the right Sangiovese clones in the single vineyard of the same name, Le Caggiole, which consists of 4 plots.
Estate owner Dott. Federico Carletti has dedicated this masterpiece to his wife Anna - setting a new benchmark for Poliziano and the entire denomination. We are very pleased to present this strictly limited top wine! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. Clear and expressive on the nose, of rich cherries, liquorice, icing sugar and finest spice. Shows itself extremely supple and polished on the palate, spreads velvety over the tongue, with a clear fruit core, long and full of finesse in the final." Falstaff
"Made entirely with Sangiovese, this has aromas of mature black-skinned fruit, exotic spice, camphor and whiffs of French oak. Firmly structured but elegant, the linear palate delivers Marasca cherry, red plum, espresso and licorice framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it fresh and balanced." Wine Enthusiast
"The Poliziano 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Le Caggiole opens to a dark and sultry appearance, showing a rich and elegant side of the Sangiovese grape. There is a snappy or tart element to the fruit with sour cherry and black plum; however, the wine does not lack for ripeness. There is depth and rich concentration here, giving this wine a step up when it comes to a possible steak or meat roast dinner. The tannins (both the fruit and the oak tannins) are astringent, so give the wine a few more months of bottle aging." Robert Parker
"Poliziano’s 2016 Vino Nobile Le Caggiole is beautifully done. Freshly cut flowers, red berries, mint, cedar and tobacco are all laced together in a pretty, translucent Vino Nobile that is all class. The Caggiole deftly marries power with restraint. There is a lot going on, but the 2016 is not at all an obvious wine. This is a gorgeous and very refined expression of Vino Nobile." Vinous

“Campo di Tenaglia” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2019 · 3 Bottles in OWC
1,900 bottles of this 0.8 ha Cabernet Franc single vineyard "Campo di Tenaglia" (at an altitude of approx. 550m, mainly limestone) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. Impenetrable, dark wine with a bouquet of flint, crushed minerals and some chalk. The texture is rich and opulent, but always supple with a hint of minerality. Campo di Tenaglia is one of the juiciest Cabernet Francs we have ever had in the glass. Beautiful, long final and certainly great storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE
"Powerful forest fruit aromas flanked by balsamic notes, fine minerality; juicy on the palate, plenty of richness and tightly woven tannins, the finish punchy and multi-faceted." Vinum
"Rich, deep dark ruby-violet with a black core. Intense and deep nose of tobacco and black truffle, then lots of cassis, behind it fine balsamic notes. Full-bodied and gripping on the palate, densely packed with tannin that opens up in many layers, dark berry and long, still shows itself very young." Falstaff
"Dense and tightly wound with a matrix of tannins, this rich red is also lively and harmonious, laced with cherry, blackberry, iron and tobacco flavors. Stays fresh and balanced on the lingering, savory finish." Wine Spectator
"The Tenuta di Trinoro 2019 Campo di Tenaglia draws its fruit from a 0.8-hectare site with sandstone clay soils. This vineyard also boasts the deepest soils for the plant's root systems to explore, with more than two meters of crushed stone, calcareous rock and heavy sands. Like the other monovarietal wines in this collection, fermentation kicks off in stainless steel vats and aging continues in French barrique, concluding with a resting period in cement. What I notice most here is the soft ripeness and roundness of the fruit. Campo di Tenaglia shows a loose-knit texture with plenty of primary intensity in the form of blackberry preserves, spice and smoky tar." Robert Parker

Limitation of 1 articles per customer“Campo di Magnacosta” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2019 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Just 2,100 bottles of this 1.5 ha single vineyard Cabernet Franc "Campo di Magnacosta" (a former riverbed with mainly clay, gravel and crushed stone soil) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. The vines were planted in the mid-1990s and come from Pomerol. In terms of aromatic intensity, Magnacosta is probably the most sensually elegant representative of the house's three great site cabernets. It has great straightness, but somewhat less power and intensity. It subtly combines black fruit aromas with spicy notes, tar and antique leather. It is already silky and elegant and will certainly gain in finesse over the years. SUPERIORE.DE
"Restrained but soon very elegant attack with aromas of dark berries and herbs; linear on the palate with fine-grained tannin and perfectly integrated acidity, powerful yet elegant finish." Vinum
"Bay leaf, tomato leaf and thyme aromas add a savory element to the black currant and black cherry fruit, with lively acidity and compact tannins providing support as this winds down on the lingering finish." Wine Spectator
"If you love Cabernet Franc, please direct your attention here. The Tenuta di Trinoro 2019 Campo di Magnacosta is a study in the intensity, power and depth of this grape. Campo di Magnacosta was the first of several single-vineyard parcels planted to this variety. The first bottling from this 1.5-hectare site was made in 2011, and this year a mere 2,122 bottles were released. The wine is profound and pure with luscious dark fruit, sharp minerality, spice and etched contours. You get that distinctive hint of slate or pencil shaving that is especially characteristic of this Cabernet Franc. Its full-bodied texture wraps smoothly over the palate, and the tannins have been expertly integrated." Robert Parker

Only 1,650 bottles of this 1.5 ha Cabernet Franc single vineyard "Campo di Camagi" (mainly quartz and limestone) reach the specialised trade and the menus of the best restaurants worldwide. Campo di Camagi is a very precise and focused wine. The high quality of the Cabernet Franc grape is noticeable here with every sip. Black fruits and spices are in elegant unity here and the full, racy body of this exceptional wine will only fully reveal itself in many years. Please be sure to put this bottle far away! SUPERIORE.DE
"At first smells closed, then all the more seductive of dark forest fruits and undergrowth, also spicy notes; concentrated in the mouth, powerful tannin, lots of juice and character. Should still mature." Vinum
"Rich, sparkling ruby-violet. Smells of ripe blackberries and dark currants, followed by red beet and tobacco, some pepper. On the palate gripping, dense tannin, lots of spicy components, lively and hearty, dark chocolate in the finish, still needs long maturity." Falstaff
"Fresh and focused, this red features a line of pure cherry flavors, along with black currant, tobacco, iron and olive notes, all supported by a deft use of oak, firm yet pliable tannins and a long, detailed finish. Shows fine overall harmony and potential." Wine Spectator
"This vineyard site sits at 550 meters in altitude, with clay soils spread over 1.5 hectares. The Tenuta di Trinoro 2019 Campo di Camagi is another site-specific expression of Cabernet Franc from a vintner who has produced some of the greatest expressions of this Bordelais grape made in Italy. What distinguishes this bottle next to, say, the Campo di Magnacosta (with looser alluvial limestone and sandstone soils) is the wine's overall sense of concentration and fruit weight. It is full and generous, leaving a big impact on all the senses. This wine packs a powerful punch with black fruit, spice, tobacco and scorched earth." Robert Parker

Black cherry red with a violet rim. In the nose notes of spices like ginger, cinnamon, dried coriander and vanilla bean, rounded off with fruit flavours of pomegranate, cherry and floral nuances like geranium, lavender and rose. Fresh rose sugar and graphite on the palate; plus raspberry, cherry, fresh plum and cranberries. Long in the finish with a fine cassis note. SUPERIORE.DE
"Plenty of fresh, crushed raspberries and currants with hints of wood. Medium to full body. Fine tannins and a clean finish." James Suckling
"Here’s a happy surprise from the Tuscan Coast and definitely one of the most memorable samples I tasted from this region this year. The 2016 Tinata is a beautifully balanced blend of Syrah and Grenache that hits all its proverbial nails on the head. I admire the fullness and generosity of the wine (that is never heavy), its depth and complexity (that is never banal) and its power (that is not overblown). You get the savory fullness of Syrah with black fruit, tobacco, smoke and spice and some of the vertical freshness of the Grenache. The tannins are softly textured to the point of being creamy. It gives me great joy to enthusiastically recommend this exciting wine from Monteverro." Robert Parker

“Contrada Sciaranuova Vecchie Vigne” Rosso Etna DOC 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Tasca got involved in Etna early on and the latest result of these years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante estate: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are filigree and profound, and despite their power, acidity and taut tannin, very elegant, finesse-rich and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine - due to the altitude, soil composition and morphology of the historic lava flows. A high annual rainfall ensures that the soil has all the water it needs, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the aromatic diversity of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.
The Sciaranuova parcel is situated at an average altitude of 730 metres above sea level between the villages of Montelaguardia and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of about 4.9 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. Within the Sciaranuova parcel is a small cru site whose vines were planted in 1961. The bottles, produced in very small quantities, are labelled "Vigna Vecchia". Compared to its "younger brother", this rare wine shows increased complexity, depth and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Just mid ruby and already a touch developed. Elegant, beautiful even! Pure, sweet raspberry and cherry notes mingling with earth and minerals. Gorgeous fragrant raspberry and firm tannins that push the fruit on the finish. Still austere and in need of more bottle age." Jancis Robinson
"Moderately saturated ruby-red. Very pure aromas and flavors of blood orange, potpourri, red cherry nectar, minerals and sweet spices. Very light on its feet and extremely suave, with outstanding acid-sugar-tannin balance, this is actually less weighty on the palate than the regular Sciaranuova bottling. The finish is very long and pure." Vinous
"This wine is made from Tascante's oldest vines, planted in 1961. The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova V.V. (the initials stand for Vigna Vecchia or "old vines") is a beautifully polished and glossy expression with a fine and smooth aromatic presentation. It starts off with primary notes of forest berry and cassis and spans all the way over to campfire ash and camphor. That range is as beautiful as it is impressive. The mouthfeel is silky and soft with fine, powdery tannins. Put this delicate wine aside for a few more years. Some 5,000 bottles were produced." Robert Parker

“Keir” Syrah Toscana IGT 2018 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Here comes the second vintage of Tua Rita's new wine from the Alta Maremma. Just 2,500 bottles of this 100% Syrah will be bottled, aged (on the skins) for half a year in amphorae, then filtered and matured in small French oak barrels.
Radiant ruby red. On the nose, a seductive mix of cherry with hints of chocolate, herbs and a subtle liquorice note. On the palate, cherry again, complemented by a kaleidoscope of chocolate, coffee and a subtle juniper note. A fabulous acid structure and fine-grained tannins guide the precisely composed wine into a furious final. Keir complements the winery's high-class portfolio in a very independent and emphatic way. Great! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby with brightening rim. Very clear and inviting note with hints of raspberry and clove, some Szechuan pepper, also spicy rosemary. Lots of present fruit, also lots of raspberry on the palate, firm tannin, grippy on the final." Falstaff
"The 2018 Keir very much stands out in this set of new releases from Tua Rita. A passion project and something of an intellectual challenge accepted mutually by Stefano Frascolla and Luca D'Attoma, this is Syrah fermented in Tuscan amphorae with six months of skin contact. This vintage is especially delicate and pure, and one important reason for this is the growing season that was extended by 15 days in this 2018 vintage. That extra time allowed the fruit to mature slowly according to its own time table. This is a luxury that is appreciated by Syrah in particular. The wine emerges with delicate, almost fragile aromas of wild rose, wet earth, violets and crushed black pepper. Syrah is very expressive of territory and vintage, and this wine speak of classic Tuscany. It is naked in its purity." Robert Parker
"The first vintage of Keir in 2016 signalled a new style of wine for Tua Rita: 100% Syrah fermented and macerated on the skins for six months in terracotta amphorae. This 2018 has mineral, gun-flinty aromas but with lively, pure flavours of brambles, smoke and liquorice. It has a beautifully elegant, gossamer palate with very fine-textured tannins." Decanter

“Keir” Syrah Toscana IGT 2019 · 3 Bottles in Gift Box
Here comes the third vintage of Stefano Frascolla's heart project from the Alta Maremma. Just 2,500 bottles of this 100% Syrah are bottled, aged (on the skins) for half a year in amphorae, then filtered and matured in small French oak barrels.
Radiant ruby red. On the nose, a seductive mix of cherry with hints of chocolate, herbs and a subtle liquorice note. "The green-tobacco and pepper character is very intense with blackberry and black-cherry undertones. Full-bodied and layered with soft tannins that are creamy and very pretty. A full yet soft-textured palate. Succulent and delicious." James Suckling
"A pure expression of Syrah that spends six months in amphorae, the Tua Rita 2019 Keir Rosso is a gregarious and super fun wine that is a joy to drink and a great conversation starter thanks to the crafty approach used in its winemaking. Long skin maceration times give the wine extra intensity. The tightly pored surface of the clay amphorae (that are fired in kilns at very hot temperatures and long durations) means that the wine gets less oxygen during winemaking. This contributes to its delicate and elegant flavors and ultimately to the promising longevity of this vintage. Keir is not as full-bodied as other Tuscan Syrahs, but the wine shows terrific purity and focus instead. The bouquet offers punchy black fruit, plum, tea leaf and savory tobacco." Robert Parker
"2019 is for Stefano Frascolla an exceptional vintage - one of the best vintages of the last two decades. Bright magenta in colour with an exuberant nose of vivid sweet blackcurrant, cream and spice, this has youthful raspberry, white pepper and flint flavours mixed with concentrated yet vibrant fruit. Impossible to resist, with a lovely weightless texture and harmony, it dances seamlessly across the palate and disappears with incredible lightness but lingering flavours. Syrah meets Burgundy!" “Franchetti” Rosso Terre Siciliane IGT 2019 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Franchetti Rosso is Passopisciaro's flagship wine and a stunningly perfect wine. The grapes come from 1000-metre-high northern Etna vineyard sites, where the soils are ash and pumice. Franchetti is a ripe, exotic wine that envelops the palate with dark fruit. Refined tannins support the fruit, while an intense inner sweetness adds elegance and finesse. A thoroughly outstanding drop. SUPERIORE.DE
"Expressive, of cherry syrup, ripe blackberries, graphite, a hint of grape juice, elegant spice in the finish. With great substance and concentration, without being full-bodied, clear and precise fruit, stretches wide, savoury, tightly meshed, long." Falstaff

Vin Santo di Montepulciano DOC 2001 dolce · 2 Bottles à 0,375l in OWC
Caramel Vin Santo with intense aromas of toffee and dark chocolate, enriched with acacia honey and Mediterranean herbs. Notes of freesia, candied orange peel and French pastry. On the palate, this fascinating sweet wine reveals a blend of fig, almond and lemon aromas, followed by roasted coffee beans. The perfect balance between acidity and sweetness leads to a sensual finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2001 Vin Santo di Montepulciano (375 milliliters) is a divine and superbly delicious sweet blend of Trebbiano, Malvasia and Grechetto. The results are super concentrated and simmered down to a virtual reduction sauce of deliciousness. There are so many aromas to name, but some of the most evident highlights include candied orange peel, almond marzipan, caramel, toasted coffee bean, vanilla stick, mocha, dark honey and fragrant yellow rose. The mouthfeel is creamy, rich and deeply layered. I'm suggesting a slightly shorter drinking window here compared to the Occhio di Pernice. But, the truth is: I have no idea. I'm pretty sure these wines will outlive anyone of legal drinking age." Robert Parker
"Thick in consistency, with aromas and flavors of dried fig, espresso, macadamia nut and raisin. Intensely sweet, offering lingering accents of leather and cigar. For all the unctuousness, this stays balanced and finishes clean." Wine Spectator

Barolo “Mosconi” DOCG 2017 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Four years ago, Pio Boffa bought himself a "small" present for his 60th birthday. Not a new set of golf clubs, a picture hanging in the hall, a holiday for him and the family. No. Just a vineyard called Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba, a region of Piedmont where four generations of the Pio Cesare dynasty never gained a foothold. Originally, the grapes from the 10-hectare vineyard were to enhance the quality of his classic Barolo, but after the first barrel samples, it was unmistakably clear to Pio Boffa that this would be at least an equal - if stylistically different - counterpart to the hitherto undisputed flagship Ornato.
Mosconi is more light-footed than Ornato, with red rather than black fruits dominating the nose, along with irresistible liquorice and a juiciness that will immediately earn it a top place in the entire appellation. On the palate, it has a precision that is unparalleled, being less punchy than Ornato, but more elegant and subtle. SUPERIORE.DE"Light red; fruity-spicy, leafy, inviting, deep; fine, delicate attack, fruit deep, balanced, elegant, length, very nice." (JLF) Merum
"Shiny, rich garnet red. Very fragrant nose with notes of pomegranate and rhubarb, some resinous notes to it, rich cherry, some blood orange. Compact and at the same time polished tannin, opens continuously and finely, shows fine ripened fruit notes, firm pressure and good melting." Falstaff
"Bright cherry and currant flavors are matched to savory notes of eucalyptus, juniper and rosemary in this intense red, with an underlying mineral streak. Overall, this is balanced and long." Wine Spectator
"Mosconi is an MGA that is often picked late and so could possibly have benefitted from the warm and dry 2017 vintage. This example from Pio Cesare is focused on elegance with lifted, concentrated aromas and flavours of orange peel, strawberry jam, rose and a touch of smoke, which all become intoxicating on the palate. This great intensity and concentration are supported by firm, muscular tannins and an assertive finish, combined with crisp acidity. Rarely in this 2017 vintage do we find this combination of fruit weight and strength of structure." Decanter
"The 2017 Barolo Mosconi is a beautiful, translucent wine that expresses too much of the best this site has to offer. Iron, dried herbs, chalk and white pepper give the Mosconi its signature aromatic profile. Pio Cesare's Mosconi is the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove. It's mid-weight structure and light (even for Nebbiolo) color can be deceiving. There is certainly plenty of punch here." Vinous
"Now in its third vintage, this is the newest member of the extended Pio Cesare family. With fruit from the village of Monforte d'Alba, the 2017 Barolo Mosconi hits that sweet spot somewhere on the continuum between elegance and power. Perhaps this hot vintage (and its 14.5% alcohol content) inches a little closer to the side of power, but it does so in a most understated and graceful manner. The wine shows the freshness and lifted fruit that is normally associated with this special vineyard site." Robert Parker
"Aromas of underbrush, camphor, purple flower and forest berry slowly take shape in this classy, full-bodied red. It combines structure and finesse, featuring crushed raspberry, juicy Marasca cherry, tobacco and baking spice framed in taut, elegant tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it nicely balanced." Wine Enthusiast
"Subtle aromas of crushed stone and cherry with dried strawberry and white truffle, following through to a full body. Yet it is tight and very tannic with a fine-grained texture and a long, intense finish. A superb combination of structure and finesse. Very typical for Mosconi and the Ginestre area. Exceptional." “Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2015 · 3 Bottles in OWC
Monteverro - a classic French blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - is full of opulence and variety. Incredibly rich in aromas of dark fruits, chocolate and spices, soft, full-bodied, polished tannins. The greatness of this wine cannot be exaggerated. A masterpiece by Michel Rolland. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, dark ruby with a black core. A pleasant blend, with notes of macchia herbs, thyme, rosemary and curry, then rich blackberry and dark currant, some chocolate. Builts up on the palate like a peacock, much fine-meshed, dense tannin with firm core, dark berry fruit, fills the palate full, sweet enamel, still looks very young." Falstaff
"The 2015 Monteverro comes out with gangbuster intensity and richness, keeping the wine very much in line with our expectations of this profound and exuberant vintage. This wine is lavishly layered with dark fruit, dried cherry, tar, smoke and exotic spice. Those aromas just jump right out at you, never letting up in intensity or complexity." Robert Parker
"Wow. The nose here is alive with oyster shell, iodine, crushed stones, lavender, freshly picked blackcurrants, licorice and dried sage and thyme. Full-bodied and very deeply flavored, but the tannins are beautifully polished and dialed-in. The juxtaposition between sweet and sour flavors and umami nuances is enough to take anyone’s breath away. Delicious now, but better in 2024." James Suckling

The single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon Toren is the only red cru from Tiefenbrunner's rare Vigna line and comes from a 0.6 ha microlocation with clay and limestone gravel soils: Sparkling garnet red with a slight violet shimmer. Very intense and appealing nose, smelling of cassis, blackberry, tobacco and mint. Also on the palate rich, incisive fruit, mountains of cassis and cranberries, juicy and dense, builds up nicely with ripe tannin, long final. SUPERIORE.DE

Intense ruby red. Complex aromas of ripe black fruits and liquorice, rounded off with notes of tobacco and truffles. Soft and fresh on the palate, with an impressive texture. Velvety tannins and opulent mouth-filling lead this wine from an excellent vintage into a long and elegant final. A delicious, modern interpretation of Brunello, full of personality, brightness and sunshine! SUPERIORE.DE
"From vineyards at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level: On the nose, aromas of wild berries, lilac and pepper are pleasing; balanced texture with polish, racy tannin and noticeable acidity, vinified with precision, nuanced yet powerful final." Vinum
"Deep, smoky, earthy aroma, ripe cherries, blueberries, clear tobacco and spicy notes, chocolate, a touch of graphite. In the mouth immensely powerful and dense, everything seems to be in a higher gear, the supple fullness is supported by an acidity that seems to be chiselled as well as by fine-meshed tannins, powerful final. As in the previous year, of excellent quality, some find it too "modern", but you can't talk this wine down. Weinwisser
"Powerful ruby with fine garnet rim. Very compact nose with inviting notes of ripe, dark cherries, blackberries, fine spice in the background. Juicy and round in attack and course, shows a lot of present fruit, fine-meshed tannin in many layers, firm pressure in the final, compact." Falstaff
"Deep, lustrous ruby. Taut nose with rich cherry fruit underneath and a complex oak note. Full, yet sleek on the palate with lots of grainy tannins kept beautifully in check by the generous succulent cherry fruit. Ends full, concentrated and a little vibrant. The enormous alcohol of this wine simply goes unnoticed, until you look at the label." Jancis Robinson
"From the Frescobaldi family of Florence, the Luce della Vite (or Tenuta Luce) 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Luce is a wine of depth and intensity. This 2016 vintage goes further and offers more substance than most of the recent vintages we've seen. It reveals a dark color and appearance with cocktail cherry, balsam spice and a touch of white chocolate. The tannins are dry, but the wine compensates with a good dose of that concentrated fruit richness that defines this classic vintage." Robert Parker
"Lighter in colour than the Luce, higher acidity even on the aromatics, gorgeously sculpted and nuanced, with kick and backbone. A savoury edge to the fruit, and strong spices, we are here at almost five years since harvest and you feel the softened tannins with tobacco and olive paste alongside still bright cherry fruits. This is sliding towards being ready to drink, although a few more years will really open things up." Decanter
"Pure black cherry, blackberry and black currant flavors abound in this rich red, supported by graphite, earth, wild rosemary and anise notes. Balanced and almost approachable now, yet the refined tannins and bright acidity should allow this to develop for decades." Wine Spectator
"Ripe, decadent aromas of blackberries, black truffles and black cherries with hints of violets. Dark, wet earth, too. Full-bodied with a solid core of beautiful, pure fruit and creamy, round and fine tannins. Tight and reserved, but showing wonderful potential." James Suckling

"Another transparent ruby red with garnet reflections. Exciting bouquet with distinct notes of blood oranges and candied orange peel, plus finest Dominican tobacco and leather, dazzling and individual. Elegant palate with fresh, cherry-influenced fruit, grippy, punchy, finely chiselled style with silky firm tannin, plus salty mineral nuances in the long finish." Weinwisser
"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Almost explosive minerality on the nose with hints of sour cherry and a suggestion of savoury oak. Complex but still holding back on the nose. Gorgeous supple fruit with polished, finely ground but firm tannins, almost a little Serralunga-like. Bags to chew on and spectacular multi-layered aromas on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"Rich, with plum and cherry flavors, this Barolo also shows a savory side of eucalyptus, licorice and clove. Reveals viscosity to the texture as well as terrific balance. Ends with dense, refined tannins and lingering steeped fruit and savory notes." Wine Spectator
"Very compact both on the nose and palate, offering dried red berries and notes of truffle-tinged sous-bois and dried flowers. Full-bodied with a fine-tannin framework and a very long finish. Compact and solid. This needs plenty of time to open, but is showing real class. Try from 2025." James Suckling
