      BLA BLA 2 is a so-called comet wine made from 100% Blatterle, an almost completely forgotten autochthonous grape variety from South Tyrol. The grapes come from vineyards in Bolzano at about 280 m above sea level. The fruits of the experimental white wine vinified in small quantities of 980 bottles are crushed completely for 3 weeks. The maturation takes place on the full yeast for approx. 18 months in used barriques. As with the first BLA BLA, the grapes of two vintages were blended together.

      This uniquely exciting white wine is strongly reductive, but despite its purism it is nevertheless recognizably Burgundian with a dominant salty note. For us it is a meditation wine, which needs a lot of air as well as leisure and peace - only then the wine connoisseur will have a unique experience. Unfiltered and without final sulphur additive.       SEM XVII is a so-called comet wine from 100% Semillion, probably unique in this form South Tyrol vinified. The grapes of this wine, produced in very small quantities (372 bottles), come from the wedge at Margreid, about 230 metres above sea level. The variations in temperature during the day play a decisive role in developing the finest aromas, which are elegant and complex. It is almost light-footed, svelte, delicate and at the same time very fine. It is the result of many years of work in selecting the right Sangiovese clones in the Le Caggiole vineyard of the same name, consisting of 4 plots.

      Tasca was involved in Etna at an early stage and the latest result of this many years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante winery: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are filigree and profound, and despite their strength, acidity and tight tannin very elegant, rich in finesse and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine due to the altitude, soil and morphology of the historical lava flows. A high annual rainfall secures all water reserves for the soil, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the variety of aromas of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.

      The Sciaranuova plot is situated at an average altitude of 730 metres above sea level between the villages of Montelaguardia and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of approximately 4.9 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. Within the Sciaranuova plot there is a small cru vineyard, whose vines were planted in 1961. The bottles produced in very small quantities bear the words 'Vigna Vecchia'. Compared to its "younger brother", this rare wine has an increased complexity, depth and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE

      "This wine is made from Tascante's oldest vines, planted in 1961. The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova V.V. (the initials stand for Vigna Vecchia or "old vines") is a beautifully polished and glossy expression with a fine and smooth aromatic presentation. It starts off with primary notes of forest berry and cassis and spans all the way over to campfire ash and camphor. That range is as beautiful as it is impressive. The mouthfeel is silky and soft with fine, powdery tannins. Put this delicate wine aside for a few more years. Some 5,000 bottles were produced." Robert Parker
