“Valmaggiore Sibi et Paucis” Nebbiolo d’Alba Riserva DOC 2013 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Luciano has been holding back a small amount of his Nebbiolo Valmaggiore for several years now and has it matured further on the bottle in his cellar. The result is a result under the name "Sibi et Paucis", which impressively underpins the cult status of his "little Barolo". Ruby red and with a phenomenal fragrance - balsamic and earthy, but also fine-fruity. The disciplined taste with the wonderfully balanced, velvety tannins merges into a long aftertaste and is accompanied by fine fruit and mint aromas. Wonderful elegance with even more ageing potential. SUPERIORE.DE

    • "Carmenère di San Leonardo" Rosso Dolomiti IGT 2015
3 Bottles in OWC

“Carmenère di San Leonardo” Rosso Dolomiti IGT 2015 · 3 Bottles in OWC

The Carmenère grape, which is hardly represented in Italy and is usually more located in the Médoc, is masterfully reinterpreted by the Tenuta San Leonardo. Deep, dark ruby red, in the bouquet broad shouldered to dark fruit and with very harmonious spice. The barely noticeable acidity makes it round on the palate, silky smooth and extremely long and elegant. Also with this pure red, the winery impressively shows its lonely class in the region. SUPERIORE.DE

"Carmenère in the north of Italy has a long history despite sometimes being confused with other grape varieties. Very few are producing it 100% as is this top selection of San Leonardo. Coming from the oldest vineyards of the estate, this wine is made with the same style of the blend: spontaneous 15/18 days of fermentation in small concrete vats with periodic pumpovers and délestage, than 24 months of maturation of partly new French oak. Full of spice aromas, such as black pepper, almost curry, clove and mostly coffee powder, it shows an amazing grace of silky tannins and delicate acidity." Decanter

“Vigna dell’Impero 1935” Rosso Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2015 · 3 Bottles in OWC

The Sangiovese grapes of this wine come from the vineyard of the Empire of His Royal Highness the Count of Turin, Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy, who planted it in 1935. The soil is a mixture of clay and gravel, rich in marl and rock, which gives the grapes a spectacular minerality. The variations in temperature during the day play a decisive role in developing the finest aromas, which are elegant and complex. The wine, bottled in numbered bottles, is not filtered in order to preserve all the typical varietal notes and characteristics of Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, intense garnet red. Very open and accessible nose, old-style in the best sense, of rhubarb, pomegranate, sour cherry and cherry stones. Relaxed and supple at the base, it opens with a grippy, fine-grained tannin, salty and very long, ripe fruit in the aftertaste". (Place 11 / 100 "Best 100 under 100€) Falstaff

"The 2015 Valdarno di Sopra Vigna dell'Impero offers aromas of candied cherry, blackberry, spice and leather. The finish is on the soft side, and I am assigning a slightly shorter drinking window for this warm vintage as a result. The fruit is concentrated and rich, thanks to the heat of the growing season." Robert Parker

"A tight and focused red with cherry, earth and orange peel. Roses, too. Full body yet very reserved with ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and beautiful. Old vine sangiovese. Shows outstanding potential. " James Suckling

"This shows sugar-coated apples, vanilla, spices, lemon curd, dried pineapples, caramelized papaya, cream and pie crust. Full body, medium acidity and layers of fleshy tropical and stone fruit. Finishes long and creamy." James Suckling

"Expansive, ripe and richly textured, the Monteverro 2015 Chardonnay is a full-bodied white that doles out generous and opulent fruit. The wine is creamy, fibrous and succulent with a long range of apricot, tropical fruit, toasted almond and delicate vanilla-like aromas. Half of the assembled blend is aged in French barrique for 14 months and the other half goes into cement eggs. The results are bright, tonic and clear, but the wine maintains that deep inner sense of sunshine and concentration that is characteristic of this warm vintage." Robert Parker

“Le Caggiole” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC

In 1988 the first Caggiole came on the market and already in 1995 it disappeared again, because at that time the flagship Asinone simply met the taste of the consumers better. Today - after more than 20 years of abstinence - the Nobile Le Caggiole is back on the market as the new first wine of the house.

It is salty, mineral and refined. It represents the terroir and the grape variety Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) like no other wine of the house. It is light-footed, svelte, delicate and very fine. It is the result of many years of work in selecting the right Sangiovese clones in the Le Caggiole vineyard of the same name, which is made up of 4 plots.

Dott. Federico Carletti, owner of the estate, has dedicated this masterpiece to his wife Anna, setting a new standard for Poliziano and the entire denomination. We are very pleased to present this strictly limited top wine! SUPERIORE.DE

"Made entirely with Sangiovese, this has aromas of mature black-skinned fruit, exotic spice, camphor and whiffs of French oak. Firmly structured but elegant, the linear palate delivers Marasca cherry, red plum, espresso and licorice framed in tightly knit, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it fresh and balanced." • "Contrada Sciarianuova Vecchie Vigne" Rosso Etna DOC 2016
3 Flaschen in Original-Holzkiste

“Contrada Sciarianuova Vecchie Vigne” Rosso Etna DOC 2016 · 3 Flaschen in Original-Holzkiste

Tasca was involved in Etna at an early stage and the latest result of this many years of experience are four new single vineyard wines from the Tascante winery: Contrada Rampante, Pianodario, Sciaranuova and Sciaranuova Vigna Vecchia (V.V.). The wines are filigree and profound, and despite their strength, acidity and tight tannin very elegant, rich in finesse and light-footed on the palate. Each of the four plots brings a slightly different style and personality to the wine due to the altitude, soil and morphology of the historical lava flows. A high annual rainfall secures all water reserves for the soil, and the temperature fluctuations between day and night support the variety of aromas of the grapes and ultimately the ripening potential.

The Sciaranuova plot is situated at an average altitude of 730 metres above sea level between the villages of Montelaguardia and Passopisciaro. It covers an area of approximately 4.9 hectares of vineyards. The soils are of volcanic origin and up to 40,000 years old. Within the Sciaranuova plot there is a small cru vineyard, whose vines were planted in 1961. The bottles produced in very small quantities bear the words 'Vigna Vecchia'. Compared to its "younger brother", this rare wine has an increased complexity, depth and elegance. SUPERIORE.DE

"Just mid ruby and already a touch developed. Elegant, beautiful even! Pure, sweet raspberry and cherry notes mingling with earth and minerals. Gorgeous fragrant raspberry and firm tannins that push the fruit on the finish. Still austere and in need of more bottle age." Jancis Robinson

"Moderately saturated ruby-red. Very pure aromas and flavors of blood orange, potpourri, red cherry nectar, minerals and sweet spices. Very light on its feet and extremely suave, with outstanding acid-sugar-tannin balance, this is actually less weighty on the palate than the regular Sciaranuova bottling. The finish is very long and pure." Vinous

"This wine is made from Tascante's oldest vines, planted in 1961. The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Sciaranuova V.V. (the initials stand for Vigna Vecchia or "old vines") is a beautifully polished and glossy expression with a fine and smooth aromatic presentation. It starts off with primary notes of forest berry and cassis and spans all the way over to campfire ash and camphor. That range is as beautiful as it is impressive. The mouthfeel is silky and soft with fine, powdery tannins. Put this delicate wine aside for a few more years. Some 5,000 bottles were produced." Robert Parker

"The 2011 Colorino Taffe Ta', Poggiopiano's 100% Colorino, is a real stunner. Inky blue/purplish fruit, smoke, tar, graphite, licorice and menthol saturate the palate as this dramatic, ripe wine shows off its unmistakable personality. Colorino is most often seen as a blender with Sangiovese in Chianti Classico, rarely on its own. Poggiopiano's version is a real turn-on and one of the most unique, riveting wines being made in Tuscany today. One of the best Brunello of the modern style since its debut in 2003. Bright ruby red and a bouquet of delicate vanilla, some roasted aromas and dried raisins. A powerful wine with ripe fruit and notes of tobacco, dark cherry and spices that enchants lovers of powerful and powerful red wines. SUPERIORE.DE

"A modern style, this boasts plenty of new oak, bringing vanilla, toast and resin elements, along with a layer of prickly tannins. Shows ample ripe fruit midpalate, and should integrate in two to three years." Wine Spectator

"The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Luce is packed tight with brightness and sunshine. Compared to the family's other Brunellos made under the Castelgiocondo brand, this wine is more opulent, more concentrated and more modern or contemporary overall. It is designed to appeal to an international audience for sure and most certainly delivers the goods if you are looking for roundness, ripe fruit and thick texture. It is deliciously irresistible with bold cherry, exotic spice and tobacco. That bright acidity on the close will help the wine age carefully over the next 10 years." Robert Parker

    • Barolo "Mosconi" DOCG 2015
3 Bottles in OWC

Barolo “Mosconi” DOCG 2015 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Four years ago, Pio Boffa bought himself a "little" present for his 60th birthday. Not a new set of golf clubs, a picture hanging in the hall, a holiday for him and the family. No. Only one vineyard called Mosconi in Monforte d'Alba, a region of Piedmont where four generations of the Pio Cesare dynasty could never gain a foothold. Originally the grapes of the 10 ha vineyard were supposed to increase the quality of its classic Barolo, but after the first barrel tastings Pio Boffa was unmistakably clear that this would be at least an equal - albeit stylistically different - counterpart to the hitherto undisputed flagship Ornato.

And he was so right. Mosconi 2015 is a real jewel and will be an exciting challenge for Ornato in the years to come. And yet he is not, because Mosconi is different. It is more light-footed, in the nose the red rather than the black fruits dominate, in addition an irresistible liquorice and a juiciness, which will grant it immediately a top place in the entire appellation. On the palate it is of a precision that is unparalleled, less powerful than the ornato, but more elegant and subtle. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling, brightening garnet red. Complex and inviting nose, of truffles, lots of plums, some goji berries and leather. Dense and substantial on the palate, shows beautiful ripe fruit, unfolds with fine-meshed tannin in many layers, rich pressure." Falstaff

"Maturing mid ruby with bricky tinges. Embracing and rich on the nose with a spicy edge. The tannins keep clinging to the palate while the fruit is still backward. Supple finish with lots of ripe, grainy tannins." Jancis Robinson

"The company bought this fine Monforte vineyard in 2014, and this is their first vintage, which is mostly aged in barriques, The nose is perfumed, with rose aromas and great charm and finesse. The palate is svelte but has great concentration and a firm tannic backbone. Indeed, it's rather grippy now but not tough. There's power but the alcohol is in check, lending an imposing character and a very long finish." Decanter

"This is the first red from this producer from the Mosconi vineyard and it’s a triumph. Classic Mosconi character, showing the sun and richness of the zone. Aromas of white truffles, tobacco, dried leaves and wet earth. Then it goes fresh and bright. Full body, velvety tannins and a long and gorgeous finish." James Suckling
