“Carleone” Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Sparkling ruby with a pronounced garnet shimmer. Very inviting aroma of cherries and delicate meadow herbs, with a nutty touch. Medium-bodied on the palate, again wonderfully juicy fruit, cool, mineral style, very finely structured and balanced, with lively animo, lingers quite long and makes you want to drink the next glass. Perfect companion to Italian dishes. SUPERIORE.DE

"Just mid ruby. Lifted, sweetly spiced raspberry nose with hints of black pepper and malt. Gentle raspberry fruit with a nervy tangy vein. There is a sense of richness and intensity but without being heavy. Explosive juiciness. Coating tannins build a perfect unity with the masses of raspberry fruit on the finish." Jancis Robinson

"Sean O'Callaghan is a passionate, obsessed and intensely faithful producer of Sangiovese. He sees the same potential in it as in Nebbiolo or Pinot Noir, and this Chianti Classico is as exquisite as the top wines made from those other noble grapes. Intriguing perfume, both elegant and spicy. The flavours, though pure and brilliant, are somewhat overshadowed by the structure and texture. It is so seamless, with such expert tailoring that it glides, soars even, over the palate. Very fine." Decanter

Sparkling, rich ruby. Intense scent of raspberries and cassis, herbal spicy notes. Smooth, dense, fresh and juicy berry fruit on the palate. Long, voluminous and elegant - and not only because of the price a clear buy! SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark ruby with a hint of garnet and brightening rim. Minimally reductive on the nose at first, then a little bacon-smoky, finally rich leather and dark berry fruit. Polished on the palate with rich fruit, currently still seems very young, a bit wide-meshed on the back end." Falstaff

"A blend of mostly Sangiovese with smaller parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a touch of Alicante Bouschet, the Fattoria la Massa 2018 La Massa is a textured and softly pliable wine that shows gorgeous color saturation and a panoramic bouquet with black fruit, dried cherry, plum, spice and sweet tobacco. This vintage offered moments of heat and moments of coolness, and the whole approach is balanced quite nicely in this bottle. I give it a solid 10-year drinking window, and you get great value." Dark fruits form the backbone of its aromatic body, to which a moderately dosed floral and balsamic perfume lends additional charm and freshness. The dense flavour is coherent, exuding its spiciness in a relaxed manner while revealing a fine tannic grid. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright rich ruby with violet. Spicy-scented nose, of sugared violets, ripe Amarena cherry and lush plums, subtle pepper spice. On the palate with a slight melt and some juiciness, medium-bodied, also spicy, minimal aftertaste in the finish." Falstaff

"A beam of bright cherry permeates this round, supple red. Raspberry, earth, iron and tobacco notes play supporting roles, while dusty tannins prevail on the finish." Wine Spectator

"This is a nicely balanced wine that offers the tangy freshness and acidity of the first grape ironed out and softened by that smaller percentage of the second. The wine is redolent of cherry, blackberry and plum. Its primary intensity is bright and cheerful. The finish shows pretty thickness, extraction and nicely integrated tannins." Robert Parker

Ripe and intense the bouquet of Poggio Valente from the single vineyard of the same name, with its very full-bodied, sweet tannins. Combines freshness and depth in a successful way and ends in a very elegant final. SUPERIORE.DE

"Extremely floral and perfumed with blueberry, chocolate and violet aromas. Full body. Very silky and refined texture with a gorgeous berry and cherry aftertaste. Finely textured." James Suckling

"The 2016 Poggio Valente is a total knockout. Ample and resonant, with tremendous richness, the 2016 is fabulous from the very first taste. A whole rush of Sangiovese aromas and flavors build as this potent, full-bodied, pure Sangiovese shows off its considerable power. Hints of tobacco, cedar and mint add the closing shades of dimension. The 2016 was aged in 500-600L. French and Slovakian oak, with a touch of Hungarian and Austrian wood for greater complexity." Vinous

"The 2016 Poggio Valente is precise and direct, the result of a lot of enological brain power and Coastal Tuscany's answer to Brunello Montalcino. It's an excellent expression of Sangiovese, with pretty floral and fruity notes, earthy tones and an unforgettable cameo appearance of blossoming rose. Give the wine ample time to open in the glass." Strong, bright ruby red. This one-hundred-percent Nero d'Avola is a captivating wine with its rich, fruity-spicy aroma of blackcurrants, cherries, undergrowth, liquorice and dark chocolate. The soft but firm, warm taste of ripe berry fruit, fine spice and the noble tannin inspire us very much. SUPERIORE.DE

"Elegantly shining ruby red. On the nose of blood oranges, rose hips, sealing wax and wild strawberries. Precise, fresh and clear on the palate, spans the tongue with plenty of juice and fruit, balanced on the finish with a slight saltiness." Falstaff

"The 2017 Nero d'Avola Santa Cecilia explodes from the glass with masses of crushed stone, blackberries, cherries, wild herbs and hints of brown sugar. This is silky in texture with depths of sapid dark fruits complemented by sweet spice and pretty violet florals that form toward the close. The power of the warm southern coast comes through as the 2017 traverses richness with a beautiful acid-driven lift. It tapers off long to mineral-tinged wild berries framed by subtle tannins." • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Caparzo is one of two estates in Montalcino (the other is called Altesino, by the way) owned by the utterly charming Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini. Caparzo's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a very classic interpretation that delivers the perfect stuff without distracting frills. The wine opens with aromas of red and purple fruits, with dried herbs, potting soil, cedar and light spices showing in the background. The fruit comes from a site with heavier clay soils, one gets a good impression of this additional density and richness here. The 2016 vintage, which is simply perfect in terms of climate, offers everything you are looking for in an exemplary and generous Brunello. This is pure pleasure, the style of the wines simply makes you want more ... SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark ruby red. In the nose slightly flowery, after violets, then citrus accentuated on oranges and lemons, but develops in the glass and opens up after some time on red berry nuances paired with noble spice. Shows fine polish on the palate, elegant cranberry fruit, has many layers and great pressure, seems very balanced, gripping tannin in the finish." Falstaff

"Prior to acquiring the Altesino estate, Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini purchased Caparzo in 1998. The property includes 28 hectares designated for Brunello and this estate bottling amalgamates vineyards from four distinct areas with different exposures and soils. The 2016 is charming with a delicate lightness and lively brightness. Violet, rosemary and liquorice aromas lead to cool mint and brambly notes on the palate. Easy flowing and seamless with smooth tannins and a dusty cherry finish." Decanter

"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino shows mineral-laced black cherries with earth tones and hints of tanned leather. It's soft in texture with a polished display of ripe berries and savory spice, as zesty acids create a juicy expression while slow-mounting tannins collect upon the senses. This turns dry and structured toward the finale, yet with the balance for a long and steady evolution in the cellar. This is really very nice." Vinous

"Plum, ripe-berry and floral aromas with hints of sandalwood and fresh mushrooms. It's full-bodied with firm, ripe tannins and a fresh, crushed-stone finish. A little timid now." James Suckling

"Ripe, sweet cherry and raspberry fruit are accented by floral, mineral and wild herbs in this alluring red. A backbone of dense, dusty tannins provides support, and the ripe fruit returns on the savory finish. Excellent length." Wine Spectator

    • "Titolo" Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2018
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

“Titolo” Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2018 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Elena Fucci's exceptional wine Titolo is already built for the long haul in the "basic variant". It will continue its steady development for at least the next 20 years, so it is a joy to drink at a mature age, especially in magnum format. Dark ruby red, on the nose aromas of ripe red fruits and a fine wood spice. Put together with enormous precision, the wine offers a balanced intensity and a nice level of fruit purity that speaks both for the Aglianico grape and the extreme territory that produces it. Titolo convinces with its fine texture and elegantly integrated tannins. This is a masterful Aglianico performance, just the way we love it. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, dark ruby garnet. Fragrant nose of dried rose, ripe strawberries, a hint of vanilla, honey in the aftertaste, inviting bouquet. Opens softly on the palate with polished tannin, clear red fruit, stretches finely and elegantly over the tongue, compact tannin presses gently on the palate in the finish." Falstaff

"There's no mistaking the masses of pure, mineral-laden, musky Aglianico del Vulture fruit that wafts up from the 2018 Titolo. It's dark, with violet florals and smoke smoldering in the glass. The silky and pliant textures within wash a polished wave of mineral-tinged black fruits and savory exotic spices across the palate with ease, propelled by zesty acidity. Grippy tannins emerge, yet the mouth waters as a salty flourish lingers, along with hints of licorice and lavender. The 2018 won't be the longest-lived vintage of Titolo, but this beauty will excel easily through medium-term cellaring." Vinous

"Plush aromas of violet, juniper, cherry and bramble berry burst on the nose. Medium in weight, there's a driven, ample feel to the juicy red-cherry and blackberry flavors, with bits of tar and pressed rose arising on the midpalate. Yet, throughout the whole experience, bouncy berry fruit and zesty crushed mineral tones remain constant." Wine Enthusiast

“Korem” Bovale Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2017 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Only 5 copies and exclusive to us: hand-signed by winemaker Valentina Argiolas!

With the 2017 vintage, Korem celebrates its 20th anniversary. It is a wine that perfectly interprets the Argiolas family philosophy: Innovation with deep respect for Sardinian tradition. A wine born from the desire to enhance and perfect the Bovale vine. Bovale is a low-yielding grape variety, as it requires well-ventilated soils with excellent exposure. It is refined in Korem by the addition of Carignano and Cannonau, two other traditional Sardinian grape varieties.

Korem shines in deep ruby red from the glass. Intense berry aromas on the nose, velvety, full-bodied, warm and round on the palate. A top wine that impressively reflects the great potential of the family winery. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2017 Korem is a sweetly scented and perfumed effort presenting notes of crushed black cherries and spicy oak front and center. Its textures are velvety and rich in feel, with polished black fruits offset by hints of bitter espresso bean and tobacco. A fine coating of tannin lingers through the youthfully structured finale, along with hints of plum, licorice and lavender." Vinous

"A juicy, plummy red with clove, ash and smoked-meat character. It's full and layered with lots of fruit and richness. Round tannins. Some walnut undertones." James Suckling

    • "Castello di Brolio" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2015
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

“Castello di Brolio” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Castello di Brolio - a Super-Chianti Classico of the highest quality Gran Selezione and next to the Colledilà the second flagship of Barone Ricasoli. It comes from the vineyard of the same name, which has been the summer residence of the Ricasoli family since 1141. Powerful ruby, in the fragrance cherries, plums, some tobacco. On the palate it has a mature fruity note, racy, structured, long and full of finesse. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant, rich ruby with a slight garnet shimmer. Very open and accessible nose, smells seductively of ripe cherries, some cloves and blueberries. Round and smooth in the base and course, a very soft and round Chianti, fine-meshed tannin, a lot of sweet enamel." Falstaff

"Floral, cherry and bell pepper nose and taste, fine tannins, then a very long finish and gentle oaky aftertaste." Decanter

"Sweet, ripe cherry and raspberry flavors define this Chianti Classico from start to finish, augmented by almond, iron and tar accents, with a hefty dose of grainy tannins. All the elements come together on the juicy aftertaste." Wine Spectator

"The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio takes a few minutes to open and settle in the glass. The bouquet here is redolent of pressed cherry and dried blackberry with underbrush, dark spice, forest floor and even a touch of wild porcino mushroom. The mouthfeel is smooth and loosely textured, which gives the wine an accessible and immediate personality. These vineyard sites in Gaiole in Chianti are characterized by crushed alberese rock soils. These unique growing conditions always add to the focus and the sharpness of the aromas." Robert Parker

"A fresh and linear Gran Selezione Chianti Classico with firm and chewy tannins and dark fruits. Full body. Structured. Give it two or three years to come together." James Suckling

    • "Poggio Rosso" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

“Poggio Rosso” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Poggio Rosso Gran Selezione from the top year 2016 is a paragon of intensity and a fullness of fruit that layers beautifully. Very beautiful interpretation of the Sangiovese grape with a dense core and lots of padding around it. Rich ruby garnet, very fine texture and structure on the palate that only fully reveals itself with the necessary time in the glass. It is tense and powerful in its youthful years, the acidity and also the well-built tannin are programmed to develop, for only in a few years will it fully reveal its full elegance and greatness. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby red. In the nose of ripe forest fruits underlined by delicate leather spice. On the palate gripping with wide-meshed tannin, delicate dryness, but has plenty of salt, seems mineral, can and should still mature." Falstaff

"From a parcel originally planted in the 1970s with selected Sangiovese clones. Appropriately developing in its aroma profile, this doles out tobacco, bay leaf, leather, dried thyme and a suggestion of chestnut. The palate is bright with sour cherry, tart redcurrant, and a kick of tangy acidity. The tannins are compact and dense - still quite chewy, this could do with another year or so in the cellar." Decanter

"This bright red features cherry, raspberry, floral and spice aromas and flavors allied to a silky texture. Iron, sanguine and toasty accents add complexity. Firm and built to age, with a terrific finish." Wine Spectator

"The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Poggio Rosso is a powerful, bold wine that captures all the natural intensity of Castelnuovo Berardenga. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, espresso, lavender and French oak are all amped up. Exuberant and generous in the glass, with superb richness, the 2016 has so much to offer. The style is extroverted - there is no doubting that - but all the elements are impeccably balanced." Vinous

"The San Felice 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Poggio Rosso shows a saturated appearance with dark garnet and ruby colors. Following that beautiful appearance in the glass, the wine opens to cassis, wild cherry, spice and toasted wood. The oak element is an important component of the mouthfeel that shows solid, mid-weight heft and long, polished tannins that would be a nice accompaniment to a filet mignon." Robert Parker

"A beautiful, soft-textured Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, showing currant, berry and black-cherry aromas with some floral and lavender undertones. It's full-bodied, yet balanced and refined. Super quality." James Suckling

“Casalferro” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Pure variety Merlot, which offers a very spicy nose, multi-layered red fruit aromas, a powerful and dense body. Big, firm, smooth and with potential for quite a few years. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Shows notes of tobacco and liquorice on the nose, lots of blackberry. Lots of juicy fruit on the palate, fine-meshed tannin, plenty of crisp acidity." Falstaff

"Full and juicy with lots of ripe fruit and spices. Firm and silky tannins. A little tight now but shows potential." James Suckling

"The Barone Ricasoli 2016 Casalferro puts a purely Tuscan fingerprint on the Merlot grape. From a classic vintage that was especially favorable for an early-ripening variety such as this, the wine is beautifully tonic and tightly wound initially, although it cedes and expands quite elegantly onto the palate. The bouquet opens gracefully to dark cherry, blackberry, spice, leather and tar. These elements are balanced and weighed against each other with just the right intensity." Robert Parker

“Marchese Antinori” Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2018 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Since the 2011 vintage, the Riserva Marchese Antinori has been produced one hundred percent from grapes from Tenuta Tignanello. This reduced the production volume and set in motion a further leap in quality. Sparkling ruby, dark wild cherries, graphite, violets and spices in the bouquet. Flowing and round on the palate, very juicy, the French oak adds volume and richness. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark ruby. After rich cherries, precious woods and black pepper in the nose, reminiscent of blackberry jelly in the finish, some rose petal, fine-smelling. Presents itself balanced and with a nice fan on the palate, crisp acidity supports the clear fruit, with a salty core, punchy finish." Falstaff

"This is very lively and energetic with fine tannins and a long, focused finish. Aromatic and bright with berries, plums and flowers. Medium body. with savory acidity and a long finish." James Suckling

"This wine is made exclusively with fruit from the gorgeous Tenuta Tignanello in San Casciano Val di Pesa (home to its namesake wine Tignanello, and Solaia) and sees mostly Sangiovese blended with a smaller part Cabernet Sauvignon and other complementary grapes. The Marchesi Antinori 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori vaunts a smooth and silky personality with ample berry definition and brightness. The previous 2017 vintage revealed more black and purple fruits because of the scorching hot and dry summer that year, but this wine from the cooler 2018 growing season focuses on red raspberry and cherry instead. That fruit is framed by light spice (from Hungarian and French oak) and licorice." Robert Parker

    • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

The Brunello di Montalcino 2016 is a stunning creation from an iconic vintage. It was the ideal year for Sangiovese to show its complete and true magic. You can feel the deep inner power and integrity of the fruit, yet the wine opens gently on the nose with elegance and grace. The current release shows amazing complexity with a bouquet that opens gently and subtly to reveal dark cherries, spices, balsamic herb and dried violets. On the palate, the impressions are reflected in an ideally precise and well-proportioned way, accompanied by an inner softness and finesse that completely delighted us. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, sparkling ruby-garnet. Impressive and present nose, full of ripe plums, cherries and also blackberries, in the background some leather and liquorice. Juicy and firm on the palate, opens with grippy, gripping tannin, profound, has firm pressure on the final." Falstaff

"Camphor, new leather, underbrush and blue-flower aromas mingle together in the glass along with a whiff of toasted nut. On the firmly structured palate, assertive, close-grained tannins and an acidic backbone accompany dried cherry, licorice and tobacco." Wine Enthusiast

"A red with blackberry, cherry, some walnut and chocolate, as well as mahogany. Tea, too. It's full-bodied and firm-tannined with beautiful length and depth. Linear and very fine." James Suckling

"Among Montalcino's largest estates, Il Poggione continues to impress in 2016 under father and son winemaking duo, Fabrizio and Alessandro Bindocci. The wine wears its warm, southwestern origins assuredly on its sleeve, exhibiting dark bramble fruit intertwined with baked thyme and rosemary, fragrant wet earth and leather. It is weighty but not weighed down, and sports the grip and zip of the vintage, the lingering finish full of tobacco and spice." Decanter

"The Il Poggione 2016 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a medium dark appearance with pretty Sangiovese shine and a little ruby sparkle. This vintage shows a slightly untamed or wild side with a dense and heavier fruit profile. The focus here is on blackberry, dried cherry, tobacco and even a touch of smoky tobacco or horse saddle. The wine shows the firm grip and tannic backbone that is a common trait in this vintage, especially with the vineyards on this southern, sunlit side of the appellation. I also get a considerable flash of acidity on the close, almost too much, that certainly needs a few more years to soften. You really need to wait with this one." Robert Parker

"This Brunello leads with black cherry, black currant and violet aromas, augmented by flavors of iron, tobacco and spice. Dusty tannins emerge on the lingering finish, while the sweet fruit persists. Should be compelling in a decade." Wine Spectator

"I'm not sure how Il Poggione manages to remain one of the largest producers of Brunello, maintaining such a high level of quality and turning out some of the best wines of the vintage year after year - but they do. The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is yet another stunning example. Depths of mineral-encased black cherries, sage, allspice, licorice, tobacco and crushed violets lift up from the glass. It's seamlessly silky, even as the palate is peppered with tart red and black berries, nervous acids and savory exotic spices. This shows the density and weight of the vintage in a youthfully monolithic stance, yet with all the necessary components to maintain perfect balance. The 2016 Il Poggione seems to fold in upon itself through the finish, which is dark, mysterious and structured, with only hints of black tea and licorice to tempt the imagination. It's a classic in the making." Vinous

Chianti Classico “Vigna San Marcellino” Gran Selezione DOCG 2016 (BIO) · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Sparkling ruby red. Complex and enveloping bouquet of rich cherry, black forest berries, violets and tobacco. The single-vineyard Chianti Classico San Marcellino is excellently structured, interwoven with lively, elegant tannins, of exemplary harmony and a savoury, slightly salty finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Powerful ruby with fine violet shimmer. Somewhat cloudy nose of black truffle, elderberry, some red beet. Shows a lot of power on the palate, dense, hearty tannin, but also seems quite edgy." Falstaff

"Lustrous, youthful mid crimson. A lifted embracing nose of sweet oak and intense cherry fruit. Bags of tangy juicy cherry fruit laced with sweet oak. An absolute super-charmer with finely ground tannins and a vibrant finish." Jancis Robinson

"Vigna San Marcellino is both youthfully fresh and maturely complex. It includes a healthy dose of the deeply coloured Pugnitello grape, and both this and the Sangiovese saw long post-fermentation macerations of over 30 days in 2016. Liquorice, tarragon and broom interlace with exuberant plum and understated toasted nuances that are seductive. Laden with black cherry and rich, velvety tannins, the palate is creamy in texture, while underlying chalkiness and saline minerality lend energy, leading to a sappy, refreshing finish." Decanter

    • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

A picture-book Brunello from a picture-book vintage: Wonderfully cherry-accented bouquet with hints of violet blossoms, clove, cigar box and a pleasant spicy sweetness. Dense and expressive on the palate, it opens vibrantly and multilayered and then reveals a wonderful load of black cherry, exotic spices and a fine salty vein. The perfectly balanced tannin always provides the necessary balance and gives it a racy, very long finish with its exceedingly refined flavour components. SUPERIORE.DE

"A wild and unbridled version, as much about the woodsy pine, wild herb and iron flavors as the brooding black cherry and blueberry fruit. Long and resonant, with muscular tannins and lively acidity lending support." Wine Spectator

"The Castiglion del Bosco 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a fruit-forward expression with soft cherry, blackberry, tilled earth and a touch of sweet spice. This wine is made in an especially accessible style that prizes ripe fruit and oak aging (in both barrique and botte). Fruit comes from a 52-hectare vineyard with galestro schist and clay. The tannins are more evident here compared to the 2015 vintage; however, this wine is almost ready to go with beef tagliata topped with porcini mushrooms." Robert Parker

"The 2016 Castiglion del Bosco Brunello di Montalcino really stands out with its vivid display of crushed raspberries, lavender and clove. Further depths are found with each swirl, adding mentholated herbs and flowery undergrowth. It's dense and dark-fruited, enveloping the palate with notes of black cherry, plum, exotic savory spice and minerals. This is soothing and pliant in spite of the 2016's youthful state, balancing brisk acids and fine tannins to create a push and pull of structural tension. The symmetry here is spellbinding, and everything is in the right place for a long and fruitful evolution over the next ten to fifteen years." Vinous

"The complexity and beauty to this is really something with cherry, walnut, tobacco and cigar-box character. Sweet cherries. It's full-bodied and deep with super intensity and power. Layered and beautiful. Really refined tannins. Some whole-berry fermentation gives this added character. Goes on for minutes." James Suckling

    • "Roncicone" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

“Roncicone” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

As a result of extensive soil research, Francesco Ricasoli was able to identify three micro-layers that will be vinified separately from the 2015 vintage onwards. As a result, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione range now includes the famous Castello di Brolio as well as three Cru vineyards (Colledilà, Roncicone and Ceniprimo), all of which are 100% stocked with Sangiovese. They differ in structure and taste in close correspondence with their terroir and impressively demonstrate the complexity of the Chanti Classico region.

The new Cru Roncicone comes from soils with maritime deposits. It is a 10.1 hectare plot that was planted between 1998 and 2000 with a density of 6,000 plants per hectare. The soils are rich in marine fossils with sand at the top and thicker clay under the topsoil. Our impression of this wine is that it is most immediately and softly structured.

Roncicone has a deep dark, fruity smoky bouquet. On the palate dark violet fruits, paired with notes of forest soil, tobacco and a nice spice. The volume is full and deep, the tannins very accessible even at a young age and the finish is flanked by a well-structured acid structure, which will also provide a very good aging potential. SUPERIORE.DE

"It comes from a single vineyard at 320 metres above sea level, with a wonderful aroma of wild berries and herbs; the start is fresh and juicy, the acidity reviving and in perfect harmony with the tannins, full of elegance in the style of a Burgundy until the end." Vinum

"Here is a new exciting wine from Francesco Ricasoli that represents the hands-on results of a long zoning and research project underway at this estate to better understand the potential of each single vineyard within the greater Castello di Brolio property. The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio Roncicone is a soft and velvety expression with a long bouquet of dark and purple fruit, tilled earth, spice and tobacco. The wine offers volume, grit and a more accessible or sweet tannin. This is a great steak wine made from 100% Sangiovese that was aged in 500-liter tonneaux. Some 6,000 bottles were made. This vineyard site is rich in marine fossils." Robert Parker

"I love the purity of fruit to this Gran Selezione that shows hibiscus, orange peel, violets, lavender, early grey tea, cloves, tobacco and wet earth. Elegant and flowing with lithe yet structured tannins, intensely refreshing acidity and a long, complex finish. Superb sangiovese." James Suckling

    • "La Gioia" Toscana Rosso IGT 2015
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

“La Gioia” Toscana Rosso IGT 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

The genuine expression of Sangiovese, terroir and the typical Riecine style, which is based above all on elegance. Deep colour, complex fragrance and corresponding persistence in taste. An impressive wine with the finesse of a great Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling ruby garnet. Very appealing and accessible nose, full of ripe raspberries, some strawberries and pickled peaches. Round and smooth at the base and in the course, lots of fruit, then shows a pithy, present tannin at the back, crunchy." Falstaff

"Juicy and succulent red and black fruit nose. The oak is quite well integrated on the palate and the tannins are fine with some juicy acidity underneath. Long, earthy finish." Decanter

"The 2014 vintage of this wine is all gone, so I am reviewing the 2015 La Gioia instead. This is a pure expression of Sangiovese with fruit sourced from the estate's best vineyard sites (that are not already tagged to make Chianti Classico). This is a full and generous expression of the grape that maintains its crisp, mid-weight mouthfeel. Tones of cherry, wild berry, violets and spice make for an elegant and very pure bouquet. Crisp acidity appears on the close." Robert Parker

"The plum and light, floral and lavender aromas are very seductive. They follow through to a full-bodied palate that’s very tight and refined, giving balance and energy to the wine. Very long and intense." James Suckling

“La Gioia” Toscana Rosso IGT 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Genuine expression of Sangiovese, terroir and the typical Riecine style, which is based above all on elegance. Deep, sparkling colour, complex, animating scent of small red berries and corresponding persistence in taste. An impressive wine with the finesse of a great Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby with a fine garnet shimmer. Appealing nose with notes of pomegranate, cherry and spicy thyme. Round and polished at the base, shows very well worked out fruit, present and at the same time tender, then opens up with lots of handy tannin." Falstaff

"A pure expression of Sangiovese, the 2016 La Gioia is a beauty. Off the bat, the wine shows a specific mineral note that reminds me of black stone or dusty granite. Beyond that, you get a thick and dense layer of black fruit and plum. The wine is never heavy or flat, instead it shows a lot of energy and freshness with a point of spiciness on the close. That energy is typical of Gaiole in Chianti. This is a medium-to-full bodied Sangiovese with all its various moving parts in harmony, ready for a Tuscan bean and tomato stew with fresh bread and healthy wedges of pecorino." Robert Parker

"This is a powerful red with beautiful ripe tannins and freshness. Full and linear. Opens in the mouth. A pure sangiovese. Yeah!" James Suckling

    • "Guidalberto" Toscana IGT 2019
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

“Guidalberto” Toscana IGT 2019 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Since Guidalberto has been vinified from its own grapes, most of which also grow in the Sassicaia DOC monopoly position, San Guido's "second wine" has almost surpassed itself. Spicy, earthy bouquet with hints of tobacco, clove and lavender, dense and juicy on the palate with fresh red and black berry fruit. The tannins are well-dosed and the finish is complex with a majestic elegance that will become even more refined with years of bottle ageing. SUPERIORE.DE

"Mid ruby with a touch of sediment - a sample blend, rather than a finished wine, as with the last two release presentations. Quite reticent on the nose, just giving hints of what it's got - a flash of creamy vanilla, a scent of ripe, plummy, black fruit and some toasted tobacco. Full bodied, with mouth-coating but fine-grained tannins. Plump and velvety - Merlot making its presence felt here. Pretty good length too. This is embryonic and a little closed, but I think has plenty to give - an attractive Guidalberto that will reward cellaring." Jancis Robinson

"This enticing red offers alluring aromas of fragrant purple flowers, dark-skinned berries and crushed mint. The elegantly structured palate doles out succulent blackberry, orange zest, licorice and saline notes set against taut, refined tannins. It's nicely balanced by fresh acidity." Wine Enthusiast

    • Brunello di Montalcino "La Casa" DOCG 2015
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino “La Casa” DOCG 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Brunello La Casa 2015 is to rave about and possibly the best in the history of the house: bright, intense ruby garnet. Complex aromas of sweet red fruits melt into rose petals, liquorice, spices and mint. Firm and polished on the palate, floral notes provide liveliness, fine tannins and balanced acidity give structure and stability, beautifully articulated and juicy on the finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Intense fine-spicy flower with fresh berry aromas, also floral components; solid texture, the tannin-acid framework in balance, polished finish on notes of stone fruit, tobacco and eucalyptus." Vinum

"Shiny ruby with garnet rim. Very clear and appealing nose, sweet cherries and raspberries, light liquorice notes in the background. A lot of juicy cherry fruit on the palate, then opens up with fine-meshed, polished tannin, spans a wide arc, long finish with lots of juicy fruit." Falstaff

"With an enviable position on the Montosoli hill, Caparzo's La Casa vineyard has been vinified separately since 1977 and is among the first single-vineyard bottlings in Montalcino. Like the regular Brunello, La Casa possesses surprising underling acidity which gives brightness and focus to the wine; the northern exposition of the plot certainly played a factor in this. Fresh herbs and pomegranate offset sunbaked earth and incense nuances. The palate is quite substantial and concentrated, with tactile tannins, though it stays fresh and fluent." Decanter

"Spicy cherry, raspberry and plum flavors are shaded by tobacco and earth notes in this savory red. Elegant and solidly built, with refined tannins upholding the lingering finish. Shows good sweetness courtesy of the ripe fruit." Wine Spectator

"Good full ruby. Brooding aromas of cassis, menthol, chocolate and minerals. Dense and juicy but slightly hard at present, with a floral nuance and nicely integrated acidity lending precision to the red fruit and violet flavors. The slightly tough tannins and the dumbed down fruit leave an impression of medicinal austerity on the long mouthcoating finish. Needs time." Vinous

"Caparzo's 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna La Casa opens to a very fine and precise bouquet that is carefully assembled with crisp berry notes, smoke, tar, licorice and toasted almond. The wine remains very tight and crisp overall, but it does cede to more volume and puts on more weight as it opens in the glass. There is a pretty note of crushed stone or granite on the close. The La Casa vineyard site is characterized by clay soils broken up with shards of Galestro schist that adds to the cool and fresh profile of the wine. This lovely single-vineyard Brunello is almost ready to drink (wait a few more years), but it should also withstand the next 10 years of cellar aging should you decide to put your bottle aside." Robert Parker

"Beautiful combination here of balanced orange and lemon rind and riper glazed cherries, terracotta and scorched earth. Mushroom too. Tightly wound and elegant with a persistent core of mineral acidity and finely wrapped-up tannins." James Suckling

“Sergio Zingarelli” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2014 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Bright red with ruby reflections. Blueberry and cherry, hints of plums, leather and spicy notes. In the taste nuances of hazelnut, fleshy-full notes. Mineral and persistent in the finish. A great wine! SUPERIORE.DE

"Intense, bright ruby red with a shiny core. Fine nose of very ripe cherries, dried rose petals and delicate violets. A very smooth palate, enveloped in velvety tannins and a juicy draft, spans a wide arch and slowly builds up in many layers, remarkable elegance, great finish". Falstaff

"This red shows red plums, raspberries and hints of light cedar. Medium to full body, soft and juicy tannins and a nice finish." James Suckling

"The team at Rocca delle Macìe hits an impressive stride with the 2014 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Sergio Zingarelli. This was not an easy growing season, but a commitment has evidently been taken here to severely limit fruit selection to only the best clusters. The wine opens to dark fruit tones of dried cherry and blackberry with spice, leather and tar. You also get that unique aroma of crushed stones that is so specific to Chianti Classico." Robert Parker

"This shows richness and breadth, featuring notes of plum, coffee, iron and leather, punctuated by cherry hints and tangy acidity. Finishes firm and dense, with a fresh feel." Wine Spectator
