Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2017 (BIO) · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

This garnet-red sparkling Vino Nobile inspires us fragrantly after dried plum and a breath of cinnamon and clove. On the palate, much present fruit, fine, sweet melting in the long finish. An authentic and pleasantly elegant organic wine from the heart of the Montepulciano region. SUPERIORE.DE

"The organic 2017 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano offers a delicate embroidery of red fruit, pressed violet and potting soil. There are subtle highlights of dried orange peel and iron ore as well. This pretty wine prizes fruit purity and simplicity. It offers a naked interpretation of this noble appellation without distractions or too many bells or whistles. The wine is light and streamlined on the palate, but there is enough tannic power to carry it over a meal of pici pasta and rabbit ragù." Robert Parker

"Salcheto checks a lot of boxes. The winery is powered by renewable energy, water waste is 100% recycled, there are no added sulphites during vinification and the entire production is certified organic and packaged in light weight bottles. Above all, the Nobile tastes delicious. It is clean and immediately appealing offering complex cedar, earth, tea and balsamic nuances atop forest fruit. Full-bodied and full of character, it is rich yet fresh and seductively textured with polished tannins. A great success for this challenging vintage." Decanter

“Perbacco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2017 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Perbacco shows in the fresh bouquet first lightly leafy notes, then a lot of cherry. On the palate beautifully round, lots of ripe fruit, cherries and red berries, underlaid with fine-grained tannin, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"A wine with a diehard fan club, the Vietti 2017 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco drinks like a young Barolo but costs a fraction of the price. I really need to say little more because that accurately sums up the vast appeal of this classic and versatile Nebbiolo. The bouquet is expressive and fresh with wild berries, blue flowers, spice and tobacco. Besides a bit more color concentration that you might notice in the wine's appearance, Perbacco magically shows no sign of the hot vintage." Robert Parker

Chianti Classico DOCG 2017 (BIO) · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

With the 2017 vintage, Querciabella presents a riper, more opulent Chianti Classico than in previous years. Wonderful scent of sweet raspberries, notes of tobacco and violets. Enormous density, compact construction, robust tannins, youthful fresh temperament, paired with a certain finesse. Ends long with notes of juicy red berries. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright ruby. Beautiful, open-hearted nose, of ripe cherries and raspberries, rich fruit bouquet, delicate spice, appealing. On the palate of young cranberries, fruity course, juicy and clear, stretches very fine over the tongue to the final." Falstaff

"Youthful ruby. Classy nose of sweet red fruit, oak and stones and hints of mint. Elegant, juicy and almost a little linear. A wine that contradicts the torrid vintage." Jancis Robinson

"Gorgeous freshness here both on the nose and palate. Aromas of pepper, sage blossom, and lavender lead to a mouthful of red currants. Full-bodied but balanced in its proportioned, this is light on its feet with plenty of vitality." Decanter

"This is a little jammy with lots of ripe fruit and both blueberry and chocolate character. Rich and flavorful, but still fresh and energetic. Shows the warmth of the vintage. From biodynamically grown grapes." James Suckling

"The 2017 Chianti Classico is bright, floral and beautifully lifted, with lovely red berry and rose petal character. Pliant and supple, with terrific balance, the Querciabella 2017 is one of the more refined, restrained Chianti Classicos readers will come across in this vintage, with Radda very much driving the personality of the wine in its aromatic and red fruit profile. The 2017 finishes with terrific energy and nuance." Vinous

“Crognolo” Rosso Toscana IGT 2017 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Dark fruits form the backbone of its fragrance body, to which a moderately dosed floral and balsamic perfume gives additional charm and freshness. Coherent is the dense taste, which relaxes its spiciness and reveals a fine tannin grid. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich garnet. Elegant, though slightly reserved nose, rich cherry, blood orange, smoke, black currant. On the palate with fresh tannin, nice juiciness, salty, clear fruit, in the aftertaste with pressure and delicate drying." Falstaff

"The 2017 Crognolo is laced with crushed red berry, spice, orange peel and mint flavors. In this vintage, Crognolo is light in body and structure. I would prefer to drink it on the young side." Vinous

Ripe and intense the bouquet of Poggio Valente from the single vineyard of the same name, with its very full-bodied, sweet tannins. Combines freshness and depth in a successful way and ends in a very elegant final. SUPERIORE.DE

"Extremely floral and perfumed with blueberry, chocolate and violet aromas. Full body. Very silky and refined texture with a gorgeous berry and cherry aftertaste. Finely textured." James Suckling

"The 2016 Poggio Valente is a total knockout. Ample and resonant, with tremendous richness, the 2016 is fabulous from the very first taste. A whole rush of Sangiovese aromas and flavors build as this potent, full-bodied, pure Sangiovese shows off its considerable power. Hints of tobacco, cedar and mint add the closing shades of dimension. The 2016 was aged in 500-600L. French and Slovakian oak, with a touch of Hungarian and Austrian wood for greater complexity." Vinous

"The 2016 Poggio Valente is precise and direct, the result of a lot of enological brain power and Coastal Tuscany's answer to Brunello Montalcino. It's an excellent expression of Sangiovese, with pretty floral and fruity notes, earthy tones and an unforgettable cameo appearance of blossoming rose. Give the wine ample time to open in the glass." • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Caparzo is one of two estates in Montalcino (the other is called Altesino, by the way) owned by the utterly charming Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini. Caparzo's 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a very classic interpretation that delivers the perfect stuff without distracting frills. The wine opens with aromas of red and purple fruit, with dried herbs, potting soil, cedar and light spice showing in the background. The fruit comes from a site with heavier clay soils, you get a good sense of that added density and richness here. The 2016 vintage, which was simply perfect in terms of climate, has everything you look for in an exemplary and generous Brunello. This is pure pleasure, the style of the wines simply makes you want more ... SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino shows mineral-laced black cherries with earth tones and hints of tanned leather. It’s soft in texture with a polished display of ripe berries and savory spice, as zesty acids create a juicy expression while slow-mounting tannins collect upon the senses. This turns dry and structured toward the finale, yet with the balance for a long and steady evolution in the cellar. This is really very nice." Vinous

"Plum, ripe-berry and floral aromas with hints of sandalwood and fresh mushrooms. It’s full-bodied with firm, ripe tannins and a fresh, crushed-stone finish. A little timid now." James Suckling

Dark ruby red, in the Bouquet aromas of ripe, red fruits and a fine wood spice. Elegant, soft, complex and fresh, the taste is exuberant and very flattering. A masterpiece from the Basilicata! SUPERIORE.DE

"Here's another great vintage from Elena Fucci, the ascending star of a rising wine region in the deep south of Italy. The 2015 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo shows a dark garnet color and robust appearance. Very characteristic of this extreme territory, this is a dark and penetrating wine with etched mineral notes behind blackberry, plum and savory spice. This vintage presents an even darker quality of fruit. In the mouth, you get iron, blood and dark mineral nuances that are absolutely typical of these darkened volcanic soils." Robert Parker

"Fresh and well-meshed, this is a medium- to full-bodied red, with creamy tannins and a rich note of smoke-tinged mineral underscoring the lovely range of ripe black cherry, dried thyme and fig cake flavors and hints of ground cumin and white pepper. This is round and finely balanced, with a long, lingering finish that echoes the spice and mineral detail." Wine Spectator

"Elena Fucci crafts one single wine. The piercing and focused Titolo exudes incense, violet, dark earth and black cherry. Volcanic soil translates with vibrant energy. Muscular rather than plump and built to last." Decanter

“Castello di Brolio” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Castello di Brolio - a Super-Chianti Classico of the highest quality Gran Selezione and next to the Colledilà the second flagship of Barone Ricasoli. It comes from the vineyard of the same name, which has been the summer residence of the Ricasoli family since 1141. Powerful ruby, in the fragrance cherries, plums, some tobacco. On the palate it has a mature fruity note, racy, structured, long and full of finesse. SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant, rich ruby with a slight garnet shimmer. Very open and accessible nose, smells seductively of ripe cherries, some cloves and blueberries. Round and smooth in the base and course, a very soft and round Chianti, fine-meshed tannin, a lot of sweet enamel." Falstaff

"Floral, cherry and bell pepper nose and taste, fine tannins, then a very long finish and gentle oaky aftertaste." Decanter

"Sweet, ripe cherry and raspberry flavors define this Chianti Classico from start to finish, augmented by almond, iron and tar accents, with a hefty dose of grainy tannins. All the elements come together on the juicy aftertaste." Wine Spectator

"The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio takes a few minutes to open and settle in the glass. The bouquet here is redolent of pressed cherry and dried blackberry with underbrush, dark spice, forest floor and even a touch of wild porcino mushroom. The mouthfeel is smooth and loosely textured, which gives the wine an accessible and immediate personality. These vineyard sites in Gaiole in Chianti are characterized by crushed alberese rock soils. These unique growing conditions always add to the focus and the sharpness of the aromas." Robert Parker

Dark ruby red, in the Bouquet aromas of ripe, red fruits and a fine wood spice. Elegant, soft, complex and fresh, the taste is exuberant and very flattering. A masterpiece from the Basilicata! SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2013 Aglianico del Vulture Titolo offers a rich and savory interpretation. The wine reveals earthy notes of freshly tilled earth and button mushroom and it also shows autumnal layers of crushed leaf and black currant. Together, these various elements come together in smooth harmony. The fruit element at the back is a good guarantee of the wine's future aging potential. The finish offers solid tannins and earthy grittiness." Robert Parker

"Bright ruby. Piercing aromas of sour red cherry, black currant, violet and lavender. Then dense, sweet and complex, offering very pure mineral, deep plum and smoky berry flavors that have an almost metallic, steely quality. A wine of remarkable balance and finesse, but also powerful and concentrated. Absolutely gorgeous wine confirming the 2013 vintage to be a great one for Aglianico del Vulture." • Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015
Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2015 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Rose blossoms, mint, cinnamon, dark sweet cherries and smoke rise from the glass in a translucent, wiry Brunello that builds on energy, power and opulence. The 2015 edition is particularly precise and nuanced. Length and fruit are in the foreground here, and together with a clearly defined tannin structure, the team around Leopoldo Franceschi has created a real masterpiece here, which will only really reveal itself in the coming years. As in every good vintage, it is one of our favourites, and its outstanding value is also great fun! SUPERIORE.DE

"Tints variously of flowers, berries and leather; in the mouth juicy fresh, elegant structure, with much melt and good evolution to fresh fruit aromas. Pleases with its finesse." Vinum

"Firm, almost astringent, deep and complex, slightly cedar and tobacco scent of ripe red and a little black berries with a little tar, coffee and cocoa. Very firm, juicy, ripe fruit with a certain acid bite and present, youthful, yet fine and ripe tannins, delicately roasted and hinted bacon on the palate, spicy and dried vegetable to tobacco notes, again a hint of tar, persistent on the palate, has substance and depth, salty minerality, cedar notes, multi-layered, very good, extremely firm, concentrated finish with tart juice, salt and spice. Great." Wein-Plus

"Bright, intense ruby grenade. Reveals itself with a seductive nose of blackberry, cherry and plum, with a hint of leather and cloves. Shows good tension on the palate, handy tannin in many layers, lots of juicy fruit, long finish." Falstaff

"Tasted blind. Lustrous mid ruby. Lots of concentrated, sweet fruit on the nose. Fantastic chewy tannins and energetic, juicy fruit deliver tactile fireworks on the palate." Jancis Robinson

"In 2015, the Brunello was crafted only from their highest vineyards, up to 400 metres. True to its balmy southern origins, it demonstrates immense concentration and ripeness, yet it remains balanced in its considerable proportions. Luxuriously textured fruit is firmly girdled by powerful, chewy tannins and there is no sacrifice of flavour either - iodine, earth, leather, sweet tobacco and dried thyme are woven throughout. The sapid finish lingers leisurely." Decanter

"Wild herb and Mediterranean (i)macchia(n) notes mark this expressive red. Though well-endowed with tannins, this is on the sleek side, showing vibrant acidity. Cherry, strawberry, floral and tobacco flavors join the party as this cruises to a long finish. Best from 2023 through 2042." Wine Spectator

"So many sour cherries rise up from the glass, along with orange rind and lemon peel. The full-bodied palate has a very serious and concentrated core of florals and fruit, and the tannins have an iron-fisted, strapping build. Long, chewy and structured. One of the best in years from here. Drink from 2025." James Suckling

"The Il Poggione 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows a darker and more concentrated appearance than many of its peers. The wine is beautifully abundant and fragrant in the most exuberant and expressive manner. You will recognize aromas of moist soil, tobacco and smoke. Candied cherry hovers over the entire bouquet. Fruit is sourced from older vines (all over 25 years old). Il Poggione occupies a special spot within the Montalcino appellation, and the area always produces slightly more concentrated and powerful wines. I find that to be particularly true in this gorgeous 2015 vintage. I am also very attracted to that almost dusty note of crushed mineral that rides long on the full-bodied finish. Il Poggione's Brunello is also distinguished by firm, youthful tannin that need a few more years to unwind." Robert Parker

"Il Poggione 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers up a dark, earthy, almost animal-like expression, showing black soil and undergrowth, giving way to crushed black cherry, dusty spice, and dried florals which lift the experience. On the palate, soft, fleshy textures usher in fresh cherry and strawberry, as brisk acids add energy, with savory herbs and minerals saturating, as the 2015 Il Poggione’s fruit nearly masks its structural core. The finish is long yet fresh, with classic, fine tannins, dried red fruits and pretty inner floral tones lingering throughout this perfectly balanced expression. The 2015 s pure class and built for the cellar." Vinous
