• "Brolio Bettino" Chianti Classico DOCG 2016

“Brolio Bettino” Chianti Classico DOCG 2016

This small edition red wine, now vinified in the 3rd vintage, is dedicated to Bettino Ricasoli, who wrote down the grape variety mixture of today's Chianti as early as 1872. But he was much more than that: two times Prime Minister of the united Italy (1861 and 1866), founder of the daily newspaper "La Nazione", agricultural researcher and "father" of the first Chianti product specification. The creation of this wine interprets his untiring will to create an independent Chianti style that is both traditional and contemporary to this day.

The unfiltered bottled Chianti Classico Brolio Bettino captivates with an intense ruby red. The intense and inviting scent of dark fruits is lined with noble balsamic notes. Flawless taste with well proportioned acidity and perfectly integrated tannin, powerful and long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Sparkling ruby red with a bright edge. In the nose fresh cherries and cranberries. Crunchy palate with balanced fruit-acid play, pithy in the middle with fine melting, very harmonious in the attack and course, high drinking fun! Falstaff

"This is a terrific expression of Sangiovese with bright fruit, dense textural fiber and balanced acidity. The 2016 Chianti Classico Brolio Bettino plays all of its cards with an expert hand. It boasts impeccable balance, especially considering the relationship between its core of dark black fruit and the elegance and power of its long-lasting finish. Crushed stone notes appear as well." • "Perlato del Bosco" Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

“Perlato del Bosco” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

Fragrant with aromas of lilac and broom, then cherry and blackberry. On the palate juicy and long with elegant, polished tannins and a pleasant acid reader. SUPERIORE.DE

"In the microclimate of Suvereto, Tuscany, the 2016 vintage was warmer than 2015. Fruit for the 2016 Perlato del Bosco (100% Sangiovese) was harvested in mid-September. In fact, the clone used here is designed to produce lower yields as a way of countering the hot weather in this zone. Larger oak barrels were employed in order to produce a lighter toasting effect. The results are broad in scope, with floral and peppery aromas on the nose." Robert Parker

"The 2016 Perlato del Bosco, 100% Sangiovese, is plump, juicy and forward, all qualities that are typical of Sangioveses from the southern part of Maremma, and the Suvereto in particular. Varietal red Sangiovese fruit is nicely amped up in this generous, inviting wine. A touch of new oak frames the finish nicely." Antonio Galloni

"This is so fresh and bright with cherries, plums and hints of chocolate and hazelnuts. Medium body, fine tannins and a delicious finish. Super subtle and long. Polished. Savory. Pure sangiovese." James Suckling

    • "Bòggina C" Sangiovese Val d'Arno di Sopra DOC 2016 (BIO)

“Bòggina C” Sangiovese Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2016 (BIO)

The C in the name of the Boggina stands for the "Classico" which was built in the large wood and tonneau for about 18 months: In the bouquet the whole fullness of Sangiovese - sour cherry, plum, diverse floral notes and spices. The delicate tannins lend elegance to the palate, yet it is the archetype of a tight and wonderfully precise Sangiovese with impressive depth. SUPERIORE.DE

"This vibrant, balanced red is rich, with plum, cherry, iron and tobacco notes. Firms up nicely, suggesting a decade or more of development ahead, ending with a tangy aftertaste of fruit and mineral." Wine Spectator

"The 2016 Bòggina C, 100% Sangiovese vinified in cement and aged in oak, is a total knock-out. Readers will find a wine endowed with fabulous richness and depth. Black cherry, plum, lavender, spice and espresso all flesh out in a generous, deeply expressive wine that is ample and nuanced at the same time." Antonio Galloni

"The 2016 Val d'Arno di Sopra Bòggina C is a pure expression of Sangiovese from vines planted in 1952. Give the wine a little time to open in the glass; once it does, it offers a beautiful display of forest fruit, spice, leather and earthy tones. Unlike the Bòggina A that is aged in amphorae, the Bòggina C is fermented in concrete vats using ambient yeasts. It sees extended maceration times and is aged in French 40-hectoliter casks and tonneaux. Some 11,000 bottles were made. This single-vineyard expression of Sangiovese reveals impeccable balance and elegance." Robert Parker

"This is so focused and precise with fantastic depth and beauty. A pure definition of sangiovese. Full-bodied, tight and refined. Yet, full of strength and length. Succulent, too. A single-vineyard wine with soul." James Suckling

    • Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva DOC 2011

Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva DOC 2011

Deep dark yellow. In the nose rich, almost opulent impressions of candied apricots, orange zest and traces of fine yellow flowers. The taste is complex of candied fruits with a wonderfully polished sweetness and a long, persistent finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2011 Vin Santo di Carmignano Riserva (packaged in a 375-millilter bottle) is a blend of 90% Trebbiano and 10% San Colombano, another name for the white grape Verdea. This is a beautiful and seemingly indestructible dessert wine that offers intense tones of dried apricot, honey and toasted nut. The grapes are air-dried for up to six months, and the wine ages in traditional 100-liter oak barrels called caratelli for up to six years. Those pretty nutty flavors you get on the finish come directly from the aging process." Robert Parker

"This exquisite wine is an experience with an alluring orange caramel, brown sugar and cinnamon nose. On the palate, it is is simultaneously elegant, opulent and luscious, with an oily texture and plenty of burnt caramel and rich nutty flavours gushing through the very long and sweet finish. If imbibed outside the home, a designated driver is mandatory. Stunning Vin Santo!" Decanter

    • "Costa Grande" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2015

“Costa Grande” Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2015

A little of everything, but never too much of a good thing. One of the most complex Nobiles we've ever tasted. Delicate red fruits with a pinch of sweetness and flower aroma, underlaid with tobacco. Clear cherry aroma on the palate, in addition a wonderful spice with again this subtle sweetness in the background. A finely tuned and harmonious finale makes you want the next glass. Very well done! SUPERIORE.DE

"Bouquet of stone fruit, herbs and spices, also tobacco, balanced and still youthful texture, acidity and tannin in balance, elegant finish. Excellent with cooked beef." Vinum

"Intense, rich ruby red. Restrained nose, only hesitantly reveals some smoke and red berries. Well-balanced and juicy on the palate, harmonious and well-balanced in the attack and course, dark fruit, tightly woven tannin gives decent pressure in the finale." Falstaff

"A classic Vino Nobile di Montepulciano with a rather subtle nose of red cherries with hints of plum cake and spice. Ripe and quite rich, but with some delicacy and plenty of dry tannins." James Suckling

"Boscarelli's new single-vineyard expression offers a pristine and unobstructed view into Tuscany's Sangiovese grape as interpreted in a warm and sunny vintage. Luca de Ferrari and his family always make some of the purest and most elegant expressions from this Tuscan appellation. The pretty 2015 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Costa Grande is redolent of wild berry, cherry, pressed violets and fragrant moist earth. You feel the density and richness of the vintage, however the wine is linear, smooth and silky all the while." Robert Parker

"Made entirely with Sangiovese, this offers enticing aromas of exotic spice, ripe black-skinned fruit, tilled soil, French oak and a whiff of leather. The full-bodied palate boasts structure, elegance and tension, delivering juicy wild cherry, raspberry, star anise and espresso set against firm fine-grained tannins." “Bucerchiale” Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG 2015 · MAGNUM in OWC

Intense garnet red. In the nose pomegranate, cherry and blackberry notes with cloves. Complex in taste, earthy and powerful. A gripping tannin accompanies a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2015 Chianti Rùfina Riserva Vigento Bucerchiale is powerful, dense and quite structured. Readers will have to be patient with this strapping, tannic Riserva, but there is more than enough stuffing and pedigree to allow the 2015 to develop into a gorgeous wine in a few years' time. Wild cherry, sweet tobacco, mint and dried flowers add layers of nuance on the potent finish." VINOUS

"The Selvapiana 2015 Chianti Rufina Riserva Vigneto Bucerchiale is a generous and exuberant expression of Sangiovese that remains ever-faithful to its traditional and territory-driven roots. This wine speaks with a Tuscan tongue, giving voice to wild berry, earthy truffle and aromas of Mediterranean herb. The finish is softly fruity with subtle structure (which is firm and binding nonetheless) and fresh acidity." Robert Parker

"Combining an irresistible pairing of earthy elegance and ageworthy structure, this fragrant, focused red boasts heady scents of smoke, wild berry, pipe tobacco, sunbaked earth and rose petal. The taut linear palate shows lovely tension, delivering juicy Morello cherry, crushed raspberry, baking spice and licorice framed in youthfully firm but refined tannins. Fresh acidity lends balance and energy." Wine Enthusiast

“Bòggina A” Sangiovese Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2016 (BIO)

The A in the name of the Boggina stands for the natural wine aged in terracotta amphoras of 400-600 Liters each for approx. 6 months, which is bottled in a quantity of just 1,200 bottles without any further addition of sulphites. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, bright garnet red. Opened with a pronounced earthy note, followed by cranberries and raspberries. On the palate a lot of fine-meshed tannin, interwoven with fine enamel, very clear and juicy." Falstaff

"The 2016 Bòggina A is 100% Sangiovese done in amphora. Crushed flowers, dried rose petals, mint, sweet tobacco and savory herbs give the wine much of its distinctive, pungent personality. Time in the glass helps soften some of the more angular contours that are present initially, while also allowing the aromatics to fully emerge." VINOUS

"This is elegant, offering cherry, plum, tobacco, leather and earth flavors, backed by lively acidity. Harmonious and long, echoing the leather and tobacco elements, with a hint of mineral." Wine Spectator

"Extremely refined and beautiful with tight density of fruit and polished, linear tannins. Full to medium body and a bright, beautiful finish. Iron and stones, too. Made in amphora." James Suckling

"Aged in amphorae, the 2016 Val d'Arno di Sopra Bòggina A is a pure expression of Sangiovese. The wine is beautifully ethereal, delicate and fragile, showing focused purity and intensity at the same time. In a nutshell, this wine embraces all the best characteristic of this iconic vintage, especially in terms of the crystalline authenticity of its varietal aromas. Luca Sanjust experimented with Spanish clay vessels and then went back to Tuscan terracotta amphorae made with clay from Impruneta (not far from Florence). This wine is light and luminous with mid-weight texture but a very long and silky finish. It is a true beauty." Robert Parker

Exceptionally clear in its aroma of ripe fruit, notes of smoke, liquorice and tar. On the palate it reveals ever new nuances of its personality. Elegant and refined in every way. SUPERIORE.DE

"This red is complex and balanced, showing herbal and olive aromas and flavors, along with black currant, iron and tobacco notes. Firm tannins mark the finish as this persists, revealing fruit and savory herb details." Wine Spectator

"Aromas of crushed raspberries, earth, white pepper, and lemon rind follow through to a medium body, light tannins and a clean finish. Fine and clean. Needs a year or two to soften." James Suckling

"Thick and richly endowed, the 2016 Il Pino di Biserno (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon) is a full-bodied Tuscan blend with dark fruit, spice, tobacco, tar and licorice, all delivered with seamless execution and care. This wine offers thick density followed by deep layers of sweet spice and succulent black fruit." Robert Parker

"The 2016 Il Pino di Biserno is powerful, if rather somber. Dark fruit, scorched earth, graphite, leather, tobacco and torrefaction add to an impression of depth and gravitas. Readers will have to be patient with the 2016, as it needs at least a few years in bottle to shed some of its formidable tannic heft. Even today, though, the 2016 is impressive. “Villa di Capezzana” Rosso Carmignano DOCG 2015 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC

Villa di Capezzana is regarded as one of the most long-lived wines in Tuscany. A vertical tasting with 20 vintages dates back to 1937 - none of the vintages showed any signs of fatigue. The wine is spontaneously fermented and aged in large and small wooden barrels, a third of the small wood is renewed every year.

Dark ruby red. Black cherries, blackberries, blackcurrants and noble woods dominate the nose. On the palate the wine is firm, well structured and with a long finish.
      Decanting recommended.SUPERIORE.DE

"Beautiful berry and flower aromas; juicy and perfectly balanced on the palate, shows finesse and yet also character. In the finish, a symbiosis of finesse and structure." Vinum

"Made with organic fruit, the 2015 Carmignano Villa di Capezzana is a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the flagship wine made by this estate, and it has been in production since 1925. This warm vintage opens to abundant fruit with black cherry and blackberry at the front. Softer tones of spice, leather and tobacco fill in the rear. You get great value in this easy-drinking mid-weight Tuscan red." Robert Parker

"Fascinating aromas of blueberries, orange peel and watermelon following through to a full body. Round and juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Lots of toasted oak showing now, but it should come out beautifully with bottle age." James Suckling

      “Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016

Deep dark ruby. In the nose cassis, black berries and a powerful herb spice with a good dose of pipe tobacco. On the palate dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full-bodied body. This wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and an almost infinite finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, glowing ruby violet. Finely drawn nose with notes of dark, juicy currants, some tar and slate in the background. It plays nicely on the palate, a lot of present berry fruit, fine-meshed tannin, unfolds very straight." Falstaff

"The 2016 Oreno is gorgeous. Rich, unctuous and resonant, the 2016 is laced with inky blue/purplish fruit, bittersweet chocolate, spice, lavender, licorice and incense. I would prefer to give the 2016 a few years to come into its own, but it is impressive, even in the early going. Silky tannins and dense, plush fruit add to its undeniable immediacy and sheer appeal." Antonio Galloni

"The 2016 Oreno is a fantastic expression from Tuscany that blossoms with each swirl and tilt of the glass. This is a full-bodied red with generous aromas of black fruit, spice, tobacco and soft spice." Robert Parker

"Gorgeous floral and deep, dark berry aromas with hints of spices such as cinnamon and hazelnuts. Full body and ultra-fine and strong tannins that are powerful yet so sleek and beautiful. • "Campo di Tenaglia" Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2016

“Campo di Tenaglia” Cabernet Franc Toscana IGT 2016

Just 1,900 bottles of this 0.8 hectare Cabernet Franc vineyard "Campo di Tenaglia" (approx. 550 m above sea level, mainly limestone) are sold worldwide in specialist shops and on the maps of the best restaurants.

Impenetrable, dark wine with a bouquet of flint, crushed minerals and some chalk. The texture is rich and opulent, but always smooth with a hint of minerality. Campo di Tenaglia is one of the juiciest Cabernet francs we have ever had in a glass. Beautiful, long finale and a certainly great storage potential. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, shiny ruby with a violet shimmer. Very compact and dense nose, lots of blackberry, lots of blackcurrant, some blueberry, followed by notes of thyme and white pepper. Full and dense in base and course, shows much ripe berry fruit, paired with spice, dense tannin, fine melt, concentrated but also fresh." Falstaff

"Wonderfully smooth on the palate with extremely fine tannins and an appetisingly dry finish. Tuscany speaks as well as the grape in this tangy, deep-flavoured wine. Needs a bit more time." Jancis Robinson

"Muscular and compact now, this red evokes plum, black currant, leather, leafy tobacco and toasty, spicy flavors. The dense tannins exert themselves while the vivid acidity shines through on the finish, which is long and palate-staining." Wine Spectator

"The 2016 Campo di Tenaglia, 100% Cabernet Franc from a parcel planted on decomposed limestone, is explosive, dark and inviting, with tons of black cherry, blackberry jam, gravel, smoke, licorice and dark chocolate. A wine of brooding power and gravitas, the Campo di Tenaglia shows the more virile side of Cabernet Franc oft great effect. In this tasting, it is dazzling." Antonio Galloni

"Here is another beautiful Cabernet Franc from Tenuta di Trinoro, from a parcel characterized by sandier soils with rocks. The 2016 Campo di Tenaglia has remarkable intensity and a lovely richness. It has a soothing dark spiciness but remains very compact at its core. After eight months in new barrique, it goes into cement to rest and integrate for an additional 11 months." Robert Parker

    • "Vigna dell'Impero 1935" Rosso Val d'Arno di Sopra DOC 2015

“Vigna dell’Impero 1935” Rosso Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC 2015

The Sangiovese grapes of this wine come from the vineyard of the Empire of His Royal Highness the Count of Turin, Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy, who planted it in 1935. The soil is a mixture of clay and gravel, rich in marl and rock, which gives the grapes a spectacular minerality. The variations in temperature during the day play a decisive role in developing the finest aromas, which are elegant and complex. The wine, bottled in numbered bottles, is not filtered in order to preserve all the typical varietal notes and characteristics of Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, intense garnet red. Very open and accessible nose, old-style in the best sense, of rhubarb, pomegranate, sour cherry and cherry stones. Relaxed and supple at the base, it opens with a grippy, fine-grained tannin, salty and very long, ripe fruit in the aftertaste". (Place 45 / 100 "Best 100 under 100€) Falstaff

"The 2015 Valdarno di Sopra Vigna dell'Impero offers aromas of candied cherry, blackberry, spice and leather. The finish is on the soft side, and I am assigning a slightly shorter drinking window for this warm vintage as a result. The fruit is concentrated and rich, thanks to the heat of the growing season." Robert Parker

"A tight and focused red with cherry, earth and orange peel. Roses, too. Full body yet very reserved with ultra-fine tannins and a fresh finish. Linear and beautiful. Old vine sangiovese. Shows outstanding potential. " James Suckling

    Wine Advocate - Random Tuscany

A few days ago they were unveiled: the new ratings of selected Tuscan wines from the wonderful vintages 2015 and 2016, with some 98-point wines from the region's leading wineries for years, but also wonderful wines off the beaten track, such as from the sub-regions Carmignano, Val d'Arno di Sopra or Rufina.

Fontalloro 2016: "The 2016 Fontalloro is the best vintage of this landmark wine that I have tasted thus far. This is a very elegant vintage, with more volume in the mouth and precise notes of tar, licorice, camphor ash, resin and Indian spice" 98+ points

Galatrona 2016: "This is the flagship wine from Luca Sanjust's Petrolo estate located not too far from Arezzo in the Valdarno area of eastern Tuscany. The 2016 Galatrona is indeed a masterpiece to behold." 98 points

Redigaffi 2016: "Wow. This is a beautiful year for Tua Rita's legendary Merlot. It has a remarkable persistence to the bouquet, along with tonic crispness and a velvety mouthfeel. It's a complete and beautifully structured expression, most notable for its freshness and softness." 98 points

From Barone Ricasoli to Tua Rita: Have fun browsing and enjoying, as always, while stocks last.
