“Selezione 3 Cru” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 · 3 Bottles in Gift Box
Historically, the vineyards of Castello di Fonterutoli are located in the areas of three neighbouring municipalities of Chianti Classico: Castellina in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Radda in Chianti. With the 2017 vintage, the Mazzei family has for the first time vinified all three large vineyards separately as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione to reflect the diversity of the terroir: Castello di Fonterutoli, Vicoregio 36 and Badiola.
We are pleased to offer you all three crus from three terroirs from three communes in a beautiful decorative box!
1 bottle à 0,75l | "Castello Fonterutoli" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
Castello di Fonterutoli comes from 11 different plots at an altitude of 420-510 m around the hamlet of Fonterutoli in Castellina in Chianti. It is quasi the "château" and at the same time the oldest cru of the winery and was first produced in 1995 as the predecessor of today's Gran Selezione. Rich colour and a clear scent of blackberries, cherries, violets and flowers, plus a little nougat. This full-bodied Castello Fonterutoli impresses with its beguiling extract sweetness and polished tannin. The intense and concentrated taste enchants the senses. The long final is full of elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"Spring flowers and crushed forest fruit over tangerine and sweet tobacco nuances. Spicy palate with lots of black fruits." DECANTER
"Cherries and strawberries on the nose with sandalwood and dried flowers. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins and a beautiful, long finish. This is a very fine-textured Chianti Classico with such complexity and finesse. Drinkable now, but better in 2022." JAMES SUCKLING

Decanter: 93 points / Silver medal1 bottle à 0,75l | "Badiòla" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
Badiòla is the historic name of a vineyard in the municipality of Radda, whose grapes are vinified separately for the first time by the Mazzei family as Gran Selezione with the 2017 vintage. Bright ruby, a restrained but clear nose of wild berries, blue flowers, undergrowth, and hints of dark pepper. On the palate, Badiòla is masterfully balanced, almost weightless. The very well integrated tannin makes it seem supple from the first to the last glass and impresses with its long finish - its elegance is magnificent! SUPERIORE.DE
"Super elegant nose with red fruits, rose petals, violets, toasted almonds, blood oranges and fresh herbs. Bold palate with full body." DECANTER
"Sweet berries on the nose with citrus and cedar undertones. Hints of dried flowers, too. Full-bodied with a tight palate and polished tannins. The wine shows plenty of fruit, cream and cedar undertones. Chewy yet friendly finish." JAMES SUCKLING

Decanter: 93 points / Silver medal1 bottle à 0,75l | "Vicoregio 36" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
Vicoregio 36 is the successor to the ambitious Mix 36 and, as of 2017, a true Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. As a result of 50 years of research, 36 biotypes of the Sangiovese grape were planted on a sunny plateau near Castelnuova Berardenga, from which this extremely interesting and distinctive wine was created a few years ago. The overall impression is very balanced and straightforward with hints of red cherries, spices, dried blueberries and tobacco. It is the warmest and most balanced of the three Gran Selezione wines. Its intensity, richness of colour and precise fruit instantly captivate the Sangiovese lover. SUPERIORE.DE
"There's sweetness of fruit and finesse to this, giving a creamy texture and plenty of cherry, berry, and rose-water character. It's medium-to full-bodied with integrated tannins that are soft and creamy. Succulent finish. A little tight at the end, but will open nicely in a year or two. Best from 2023." JAMES SUCKLING
"Delicate and youthful nose of pure crunchy red cherry, vanilla framed by herbal and leathery notes. Lovely brambly palate with a vibrant acidity and blood oranges character. Long, mineral finish." DECANTER

“I Vigneti di Castello di Ama” IGT/DOCG 2011 Horizontale · 3 Bottles in OWC
Rare horizontal in a gift box of 3 - an exclusive and strictly limited selection of the crus "Vigna L'Apparita", "Vigneto La Casuccia" and "Vigneto Bellavista" of the 2011 vintage.
1 bottle à 0,75l | "Vigna L'Apparita" Merlot Toscana IGT 2011 in gift box
Elegant Merlot from high altitude vineyards, whose further development in the bottle always fascinates. Very inviting bouquet, ripe berry note, elderberry and coffee. Extremely fine and structured on the palate, dense, polished tannins, finishes very long and relaxed. SUPERIORE.DE
"Compared to 2010, the 2011 L'Apparita (100% Merlot) is a very different wine. It's impossible to imagine how Castello di Ama could improve on the utterly divine and delicious 2010, but I liked 2011 even more. Again, I just feel that this estate with its vineyards that reach beyond 500 meters in altitude performs best with warm vintages such as this one. Those who love Castello di Ama's wines will have to wait until the 2013 vintage is released. This is a gorgeous wine that sings in a loud and graceful voice. That extra cherry softness of Merlot has been pulled back to a perfect point. The wine offers layers of richness and suppleness. The effects are layered, complex and absolutely engaging. This is a standout wine." Robert Parker
"A deep and beautiful red with ripe berry, plum and orange peel character. Almost exotic in style. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a caressing texture. Goes on for minutes. So beautiful now but will be event better in 2018. Greatest L'Apparita ever?" James Suckling

1 bottle à 0,75l | "Vigneto La Casuccia" Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2011 in gift box
Chianti Classico La Casuccia from the single vineyard of the same name with Gran Selezione status combines in its typical way exemplary excellent structure with the highest elegance. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto La Casuccia is opulent and voluptuous with thick lines of dark fruit and spice that characterize the bouquet. More than heft and power, this wine delivers excellent complexity with layers of black truffle, grilled herb and cherry cola that add vertical lift." Robert Parker
"A wine of pure femininity and grace, the 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto La Casuccia is wonderfully fleshy and radiant in the glass. Rose petal, sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint and spices meld together as this effortless, supple wine shows off its undeniably appealing personality. Sweet, silky tannins wrap around a super-expressive finish laced with knock-out aromatics. The 2011 is firing on all cylinders today." VINOUS
"Amazing aromas of crushed dark fruits with raspberry, blueberry and blackberry. Dried flowers and violets too, plus tanned leather. Full body, ultra-fine yet dense tannins and a finish that lasts for minutes. Stunning texture. One of the greatest Chianti Classicos ever made." James Suckling

The 2011 edition of the Gran Selezione from the Bellavista single vineyard is rich and dark with aromas of wild cherry, smoke, liquorice, menthol and tobacco. Extremely attractive and rich on the palate, firm tannins form the backbone of this virile, potent wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista opens to dark concentration, bold intensity and an immediate delivery of ripe fruit flavors. Stylistically speaking, this single-vineyard Grand Selezione is extracted, muscular and extremely fruit forward. The heat of the 2011 vintage comes through loud and clear. Happily, the mouthfeel is tighter and more focused with dusty minerality on the tannins and long persistency." Robert Parker
"Ama's 2011 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista shows the darker, more brooding style of Sangiovese at Ama. Graphite, smoke, tar, licorice, incense and cloves wrap around a core of dark fruit. A wine of gravitas and vertical structure, the 2011 will reward several decades of cellaring. This is an unusually stern wine for the vintage though. Readers will have to be patient to experience the Bellavista at its best. Still, I can't help notice how much the 2011 has grown in bottle over the last year." VINOUS

“Ilatraia Special Edition” Rosso Toscana IGT 2015 · 6 Bottles in OWC
This exclusive wooden box of 6 contains not only 3 bottles of the legendary Maremma cuvée Ilatraia 2015, but also one single-varietal bottle each of its "individual parts", which have never been put on sale in this form.
3x 0,75l "Ilatraia" Rosso Maremma IGT 2015 / 14,50 % vol / 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc
Deep dark ruby. Opulent nose of red berries, pleasant smoky notes and fine herbal spice. Opulent and round on the palate, the fine tannins give the wine a delicate but definite structure and the necessary seriousness until the long, soft finish. The well-integrated wood and the fruit of the Cabernet grape find an exciting symbiosis with the rather strict and taut Petit Verdot style in a very harmonious way. The wine gets better with each release and 2015 was an almost perfect year with optimal climate and ideal ripening point of the grapes. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2015 Ilatraia is a drop-dead gorgeous blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Petit Verdot and 20% Cabernet Franc with all fruit coming from Brancaia's Maremma vineyards along the Tuscan coast. This warm vintage has shaped an exuberant and intense red wine that hits the palate with lavish richness. The complex bouquet is composed of dark fruit elements that are contrasted seamlessly against spice, sweet tobacco and campfire ash. Yet the mouthfeel is never too heavy or overextracted. There's a lot to enjoy here." Robert Parker (95 P.)
"Aromas of black licorice and blackberry. Blueberry, too. This is so complex. Full body, extremely silky and polished with lovely tannins. Deep and long. It seems powerful and rich yet ends so balanced and refined. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and cabernet franc." James Suckling (96 P.)
1x 0,75l Cabernet Sauvignon Maremma IGT 2015 / 14,50 % vol / 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
" A very linear cabernet sauvignon with firm and silky tannins, as well as mineral, currants and hints of rosemary. Firm and crisp." James Suckling (93P.)
1x 0.75l Petit Verdot Maremma IGT 2015 / 14.50 % vol / 100% Petit Verdot
"Very inky on the nose with some blood and orange peel undertones to the dark fruits. Full-bodied, very intense and energized on the palate. Firm and silky tannins, too." James Suckling (95P.)
1x 0,75l Cabernet Franc Maremma IGT 2015 / 14,50 % vol / 100% Cabernet Franc
"This is fantastic with currants, currant bush and strawberry undertones. Some flowers, too. Full-bodied and generous, yet firm and silky. Shows poise and focus." James Suckling (95P.)

Barbaresco “Selezione Tre Vigneti” Riserva DOCG 2007 · 3 MAGNUM-Bottles in OWC
La Spinettas Riserve of the Barbaresco vineyards Gallina, Starderi and Valeirano are filled only in the best vintages and are sold exclusively in magnum bottles. Here you get all three single layers from the top vintage 2007 in strictly limited 3er wooden box. SUPERIORE.DE
"A highlight of my Piedmont tasting tour this spring was my visit with Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta. We met at the modern Campè winery that is located at the bottom of the next hill over from the historic Castello di Grinzane Cavour, an important landmark for the entire Barolo appellation. Upon my arrival, I was greeted to a long table fitted with an equally long line of wine bottles. I counted 35 of them. It’s a good thing I had built in extra time before my next tasting appointment that day. The La Spinetta wines are truly outstanding. I would especially like to draw your attention to the late-release wines (produced in magnum only) from the 2007 vintage." Robert Parker

Barbaresco "Vigneto Gallina" Riserva DOCG 2007"Only in the best vintages, La Spinetta releases magnum-only editions of its top wines. These wines are generally released ten years after the harvest following additional bottle aging (and one extra year of oak) under the most stringent conditions back at the winery. This year, one of these absolute gems is the 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Gallina (Magnum). I am a huge fan of the sheer elegance produced in this vineyard. This quality has been harnessed to perfection in the case of this wine. It is beautifully evolved, long and silky. Yet, the primary fruit sings loudest of all. This is a delightful achievement." Robert Parker

Barbaresco "Vigneto Starderi" Riserva DOCG 2007"The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Starderi (Magnum) immediately flaunts the density and important structure that is associated with this celebrated vineyard site. This is an overtly generous and bountiful expression of Nebbiolo that offers thick layers of aromatic intensity. The wine's best asset is the intact and vibrant quality of the primary fruit—so presented now, eleven years after the harvest. This is an expensive bottle for sure, but it does award a delicious and unforgettable experience." Robert Parker

Barbaresco "Vigneto Valeirano" Riserva DOCG 2007"This wine represents a crowning achievement among an elite group of magnum-only delayed releases. The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Valeirano (Magnum) is nothing short of magnificent. It is intense and articulate in ways you don't expect. Specifically, I am referring to the vibrant and dazzling quality of fruit that is traveling full speed ahead. Nothing about this wine has slowed down. In fact, I would expect this beautiful interpretation to pick up further speed and complexity as it continues its evolution. This wine is old but also new, sweet but also savory and powerful but also elegant. It is a wine of profound contrasts that find impeccable unity despite those inherent contradictions. Congratulations to La Spinetta." Robert Parker
