• "Orion" Primitivo del Salento IGT 2017
MAGNUM

“Orion” Primitivo del Salento IGT 2017 · MAGNUM

Orion is a very special primitivo, it is always fresh and of a remarkable endurance. Dense ruby red with violet edge, intense nose of aromas of ripe and fleshy red cherries, followed by spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. In the mouth powerful, smooth and very long. Its clearly defined acid wire sets it apart freshly and pleasantly from the otherwise far too often offered sweet, jamy primitivo monotony. SUPERIORE.DE

"Ripe cherry and blackberry aromas are lifted by orange and potpourri spices. Rounded in feel, the palate pops in bright, bouncy red-fruit flavors, with spicy tannins riding under-neath. Accents of violet and graphite arise on the midpalate and extend through the finish." Wine Enthusiast

    • "Cassiopea Pagus Cerbaia" Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2016

“Cassiopea Pagus Cerbaia” Rosato Bolgheri DOC 2016

Pagus Cerbaia is a first class small plot of land with sedimentary soils. This is where the small quantities of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon come from, some of which are fermented in amphorae and oak barrels after harvesting. The "Selection Rosato", bottled in only a few hundred bottles, offers an intense floral aroma and captivates the palate in a lively and cheerful way with a persistent spicy note and a wonderfully complex finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"This is extremely long and polished with a great finish. Medium body, dense and fruity with lovely acidity. Gives depth and form at the finish. Made in amphora and barrel. Syrah. New and exciting wine." James Suckling

“Contado” Aglianico Riserva Molise DOC 2014 · MAGNUM

Concentrated ruby red with garnet reflections. To the predominant cherry and berry smell the wood contributes quite light allusions of roasted coffee. Full and very intense taste of dark berries, very slightly violet and plum, the compact tannins are carried by balsamic notes, in the aftertaste fine liquorice tones. SUPERIORE.DE

    • 1924 Prosecco Spumante di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG Brut
0,75l in OWC

1924 Prosecco Spumante di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore DOCG Brut · 0,75l in OWC

"1924" is a reminiscence of the founder Antonio Carpenè, who was instrumental in the development of the Prosecco Spumante as we know it today. The production is also special, with a beautiful reproduction of the label of that time: the necessary second fermentation on the yeast in the pressure tank (autoclave) lasts a full 25 days, which leads to a finer development of the bouquet, the aromas and the perlage. This high-quality Prosecco Superiore presents itself in the nose fine-fruity after ripe fruits and white blooms, in the taste it is full of character with a beautiful acidity, the correct dose of yellow pomace fruit and subtle almond note. This noble bubble / sparkling wine is a prime example of the DOCG and a more than appropriate appreciation of the inventor! SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright, brilliant silver with fine perlage. In the nose of melon, smoke, slightly greasy, flintstone. On the palate balanced and fine, rests elegantly in itself, juicy, opens clear and balanced, in the aftertaste further juicy and slightly salty, long". Falstaff

“Schulthauser” Pinot Bianco Alto Adige DOC 2018 · MAGNUM

Schulthauser Pinot Bianco is the classic among the South Tyrolean Pinot Blanc. Its success began in 1986, when it was first expanded and bottled. A perfect, fine-fruity fresh wine, which seduces with creamy softness and racy acidity to enjoy. SUPERIORE.DE

"Clover blossom, marigold, spring meadow. On the palate elegant and juicy, in the middle of the palate quite physical strength, in the aromas restrained, still youthful-compact, a slight materiality in the transition to the finish, which hints, herbal spicy will unfold. Good food companion." Falstaff

"Complex nose of fresh apple, pear and candied zest. A palate of definite substance with rich, buzzing fruit qualities and ripe texture." Decanter

"Floral and pretty with lilac and cooked-pear character. Hints of honey. Medium body. Crisp finish." James Suckling

"Crushed thyme, alpine wildflower, beeswax and orchard-fruit aromas are front and center on this beautiful white. Proving just how well Pinot Bianco can do in Alto Adige, the creamy palate is loaded with finesse, delivering ripe yellow pear, creamy apple and citrus alongside tangy acidity. White-almond and stony mineral notes back up the finish." (Editors Choice) Wine Enthusiast

    Things to know about
    Rarities

In particularly good vintages, particularly fine wines ripen naturally. The winegrowers often bottle wines from rare vintages separately. In large bottles, because the maturation takes place a little slower in them. And because they are of course also sought after as collector's items or as gifts.

These special bottles usually come in a specially designed gift box or an original wooden cassette, also abbreviated OWC. For the protection of heavy bottles, as collector's items or for counterfeit protection. Particularly valuable wines are therefore often only offered in 6 or 12 OWCs. These bring, if one collects these under yield aspects, then also with auctions clearly higher values.

Jeroboam. Balthazar. Nebuchadnezzar. Methuselah. What the fuck are you doing?

This is what these rare large bottles are called. From France. But not even there uniformly. It may well be that a bottle in Bordeaux and Champagne has the same name, but has a different number of litres. A little confusing, then. Internationally, however, these designations have become established for wine: Magnum (two standard bottles) 1,5 l, double magnum 3 l, Jeroboam 5 l, Methusalem 6 l, Balthazar 12 l and Nebuchadnezzar 18 l.

    Vertical. Special lovers vintages.

The highlight for real wine lovers. The same wine from different top vintages. That's when the wine freak becomes the afficionado. You invite your best friends, decant the wines for lunch (don't forget to order decanters!), take the matching Riedel glasses and then enjoy the evening when your friends have no idea what they have in the glass and guess completely wrong. At the end the bottles are presented and then there is nobody who doesn't go home happy and smiling. SUPERIORE.DE
