Grappa invecchiata “Bricco dell’Uccellone” 2018
The Bolognas - Barbera pioneers from Piedmont - have their Grappa Invecchiata di Bricco dell'Uccellone produced every year by the famous Distelleria Berta. Obtained from the marc of the Bricco dell'Uccellone, distilled according to the classic, discontinuous method by the Berta grappa dynasty in Mombaruzzo, Piedmont, matured in those wooden barrels in which the coveted and avant-garde Barbera wine was previously aged. Only about 4,000 bottles of this noble distillate are produced.
Delicate golden, impressive colour. Elegantly revealing the essence of Bricco dell'Uccellone, it beautifully reflects the DNA of Barbera. SUPERIORE.DE

The Bologna family has been successfully producing wine in Monferrato for about half a century. And her winery Braida has always been one of the most outstanding wineries in Piedmont. With the siblings Raffaella and Giuseppe Bologna, the third generation has taken over the management of the family business. The two enologists combine modern knowledge with tradition in their work. In the 1980s, her father Giacomo Bologna had broken new ground in dealing with the Barbera grape by daring for the first time to mature in barriques and giving the red variety the status of a noble vine. The name of the winery goes back to the grandfather of the present-day owners, Giuseppe Bologna, who used to nickname himself Giuseppe Bologna on village squares during ball games. "Braida" for the first time.
The production of the world-famous winery is mainly focused on Barbera, the most widespread grape variety in Piedmont. The winery also sees itself as a pioneer of the Barbera d'Asti. The grapes for the flagship of the Braida winery and probably the most famous Barbera of all - the "Bricco dell'Uccellone". There are also vines in Costigliole d'Asti and Castelnuovo Calcea and in the higher vineyards of Mango d'Alba and Trezzo Tinella. Raffaella and Giuseppe, in addition to the Barbera grape, are also dedicated to other indigenous grape varieties such as Moscato, Brachetto and Grignolino. Merlot, Pinot Nero and Cabernet Sauvignon also grow in the estate's own vineyards. The floors consist mostly of clay, lime and sand. The soil is usually loose to medium hard.
Uncompromising pursuit of quality, passion for the terroir, innovation and sustainability are the ingredients of Braida's success. The worldwide great recognition can be read not only in the cult wine "Bricco dell'Uccellone"but also in the Barbera classic "Montebruna" and in "Bricco della Bigotta". All three wines have been alternated by the wine guide in Gambero Rossothe past years with "Three glasses" excellent. SUPERIORE.DE
