“Poggio Valente” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
Poggio Valente comes from a single vineyard of the same name at an altitude of about 300m. Opulent floral and small-fruited Sangiovese nose with optimally nuanced hints of tobacco, cedar and mint. Precise on the palate with lots of pressure and power, then towards the end the furious resolution of all the well-dosed components in a fine, silky texture and an unforgettable, long final. SUPERIORE.DE
"Engaging bouquet with cherry and rose notes, nuances of maquis and tobacco; precise and vertical on the palate, the tightly woven tannins and acidity in balance, the finish as long as an eel. With pasta with black truffles." Vinum
"Sangiovese from a single vineyard, located at about 300 to 350 m.a.s.l., Scansano is at about 500 m.a.s.l.; 3 to 4 weeks of maceration. Celebrates its 25th anniversary with the 2021 vintage. Auguri! Very intense, immensely engaging and densely fruity bouquet with Mediterranean maquis spice and balsamic notes, almost reminiscent of coniferous forest and asphalt, behind which ripe cherries and plum skin as well as liquorice. In the mouth powerful and voluminous without being fat, densely woven with sweetish, slightly roughening tannins, infused with a delicate mineral-balsamic note. What a value for money. Buy!" Weinwisser
"Rich ruby violet. Rich and appealing nose, full of plums. Has a lot of fine spice on the palate of dried herbs, sage and curry herb, substantial on the palate, already astonishingly polished tannin, lots of plums again on the final." Falstaff
"The 2019 Poggio Valente is gorgeous. Bright and vibrant in the glass with terrific energy, the Poggio Valente is a fine example of the style favored here these days. Dark red/purplish fruit, rose petal, spice and orange zest complement a core of Sangiovese fruit. I especially like the vibrancy here. The 2019 is absolutely delicious. That's all there is to it. " Vinous
"A red with intensity on a weightless frame, leaving plenty of room for cherry, blackberry, chocolate, nutmeg and white pepper flavors to shine. The tannins are present, yet uplifting rather than obtrusive." Wine Spectator
"This wine always stands out in my mind, and it's worth dedicating a few words as to why. Poggio Valente offers us a rare opportunity to taste Sangiovese made according to the highest standards but from a territory - on the Tuscan Coast - that does not share a big legacy with monovarietal Sangiovese reds. The Fattoria le Pupille 2019 Poggio Valente was born in a happy vintage with a cool spring and a growing season that had plenty of underground water reserves to keep the vines hydrated well until the end of August. This is a full and generous wine with dark cherry and wild plum aromas that segue to tar, licorice and crushed slate." Wine Advocate
"This is very dense and structured with stone and blackberry character. Full-bodied and intense with chewy tannins that frame the wine. Flavorful finish. Smoky and lightly bitter, in a good way. Pure sangiovese. This needs time to soften." James Suckling

“Oreno 20 anni” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019 · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
Deep dark ruby violet. On the nose, cassis, blackcurrant and a powerful herbal spiciness with a good dose of pipe tobacco, tar and crushed boulders. On the palate, dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full body. This wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and a seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby red. Expressive and inviting nose of ripe strawberries and red currants, a hint of raspberry jam, carried by nuances of fine wood and cigar box. Very polished palate entry, opens in the mouth with delicate creaminess and velvety tannin, noble spice and fruit at the core, shows considerable juiciness at the back and thus draught, great length and elegance." Falstaff
"This vibrant red is saturated with black cherry, blackberry, iron and underbrush flavors. The tannins turn chewy on the finish, where a note of bitter almond lingers along with freshness." Wine Spectator
"The Tenuta Sette Ponti 2019 Oreno celebrates the wine's 20th anniversary (1999-2019) with a special label and a heavy glass bottle. This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot is beautifully ripe and generous with impeccable fruit throughout. Its primary intensity is delivered with energy and character, showcasing broad brush aromas of black fruit, exotic spice, cured tobacco and new leather. The tannins are quite strong in this edition and do make for a brief moment of astringency on the close. This is a thickly extracted blended Tuscan red, and it makes sense that its fiber and structure is also more compact and concentrated in 2019." Wine Advocate
"Wow. Fantastic aromas of blackberries, currants, minerals, violets and graphite. Full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that are incredibly polished and intense, yet ever so refined and integrated in the wine. It goes on for minutes. The is one of the best modern-day Orenos so far. Best in 2025 and onwards." James Suckling

“Orma” Toscana Rosso IGT 2020 · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
Deep ruby red, intense, fresh aroma of dark fruit underpinned with delicate toasted aromas. Complex and full-bodied on the palate, with balsamic notes, perfectly integrated tannins and a finely balanced fruity-spicy finish. An intense wine that also doesn't want to be a lightweight and that plays off its power perfectly. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Orma 2020 from the Moretti Cuseri family is half Merlot with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc. As usual, the Orma brings a fair amount of weight with it at 15% by volume, resulting in a massive, dark colour. Rich in smell and less liqueur-like than usual, the Orma 2020 has more freshness and also the fruit aromas seem clearer, underpinned with fresh herbs, pithy and berry-cherry oriented. Initially round and juicy-melting on the tongue, the powerful tannins then still seem a little raw, with glassy-steely structure." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Intense nose with notes of cloves, some mint, fine blackberry, slightly earthy components in the background. Spreads out great on the palate, has lots of fine-meshed, hearty tannin, nice juiciness, crisp fruit, long final." Falstaff
"The Orma 2020 is richly concentrated and midnight black in appearance. It presents considerable intensity in terms of its ink-like flavors of wild plum, blackberry confit, dark spice and cured tobacco. The wine wraps heavily over the palate, imparting lots of important textural richness along the way. You are best off serving a wine of this depth and magnitude with a classic T-bone cut bistecca alla fiorentina." Wine Advocate
"Fragrant and expressive on the nose, the floral / dried herbal scents mingle on the nose putting you squarely in Tuscany. Lifted and beautiful, a sensational vibrant, lively, pure and pristine wine. So carefully delivered in terms of texture with a joyous quality to the fruit flavours and mineral aspects - a cleanness and precision. Detailed and finessed. Stunning with fleshy but well-integrated tannins and a kick all the way through to a long fresh finish. Complexity and structure, supremely balanced. A top pick and great value!" Decanter
"Tobacco, sage and rosemary come through nicely, together with redcurrants and cassis. Full-bodied, yet polished, with a solid and dense center-palate. Tight at the end now, but will open nicely." James Suckling

“Oreno” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 (BIO) · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
2020 is the first organic Oreno vintage. Deep dark ruby violet. On the nose, cassis, blackcurrant and a powerful herbal spice with a good dose of pipe tobacco, tar and crushed boulders. On the palate, dark berries, chocolate and a cornucopia of herbs define the full body. This juicy wine monument has precisely integrated tannins, an enormous silkiness and a seemingly endless finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Oreno is the top wine of the Tenuta Sette Ponti of the Moretti Cuseri family. The estate is located near Arezzo. The Oreno 2020 consists of 50 % Merlot, 40 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 10 % Petit Verdot. It is matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. Dense and clear, as well as with beautiful race, the Oreno presents itself somewhat finer than the Orma from the sister estate from the Maremma. Clearly more fresh and with more acid kick, the Oreno shines with a fleshy presence and great sweetness. The tannins are somewhat rounder, with good, creamy richness and solid length. In the finish, it seems a little slippery." Weinwisser
"Bright ruby red. The nose smells gently of blackberries, ripe forest fruits, some liquorice and mint, plus fine sealing wax in the aftertaste. On the palate radiant, clear, tightly woven tannin, plus present fruit, very juicy on the back end, seems balanced and profound, long finish." Falstaff
"Lovely detail on the nose, a sweet floral scent with touches of dried herbs, coffee and mint. Structured and fleshy, this has weight and power straight away with the focus more on the tannins and concentration of crunchy fruit than overt liveliness at this point. A serious, contemplative wine with lots going on. I love the intensity here, this is confident with clear direction and energy. I also love the salty, smoked stone taste at the end giving nuance and sense of place. Detailed and expressive, great winemaking on show here, and there is lots to get stuck into." Decanter
"From a warm vintage, the Tenuta Sette Ponti 2020 Oreno is very rich and fleshed out, and definitely softer compared to the 2019 vintage before it. This wine shows lots of savory fruit and velvety concentration with blackberry preserves and baked cherry. Oreno awards you with a very generous expression from Tuscany that can be enjoyed in the near- or medium-term." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Oreno is a dark, brooding beauty. Black cherry, plum, tobacco, spice, menthol, licorice and dried herbs all race across the palate. Deep, fleshy and super-expressive, the 2020 Oreno has a ton to offer. It should drink well with minimal cellaring but also has enough substance to drink well for many years to come." Vinous
"This is lush, yet dense and lively, offering black cherry, blackberry and black currant fruit, shaded by mineral, cedar and spice elements. Firms up by the finish, echoing fruit, mineral and spice accents, with fine length." Wine Spectator
"A red with a layered, velvety texture, showing blackberry and black-olive character, together with some iodine and graphite. Full-bodied and rich with lots of fruit and chewy tannins." James Suckling

“Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia” Bolgheri DOC 2020 · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
Beguiling aroma of sweet, dark berries with hints of cassis, cedar and antique leather. Very balanced on the palate, of beautiful viscosity with an elegant melting. Fine-meshed tannin, restrained mineral tones and a wonderfully polished fruit accompany into a remarkable finish. For all its elegance, it shows pressure and power and, with the right dose of acidity, promises a long life and almost reaches the level of its famous big brother. SUPERIORE.DE
"The intense ruby red Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2020 unabashedly reveals a clear and generous aromatic expression, marked by notes of ripe red fruits. On the palate, the wine is soft, round and enveloping, yet at the same time full-bodied and rich, with a good balance between structure, richness and elegance." Olga Fusari, Oenologist
"Rich, almost impenetrable dark ruby with a shimmering core. Graceful on the nose with notes of black ribes, mocha, tobacco leaf and some mint. Imposing and polished on the palate, elegant, very well integrated wood, fine-grained firm tannins, with excellent structure and a long finish with lots of dark fruit." Falstaff
"This muscular red is saturated with cherry, plum, vanilla and earth flavors. As solid and sinewy as the tannic structure is, the fruit matches it step by step on the long finish." Wine Spectator
"The Ornellaia 2020 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a generous and darkly toned red blend that has the extra fruit fiber, sweetness and generous plumpness of a warm vintage. The fullness of the fruit is on full display, but in a very relaxed and natural manner. The wine never feels like too much. The tannins are yielding and velvety, and this purebred Tuscan red wraps thickly over the palate." Wine Advocate

Deep dark ruby red. Floral nose with lots of red, warm fruit and delicate herbal notes. Supple and elegant on the palate with wonderful depth and complexity with notes of black cherry, herbs, violets, plum and hints of tar and leather. Saffredi literally sneaks up on you until it fades into a very long and harmonious finish with an impressive presence and finesse. One of Italy's great wines, full of elegance! SUPERIORE.DE
"Still slightly closed. Very multi-faceted on the nose, despite the hot and dry vintage with cool accents, balsamic and herbaceous notes, liquorice and pencil lead, certain Bordeaux airs. Quite linear in the mouth with a juicy, intense attack, still very youthful fruit, healthy, polished tannin structure, finely and detailedly arranged, this will be another great Saffredi." Weinwisser
"Impressive aromas of fresh herbs from the Tuscan coast, such as sage, mint, rosemary and thyme. Blackcurrants, too. Full-bodied with fine, chewy tannins that show beautiful length and consistency. Racy and beautiful, with lots of subtle and refined character. Slightly more cabernet sauvignon this year, which adds class to the wine. Give this about three or four years of bottle age." “Siepi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2020 · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
"This is one of the 50 wines that changed Italian wine culture." Gambero Rosso
Siepi 2020 already convinces at a young age with its volume, fruit and richness. It is made from equal parts Merlot and Sangiovese and both grapes bring their best qualities to the blend. The Sangiovese grape shows a distinct personality with area-specific notes of small berries and spices, and it also offers a wonderfully fresh acidity. The Merlot plays a strong role in the background, adding softness, richness and fullness. Siepi is an intense, punchy wine that has a terrificarc of tension, from its highly attractive extract sweetness to polished tannins into a fresh, spicy finish with an interesting salty note. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Siepi 2020 consists of half Sangiovese and half Merlot. The former is aged in large wooden barrels, the latter in 70 % new barriques. On the nose, the Siepi has a very finely honed and clear Sangiovese fruit, with a purist face and excellent depth. And also in the mouth, the Merlot appears aromatically only slightly present. Rather slender and finesse-rich on the tongue, the Siepi shows itself clearly defined and very differentiatedly elegant." Weinwisser
"Dark ruby with a drop of violet. In the nose of rich cherry fruit, blackberries, also of noble chocolate and leather, filigree drawn, exciting. Expressive and radiant on the palate, showing compact, dark berry fruit, plus polished, creamy tannin, without denying its Tuscan roots, grippy and powerful on the finish." Falstaff
"Transparent crimson with a pale rim. Haunting, ripe aroma that's probably a Merlot effect but without too much sweetness. On the palate the tang and vibrancy of Sangiovese is evident. But those two elements already seem very nicely married with a light hint of tea. Long. Already a really very beautiful expression of the fruit of the Tuscan hills. Good balance between freshness and ripeness." Jancis Robinson
"The 2020 Siepi is classy, elegant and super-polished. Inky blue fruit, lavender, new leather, cloves and mocha all meld together effortlessly. There is a sense of precision in the 2020 that is incredibly inviting. Even so, the 2020 is very young and not fully expressing its potential. This just needs time to emerge, but all the elements are there." Vinous
"Dried herbs and sweet spices on the nose, forest notes with bramble fruits, concentrated and expressive. Such a smooth delivery on the palate, tannins glide across the tongue giving the sweet strawberry, raspberry and plum fruit time to expand in the mouth as the acidity gives a mouthwatering aspect. This is very much on the lively and vibrant fruit - shouting loudly about its energy. Feels extremely well made, clear definition, finesse and balance. Such a gorgeous fruit profile, the high-toned strawberry and cherry, bright and piercing, yet also round and generous with tobacco and wood nuances. Ample tannins are fine but present, giving support. All round an exceptionally beautiful wine. I love this. Giving such immediate and youthful enjoyment but this will continue to age well." Decanter
"Graphite and lead pencil is coming through, together with violets and blackberries. Some tar and asphalt, too. Full-bodied, yet creamy and crunchy, with agile liveliness that goes on for minutes. Fabulous length. Drinkable already, but will age gracefully for decades." James Suckling

“Percarlo” Sangiovese di Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO) · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
Sangiovese in purezza. Wonderfully spicy aroma, dark forest berries and cherries, some graphite and cedar wood. On the palate, silky elegance, juicy, dark berry fruits, paired with an animating fruit-acid play that makes the wine really dance across the tongue. Percarlo has depth and length as well as potential for many years in the cellar. One of the great single-varietal Sangiovese of central Tuscany. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby-garnet. Finely marked nose, reveals its full depth only with repeated re-smelling, some pickled cherries, blackberries and ripe plums, plus fine tobacco notes. On the palate lots of dense tannin, compact and gripping, dark fruit, dark chocolate on the final, still needs a lot of maturity, very good potential." Falstaff
"A dense, tightly wound red, with tar, olive and tobacco aromas giving way to dusty cherry and plum flavors. Vibrant and firms up on the mineral-laden finish. A bit angular now, yet with fine potential." Wine Spectator
"The organic 2018 Percarlo is all Sangiovese from a special 30-hectare site that sees a mix of typical Tuscan soils at a breezy 270 meters in elevation. Before oak aging, the wine is fermented in a combination of stainless steel and cement. Percarlo reveals a luxuriously rich and dense quality. The wine's profound intensity is built by deep fruit and elegant mineral etchings. The bouquet is outstanding. However, the only distraction is the dry or powdery tannin that I enjoyed to a lesser extent." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Percarlo is another fabulous wine in this range from San Giusto. Ample and creamy, the 2018 dazzles with its total sense of finesse. In 2018, Percarlo is silky, gracious and super-refined. Time in the glass brings out attractive floral and spice overtones that lend brightness. It shows remarkably well for a wine that was bottled only recently." Vinous

Rich, concentrated Bordeaux-style red with the unmistakable signature of top oenological consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. Multi-layered black fruit on the nose, plus rocks, liquorice, camphor and graphite. Impressive suppleness on the palate, the fruit always juicy and centred, wonderful and almost perfect in structure, polish, elegance and length. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, deep dark ruby with a slight violet shimmer. Very clear and intense nose, shows rich notes of blackcurrants, black cherries and plums, some ginger in the background. Shows a very polished approach and course, lots of fine-meshed tannin, builds up rich pressure, hearty aftertaste of tobacco in the long finish." Falstaff
"Gorgeous aromas of blackcurrants and blackberries with hints of crushed stones and walnuts. Full body, firm and chewy tannins with blackberries and hints of chocolate and spice. Flavorful and intense at the end. Better after 2023, but better already very pretty." James Suckling
"The Fattoria La Massa 2018 Giorgio Primo is a wine of richness, volume and texture. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, and maceration times last 26 to 28 days to add the lovely depth and creaminess you taste here. Black fruit, crushed stone, truffle essence and toasted spice emerge from the bouquet. The wine's full-bodied structure and its freshness promise a long cellar-aging future." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Giorgio Primo represents a new level of finesse at La Massa. Powerful and dense in the glass, with tremendous structure, Giorgio Primo is a terrific example of how compelling international varieties are in Panzano's Conca d'Oro district. Crème de cassis, spice, new leather, chocolate and sweet spice build into the textured, palate-staining finish." Vinous

Brunello di Montalcino “Tenuta Nuova” DOCG 2018 · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
If there is one thing that Giacomo Neri has mastered 100%, it is harvesting at the optimal time of ripeness. He knows his property and his vines better than most and it shows.
The fruit of the 2018 vintage is deep and dark, with high levels of extract, intensity and flavour. It goes far beyond the standard cherry and blackberry to include plum cake, spice bread and bacon-wrapped plum. Nothing about this wine is obvious or monochromatic, everything is nuanced and ethereal. Tenuta Nuova also regularly features the mineral-salty notes that are characteristic of this single vineyard. Very supple tannins. SUPERIORE.DE
"From the Cetine vineyard, located southeast of Sant'Angelo in Colle, comes this bottling of Tenuta Nuova with Mediterranean flair and sensual appeal. A relatively early harvest16 September has preserved the freshness of the grapes. Under a woody top note, lavender and balsamic herbs emerge. The ripe red cherries, infused with cinnamon and wrapped in supple tannins, show great concentration. A juicy, tangy acidity supports the whole. The supple and refined wood should digest with another year in bottle." Decanter
"Bright and focused, offering cherry, raspberry, rose hip, mushroom, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors. Pure and expressive, with fine harmony, an elegant frame and a lingering aftertaste. Gains support from a firm structure." Wine Spectator
"The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is spicy and intense, exuding a wild blend of sweet herbs, cloves, dried citrus peel and crushed red plums. It is dark, elegant and refined, with polished red and black fruits highlighted by hints of lavender and mint; yet underneath, a web of fine tannins slowly saturates the palate. Hints of cranberry and tangerine mingle with lavender on the long and textured final, and the 2018 ends wonderfully balanced and classic. With more maturity, it could earn an even higher score." Vinous
"Powerful, sparkling ruby with a fine garnet shimmer. Opens on the nose with notes of wild raspberry and black cherry, along with fine spicy components, violets in the background. Substantial and dense in attack and course, shows very great, compact tannin in many layers, full bite in the final, ends on notes of cloves." Falstaff
"Here is a treat from Casanova di Neri. The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is full-bodied and rich with beautiful layers of dark fruits, dried blackberries, spices and smoked tobacco. The sour cherry of this vintage transitions into crushed flowers, balsamic herbs, liquorice and crushed stone. The bouquet is classic, but the magic of Casanova di Neri emerges thanks to the wine's balance and beautiful intensity." Wine Advocate
"Elegant and perfumed nose of dried roses, violets, lemon peel, slate, cherries, anise and truffle. Very fine, tight and precise tannins. Medium to full body. I like the floral and saline undertones. So precise and fresh with a dense finish. Crushed stones on the finish. Try it in 2025, but it is already attractive to taste and drink." James Suckling
"Southeastern area of Montalcino. From an innovative wine project, a refined and taut Brunello, one of the symbols of this typology now. Vertical on the nose, with notes of redcurrant, wild mint and chinotto, with hints of peony and blood orange. Crisp-tight drinkability, with saline tannins. Finishes fruity and citrusy again." Luca Gardini

“Cepparello” Toscana IGT 2019 · METHUSALEM 6 liters in OWC
Cepparello is one of the great single-varietal Sangiovese classics from central Tuscany. Radiant ruby red. Clean, flawless aroma of red fruits, enlivened by fine pepper accents and delicate mineral nuances. Elegance radiates from the relaxed onset, enveloping palate that delivers a perfectly measured acid framework to a well-integrated tannin to finish long and finesse-rich. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling, strong ruby with a light garnet shimmer. The nose is very compact, with dark cherries, lots of blackberries and fine spicy notes. Radiant on the palate, shows lots of ripe red berry fruit, grippy, dense tannin coated with beautiful melting, firm and compact, long final." Falstaff
"Lots of liquorice and fennel seeds with black cherry and a hint of tomato paste. Medium body, round texture and savoury flavours. Nice and fresh on the finish, with subtle flavours." James Suckling
"Fragrant potpourri and medicinal aromas recall the 2006, while the structured palate shows pure, ripe cherry with some damp earth and even an umami hint of mushroom, infused with bright acidity. Vibrant and complex, it's still in its youthful phase but will be great once it's had time to develop." Decanter
"The 2019 Cepparello is very impressive, even though it has just been bottled. Generous and creamy, with its classic medium-bodied structure, the 2019 has so much to offer. Silky tannins wrap around a core of red and purple berry fruit. New leather, spice and a touch of oak meld together effortlessly in the glass. I can't wait to taste it in another 6-12 months or so. The 2019 is shaping up to be an absolute top wine." Vinous
"One of the iconic wines of Tuscany, Isole e Olena 2019 Cepparello is a pure Sangiovese made by the loving hands of a winemaking legend, the great Paolo De Marchi. Indeed, this wine opens a discussion about the future of this famous IGT Toscana, a wine that followed an austere vision and style under De Marchi. It is elegant and rich with delicate aromas of black and purple fruits. It is fermented in oak barrels and aged for 20 months in French barriques, one third of which is in new oak." Wine Advocate
