“Nerobaronj” Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2014 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerobaronj 2014, which is now - in spring 2023 - being offered in small quantities with 5 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
"Perfumed and remarkably pretty, the 2014 NeroBaronj emerges from the glass with a dusty mix of autumnal spices, sweet rose and vibrant, freshly squeezed black cherries. It has a creamy texture with a pleasing inner sweetness, while cool acidity enlivens the crisp wild berries and contrasting sour citrus tones within. A hint of tart concentration lingers at the edge of the palate, while a lingering note of red candy lingers in the middle. This is a highly appealing and potent version of NeroBaronj." Vinous
"Deep, earthy bouquet with lots of ripe black plums, plus fresh dates and figs. Rich and quite tannic, although these two aspects of the wine now harmonise well. Notes of leather and cloves develop with air. Confident, dry finish with a lovely powdery texture." James Suckling

“Neromaccarj” Nero d’Avola Sicilia IGT 2010 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Neromaccarj 2010, which is now - in spring 2023 - offered in small quantities with 9 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
Dark colour, beautiful bouquet of Mediterranean herbs and balsamic notes, ripe, fruity morello cherry and date fruit, rich in silky tannins, that's how it is, the magnificent and expressive Nero d'Avola single-vineyard wine Neromaccarj. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich ruby with bright violet glints. Multi-layered and inviting nose, smells of dried tomatoes, fresh plums and blackberries, also sandalwood and pepper. Lots of juicy, present fruit on the palate, fresh and crisp, then opens with fine-grained tannin, salty and persistent on the final." Falstaff
"Gulfi's wines are characterized by thick concentration, dark extraction and full throttle aromas. The 2010 Neromàccarj shows all of those qualities in ample doses. You really get a sense of the hot Sicilian summer as you contemplate the bouquet. Sweet cherry and ripe blackberry are the dominant aromas. Dig deeper and subtle tones of grilled herb, licorice and crushed mineral also begin to appear. These aromas build in intensity as the wine takes on more air in the glass. The tannins are soft and the finish is long." Wine Advocate

“Neromaccarj” Nero d’Avola Sicilia IGT 2011 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Neromaccarj 2011, which is now - in spring 2023 - offered in small quantities with 8 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
"The 2011 Neromàccarj is the wine that, in my opinion, best encompasses the overall winemaking philosophy at Gulfi. Like the other Nero d'Avola selections presented, this wine boasts a super enriched and concentrated style. On top of black fruit and cherry marmalade, the bouquet offers Teriyaki, barbecue smoke and asphalt-like aromas. Neromàccarj presents a more balanced and complete picture because its large bulk is spread evenly in proportioned elements. In other words, the opulence of the bouquet is perfectly matched to the large footprint left on the finish." Wine Advocate

Vermouth di Torino · in gift box
From the beginning, Pio Cesare produced limited quantities of Barolo Chinato and Vermouth, precisely according to a family recipe handed down by his grandfather. In the early 1950s, however, production was discontinued as tastes and preferences changed.
In recent years, it has been noted that Piedmont lovers are again increasingly craving traditional character, strong personality and great individuality in aromatic wines and in wine-based aperitifs. As a result, the decision was made to produce small quantities of Barolo Chinato and Vermouth again - again strictly according to a secret family recipe that was kept under lock and key for many years under the careful supervision of the grandmother, granddaughter of the founder.
Besides the absinthe, which is essential for making a good vermouth, it is refined with a mixture of 26 aromatic herbs such as marjoram leaves, gentian roots, orange zest and others, which are dosed together strictly according to the traditional family recipe. Various white wines from the winery are added, including Moscato d'Asti. After a 15-day maceration, the resulting vermouth is aged in oak barrels for at least 4 months. The recipe is finally rounded off with the addition of caramelised sugar, which gives this vermouth its light colour and distinctive aroma and flavour. Connoisseurs enjoy it in the old "Piedmontese style": without ice, but only with a small slice of lemon peel. SUPERIORE.DE
"Thanks to its funky retro packaging, this is one of the most exciting projects to come out of downtown Alba in a very long time. The Pio Cesare NV Vermouth di Torino sees a base of Chardonnay enhanced with Moscato. (Like the estate's other fortified wine, the Barolo Chinato, only 1,000 bottles are released per year.) The Vermouth pours forth from the bottle with an orange or copper color. It is thick and viscous, taking its time as it swirls around the bowl of my glass. The bouquet reveals mountain herb and medicinal tones, with lots of mint and spearmint. There is some blood orange, citrus, licorice, camphor ash, vanilla and spice. This Vermouth is all fun and charm." Wine Advocate

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Terre Siciliane IGT 2014 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerosanloré 2014, which is now - in spring 2023 - being offered in small quantities with 5 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
Precise aromas of ripe red cherries, flint, orange peel, lavender and violets. Silky and juicy on the palate, with a refined but very concentrated extract that almost crushes the taste buds, yet remains lively and not at all heavy, giving beautiful definition and lift to the red cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavours. The finish is very deep and long, with very soft tannins, a beguiling perfume and extreme finesse; very Barolo-like. A beautiful, complex wine that shows the elegant side of Nero d'Avola that few producers are ever able to present. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2014 NeroSanloré has a more mature bouquet than the other contradas tasted next to it, yet that's not to say that it’s any less pleasurable. Dark soil tones, tobacco, brown spice, cherry and plum sauce fill the glass with each swirl. It is velvety in feel yet lifted in weight, with tart red berries and saline-minerals that give way to rosy inner florals. A sweet and sour twang keeps the mouth watering through the licorice-tinged finale, as subtle tannins pinch at the cheeks, which keeps me looking back to the glass for more." Vinous
"Complex nose of black plum, bitter chocolate, balsamic vinegar, candied orange and a slew of baking spices. After all this extravagance, you might expect a soft and lush wine, but this full-bodied red has a very solid core of healthy tannin and is decisively dry. Surprisingly crisp finish." James Suckling
"This wine shows medium dark concentration, a distinguishing trait of this vintage. The aromas have embraced elegant tertiary definition with dried fruit, dark plummy flavors, spice, earth and smoky tar. The wine is drinking beautifully right now and gives us valuable and encouraging insight to the aging ability of this popular indigenous grape from Sicily." Wine Advocate

“Nerosanloré" Nero d’Avola Sicilia DOC 2013 (BIO) late release
For some years now, Matteo Catania has been holding back a few hundred bottles of his wines in the best vintages in order to offer them to his most loyal importers after a few years. From this "private reserve" comes Nerosanloré 2013, which is now - in spring 2023 - offered in small quantities with 6 years of further bottle ageing quasi in Riserva quality.
Bright red-ruby. Perfumed aromas of violets, red cherries, raspberries, Mediterranean herbs and thyme. Then dense but juicy, with harmonious acidity that nicely lifts and prolongs the juicy, very pure, overripe red cherry and berry flavours on the long, mineral finish. Despite its maturity, the wine seems supple and is a real beauty! SUPERIORE.DE
"I love the intense herb-liqueur and balsamic-vinegar character on the nose, also because its married to delicious richness. Still very lively for a five-year-old red and the balance of ripeness and rather supple tannins is impressive. Long finish." James Suckling
"The 2013 Sicilia Nerosanloré is a rich and plush red wine with a mid-weight approach backed by lots of rich fiber and fruity thickness. The house style at Gulfi always prizes ripeness and higher-than-average concentration. Blackberry preserves and cherry confit are backed by spice, sweet tobacco and sticky tar. The San Lorenzo vineyard site enjoys the highest altitude of all these cru sites. It is located at 600 meters above sea level and has red sandy soils." Wine Advocate

An exceptionally characterful and powerful Nero d'Avola is the Nerosanloré. From a beautiful vineyard in Pacchino, the area of origin of the famous vine. Mineral, vital, ripe, elegant, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Deep ruby red. Refined, highly complex aromas of blueberries, flint, exotic spices, faded flowers, cumin and cardamom. Bright, juicy and penetrating on the palate, with great mid-palate energy and a brooding quality to the very deep but currently subtle spicy red and blue fruit flavours. It rises impressively on the back palate, which is elegant and perfumed, with soft, fine-grained tannins, a restrained sweetness and a lingering flinty nuance. A remarkably deep, complex NeroSanlorè." VINOUS

An exceptionally characterful and powerful Nero d'Avola is the Nerosanloré. From a beautiful vineyard in Pacchino, the area of origin of the famous vine. Mineral, vital, ripe, elegant, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The bouquet of the 2009 Nerosanlorè exudes sweet aromas of toasted oak and baking spices. This is a very elaborate red wine that shows the craftsmanship and work of the winemaker. The bouquet is complex with aromas of ripe fruit, blackberry compote, tobacco and lots of spices from the long oak ageing. In addition, the wine offers abundant tertiary aromas of liquorice, resin and tar. This is a very attractive red wine that brings all the power and sunshine of Sicily to your glass. At 14.5% alcohol, it has power and determination." Wine Advocate
"Notes of pureed black cherries and dates mingle with dried herbs, mocha and black olive tapenades in this juicy red wine framed by gentle tannins. Harmonious and fresh, with a lingering aniseed-flavoured finish." Wine Spectator
"Beautiful full ruby red. Overripe aromas of black cherries, capers, sun-dried tomatoes and sweet oak lifted by a floral top note. Fat and sweet in the mouth, with a high, liqueur-like quality to the ripe red fruits and salty bottom notes. It finishes with creamy, smooth tannins and excellent length. VINOUS

Silky and juicy with a refined but very concentrated extract that tantalises the taste buds but remains lively and not at all heavy, adding lovely definition and lift to the red cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavours. "Fully saturated ruby. Pure, very deep aromas of black cherry, red plum, medicinal herbs and minerals. Rich, dense and suave, with complex flavors of saline red berries and dark plum complicated by repeating botanical herb and balsamic nuances. Finishes seamless an long. A wine of noteworthy purity, with an excellent balance of sweetness, acidity and tannins. This is Gulfi's closest vineyard to the sea and almost always gives the estate's most elegant, refined wine." An infusion of Chinchona (China Calissaja and Succirubra bark) is macerated for 21 days in a small amount of classic Barolo. A mixture of aromatic herbs such as gentian root, rhubarb, cardamom seeds, sweet and bitter orange, cinnamon and other spices is then added, which together make up the special family recipe. After a few weeks of ageing, a certain amount of classic Barolo is then added. SUPERIORE.DE
"Only 1,000 bottles per year are released of the Pio Cesare NV Barolo Chinato, a fortified digestif that pours from the bottle with a dark garnet color and faint hints of copper and amber. This bottle takes you on a terrific journey into a favorite local tradition. Made with a base of Barolo wine, the nose offers layers of dried cherry and fruit, but perhaps the biggest aromatic influence here are those dusty mineral notes that subtract from the natural sweetness of the wine. That 16% alcohol content also serves to align your palate away from the fruit. Instead, you get medical herb, dried ginger and camphor ash." Wine Advocate

“Didacus” Cabernet Franc Sicilia Menfi DOC 2018
This 100% Cabernet Franc comes from vines over 20 years old, still planted by Diego Planeta, and it is simply stunning, delicious and unforgettable. Superb aromas of sensual dark fruits, some leather and tobacco. Explosive, penetrating and powerful on the palate, but at the same time seamless and silky smooth. The tannin management is excellent. This is a wine to keep in the cellar - assuming some self-control. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Cabernet Franc Didacus is deeply alluring, with a peppery flourish of spice and florals that gives way to steeped plums and clove. This is silky-smooth and more lifted and elegant than previous vintages, with tart raspberry and sour cherry offset by inner earth tones and hints of citrus. The 2018 is potent and staining, yet its tannins are chalky and sweet, creating a structured yet welcoming finale. This is an incredibly pretty and deeply satisfying rendition of Didacus Cabernet Franc." Vinous
"Dark ruby with purple. In the nose meek and inviting, of cassis, elderberries, cold smoke, noble wood, stony tones in the reverberation. Tightly meshed on the palate, polished, with clearly brought out fruit, comes in many layers, final on black berries, with rich pressure in the finish, outstanding." Falstaff

“Didacus” Cabernet Franc Sicilia Menfi DOC 2017
The second vintage of the red counterpart to the Didacus Chardonnay impressively reflects the vision of the Planeta family: elegance and tradition, family and future. This 100% Cabernet Franc comes from vines over 20 years old that were still planted by Diego Planeta, and it is simply stunning, delicious and unforgettable.
"The 2017 Cabernet Franc Didacus is dark, deep and intense, with arching blue florals giving way to masses of currants, plums and licorice. It’s silky with a dense wave of mineral-tinged black fruits carried across a core of motivating acidity that lifts the expression nicely. This leaves tart wild berries, along with hints of mocha over a coating of sweet tannins, coming across as structured yet also remarkably fresh. The heat of the vintage has pushed the volume up on the 2017 Cabernet Franc Didacus and while more-classic vintages will likely outpace it in the cellar over time, the balance here is beautiful." “Didacus” Chardonnay Sicilia Menfi DOC 2020
Didacus Chardonnay comes from the first vines planted on the shores of Lake Ulm in 1985. It is dedicated to the founder of the winery, Diego Planeta, and on the one hand represents the history of the winery, on the other hand it stands for elegance, tradition, family and future. At the same time, it embodies Planeta's vision of Sicilian viticulture at the highest level.
This immensely complex white comes from the best grapes of just 4 hectares of Chardonnay sites, all hand-selected, pressed and fermented in barriques. With just 6,996 bottles, this drop is hand-picked and distributed to the best importers and restaurants worldwide. Straw yellow with golden reflections. Fine fragrance of herbs, white stone fruit, lychee and a hint of vanilla. Very complexly built, needs further bottle ageing until it unfolds all its elegance and minerality in a terrific long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"An ambitious project that explores the expressive possibilities of Chardonnay on Sicilian soil. Aged for 10 months in oak barrels, it smells of elderflower, lemon thyme, nectarine and lychee. On the palate, it's spicy-iodic, with an acidic, fruity finish and long reverberation." Luca Gardini
"The 2020 Chardonnay Didacus opens with an opulent bouquet that traverses tropical mango and lime offset by chalk dust and ground ginger. A perfectly integrated whiff of vanillin oak frames the experience perfectly. This is pure elegance, round and soothing, with exotic spice and almond custard contrasting tart orchard fruits as citrus-tinged acidity maintains a lovely inner freshness. This leaves the palate wonderfully refreshed yet lingers impossibly long with a mineral tinge and young peach notes. The Didacus is a unique Chardonnay with a character I believe only Sicily can produce. What a gorgeous wine, yet it's begging for some cellaring to bring its oak into balance fully." Vinous

Marsala Superiore Riserva DOC 1985 ambra semi secco · 0,75l in OWC
Aged in the cellars for over 25 years, this magnificent amber-style Riserva pours from the bottle with amber intensity. This rare Marsala offers tremendous intensity with a bouquet strong with maple syrup, roasted chestnuts, brown sugar, caramel, dried figs, porcini mushrooms and spicy tobacco. In the mouth, you can feel the alcohol content, but this warmth is wonderfully absorbed by the fleshy intensity and richness of the texture. This wine is a quarter of a century old, but thanks to all the ageless fruit, it hides its age very well. This is a rather atypical "wine", but one that offers a terrific insight into one of Sicily's most important wine traditions. SUPERIORE.DE

"A", as it is called in the winery, represents the qualitative peak of Schiopetto. A perfect synthesis between the expressiveness of Chardonnay and the aromatic complexity of Friulano, this white wine shows the quintessence and full personality of the Friulian territory and is dedicated to Mario Schiopetto. "This is a very serious chardonnay with subtle aromas of apple pie, flint and lemon curd. Holding back, but enticing you with every scent. Full-bodied with density and energy and lots of flavors, yet it’s dry and racy at the end." James Suckling

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Troy” Chardonnay Riserva Alto Adige DOC 2018
Troy is not a normal Chardonnay. Rather, it is the archetype of a Chardonnay, as Wolfgang Klotz, managing director of probably the most successful winegrowers' cooperative in South Tyrol, sees it. The grapes come from two selected vineyards in Söll, near Tramin. Not only does a Mediterranean climate prevail there, but also quite cold fall winds at night determine the vegetation. Both factors ensure optimal development of the plants and fruits. The berries are handpicked piece by piece and it is therefore clear to every wine connoisseur that this is an absolutely prestigious project of the cooperative. It is therefore not surprising that only 3,000 bottles of this vintage are sold in selected specialist shops and top restaurants.
Intense straw to golden yellow. Tropical fruit on the nose, a hint of camomile and mint, then fine toasted notes and a subtle nutty touch. On the palate, you can almost taste the proximity of the mountains, its clarity, freshness and intensity: exotic notes of yellow ripe fruit, then again some nuttiness and in addition again a beguiling liveliness and minerality, which ends in an equally long final. Chardonnay can be like this, chapeau! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright straw yellow with a slight light gold. In the nose of ripe golden apple, banana, mango, light candle wax, pineapple, a hint of white chocolate in the aftertaste. Juicy, clear and radiant on the palate, opens with elegant melting and light cream, creamy course, stretches out in many layers, coherent in itself, long and deep." Falstaff
"Already in the bouquet, a beautiful smokiness as well as a dense, powerful yellow-fruity style is apparent, which almost reminds a little of Corton Charlemagne because of the mineral-spicy pithiness. In the mouth, a beautiful liaison of creamy yellow fruit and mineral-smoky notes, powerfully interwoven, yet showing a lot of tension with cool notes." Weinwisser
"The nose is already subtle and delicate, with floral notes, mirabelle plums, citrus fruits, white pepper, nettle and a hint of smoke and vanilla. Also almost delicately built on the palate and carried by a precise, very fresh acidity. An all-round harmonious cru." Vinum
"Cedar and butterscotch nose. Bitter apple, roast-potato skin, chicory leaf and kohlrabi rubbed with sweet lemon. Dried oregano. Herb-nutty-savoury, as if the fruit had been sprinkled with za'atar. Lots here already, but I think this wine has a lot more to give, given time." Jancis Robinson
"Ripe orchard fruit, apricot and oaky nose. Lovely freshness on the palate with creamy buttery notes and some wood spice. Long finish." Decanter
"At once very fresh - Amalfi lemon! - and very toasty in the nose, this is an immediately appealing chardonnay with quite some depth. Really attractive interplay of northern freshness with Mediterranean ripeness. Buttery and refreshing finish that pulls you back for more." James Suckling

Troy is not a normal Chardonnay. Rather, it is the archetype of a Chardonnay, as Wolfgang Klotz, managing director of probably the most successful winegrowers' cooperative in South Tyrol, sees it. "Very typical, smoky underpinned Chardonnay fragrance with yellow stone fruit, peach, delicate exoticism with pineapple and mango, supported by a smoky-nutty backdrop in which roasted hazelnuts and fine caramel bring Burgundy to mind again. Dense and full-bodied in the mouth with a creamy texture reminiscent of salty butter, wonderfully contrasted by the spicy-salty freshness that increasingly sets the tone." Weinwisser
"The 2019 Chardonnay Riserva Troy rises from the glass with enriching notes of hazelnut and custard before giving way to white flowers and hints of opal apple. This wine is elegant from start to finish, with ripe orchard fruits and sweet spices perfectly contrasted by salty minerality. The Troy is long and lightly textured, leaving an aftertaste of raw almonds and candied limes. Although a little hedonistic on the nose, the balance of this wine is a feast for the eyes. Cellaring should help integrate some of the 2019 oak flavours." Vinous
"One of the winery's top wines, the Cantina Tramin 2019 Alto Adige Chardonnay Riserva Troy opens a little slowly. It has had a long maturation process: 11 months in barrique and 22 months in stainless steel. With a little coaxing, this alpine white wine finally blossoms, showing orchard fruit, pie crust and baked apple." Wine Advocate
"Peach, pie crust, pineapple and mango crumble on the nose with hazelnuts and salted caramel. Full-bodied with a lovely buttery texture. Long and lush, yet with lemony freshness and saline undertones." James Suckling
"Brilliant yellow apples and lemon zest with a lurking wealth of toasted vanilla and lush, chalky minerality keeping the structure in check. Long and impressive." Decanter
"Intense bright straw yellow with green nuances. Opens with fresh notes of mint, then lots of clear fruit, pineapple and mango, some beeswax, very inviting. Extremely juicy and present on the palate, shows lots of tropical fruit, very appealing, well-integrated acidity gives tension, long finish." Falstaff
"One of the "untouchable" products from the Termeno winery's research. A lively Chardonnay, with a faceted nose, yellow plum, then rosemary, lemongrass and ginger. Notes of white pepper on the finish. The palate is tasty, with officinal fruity return and spicy memories." Luca Gardini

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“TAL 1930” Cuvée Bianco (Riserva) Alto Adige DOC 2020 · 0,75l in OWC
TAL 1930 recalls the beginnings of the Santa Maddalena winery in 1930: a year of particular significance for the history of viticulture in South Tyrol and for the Bolzano winery. The contrast between mountain and valley - Alpine and Mediterranean - defines the character of this exceptional cuvée. The vineyards for the white varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio lie between the valley floor and the sometimes gentle, sometimes steep slopes of the famous Renon near Bolzano. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 400 to 700 metres and vary greatly in location and temperature due to the sun from the Dolomites and the sometimes strong winds of the Isarco Valley.
Grapes from the best terroirs and vines that are 30 years old and older are rigorously selected and the knowledge of the climate and microclimate, which is the result of many years of experience, ultimately determines this powerful yet elegant cuvée. TAL 1930 is aged for 12 months in small oak barrels and then matures for 14 months in stainless steel tanks before resting in the bottle on its way to perfection. 1,888 numbered bottles were bottled.
Pale straw yellow with golden reflections, cool and seductive. Intense yet elegant notes of exotic fruits such as mango, pineapple and melon on the nose, combined with fresh hints of grapefruit and lime. Flavours of apple, pear and lychee are accompanied by hints of elderflower, jasmine and a feather-light, caramelly sweetness. A stimulating and very supple freshness on the palate, plus an almost exuberant generosity. Every sip is invigorating and persistent, with a mineral finesse and wonderful length: a South Tyrolean white wine monument! SUPERIORE.DE
"Ripe yellow and tropical fruits dominate the aroma: guava, ripe pineapple and a touch of pear alternate with mineral notes from the porphyry soil. In the mouth, it is powerful with a lot of melting and a good density, the rich fruit body is framed by a creamy texture. The spicy, savoury notes, the delicate acidity and the mineral piquancy create an important chord here, giving the wine a balanced freshness and spiciness." Weinwisser

Deep orange with amber reflections. Seductive, initially slightly reductive, oxidative, sweet bouquet of dried orange, peach and sweet spices. The palate has an impressively silky texture with lush fruit, honey notes, hints of baked apple and vanilla. It is taut, stable and could be mistaken for a red wine when tasted blind. Be sure to decant it and save some for the next day! SUPERIORE.DE
"Pale golden amber. Seductive and deep, yet cool. Acacia honey with dried–apricot and chamomile hints and a layer of crushed wet stones and lapsang oolong. On the palate, a richer impression with enormous depth, yet contained, and with fantastic, tactile acidity that seamlessly ties in the fruit. Very fine tannic tail on the finish." Jancis Robinson
"This is a brightly golden, burnished brass hue, with a fragrant supernova of heather, milled white pepper, fennel seed and crushed pine aromatics exploding from the glass. It's firm and chalky in texture on the palate, layering sleek acidity with flavors of dried raspberry and white cherry, iodine, almond skin, chopped rosemary and iron that slowly expand through the long, concentrated finish. Distinctive, this is a gorgeous example of skin contact wine." Wine Spectator

Limitation of 3 articles per customer“Colonia” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018
When you hear the story of the effort that went into the Colonia vineyard, you have to wonder if the fine people of Fèlsina are absolutely crazy. It took them two years to remove the imposing rock that had forced previous generations of the Poggiali family to virtually abandon this noble site. But it is thanks to the ambitious Giovanni Poggiali that this spectacular vineyard (Vigneto Colonia) became what it is today. It has reddish-brown soils, is rich in magnesium and iron, and is thus quite different from all other Fèlsina sites.
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is a wine of enormous beauty and depth. Dark ruby in the glass, it smells expressively mineral and pure, with aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant. Mineral and graphite aromas and the simply terrific focus on the Sangiovese grape make it an incomparable masterpiece. On the palate, it is extremely well-balanced and elegant with optimally integrated wood - it is immediately clear that another top wine of the house has been created that is more than a match for the Fontalloro. Fortunately for those who can taste it, there are only 3,000 bottles per vintage. SUPERIORE.DE
"Superb bouquet with notes of raspberries, rose hips, also sandalwood; juicy on the palate, with powdery tannin, perfectly integrated acidity, shows depth and style into the jam finish. Great wine that can age for some more time." Vinum
"Sparkling, rich ruby red. Very intense and clearly marked nose, full of wild raspberries and blackberries, behind it cardamom, exciting. Substantial and dense in attack and course, opens up in lots of pithy tannin, rich, dark berry fruit, in the final emphatically earthy notes, after red beet and cocoa." Falstaff
"Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Gorgeous nose of sour cherry and blackberry with blood-orange hints and notes of new oak all perfectly tied together. Focused and a little vibrant on the palate, elegant and succulent with long, coating tannins. Transparent finish." Jancis Robinson
"Sweet berries and dried flowers on the nose with sage and lavender. Medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins, yet these are polished and intense. Very structured and solid. Needs cellar time. Try after 2023." James Suckling
"I prefer this wine to Fèlsina's top-shelf Fontalloro. The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is irresistibly angular and tight, opening a profound view onto what makes Sangiovese so expressive and unique, especially when planted in the right territories. The bouquet is savory and almost sanguine with iron ore, rusty nail and baked clay. But there's plenty of fruit as well, in the form of wild berry and black cherry, that adds to the dimension and dynamic freshness of the mouthfeel. Give this wine time to soften in the bottle." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is fascinating to taste next to the Rancia, as the two parcels are adjacent. Rich and substantial in the glass, Colonia is textured and ample, qualities that become increasingly apparent over time. Rugged, rocky terrain seems to amplify power, explosive verticality and acidity." Vinous

“Selezione Jacopo” Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2020
Alessandro Mori's Wines has made Il Marroneto one of Montalcino's best wineries in just a few years. Today he runs the company together with his son Jacopo. The wines reflect their passionate, simple and outspoken character, which at first sight seems reserved and austere, but slowly opens up to reveal a harmonious synthesis of elegance and power. In 2019, he has decided to produce a selection from some of his best grapes - named after his son Jacopo - and in such a small edition that we are the only ones in the German market to be allocated a few cases. SUPERIORE.DE
"Rich, bright ruby red. In the nose juicy blackberries, blood orange, some bitter almond, in the aftertaste kitchen herbs. With great juiciness on the palate, dense, clear fruit, embedded in hearty tannin, radiant, beautiful length." Falstaff
"Attractive aromas of cherries, rosemary, sage, cocoa and light spices. Medium body with a silky texture. Refined and polished with a crisp red fruit character and a long finish with spicy notes." James Suckling
"The Il Marroneto 2020 Rosso di Montalcino Iacopo opens with a darker garnet colour and richer saturation compared to the Ignaccio. The added fruit weight carries over to aromas of plums and black cherries. The freshness of the fruit is intact, and this wine is very bright and energetic in terms of mouthfeel." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino Selezione Iacopo is a dusty and perfumed beauty in the glass. It exudes notes of dried strawberries, plums, stone dust and a hint of sweet spice. On the palate, it unfolds with grace, carried by brilliant acidity and a balanced inner sweetness that turns into a salty minerality towards the end. The 2020 finishes persistently, with a fine web of tannins that underlines things perfectly. With a few years of cellaring, this will be a gorgeous Rosso with a wide and open drinking window. Only 3,000 bottles were produced." Vinous
