Eagerly awaited: Now the first 40+ Brunello di Montalcino of the classic 2018 vintage have arrived in our climate-controlled warehouse.
We have collected numerous opinions on the 2018 vintage for you, here is a small sample from Antonio Galloni (Vinous):
"In Montalcino, the 2018 vintage is one of the most unique and idiosyncratic vintages in living memory, but this is not to say that the wines are not good. They are fruit-driven and open-knit Brunello interpretations. At the top, the 2018 wines offer a level of depth that supports very good cellaring, while at the base they are more supple and already very approachable. The warmth this year was balanced, especially compared to current trends, making it more of a cool vintage by today's standards. 2018 is a producer's vintage where diligence in the vineyard and rigorous selection paid off. Interestingly, many winemakers report that they will not be making a Riserva in 2018, which has helped to strengthen the other wines in their portfolios." Vinous
You will find our own vintage rating and further assessments by Jancis Robinson and James Suckling on our site, as well as of course the freshly arrived and already great rated wines from currently 21 winemakers (more will follow in the next months). We wish you much pleasure in discovering them and maximum enjoyment.
