For a long time the Capo di Stato (head of state) was regarded as one of the best Italian wines. Inspired by the former fame of this noble pot, the textile industrialist family Palla has set itself the ambitious goal of giving the winery Conte Loredan Gasparini, situated between the Trevisan foothills of the Alps and the Po Valley, a new glory. The wines from Venegazzù, located near the municipality of Volpago del Montello, are already among the classics of the Italian wine landscape, despite their relatively young history.
The history of the winery goes back to Piero Loredan Gasparini, a direct descendant of Leonardo Loredan, the Venetian Doge of Venice. The progenitor of the winery wanted to make a powerful red wine based on the classic Bordeaux model as early as the early 1950s. Today Lorenzo Palla runs the family business with a high level of professional competence, which was acquired by his father Giancarlo in 1973 and has been highly regarded again for a long time after a long period of calm. Over the years, the estate manager has extended the winery to an area of around one hundred hectares. Four fifths of the area are used as vineyards.
On the Montello hill, with the Venice lagoon in the background, wine has always been cultivated. However, only very few farms in this part of the world recognised the extraordinary potential for vine cultivation. The favourable location with ferruginous soils gives the wines of the Azienda Agricola Conte Loredan Gasparini an exceptional personality. International varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot and Malbec grow and thrive above all around the very beautiful, majestic Tenuta di Venegazzù, the birthplace of the winery, which has around 40 hectares of vineyards.
The great success of the wine house is to be sought above all in excellent Bordeaux blends, which are already for many decades a characteristic for the wine production of the province Treviso. Lorenzo Palla gradually replanted the vineyards around the picturesque vineyard. He only rejuvenated the vines very carefully in order not to have to accept any loss of quality with the pressed drops. Many small barrels in the cellar have long since been replaced with larger wood. SUPERIORE.DE
