"La Grola" Rosso Veronese IGT 2015 <br>Artist Label "Leonardo Ulian" in Metal Tube

La Grola is the historic vineyard that gave its name to Corvina, the autochthonous grape of Valpolicella, which is probably its origin. The replanting of the vineyard by Giovanni Allegrini sparked an agronomic revolution and laid the foundations for the success of this wine-growing area, which today is home to great red wines from north-eastern Italy.

So it is not surprising that La Grola receives a special honour from its magnificent location. Since 2010, Allegrini has been collaborating with internationally renowned artists, publishing year after year a unique, limited artist edition. The edition opened with a work by Milo Manara, continued in 2011 with a label designed by Arthur Duff and continued in 2012 with a painting by Athos Faccincani. The composition VI by Wassily Kandinsky was selected for La Grola in 2013, while the artistic journey to Brazil and Nazareno Rodrigues Alves took place in 2014.

For the 2015 vintage, Allegrini collaborated with Italian artist Leonardo Ulian, who, inspired by James Frazer's "The Golden Bough", created the link between the literary work and wine. The work represents impressively how interwoven the narratives are with the emergence of the wine and the vine rows in the vineyard.

We are pleased to be able to offer you some copies of the special edition, which is strictly limited every year!

Dense, dark ruby red, in the nose very full-bodied and strong with tones of forest and overripe berries. The rich fullness from coffee to black cherries is accompanied by present, pleasant tannins. SUPERIORE.DE

"Elegant and harmonious, this medium-bodied red offers fine, creamy tannins and fragrant hints of spice and leather lacing the baked black cherry, date, dried thyme and mineral notes. Long and supple on the finish." Wine Spectator

"A blend of 90% Corvina Veronese and 10% Oseleta, this alluring red opens with aromas of wild berry, tobacco and a whiff of coffee bean. It's elegant and full bodied, offering ripe plum, black cherry, star anise and ground pepper alongside taut fine-grained tannins." Wine Enthusiast

"The 2015 La Grola is a terrific wine, both food friendly and accessible. The blend is 90% Corvina with 10% Oseleta, which adds color and richness to the overall wine, thanks to the grape's small and compact berry size. You get terrific value here in a wine that has the aromatic intensity and textural fiber to stand up to barbecued meats or tri-tip. The fact that the wine's tannins are slightly more contained and soft means La Grola would beautifully match those spicy and smoky flavors." Robert Parker

"Brambleberries, underbrush, bracken, cedar and loads of dark cherries and plums. Full body, fresh acidity and a tangy, medium-long finish. A very well poised red that’s beautiful to drink now, but should improve within a couple of years." James Suckling
