Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2018 (BIO)
Discreet ruby red with light reflections. Warm, well-dosed bouquet of wild berries, cherries and some smoke. On the palate, fine-meshed tannin, plus lots of juice and fruit, floral and spicy notes, compact. A fine salty vein in the harmonious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red. In the nose first after red beet and slightly earthy nuances, then after rich cherries and ripe raspberries, slightly resinous, fine spice. Compact and present on the palate, opens with a juicy core and tight tannin, shows fine wood spice, with persistence." Falstaff
"Juicy and elegant, this offers bright red cherry, dried thyme, wild rose and orange peel. Finessed, clinging tannins are decidedly chalky in texture. Mid-weight and mouth cleansing, it finishes with an almost grapefruit tang. Winemaker Giuseppe Rigoli says that even ripening allowed the estate to pick Sangiovese at full phenolic ripeness in the first week of October. Though Merlot only ever makes up a small percentage of the blend, there is even less than usual as the vines were hit with downy mildew." Decanter
"Camphor, forest berry and rosemary aromas shape the enticing nose on this fragrant red. Elegantly structured, the lithe palate offers sour cherry, orange zest and star anise alongside fine-grained tannins and bright acidity." Wine Enthusiast

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG 2017
Intense ruby red Vino Nobile Riserva with a spicy bouquet of aromas of dried fruits, cinnamon, cloves and liquorice. Smooth on the palate with diverse nuances, beautiful fullness, structure and intensity, supple tannins. Very elegant pleasure at an excellent price. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, noble ruby red. The nose is appealing, fragrant, with ripe raspberries underpinned by a hint of peppermint, a pinch of lovage and light leather in the aftertaste. Firm and sturdy on the palate, with a red berry core and tight tannin, it pulls finely across the tongue, very classic, with a considerably juicy finish." Falstaff
"Rather than hailing from a single vineyard, Gracciano delle Seta’s Riserva is a harvest selection. In 2017, the grapes were picked about a week earlier than usual. Initial aromas of prune cake and sweet spice speak to the warmth of the vintage, freshening up as fennel and lavender take hold. The fruit is plush but not heavy, and elevated by an underlying juiciness. Soft tannins give a gentle grip on the finish." Decanter
"Aromas of red berry, rose and camphor slowly expand in the glass to include accents of dark spice. Supremely elegant, the lithe, savory palate features juicy black cherry, raspberry compote and licorice before closing on a ground cinnamon note. Taut, fine-grained tannins provide polished support." The exclusivity of the wines of the Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta is documented until the middle of the 19th century. Thus, in 1864 the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano of the winery won the main prize of the International Wine Festival of Turin. A small number of very old bottles from the company known at that time as Cantine Svetoni, founded by the Seta Ferrari Corbelli family in the heart of the Sienese region at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level, are still in the winery today. The wine house with the resounding name, which is surrounded by a magnificent Italian garden built around 1800, quickly succeeded in establishing itself nationwide as a top producer. By the way, the estate was once the centre of a 600-hectare estate employing hundreds of workers. The foundation stone for today's winery was laid in 1960 by Piera della Mazzucchelli della Seta Ferrari Corbelli Greco.
Today, wine lovers from all over the world benefit from the grape yields of the 70 hectare estate, which have now been significantly reduced to 30 to 35 hectolitres per hectare. The reduction in yield allows a loving production and gives the wines a concentrated taste. In addition to two classic Vino Nobile, the winery with a deep garnet red Rosso di Montepulciano has another impressive distinguished „little brother“ in a very manageable assortment. Beppe Rigoli is available as a consultant in the cellar. In his Fattoria Ambra, the oenologist produces a number of wines from different vineyards, where he expresses the elegance of Carmignano with great ability, sympathy and modesty. The plants of the Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta move between elegance and power. They mature in new French and Slavic oak barrels as well as in French tonneaux.
The Gracciano hills, on which the berries of the Tuscan producer grow on about 18 hectares, contain limestone and clay. Hot summers and mild winters in Montepulciano are good conditions for viticulture. In the Tenuta di Gracciano a Sangiovese clone is cultivated with the dominant grape variety Prugnolo Gentile as well as some Canaiolo, Mammolo and Merlot (for the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano). The style of the Sangiovese grapes, cultivated by Piera's granddaughter Vannozza, lies between that of classic Chianti and that of Brunello di Montalcino. In recent years the winery has undergone a major renewal programme. Many old vines have been replaced by optimized new Prugnolo Gentile vines. Also the cellar changed fundamentally and corresponds today to very modern standards. SUPERIORE.DE
