“Poderuccio” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 (BIO)
Intense and pure fruit bouquet. Lively on the palate with beautiful fruit components and hints of its origins in clay and limestone soils. Well-knit tannins lead this refined cuvée into a soft and quite respectable finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lots of blackberries and tar, together with black-olive character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied and structured. A little raw, but should come around nicely with bottle age." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016
Camigliano's Brunello di Montalcino 2016 shows impressive balance and integrity. It contrasts the delicate sweetness of the fruit beautifully with the ethereal and liquorice aromas that just automatically come with Sangiovese when grown on the south side of the spectacular Montalcino appellation. On the palate, it convinces with its balanced intensity and perfectly integrated tannins. In the harmonious, soft finish, playful notes of warm cherry sweetness surprise the palate, representing the footprint of the Camigliano wine identity, complemented by a fine mineral vein. This is a highly respectable wine from Camigliano from a wonderful vintage in which the winery can fully play to nature's strengths. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a sparkling core. In the nose of fresh raspberry, wild strawberries, a hint of orange blossom, in the reverberation of strawberry jam. Slightly salty on the palate, stretches out elegantly, with good drinking flow, slightly malty in the finish." Falstaff
"Licorice, eucalyptus, moist underbrush and crushed mint aromas take center stage along with whiffs of toasted walnut. The licorice note follows through to the solid palate along with dried cherry, roasted mushroom and coffee bean before finishing on a saline note." Wine Enthusiast
"Black currant, raspberry and boysenberry flavors are shaded by woodsy, wild herb, menthol and graphite notes in this distinctive red. Expressive, if not the harmony of its peers, shows some fierce tannins flexing their muscles on the chewy, astringent finish." Wine Spectator
"The Camigliano 2016 Brunello di Montalcino offers a more robust bouquet compared to its peers, with its dark and saturated fruit. One thing Camigliano has going for it is that it always delivers the characteristics of its environment. In this case, the vines are located in a warm, sun-drenched corner of Tuscany, and the warm ripeness of the fruit is a testament of place. You also get aromas of scorched earth, grilled porcino mushroom and a touch of burnt rubber or summer asphalt." Robert Parker

Brunello di Montalcino “Paesaggio Inatteso” DOCG 2016
The Paesaggio Inatteso selection comes from Camigliano's 3.5 hectare vineyard "La Magia", which has mineral and calcareous soils. Bright ruby red. Cherry, raspberry, spice and tobacco aromas on the nose, taut, precise and full of personality on the palate. The tannins are soft and well integrated, making it an opulent, powerful and long-lasting pleasure even when young. SUPERIORE.DE
"Dark ruby red. In the nose a slight hint of strawberry, then of ripe cherries and wild berries, shows nuances of pomegranate and dried rose petal. Juicy and clear on the palate, stretches out in many layers, beautiful red fruit, with persistence." Falstaff
"Plum and black cherry aromas and flavors highlight this dense, muscular red, accented by wild herb, iron and sanguine notes. Staying vibrant and long, this is balanced, with the quality of tannins in line with the southwestern sector of Montalcino." Wine Spectator
"The Camigliano 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Paesaggio Inatteso is a tiny production of just 2,600 bottles, all drawn from a two-hectare site with sandy limestone, located apart from the estate's core vineyard block, which the Ghezzi family holds in special regard. Indeed, the character of this wine is quite different from the classic 2016 Brunello. I don't get those heavier aromas of asphalt or charred earth here. This wine is much softer in approach with delicate and pure fruit. Cherry, plum and dried raspberry cede to light spice and tobacco. Paesaggio Inatteso means "unexpected landscape" in Italian, and this wine does stand apart from the others in the Camigliano portfolio." Robert Parker
"Aromas of forest floor, eucalyptus, violet and coffee bean take shape in the glass. Full bodied and savory, the firm palate doles out mouthfuls of ripe black cherry, mature plum, licorice and baking spice alongside enveloping, fine-grained tannins, a great showing." Wine Enthusiast
"A rich, decadent red with black-cherry and flower aromas, as well as citrus and crushed stone. Some wet bark, too. It's full-bodied, yet reserved and toned with nicely crafted tannins that melt into the wine. Vivid acidity. A poised, polished red." James Suckling

Brunello di Montalcino “Paesaggio Inatteso” DOCG 2015
The Paesaggio Inatteso selection comes from Camigliano's 3.5-hectare vineyard "La Magia", which has mineral and calcareous soils. The 2015 edition presents itself more robust and intense than the classic Annata of the house. Bright ruby red. In the nose cherry, raspberry, spice and tobacco aromas, on the palate taut, precise and full of personality. The tannins are soft and well integrated, making it an opulent, powerful and long-lasting pleasure even when young. SUPERIORE.DE
"Aromas of crisp wild berries and violets, underscored by balsamic notes; precise texture with cut and length. Classically noble Sangiovese." Vinum
"Elegant, brilliant ruby garnet. Very fresh and fruity nose, of juicy, freshly plucked cherries, some raspberry and pomegranate. Round and smooth in the base and flow, shows also in the mouth a lot of present berry fruit, polished tannin." Falstaff
"Good dark red. Perfumed red cherry, raspberry and mint on the nose, plus hints of potpourri. Clean flavors of red fruits and spices show a restrained sweetness and a creamy mouthfeel on the long back end. Offers greater delineation and increasing pliancy with air." Vinous
"Enticing flavors of black cherry, plum, iron, leather, earth and tobacco mark this red. Dense tannins and bright acidity lay down structural support. Tips toward the dry side in the balance despite the persistent finish." Wine Spectator
"The purity and focus to this young Brunello is certainly impressive with crushed berries and flowers, as well as burnt orange peel on the nose. Full body. Firm and silky tannins with an intense backbone and focus. A seriously structured and balanced red. Drink after 2022." James Suckling
"This wine sees fruit from a three-hectare site (at 300 meters above sea level) with loamy sand soils. This is a very special wine with a unique set of aromas. It shows pronounced Mediterranean accents of rosemary, lavender and dried basil leaf. The wine's fruit profile is also front and center with wild berry and dried cassis. The mouthfeel is silky, lean and topped off by well integrated tannins." Robert Parker

Brunello di Montalcino “Gualto” Riserva DOCG 2015
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto is a dark, saturated and compact wine that shows a very unique interpretation of the Sangiovese grape. Camigliano has one of the best microclimates for a dark, velvety and opulent Brunello, which does very well in a highly balanced vintage like 2015. The plump fruit contrasts nicely with the firm tannins and acidity in the mouthfeel. All in all, this is a balanced wine with softness and extra richness. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright elegant ruby red. In the nose of ripe raspberries and wild strawberries, also shows nuances of pomegranate, light spice in the aftertaste. Opens smoothly on the palate with a fruity-sweet core, juicy, runs clear and round into the long final." Falstaff
"Offering ripeness and texture, the Camigliano 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gualto is a fun and accessible wine. The bouquet is very expressive, even at this young stage. I got a charge out of those shifting aromas of dark fruit, ripe cherry, rosemary essence and a touch of eucalyptus oil that lift from the bouquet. Those balsam herb aromas are well defined, and they always appear with the prettiest intensity in the warmer vintages like 2015. Riserva Gualto shows good structure and enough acidity to keep those fruit flavors fresh and bright. Only 4,000 bottles were made." Robert Parker
"Sleek and linear in profile, this red offers intense strawberry, raspberry, rose and wild herb flavors, with flourishes of mineral and tobacco. Solidly built, this leaves a long, resonant aftertaste of fruit, mineral and spice notes. Distinctive for its bright red fruit flavors." Wine Spectator

For more than five decades the Camigliano winery has been producing excellent quality wines under the leadership of the Ghezzi family. This is no surprise, as the Milanese founder Walter Ghezzi has always had a passion for agriculture. In the meantime, his son Gualtiero and his wife Laura have helped the winery, located in the south-west of the hamlet of Camigliano near Montalcino, to flourish again with great personal commitment and considerable investment. Both also revived the historical settlement and thus ensured its continued existence.
The Ghezzi family has built a new spacious underground cellar, which blends unobtrusively into the beautiful landscape around Montalcino and, thanks to modern technology, makes work much easier. The classic wines are mostly matured in barrels with volumes of 50 and 60 hectolitres. The Brunello holdings - which occupy about 50 hectares of the total 90 hectares of Sangiovese Grosso vineyards - were renewed after the turn of the millennium, which has considerably improved the quality of the wines. The owners prefer a high stock density per hectare. A cloning and mass selection from old vineyards should give the wines produced at the estate a further boost in quality. The noble plants of Camigliano thrive on clay and silt soils, which contain a fairly high proportion of marl and fossil layers. The yields are deliberately kept low, at less than 40 hectolitres per hectare. Since 2017 all vineyards and also the olive groves are certified organic.
The Brunello di Montalcino and the Brunello Riserva "Gualto", along with a number of other grape juices, have been repeatedly awarded high prizes by wine critics. On the estate, which has its own agriturismo, there are also 25 hectares of olive groves. The fruits are used to produce the high-quality Extra Vergine, which is now also certified organic and of which there is unfortunately far too little every year. SUPERIORE.DE
