• "Redigaffi" Rosso Toscana IGT 2018
3 Bottles in OWC

“Redigaffi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Rare exceptional Merlot from the west of Tuscany: Deep ruby red with violet reflections. On the nose it is multi-layered with hints of wild and blackberry, ripe cherries, but also liquorice and tobacco notes. Very structured and lively on the palate. The silky tannins underline the filigree minerality up to the almost endless aftertaste. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark shining garnet. Opens the nose with notes of dark berries, delicate tobacco spice, light leather, black currants, precise and concentrated, underlined by fine barrel spice, noble. On the palate polished and salty, spreads a wide fan, clear, precise dark berry fruit, full of tension, still young, will level out excellently." Falstaff

"Born from the estate's oldest Merlot vines, the Tua Rita 2018 Redigaffi is a phenomenal achievement. Thanks to the long growing season that allowed the grapes ample time to ripen, this edition shows impressive depth and intensity of flavors. Black cherry, plum and sweet baking and barbecue spice are dosed carefully, but generously. The main attraction here is the mouthfeel, which achieves richness, plush softness and concentration in a most natural and convincing manner. The wine is absolutely seamless from start to its very long finish, and its playlist of positive attributes endures for as long as there is wine in the bottle. With so many successful vintages behind it, Redigaffi is a wine that nails its primary objectives year after year. In that sense, it is extremely reliable and consistent. This is one of the icon wines of Italy." Robert Parker

"A very refined red with super integrated tannins and polished and caressing texture. Medium to full body. Tight and focused. Gorgeous finish." James Suckling

“Monteverro” Toscana IGT 2016 · Double-MAGNUM in OWC

Monteverro - a classic French blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot - abounds in opulence and variety. Deep, dark ruby with a black core. Incredibly rich in aromas of dark fruit, chocolate and spices, soft, full-bodied, polished tannins. One cannot exaggerate the joy of the magnificence of this wine. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, deep, dark ruby violet. Opens with rich notes of blueberries and blackberries, lots of clear fruit, with subtle resinous tones in the background. In the beginning rich berry fruit, then opens with a coat of fine-meshed tannin, smooth, in the final much pressure, sweet melt." Falstaff

"This is another incredible edition of this wine. The fruit pops straight out with pure blackberries, blackcurrants and blueberries. Then, if that wasn’t enough, the nose reveals dark herbs, citrus, iodine, crushed stones and pressed violets. The quality of the tannins blows you away, as they take you on a journey through layers of dark fruit, supported by cutting acidity and savory undertones. Very long on the refined yet chewy finish." Deep dark ruby red. Floral nose with a lot of red, warm fruit and delicate herbal notes. On the palate smooth and elegant with a wonderful depth and structure. Then again herbs, in addition violets, some plums and a touch of tar and leather. Saffredi literally sneaks up on you, until it merges into a very long and harmonious finish with an impressive presence and finesse. One of the great wines of Italy full of elegance! SUPERIORE.DE

"The Fattoria le Pupille 2018 Saffredi borrows quite a bit from all of the grapes that make up the blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot). These balanced results open to a round bouquet of dark fruit, black cherry and plum. As the wine warms in the glass, it shows spice, cured tobacco and campfire embers. This is a full-bodied expression, but not excessively so. It puts forth immediate elegance with carefully measured tannins and a fitting postscript of fresh acidity. This newest vintage of Saffredi should be hitting the market now, but if you buy it, you should plan on cellaring it." Robert Parker

"A fantastic nose to this with currant, sage, rosemary and rose-petal character. Sweet tobacco and spicy chocolate, too. Very complex. The palate shows lovely depth of fruit with blackberries, blackcurrants and fine tannins. It’s racy and refined with a direct, focused palate. Just a baby. This needs at least two or three years to soften." James Suckling

Also in the mouth mature and with lots of fruit charm, spicy and pleasant acidity. The Saffredi has bite and a nice length with ripe tannin. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark purple red with violet hue and black center. Intense nose with sweet fruit, blackberries, stewed plums and figs, hints of leather in the background. On the palate well balanced tannins, well structured with good lengh." Markus del Monego

"From the Textbook Vintage, where for the first time in the blend of Alicante was replaced by Syrah. Shining ruby grenade. Grandiose bouquet with floral aspects and red fruits, currants, cassis, orange peel and with sweet spices, simply intoxicating. On the palate silky elegant texture, yet rich and deep, but without reaching the lavish fullness of the 2011, for me it is cooler and more elegant, with fantastic length, so I rate it much higher than previous WW ratings from before my time. This is a great Maremma cinema for me." Weinwisser

"Concentrated lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Amazing concentration and precision, with very fine oak. Concentrated palate, which is more savoury than sweet. Great crunchy red and ripe fruit with amazing balance. Lovely and hedonistic, long and layered." Jancis Robinson

"The aromas of blueberries and lavender come out nicely in the glass. Full body, with fine tannins and a bright acidity. The texture is wonderful here. Needs two or three years to come together. Saffredi is a benchmark in Tuscany's Maremmaregion." James Suckling

"The 2010 Saffredi (Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) delivers gorgeous intensity and broad aromas of black berry, leather, crushed granite and lingering smoke. It’s a masterpiece on all happy fronts. The texturalelegance is superb." Robert Parker

"Rich, sparkling ruby violet. Impressive, rich nose, smells of ripe, dark blackberries, currants, in addition some fresh figs and noble dark chocolate. Rich, dense tannin, in the attack and course much present, ripe fruit, long aftertaste." Falstaff

"Impeccably lifted and gracious on the palate, the 2011 Saffredi lifts from the glass with expressive floral notes and beautifully articulated fruit. Overall, the 2011 is an elegant, restrained Saffredi that emphasizes finesse over power, although there is plenty of vintage 2011 sexiness. More importantly, the 2011 is a big step up from the 2010. Sage, rosemary and tobacco are some of the many notes that add complexity as the wine continues to open up in the glass." Antonio Galloni

"I love the aromas of black truffles, rosemary, dark fruits, rose petals and stones. It's shows so many characteristics of Tuscany on the nose. Full body with super-fine tannins and a long finish. Tannins and all in place. Wonderful texture." James Suckling

"The 2011 Saffredi is Maremma world class!" René Gabriel Weinwisser

"The 2011 Saffredi opens to thick, dark extraction and large scale aromatic intensity. This was a warm vintage and you can feel the softness in the ripe cherry and blackberry flavors offered by the Merlot. The Cabernet component is also evident thanks to pressed rose and grilled Mediterranean herb. Saffredi is a wine built for long cellar aging, yet this vintage can also be readily consumed in the near term." Robert Parker

    • "Saffredi" Rosso Toscana IGT 2013
BALTHAZAR 12 Liters in OWC

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2013 · BALTHAZAR 12 Liters in OWC

Saffredi was born in 1987 and is named after its location in the municipality of Magliano. This is where the grapes from which this monumental masterpiece is made originate. Only the colour deep dark ruby red, with interesting violet reflections shows a pompous wine of great terroir. In the very expressive bouquet there is a wonderful abundance of floral and earthy aromas, which harmonize beautifully with the scent of red berries. On the palate a concentrated fruit, very soft and deep, structured and endlessly long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Cassis jam, blueberry compote, dark chocolate, undergrowth, silky on the palate, powerful with light (extract) sweetness and penetrating limestone minerality. Alcohol and creaminess are precisely filled with extract, large length. Highly differentiated and yet very catchy, really has noblesse – but in an emphatically soft, chubby format." Falstaff

"There's a lot to say, and admire, about the 2013 Saffredi. First off all, this is the first growing cycle made under the careful watch of enologist Luca D'Attoma. This makes all the difference. One of his changes is an increased focus on Petit Verdot, which makes up to 15% of the blend in this case. The other grapes used are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. But the increased role of Petit Verdot has awarded this vintage with stunning precision, linearity and balance. It's like a light switch has suddenly been turned on. Petit Verdot on the Tuscan Coast tends to show softer and fuller lines. In this wine, you taste the tonic crunchiness of the grape skins instead. The dark concentration of the wine is pleasurable and rich, and there's a final acidic signature that closes the deal in style. Congratulations." Robert Parker

"The 2013 Saffredi wraps around the palate with remarkable depth and intensity. Graphite, smoke, wild flowers, black cherries and plums meld together in a powerful, resonant wine built on intensity. The 2013 has a real sense of gravitas, with dark shades of fruit, expressivebalsamic-inflected overtones and plenty of nuance." Antonio Galloni

"This is another great Saffredi following the perfect 100-point 2012. I tasted it a year ago and thought it was sensational. Even better now. It's so dense and structured yet shows a lively, jazz-like vibe that gives it form and beauty. Needs at least four to five years to soften. Powerful and muscular." James Suckling

"Beautiful, lustrous ruby! More than a whiff of bordeaux, but more in the cherry spectrum and with a leafy tobacco note. Firm, grainy tannins framing youthful, compact fruit, but this is certainly not shy. Could stand up to medium-term cellaring, but already quite irresistible." Jancis Robinson

Then again herbs, in addition violets, some plum and a touch of tar and leather. Saffredi literally sneaks up on him until he then goes into a very long and harmonious finish with an impressive presence and elegance. One of the great Italian wines from an equally great Tuscany vintage! SUPERIORE.DE

"From the dream year. Cool, very precisely woven bouquet with dense aromas of red and black fruits, wonderfully floral with violets and lavender, along with spicy and ethereal notes of Mediterranean kitchen herbs, leather, chocolate and liquorice. On the palate, it is equally powerful and loaded with dense, blackberry fruit, but with linear discipline, as it remains powerful and gripping until the long final, which again offers the full range of aromas". Weinwisser

"Deep ruby with a fine violet hue. Intense and dense nose, shows notes of pickled blackberries, plums and cassis, lots of cardamom. On the palate it shows a lot of ripe berry fruit, round and smooth, lots of blackberry and blackcurrant, present, well integrated tannin, very long and persistent. Falstaff

"A generally uneventful growing season led to good ripening at a measured pace. It's a radiant, deep colour with an elegant, fresh nose of floral and patisserie aromas leading to a palate which has the same elegant cast and freshness, but it’s also concentrated and sweet-fruited, with lively, intense black fruit and notes of forest-floor, fresh bay leaf and spicy sandalwood. It has a very good future, underpinned by fine, persistent tannins." Decanter

"One of the highlights in this range, the 2016 Saffredi is a hugely promising wine marked by a beguiling combination of vertical structure, energy and concentration. Black cherry, lavender, spice, plum, sage and lavender all pulse with remarkable energy. Massive and yet remarkably vivid for such an intense wine, the 2016 is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine." Vinous

"This vintage is compact, firm and precise, with lovely floral aromas on the bouquet in front of blackberry and plum. Long oak toasting gives the wine tasty notes of spice and cinnamon and rounds the bouquet off nicely. The mouthfeel is soft and velvety. This is a complex, integrated and absolutely beautiful wine." Robert Parker

"Incredible aromas of dark berries, lavender, rosemary, licorice and dried flowers. Spice. Full body and fantastic tannin texture with great length. Goes on for minutes. Muscular yet wonderfully formed and refined. A glorious Saffredi." James Suckling (Platz 12 - TOP-Weine Italien 2018)

“Lodovico” Toscana IGT 2016 · 3 Bottles in OWC

Strong ruby with black core. Intense and dense nose, opening with blackberry, mulberry and dark currant, with tobacco and dark pepper in the background. Smoothed and velvety in its approach and development, shows a lot of juicy fruit, dark berries, fine-meshed, very smooth tannin, shines for a long time with a rich aftertaste. Just 6,000 bottles are produced each year from the single vineyard Vigna Lodovico of the Tenuta di Biserno and are then named after the first name of the founder. The wine is a true icon of Western Tuscany in terms of expression and complexity, and each year it is assigned to only one hand-picked number of importers. SUPERIORE.DE

"An opulent red that delivers saturated blackberry, black currant and blueberry fruit, shaded by coconut and toasty oak. Flashes of olive and tobacco emerge as this plays out on the long aftertaste. Harmonious and velvety, this retains a sense of elegance." Wine Spectator

"A very fine and polished red with black cherries and hints of walnuts on the nose and palate. Medium body. Lovely, tensioned tannins. Sleek and racy." James Suckling

"This is the flagship wine from Tenuta di Biserno. It represents a special selection of grapes from within the estate's Bellaria vineyard that is planted to the same Bordeaux varieties used to make the Biserno. The 2016 Lodovico is an exceptional expression with enormous depth and a contemporary taste profile that weighs concentration and power against the careful precision of the varieties used in the blend. The results are sharp and focused, allowing for detailed renditions of blackberry and plum followed by elegance, spice, toast and chocolate. The tannins are sweet and carefully integrated within the rich fiber of the wine. Tenuta di Biserno has found its stride." Robert Parker

    • "Saffredi" Maremma Toscana IGT 2011
GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

“Saffredi” Maremma Toscana IGT 2011 · GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

Perfect Supertuscan, warmth and freshness, elegance and harmony in harmony! Sweet scent of highly ripe cherries and berries with beautiful floral notes. Also in the mouth ripe and with a lot of fruit charm, spicy and pleasant acidity. The Saffredi has bite and a nice length with ripe tannin. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2011 Saffredi is Maremma world class!" René Gabriel (20 points)

"The 2011 Saffredi opens to thick, dark extraction and large scale aromatic intensity. This was a warm vintage and you can feel the softness in the ripe cherry and blackberry flavors offered by the Merlot. The Cabernet component is also evident thanks to pressed rose and grilled Mediterranean herb. Saffredi is a wine built for long cellar aging, yet this vintage can also be readily consumed in the near term." Robert Parker

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 · GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

Floral nose with a lot of red, warm fruit and delicate herbal notes. On the palate it is smooth and elegant with a wonderful depth and structure.

On the palate, it is just as powerful and loaded with dense, blackberry fruit, but with linear discipline, as it remains powerful and gripping until the long final, which again offers the full range of aromas".

“Saffredi” Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 · GOLIATH 18 Liters in OWC

Deep dark ruby red.
