“Palmina” Rosato Toscana IGT 2022 (BIO)
Palmina comes from 45-year-old vines, is only produced in very small quantities and is an extremely successful example of a single-varietal Sangiovese Rosato and one of the best in Tuscany. An impressive wine with an independent profile, the bouquet of rose petals is extremely complex and fine. The fruity taste has an enchantingly elegant structure, juicy and fresh, with a very appealing finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"This is perfumed and attractive with ripe nectarines, pink cherries, cherry blossom and grapefruit skins. Round and textured, medium-bodied, with a ripe but fresh citrusy character. Delicious." James Suckling
"Sparkling orange-pink. In the nose of honeycomb, ripe cranberries, thyme in the aftertaste. On the palate again honeycomb and small red berries, juicy, harmonious course through the play of fruit melting and crisp acidity, long." Falstaff

“Bianco di Riecine” Toscana IGT 2021 (BIO)
The grapes for this exciting, mash-fermented Trebbiano come from the vineyards that the Dunkleys (former owners of the winery) found when they arrived in Gaiole in Chianti. They are destemmed and fermented in Cocciopesto amphorae. Once fermentation is complete, most of the wine remains on the skins for six months, while a small portion (10-15%) is aged without skins for the same amount of time in new Liters tonneaux. Rich orange-yellow. In the slightly reductive bouquet notes of stewed apple, citrus and pear. Very fruity on the palate, with a striking acidity and a beautiful tannin. Medium-bodied and long, very exciting and drinky! SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Bianco di Riecine is aged in amphorae. The 2021 is rich and phenolic, with an abundance of orange peel and hazelnuts. Dried herbs and chamomile complete the layers in this dense, phenolic white wine. It is a wine to be enjoyed on its own merits, as it is not intended to express any regional or varietal character." Vinous
"Sparkling straw yellow with greenish reflections. In the nose nobly restrained, stony, some citrus fruit as well as a hint of white peach. On the palate also lemony, straightforward and fresh, salty, refreshing acidity, medium-long, salty final." Falstaff
"A Trebbiano with skin contact, dried apples and lemon peel, walnuts and a touch of flor. It is full but not heavy, with an agile and crisp character. A hint of beeswax with dried fruit." James Suckling

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2020
This Riserva is only made available each year in very small quantities to hand-picked specialist retailers and top restaurants. Brilliant ruby red colour. Fine raspberry and floral notes dominate the spicy nose. Very juicy on the palate, tannins and acidity are well integrated. Riecines Riserva has length and suppleness right through to the long fruity finish. The elegance and fine melting texture are impressive. Once again, this is Sangiovese at the top level that Riecine is known for! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby colour with garnet-red reflections. A savoury nose with ripe fruit of cranberries and blackberries. Fruity-sweet and juicy on the palate, opens up with a wide arc, powerful, right into the slightly salty final." Falstaff
"Cinnamon and balsamic notes permeate redcurrant with a core of pomegranate and cranberry on the palate. The tannins are quite compact and the acidity is lively, giving an edgy expression in the moment." Decanter
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva is a real stunner with its remarkable depth and textural resonance. Black cherry, spices, mocha and dried herbs are some of the many notes that unfold in the glass. A wine with substance and presence, the 2020 offers plenty of intensity, but is by no means over the top." Vinous
"The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva has notes of cherry liqueur and sweet crème de cassis on the nose, and the mouthfeel reflects some of the viscous nature of these descriptions. However, this pretty wine also shows depth and varietal clarity, supported by a medium structure." Wine Advocate
"Sandalwood and cherry with some orange peel. Medium body. Fine tannins. Crisp and bright. Lively and delicious. A hint of orange peel and brightness on the finish." James Suckling
"Riserva di Riecine, from a selection of the estate's best plots, clay-limestone soils and pure Sangiovese. On the nose, notes of red cherries, mentholated notes and nutmeg, with hints of eucalyptus. Juicy mouthfeel, with iodised tannins, a fruity, mentholated finish and persistence." Luca Gardini

“La Gioia” Rosso Toscana IGT 2019
La Gioia is the pure expression of Sangiovese with fruit from the estate's best sites. It is a great, expressive wine every year, maintaining its crisp, medium-weight mouthfeel. Tones of cherries, wild berries, violets and spices make for an elegant and very pure bouquet. The finish shows a fresh acidity in the typical and very finesse Riecine style. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Rosso La Gioia, mainly Sangiovese with a touch of Merlot, is powerful, juicy and expressive. Juicy red cherry and plum fruit, dried herbs, rose petals, mocha and sweet spices are beautifully amplified in this generous, inviting red blend." Vinous
"Sweet berries and cherries with hints of lavender and rose petals. Medium body, very fine tannins and undertones of orange peel. Firm yet silky. Still needs some time to soften, but is already very nice." James Suckling
"The 2019 La Gioia shows bramble and forest berry on first nose. It quickly shifts into a second gear that prizes richness and velvety softness. That added intensity appears to be driven by the small percentage of Merlot that does indeed change the overall DNA of the wine, giving it more density." Wine Advocate
"A wine with an imposing flavour-olfactory structure, a monument of the supertuscan typology made from pure Sangiovese. Nose with notes of blackberry jam, earthy and tobacco scents, with a hint of cinnamon. On the palate, tense, iodine-salted, great length." Luca Gardini

"The Riecine di Riecine 2020 is an idiosyncratic, fascinating wine. Dried herbs, tobacco, incense, wild flowers and mint give this pure Sangiovese a decidedly savoury flair. The Riecine di Riecine is medium-bodied and also quite spicy, it is decidedly exotic." Vinous

“Tresette” Merlot Toscana IGT 2018
The name Tresette is derived from the fact that only 2,800 bottles of this single-varietal Merlot are produced each year and it is aged in three Liters French oak barrels. The grapes come from old vines on a plot 480 metres above sea level, and it is only vinified in the best years. Tresette is a cool, archetypal Merlot that is very elegant and unique in Tuscany and is entirely in keeping with the house style. Juicy blackberry flavours, clove, herbs and spices on the nose. Enveloped by supple tannins, this fresh red leads into a delicious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Intense ruby red colour. Notes of cherry, raspberry and sour cherry, with a hint of herbs and Mediterranean scrub. Deep and soft on the palate, with excellently integrated tannins and a spicy, fresh finish." Falstaff
"Violets, raspberries and passion fruit on the nose of this Tuscan Merlot join with savory notes of graphite, wet stone near a running stream, and black olives. Juicy fruit bursts through on the palate, offering cherry, strawberry and raspberry. Firm if forgiving tannins strike a tension between powerful and graceful." Wine Enthusiast
"The Riecine 2018 Merlot TreSette comes from a site with schistose galestro clay soils. This wine is dark and velvety in texture with dark fruit, spice and savory tones of dark cherry and plum. What stands out most in this Tuscan Merlot is the robust nature of the mouthfeel. This creative wine is made with early-ripening fruit from one of the wildest corners of the region." Wine Advocate
"Attractive red with plum, herb and orange-peel character. Medium body, refined tannins and a fresh, vivid finish. Really delicious now." James Suckling

“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019
Here it is, the impressive first Gran Selezione from Riecine, showing more grace than muscle and delivering a Riecine-typical and very precise Burgundian interpretation of the Sangiovese grape.
The grapes come from the single vineyard of the same name in a 2.25 hectare Chianti Classico vineyard planted in 1971 with a density of 3,400 vines per hectare and situated on old terraces facing south. Riecine has leased these plots since the 1980s, and now the winery has managed to purchase this site, which is one of the best terroirs in the Chianti Classico area. So it is only logical that the 50th anniversary of the winery and the outstanding 2019 vintage should mark the debut of the new top wine. The bottles are numbered, just 3,233 0.Liters and 50 magnum bottles were bottled.
Spicy bouquet, delicate accents of vanilla and toasted bread that combine with notes of cherry, strawberry and violet. Rich in the mouth, with a solid structure and a long, polished final characterised by fruit, Mediterranean grass and a mineral note. Develops wonderfully - and should be one of the best Gran Selezione of the vintage "right off the bat". Congratulations on the anniversary! SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with a gently brightening rim. Expressive nose, clear, initially of fine wild strawberries and some raspberries, red currants and delicate vegetal aromas in the aftertaste. Shows extremely elegant and polished on the palate, with tightly meshed, pithy tannin, very juicy on the back end, with minimally persistent tannin." Falstaff
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori is a plump, juicy wine. Black cherry, leather, incense, tobacco and dried herbs meld together nicely in this attractive, curvy Gran Selezione. Deceptive in its mid-weight feel, the 2019 shows terrific depth and fine overall balance." Vinous
"Here is a new and exciting submission from Riecine in Gaiole in Chianti. The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori is being released as a special way of commemorating the estate's 50th anniversary. The number 50 appears on the front label. This top-end wine comes off with dark fruit, austere spice and dry wood. Those are the aromas; however, the wine is surprisingly soft and silky in texture. It's a nice dual effect. 3,233 bottles and 50 magnums were released." Wine Advocate
"Blackberry, orange-peel and Spanish-cedar aromas. Exotic fruit, too. Full-bodied with seamless tannins and a very, very long finish. A benchmark Gran Selezione. Structured, yet fine at the same time." James Suckling
"Riecine's first ever Gran Selezione is a true beauty. It comes from the Gittori vineyard, a south-facing plot which sits above 500 metres, planted in 1971 - after renting it for 20 years, the estate was finally able to purchase it in 2019. The nose shows pure, precise fragrances of rose, wildflower, raspberry and spice. Fruit is at the fore, with integrated oak in the background – simply there to support. Youthfully plump and joyful at the moment, the succulent acidity and silky tannins bring vibrancy and alluring texture respectively. It has the depth and complexity worthy of Gran Selezione and is a glorious demonstration that the category isn't solely reserved for muscle-bound powerhouses." Decanter

“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020
The grapes for this remarkably Burgundian Gran Selezione come from the single vineyard of the same name in a 2.25-hectare Chianti Classico vineyard, which was planted in 1971 with a density of 3,400 vines per hectare and is south-facing on old terraces. Riecine has leased these plots since the 1980s, and in the 2019 debut vintage, the winery succeeded in acquiring this site, which is one of the best terroirs in the Chianti Classico region. The bottles are numbered and around 4,000 bottles and 50 magnums are bottled each year.
Spicy bouquet, delicate accents of vanilla and toasted bread, which combine with notes of cherry, strawberry and violet. Rich on the palate, with a solid structure and a long, polished final characterised by fruit, Mediterranean grass and a mineral note. Wonderful ageing potential! SUPERIORE.DE
"Brilliant, lively ruby red colour. On the nose, initially candle wax, then ripe cherries and forest fruits, reminiscent of ripe watermelon, with a second aftertaste of dark spices, some sealing wax and leather. Compact and tightly woven on the palate, polished on the tongue, very juicy and deep, with a clear fruit final." Falstaff
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2020 Vigna Gittori from the vineyards of Gaiole is aromatic, racy and very expressive. Crushed flowers, blood orange, white pepper and mint lend this medium-bodied, silky Gran Selezione a remarkable aromatic presence. The polished tannins round off the whole thing in style." Vinous
"Presented in a handsome, redesigned bottle with a black wax capsule, the Riecine 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori takes a different approach to the hot vintage. It offers flavours that feel anything but overripe and in fact evoke cooler elements of wild berries, peat moss, perfumed violets, flint, campfire ash and crushed white pepper. With this more restrained ripeness comes more spice and texture from oak ageing. This wine shows a beautiful elegance." Wine Advocate
"Such purity and beauty with aromas and flavours of roses, peaches, citrus and cherries. Medium-bodied, with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Crisp and refined. It lasts for minutes. So drinkable and beautiful now, but it will improve." James Suckling

"The Riecine 2018 La Gioia is 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot made from a selection of the best fruit from high-elevation vineyards ranging from 480 to 600 meters above sea level. Dark fruit, sweet cherry and spice appear over medium-rich concentration. You get more sweet fruit on the finish, and the wine produces attractive freshness. That small component of Merlot goes a long way to shape this wine's fruit-forward personality." Wine Advocate

"Bright, shiny ruby colour with garnet-red nuances. Fragrant, almost perfumed on the nose, of lavender, rosehip, fresh raspberries and fine woody spice. Tightly woven, elegant tannins on the palate, carried by invigorating acidity, with a long, pleasantly salty finish." Falstaff
"The Riecine di Riecine 2020 is a real statement wine. The very distinctive packaging is dedicated to this pure expression of Sangiovese from 60 year old vines. It offers plenty of ripe, dark cherry, but this wine also shows a clearer veiling of the sweet cinnamon spice that comes from the grape skins." Wine Advocate
"A fresh, clean and light red wine with candied lemon slices and a hint of flowers such as violets. It is medium-bodied and delicious. It builds on the palate. Crisp and flattering texture. Toscana of the new generation." James Suckling

“Tresette” Merlot Toscana IGT 2016 · MAGNUM in OWC
This is the first vintage of the new pure Merlot of the house. The name Tresette is derived from the fact that there will be just 2,800 bottles of this wine, which will be aged in three 700l French oak barrels. The grapes come from old vines from a 480m high plot of land, and it is only vinified in the best years. Tresette is a cool, archetypal Merlot of the very elegant type and is completely in keeping with the style of the house. Juicy blackberry, in the nose clove, herbs and spice notes. Wrapped in smooth tannins, this fresh red leads to a delicious finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"From a vineyard of only 0.7 hectares at 480 metres above sea level, matures for 20 months in 7 hectolitre barrels: Seductive blackberry aroma, underlaid with notes of liquorice; juicy in the mouth, the tannins and acidity in harmony, elegant and polished final. Convincing." Vinum
" Firm, quite deep, slightly iodine scent of black currant and red berries with herbal aromas, some nuts, blood, black olives and moderate wood spice as well as mineral notes. Firm, ripe, tart, yet extremely juicy fruit, tight, quite fine tannin and a certain acid bite, persistent on the palate, herbal and planty notes, a hint of pepper, clear, salty and chalky minerality, has power, but also freshness and cooling elements, noble spice, very lively, multi-layered and deep, very good, tight, juicy and finely spicy finish. Great." Wein-Plus
"Named after the Italian card game, the 2016 TreSette (777) is a pure expression of Merlot from old vines. Only 2,800 bottles were made. Riecine's La Gioia once had Merlot in the blend, but it was removed to make this wine instead. This wine offers a generous bouquet with blackcurrant and cherry. However, the high altitudes of the vineyards shape crisp and acidic fruit that is very evident in this slightly cooler vintage." Wine Advocate
"This is a pretty wild and amazing on the nose with crystal-clear aromas of lavender, before the bay leaves, Thai basil, cloves and a touch of vanilla come into play. Medium to full body, incredibly edgy acidity and layer after layer of pure blue fruits. An outstanding wine with few parallels in Italy. One of a kind." James Suckling

“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2020 · MAGNUM in gift box

“Vigna Gittori” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM

“La Gioia” Rosso Toscana IGT 2016 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Genuine expression of Sangiovese, terroir and the typical Riecine style, which is based above all on elegance. Deep, sparkling colour, complex, animating scent of small red berries and corresponding persistence in taste. An impressive wine with the finesse of a great Sangiovese. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby with a fine garnet shimmer. Appealing nose with notes of pomegranate, cherry and spicy thyme. Round and polished at the base, shows very well worked out fruit, present and at the same time tender, then opens up with lots of handy tannin." Falstaff
"A pure expression of Sangiovese, the 2016 La Gioia is a beauty. Off the bat, the wine shows a specific mineral note that reminds me of black stone or dusty granite. Beyond that, you get a thick and dense layer of black fruit and plum. The wine is never heavy or flat, instead it shows a lot of energy and freshness with a point of spiciness on the close. That energy is typical of Gaiole in Chianti. This is a medium-to-full bodied Sangiovese with all its various moving parts in harmony, ready for a Tuscan bean and tomato stew with fresh bread and healthy wedges of pecorino." Wine Advocate
"This is a powerful red with beautiful ripe tannins and freshness. Full and linear. Opens in the mouth. A pure sangiovese. Yeah!" James Suckling

The Riecine winery is one of the pearls of Chianti Classico and has become a legend after just 40 years. In the year 1112 the name was probably mentioned for the first time in a document of the nearby monastery. It took until 1971 before the late Briton John Dunkley bought the property with a piece of land above Gaiole. He brought the first bottled wine to the market seven years later. He immediately became a success.
Dunkley, who was regarded as an advocate of the highest quality standards, quickly brought his property to world fame. In 1996, the Riecine estate became the property of the American Gary J. Baumann, who sold it 16 years later to a family of investors who did not wish to be named.
Riecine stands for very authentic and genuine wines of the region. From a stylistic point of view, the estate, with its well-founded classical approach, occupies an exceptional position in Tuscany. The enormous success is above all due to the farsightedness of the oenologist and production manager Sean O'Callaghan. He has developed a personal style that does not always fully correspond to the Chianti tradition, but is innovative.
Sangiovese is the only grape variety used, and its successor, the world-famous oenologist Carlo Ferrini (from 2017), remains faithful to it. Riecine's grape material is of the highest quality. When processing the berries, sensitive interpretation is more important than sober technical know-how. The results of this loving work are graceful delicacies offered at fair prices, free from fashionable overripe flavours, fat fruit or dry tannins. The wines are therefore celebrated again and again by the specialist press.
The biodynamic vineyards are located in different areas of Chianti Classico. Some vineyards are located just behind the winery, others are in Vertine and La Casina, or are already part of Montecucco. Following the purchase of land from neighbouring estates in spring 2013 and the letting of some vineyards, 15 hectares of vineyards are currently being used for production at Riecine Estate. SUPERIORE.DE
"With competence and prudence Sean O'Callaghan has set up an elite vine school here with an affiliated wine-making centre, from which Sangiovese champs full of character regularly emerge."Gambero Rosso
