“Le Cinciole” Chianti Classico DOCG 2020 (BIO)
In 1991, Luca and Valeria Orsini gave up their work in Milan to produce wine in Tuscany. Their winery comprises 10 hectares of south-east facing vineyards in Panzano and the wines have been certified organic since 2000. This outstanding Annata opens discreetly on the nose with subtle scents of cherry blossom, heather and roses. On the palate, it is decidedly red-fruited with redcurrants and raspberries, embraced by finely structured, powdery and persistent tannins. It has a beautiful energy and above all lets the true charm of Sangiovese shine through. A real high-flyer in terms of authenticity every year! SUPERIORE.DE
"This is racy with red-fruited character, showcasing notes of dried orange peel, red licorice and chocolate. Medium-bodied with juicy acidity and velvety, soft tannins. Supple finish." James Suckling
"The 2020 Chianti Classico is gorgeous. Wonderfully pure and bright, the 2020 conveys the essence of Sangiovese in its vibrant red-toned fruit. Sweet floral and spice notes appear in the glass, extending the mid-palate and finish effortlessly. All the elements are so nicely balanced. The 2020 is all class. Give it a year or two to soften. The 2020 spent a year in cask followed by a year in cement." Vinous

“Aluigi” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2018 (BIO)
The deep Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, made from 100 percent Sangiovese from the Campo ai Peri small vineyard, exudes a pleasantly warm aroma with red berries, flowers, spices and liquorice. On the palate, an intense fruitiness in a delightful, fine texture, with a fresh acidity and great balance of extract sweetness, acidity and tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Aluigi Campo ai Peri is a terrific follow up to the stellar 2016. Rich, deep and explosive, the Aluigi saturates the palate with dark fruit, leather, tobacco, spice, menthol and espresso notes. This ample, full-bodied Panzano Gran Selezione hits all the right notes. The marriage of elegance and pure power is compelling." Vinous

“Aluigi” Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2019 (BIO)
The profound Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, made from 100 per cent Sangiovese from the small Campo ai Peri vineyard, exudes a pleasantly warm aroma of red berries, flowers, spices and liquorice. Intense fruitiness on the palate with a charming, fine texture, fresh acidity and a great balance of extract sweetness, acidity and tannin. SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling ruby colour with a slightly brightening rim. Opens with notes of blackberries and ripe plums, some liquorice and pepper. Clear on the palate with full-bodied tannins, builds for a long time, somewhat metallic on the final, dries out, still needs longer ageing." Falstaff
"Intriguing blackberry and dried flower flavours, also leather notes; the attack is full-bodied with a perfectly balanced tannin-acid structure, the finish finely chiselled with stone fruit aromas, also tobacco notes. To wild duck with polenta." Vinum
"Aromas of cherry chocolate, red plums, mild spices and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, structured and velvety with crisp and delicate fruit and polished tannins. Floral and mineral on the finish." James Suckling
"The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Aluigi Campo ai Peri 2019 from Le Cinciole is an exquisite wine that is immediately seductive. More than anything, I admire its purity and delineation. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, rose petals and dried herbs are finely chiselled in this chiselled, vibrant Gran Selezione. Le Cinciole sets the standard. What a great wine this is." Vinous

“Camalaione” Rosso Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT 2017 (BIO)
Camalaione - a powerful cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah - smells of dark fruits, menthol, smoke, liquorice and toasted oak. Deep and dense, with excellent persistence and remarkable evolution in the glass. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2017 Camalaione, Le Cinciole's Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Syrah blend, packs a huge punch. Blackberry, lavender, grilled herbs, chocolate and incense power through. There is plenty of intensity, but not exactly much elegance or finesse." Vinous

“Petresco” Rosso Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT 2018 (BIO)
Deep dark ruby red. Ripe notes of dried small currants and blackberries, plus some smoke and tobacco - this is Sangiovese in concentrated form. Lush and fleshy on the palate, with firm body, spicy nuances, multilayered fruit and a wonderful finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2018 Petresco is another stellar wine from Le Cinciole. Bright and focused, with striking explosive energy, Petresco sizzles with tension. Black cherry, coffee, spice, leather, incense, lavender and plum all run through a linear, driving pure Sangiovese that is going to need at least a few years to come together. There is a ton of potential here, but readers need to be patient." Vinous

“Petresco” Rosso Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT 2019 (BIO)
Deep, dark ruby red colour. Ripe notes of dried small redcurrants and blackberries, plus some smoke and tobacco - this is Sangiovese in its most focussed form. Lush and fleshy on the palate, with a firm body, spicy nuances, multi-layered fruit and a wonderful finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Plenty of sweet spices lie upon the citrus and rich berry fruit. Lots of ripeness here but it is also fresh and flavorful, showing impressive texture, structure and a long, juicy finish." James Suckling
"The 2019 Petresco picks up where the 2018 left off, although it is perhaps a bit more reserved at this stage than its older sibling was. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2019 possesses notable depth and intensity. Time in the glass brings out shades of red/purplish Sangiovese fruit mixed with suggestions of new leather, spice and menthol." Vinous

Since the purchase of the estate in 1991, the owners have invested a lot in the renewal of the vineyards with better clones. At the same time they have changed the cultivation of the vineyards to environmentally friendly methods. Since 2002 the farm has been certified according to the CE regulation for organic farming. Luca and Valeria have chosen to cultivate almost exclusively Sangiovese on their land. Both are convinced that "only this autochthonous variety can be true Chianti Classico". The Latvian soils above a massive rocky base are particularly suitable for growing the dominant grape variety. In order to preserve the authenticity of the grapes, the vines are aged in wooden barrels to a lesser extent.
The two historical wines produced at Azienda Le Cinciole are the Chianti Classico "Le Cinciole" and the Chianti Classico Riserva "Petresco". The former contains a very low percentage of Canaiolo and is aged mainly in medium-sized barrels of summer oak. The Riserva, which matures in small barriques, is obtained from a selection of the finest Sangiovese grapes from the best sites. For the "Camalaione", a plot of land has been specially created with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. According to the estate owners, this wine should also reflect the special terroir of Panzano. SUPERIORE.DE
"The location ... in conjunction with the methods of vineyard management, which are carefully adapted to the terroir, result in plants that reflect this environment in a way that is as authentic as it is unique. Gambero Rosso 2010
