Bouquet of sweet red berries, balsamic notes, fine aromas of tobacco and chocolate. On the palate very harmonious after dark cherries, flattering full flavour, perfectly balanced tannins, fresh acidity and good length. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2019 vintage of Le Volte dell'Ornellaia is characterised by a great balance and expressiveness. It glows ruby red in the glass and presents clearly defined, intense nuances of red berries and rose petals on the nose. The palate is full-bodied and enveloping, with dense tannins and lively acidity. A very pleasant and enjoyable wine." Olga Fusari (Kellermeisterin Ornellaia)

"The 2019 Le Volte dell'Ornellaia is terrific. Bold, juicy and wonderfully expressive, the 2019 will drink well right out of the gate. Juicy black cherry, lavender, spice, menthol and chocolate are all kicked up a few notches. In 2019 Le Volte is especially dark and sumptuous, both of which add to its considerable immediacy and overall appeal. This is an especially fine vintage for the Ornellaia's entry-level bottling." Vinous

"This is very Mediterranean in character with sage and rosemary to the blackberry and tar aromas. It's medium-to full-bodied with medium, chewy tannins and a savory finish. Black-pepper undertones with cloves." James Suckling

Poggio Alle Gazze is a very elegant Sauvignon Blanc with a small addition of Vermentino and Viognier. Fabulously scented with flowers, pineapple, peach and a little mint. Refined and expressive on the palate, well structured and wonderfully long. SUPERIORE.DE

"Bright straw yellow with light green nuances. Intense and appealing nose with notes of gooseberry, fresh pineapple and apricot. Juicy fruit on the palate, unfolds with crisp acidity, nice play, vibrant on the final." Falstaff

"Bright and vivid sauvignon with sliced lemons and limes, as well as some grass and fresh fennel. Medium-bodied with gooseberry, lychee and lime flavors. Bright acidity. Bitter lemon at the finish." James Suckling

"The 2019 Poggio alle Gazze is bright and beautifully sculpted in this vintage. Lemon peel, white flowers, apple and exotic floral notes are nicely delineated. This is an especially perfumed edition of Poggio alle Gazze. Lime, green apple and exotic floral notes lead into the super-expressive finish." Vinous

"This remains one of the great, fresh and easy-drinking whites of the Tuscan Coast, and historically, it has a leg up on most of the newcomer Vermentinos that are so popular now. Indeed, this was the precursor and a direct link to the gastronomy of its birthplace, which is so heavily driven by the catch of the day netted by local fisherman. Floral and exotic fruit tones rise from the pretty bouquet with shadings of green papaya and citrus. About one-half of the total sees some oak aging, and the rest goes into steel vat and cement. “Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia” Bolgheri DOC 2018

Beguiling aroma of sweet, dark berries with hints of cassis, cedar and antique leather. Very balanced and elegant on the palate, of beautiful viscosity with an elegant melting. Fine-meshed tannin, restrained mineral tones and a wonderfully fresh and polished fruit accompany into a remarkable finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2018 shines in a rich ruby red and has a pronounced aromatic complexity, which is a typical characteristic of the vintage. On the nose, aromas of wild berries, blackberries, raspberries and red cherries unfold, accompanied by floral nuances such as wild roses and spicy notes such as pink pepper and liquorice. On the palate, the wine is supple and balanced with a lovely tannic structure and a crisp, tasty final." Olga Fusari (Kellermeisterin Ornellaia)

"Bright, rich garnet. In the nose noble but reserved, a hint of mint, ripe wild berries. Then extremely polished on the palate, excellent use of wood, with pressure, tightly woven, spreads elegantly, punchy, long and compact." Falstaff

"The 2018 Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is everything a second wine should be. Open-knit and silky, with impeccable balance and tons of sheer appeal, the 2018 is exquisite today. I would prefer to drink it on the early side in order to capture all of its freshness." Vinous

"The 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that is aged in oak for 15 months. The wine shows depth, concentration and generous fruit weight that adds to the intensity and the textural importance of this abundant, full-bodied expression. Late-season rains threw some challenges at the winemakers of Bolgheri, but this open-knit wine has emerged unscathed." Robert Parker

"Le Serre Nuove's approachable style comes from younger vines or those on lighter, sandier soils, whilst retaining its potential to age in bottle. 2018 brought useful winter dormancy, provocative spring deluges, hot August flushes, and cool, calming harvest nights. It's a sophisticated red with smooth, Ornellaia-esque appeal in a lighter key. Its forward-flowing, velvety fruit is well defined, clear, persistent and easy to engage with. Tannins from both fruit and oak are integrated and in sync." Decanter

Fine-meshed tannin, restrained mineral tones and a wonderfully polished fruit accompany into a remarkable finish. Fresh aromas of ripe red berries unfold on the nose, accompanied by lively balsamic notes that recall the scent of cypress cones and eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine presents itself silky-soft and full-bodied, with an elegant tannic structure and a tasty, long-lasting final." OLGA FUSARI (KELLERMEISTERIN ORNELLAIA)

"Sparkling, rich ruby with violet. Fresh and appealing nose, opens with notes of tobacco, lots of blackberry and cassis. Round and supple in attack and course, showing plenty of polished, well-integrated tannin, lots of juicy berry fruit." Falstaff

"Currants, sweet tobacco, walnut husk and flowers on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied, it grows on the palate, with firm yet polished tannins and a flavorful finish. Very solid and well-crafted second wine from Ornellaia." James Suckling

"A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2019 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia shows a greater degree of focus and detail compared to the previous vintage that I tasted at the same time. This wine reveals the sharp contours and etched character of the Cabernet Franc, especially with black licorice and black pepper. The results are linear and pure. “Ornus dell’Ornellaia” IGT 2016 · in Gift Box

Ornus dell'Ornellaia, the sweet, golden-coloured late vintage from Petit Manseng, has an extraordinarily complex bouquet with distinct notes of ripe tropical fruit, dried apricots and blossom honey. On the palate, multi-layered, intense with an impressive balance between suppleness, assertive fruit and precise, lively acidity. In the endless finish, subtle notes of toasted oak and crème brûlée. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2016 Ornus is a rich, heady dessert wine made from Petit Manseng. Dried fruit, hazelnut, spice, leather and dried flowers infuse the 2016 with striking depth. Burnished and expressive." Vinous

"Ooh, ahh, here's a little nugget of pure gold from the coast of Tuscany. The Ornellaia 2016 Ornus dell'Ornellaia is a pure expression of late-harvest Petit Manseng that shimmers and shines with sunlight and golden luminosity. This is a beautiful little creation, both to look at and of course to drink. The sweetness here is contained overall, showing honey, brown sugar and dried apricot. But the wine also flaunts its Tuscan roots, and that implies an extra dose of sweet succulence and creamy texture. Bright acidity balances out the palate. The mouthfeel is elegant, cleverly showing weight but no heaviness. Fermentation occurs in all new barrique, and no malolactic happens." Robert Parker

"Really beautiful second wine from Ornellaia with blackcurrant and blueberry aromas and flavors. Full body and round, soft tannins that caress the palate." James Suckling

“Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia” Bolgheri DOC 2019 · MAGNUM in OWC

Beguiling aroma of sweet, dark berries with hints of cassis, cedar and antique leather. Very balanced on the palate, of beautiful viscosity with an elegant melting. Fine-meshed tannin, restrained mineral tones and a wonderfully polished fruit accompany into a remarkable finish. With all its elegance, it shows pressure and power and promises a long life with the right dose of acidity. A great wine from a great vintage! SUPERIORE.DE

"Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2019 shines in its typical intense colour.

Elegant fruit notes of blackberry and dark currant add to the thick layering of the wine." Robert Parker

    • "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

      “Ornellaia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

Dense and dark with a bright ruby rim. On the nose, liquorice, roasted cereals, vanilla and black berries. The taut tannin structure coupled with fine fruit sweetness and very harmonious acid wire is impressive. SUPERIORE.DE

"Ornellaia 2017 interprets the particularly warm and sunny year masterfully. The intense and dark colour announces a wine of beautiful concentration. Rich and complex on the nose, it releases aromas of ripe berry fruits accompanied by notes of sweet tobacco and vanilla. The palate reveals an Ornellaia of great balance, a combination of persistence and pleasant freshness." Olga Fusari (Kellermeisterin Ornellaia)

"2017 can only be described as an extreme vintage in which sun and heat played a decisive role. That's why I decided to name the character of the 2017 Ornellaia "Radiant". The wine is dominated by notes of dark berries and liquorice, underpinned by velvety tannins that are typical of hot vintages. At the same time, excellent suppleness and acidity give the wine a splendid Mediterranean character." Axel Heinz (Direktor Ornellaia)

"From one of the hottest vintages, this vintage shows a deep dark colour. In the nose with dark fruits like cassis and also blackberry. A little smoky. Presents itself on the palate with tart and still present tannins. The tart notes are carried by a fresh and demanding acidity with juicy, powerful black cherry fruit. Long finish." Vinum

"Though well-oaked, this features ample black cherry, plum and loam flavors to match the vanilla and sweet spice elements. Harmonious and accessible at this young stage, but will be better in a few years once the components harmonize. Vibrant and long." Wine Spectator

"A big, rich wine for the vintage, yet poised and lively with firm, chewy tannins that give form and intensity to the wine. It shows loads of blackberry, blackcurrant and walnut flavors. Ripe yet polished tannins. Give this three or four years to come together." James Suckling

"This vintage of Ornellaia is called Solare and represents the 12th edition in the estate's Vendemmia d'Artista series featuring artwork by Tomás Saraceno. His beautiful art depicts a radiant sun halo and is intended as a symbol of sustainability. That theme of sunshine and warmth is particularly well suited to a vintage such as this. The Ornellaia 2017 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is generous and fruit-forward with dense richness and concentration all driven by the smaller and more compact berry size that characterizes this dry, hot growing season. Black and purple fruits segue to spice, tobacco, leather and some of those beautiful Mediterranean notes of black olive and wild sage. These various moving pieces work together in perfect harmony. The tannins are beautifully managed here. If you consider the more astringent and rougher approach of the mid-tier Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia, this wine shows a whole other level of magnificent tannic management that could not have been easy given the diminutive berry size. This vintage sees a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 9% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard soils are characterized by reddish sand with calcareous rock. The wine is fermented in both stainless steel and cement and is transferred over to barrique to finish malolactic fermentation." Robert Parker

"A stunning wine, the 2017 Ornellaia offers a captivating interplay of richness and energy. Picking early was the key. Young vine Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc were harvested in August for the first time ever. In the glass, the 2017 offers up an enticing mélange of mocha, cedar, tobacco and licorice, with soft curves that add to its sensuality and allure. The 2017 is sumptuous and racy, as Ornellaias from warmer years tend to be, but it is not at all heavy or overdone. In a word: superb!" Vinous

    • "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018

      “Ornellaia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018

Ornellaia 2018 "La Grazia" (Grace & Grace) is the expression of a perfectly balanced vintage. After unusually hot and dry seasons, in 2018 the earth finally received the necessary rainfall and winter cold to rest and reset the vine's life cycle. Healthy grapes were harvested between 31 August and 8 October, with an excellent balance of acidity and sugar.

Pure bouquet of red fruits, mocha, spices, cassis, blood orange and dried flowers, very finesse for its youth. In the background, very restrained maquis, white smoke and traces of liquorice. Clear and firm on the palate, it only gradually reveals a terrific structure, fanning out fruit, tannins and a wonderfully harmonious acidity. One should not make the mistake of opening it too early, it will gain in elegance and depth over the years. SUPERIORE.DE

"The typical intense ruby red of Ornellaia 2018 has a lively and distinctive aroma that characterises the entire vintage. The flavour profile of the 2018 Ornellaia is characterised by an interplay of red fruits, citrus notes, aromas of liquorice and Mediterranean scrubland. On the palate, the wine is enveloping and well-proportioned: its tight yet silky tannin fills the palate with elegance and conciseness. The final reveals a pronounced spicy nuance that brings out the fresh and long aftertaste." Olga Fusari (Kellermeisterin Ornellaia)

"Medium-bodied ruby red with a rich centre and distinct violet-blue colouring and reflections. A wine that lives up to its name "La Grazia" already in the aroma. Already in the first approach very appealing with a lot of blue fruit, finest vanilla bean and cedar, behind it the Mediterranean macchia and wonderful liquorice notes come to the fore. This is already very harmonious and seductive. The palate is enormously juicy and elegant with good density, the finely polished tannin is creamy, almost like velvet and silk, it lies on the tongue without heaviness. The acidity is already well integrated, perhaps it will lack a bit of tension for the very long journey, but this will be a subtle, early accessibleOrnellaia
with a high enjoyment factor." Weinwisser

"Sparkling, rich ruby with light violet shimmer. Opens with rich dark berry fruit, behind it resinous Mediterranean herbs, some cedar wood. Round and juicy on the palate, very nicely balanced, velvety, already amazingly well-integrated tannin, lardy and lots of plump fruit, reverberating with sandalwood and gingerbread." Falstaff

"Ornellaia 2018 is appealingly gentle now, but its tannin quality and fruit clarity suggest it has the attributes for greatness over the next 15 years or more. It is also notable for its unusually high Merlot content at 51% (with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot). The Merlot benefitted, it seems, from 2018's alternate bouts of hot, sunny weather interspersed with reviving showers. A fruit-packed Ornellaia with bright flavours and a moreish, silky-smooth and sophisticated texture allied to a potentially wide drinking window." Decanter

"The 2018 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is complete and seamlessly stitched together with extreme care and precision. This is an almost technical blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot that offers a true sense of wholeness and consistency that speaks to the blending expertise and experience of the winemaking team. Finding harmony among the various vinous components of the wine was especially important in this vintage that prized early-ripening grapes like Merlot over the others. Blackberry and dried cherry segue to spice, tar, campfire ash and more sweet fruit. We're off to a great start, and this vintage of Ornellaia is surely destined to flesh out and grow more complex with age." Robert Parker

"Complex, sophisticated and harmonious, this pure red is marked by black currant, black cherry, cedar, iron and light spice flavors. Bright and focused, with refined tannins emerging on the spice-tinged finish. Discreet and stylish." Wine Spectator

"So aromatic and complex with blackcurrants, blueberries, fresh violets and lavender on the nose. Some graphite and iodine, too. Medium to full body with firm, chewy tannins that are polished and refined, yet the palate is so long and refined. This is an Ornellaia with strength in elegance." James Suckling

"The 2018 Ornellaia is an introvert at this stage. Medium in body, with terrific persistence and impeccable balance, the 2018 is not in any mood to show all its cards today. Hints of red berry fruit, mocha, spice, licorice and dried flowers emerge with a bit of coaxing. I won't be surprised to see it put on weight with more time in bottle. There is certainly plenty to look forward to. Readers should expect a silky, aromatic Ornellaia in line with vintages such as 2004 that are more about finesse than raw power. This is the first time in which Merlot drives the blend in Ornellaia." Vinous

“Ornellaia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018 · artist label “Vendemmia d’Artista - La Grazia“

We are pleased to be able to offer some copies of the special edition "La Grazia", which is strictly limited every year, as a 0.75l single bottle! This label is normally only reserved for bulk bottles, as well as the original 6-bottle wooden box each contains one of the bottles with the coveted collector's item.

The artist's edition "Vendemmia d'Artista" has been in existence since 2006. Since then, renowned artists have been invited each year to decorate a small edition of single and bulk bottles of Ornellaia. For the 2018 vintage, Belgian artist Jan Fabre was commissioned to design the limited labels. He explains: "I believe that art should combine ethical values and aesthetic principles. For this reason, I decided to use shapes such as the heart, crown, candle and wings in the sculptures for Ornellaia 2018. They are symbols of passion, virtue and purity, brought to life by the small branches and beads of red coral. And in 'A Candle of Mercy' or 'The Heart of Virtue' they melt away, like the melting magic of Ornellaia wine ...".

    • "Ornellaia" Bianco Toscana IGT 2018

      “Ornellaia” Bianco Toscana IGT 2018

Ornellaia Bianco is a cuvée of mainly Sauvignon Bianco from three selected, small vineyards of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia. It ferments on the lees for 10 months, which gives it freshness, precision and a fine citrus note. Delicate golden yellow. A cornucopia of bright fruits on the nose, along with wonderful mint and citrus notes. Complex, lush and multi-layered on the palate. One of the very great white wines of Italy, completely in the style of the house. SUPERIORE.DE

"The 2018 Ornellaia Bianco is the fruit of the longest harvest Sauvignon Blanc grapes ever at Ornellaia. The harvest began shortly after mid-August and ended on 12 September, when the last Sauvignon Blanc grapes were brought into the cellar. This wine presents itself in an intense straw yellow and unfolds aromas of exotic fruits on the nose, accompanied by delicate nuances of finely toasted vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense, with rich fruit, which is perfectly harmonised by a hearty acidity." Olga Fusari (Kellermeisterin Ornellaia)

"Rich and almost viscous in texture, this is a serious white from Tuscany, offering peach, melon, floral and thyme flavors that unfold gracefully on the palate, with hints of pine and sage. Shows excellent harmony and length." Wine Spectator

"The 2018 Ornellaia Bianco is a powerful, dense wine. Orchard fruit, chamomile, saline notes and dried flowers open in the glass, but only with great reluctance. A rich white, the 2018 Bianco possesses tremendous weight, but it is also very much closed in on itself. I am intrigued to see how the 2018 ages." Vinous

"This vintage shows the usual understated or slightly reserved character that we've seen in past editions. With a little prodding and swirling, the bouquet opens gradually to reveal a pretty assortment of d'Anjou pear, white peach, honeysuckle and toasted almond. The wine is fermented in oak, but malolactic fermentation does not occur. There are pretty dustings of saffron and crushed stone that hint at the evolution and elegance to come with extra time in the bottle." Robert Parker

"Dried apple, lemon, lime and lemon curd on the nose with hints of cedar. Medium-to full-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a fresh, vivid finish. The vanilla cream and sliced fruit are so enticing. Just a hint of wood character at the end. Needs time to come together." James Suckling

"Really beautiful second wine from Ornellaia with blackcurrant and blueberry aromas and flavors. Full body and round, soft tannins that caress the palate." James Suckling

“Ornellaia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2014 · MAGNUM in OWC

Complex, racy and delicate floral scent of fully ripe cherries and black berries with noble, optimally integrated wood aromas. The tremendously harmonious taste reveals an impeccable fruit, dense, juicy and powerful, with melt, present yet soft tannins and ends in a decidedly elegant finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"The year 2014 of Ornellaia has been, since we can remember, one of the most labour-intensive. Nevertheless, we were able to produce very attractive wines of high quality. The late ripening of the grapes has allowed the fruit to fully develop its vitality and freshness. What surprises you above all is the high quality of the tannin on the palate: soft, refined and without edges. This year represents the core of the winery's philosophy, „L‘ Essenza“ of Ornellaia: its natural style, the outstanding quality of its terroir and the skill of those who work in the vineyards and in the cellar". Axel Heinz, Director

"A rich, deep, dark ruby. Opened on the nose with intense toasted notes of dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts, followed by dark berry fruit, blackcurrant and elderberry. On the palate beautiful spice notes, much ripe, dark berry fruit, opens with present, gripping tannin, builds up well." Falstaff

"To be released in May 2017, the 2014 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia reverts to a style and personality that we have not seen in a long while. The wine shows a tight, silky and determined approach that reminds us of the Ornellaias made under the estate's previous ownership with the Marchese Lodovico Antinori in the mid-1990s. More than anything else, this has to do with the very unique characteristics of the 2014 growing season. The wine opens to a beautifully saturated and dark appearance. Thanks to the advanced age of the vines and their extensive root systems, fruit quality was well preserved despite the cool summer and late harvest. The wine shows sweet fruit nuances with blackberry and dark currant. Spice, leather and tobacco fill in the rear. The finish reveals just enough of that acidic prickle to assure an easy ten or fifteen year drinking window." Robert Parker

"A solid and structured red with tile, dark berry and black tea character and some cloves, too. Full body, tannic and rich. Needs time to soften. Well done for a 2014. Ornellaia shows its pedigree here." James Suckling

    • "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018 <br>MAGNUM in OWC

“Ornellaia” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC

A wine that lives up to its name "La Grazia" already in the bouquet.

    • "Ornellaia" Bianco Toscana IGT 2018 <br>MAGNUM in OWC

“Ornellaia” Bianco Toscana IGT 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC

Each original wooden box of 6 contains a bottle with the coveted collector's label "La Grazia". The artist's edition "Vendemmia d'Artista" has been around since 2006. Since then, renowned artists have been invited every year to design a small edition of labels for single and large bottles. For the 2018 vintage, the Belgian artist Jan Fabre was commissioned to develop this.

A wine that lives up to its name "La Grazia" already in the bouquet.

About the winemakersTenuta dell' OrnellaiaTuscany | Bolgheri
    Tenuta dell' Ornellaia

It is a model for viticulture in Italy, especially in Tuscany, and a brand that does not have to fear comparison with the largest wine houses in the world. We are talking about the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia. The importance of this picturesquely situated winery in Bolgheri has been growing for years. The house's wines were a safer investment than gold between 2007 and 2013. Moreover, price fluctuations were comparatively low. This has an investigation by the auction house Sotheby's and Liv-Ex, an international wine exchange in London. The exceptional Tuscan estate was founded in 1981 by Lodovico Antinori. Mondavi later took over the majority of the capital. Today the company belongs to the Florentine Frescobaldi family. The products of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia are enjoyed in 60 countries around the world, with an export quota of around 30 percent. The deliveries go to prestigious customers and important collectors. Demand regularly far exceeds bottle production.

The vineyards of this imaginative family-run business stretch partly along Via Bolgherese and in Bellaria, northwest of Bolgheri. The almost perfect winery relies on classic Bordeaux varieties in its plots. Depending on the subzone, the soils are of alluvial, volcanic or marine origin. The proximity of the sea and the protection provided by the neighbouring hills favour a microclimate in which the grapes can ripen perfectly. Gentle sea breezes soften the summer heat, in winter the hills protect against icy winds.

The elite wines of the Tenuta dell, blessed with expert staff'Ornellaia are flawless in their modern style and technique. They reflect the character of the terroir and the great skills of their producers. The grapes from each vineyard are fermented separately, as each base wine must express the different facets of its parcel of origin - the soil, the sunlight and the grape variety. Only after one year of barrel ripening are the wines „wedded“. Even in difficult years remarkable drops succeed in the good.

The prestigious winery not only produces wines of the highest quality, but also attaches great importance to culture. In 2009, for example, the Vendemmia d’Artista from the baptism lifted. Its aim is to revive the tradition of Renaissance patronage of the arts and to place it in a contemporary context each year with a strictly limited edition (large formats only). SUPERIORE.DE

"The Ornellaia is an immensely lavish wine with a wonderful depth of taste. The Masseto is usually more massive and powerful. Both are among the best (and most expensive) red wines in Italy. Even the second set, Le Serre Nuove and Le Volte, are delicious." The Great Johnson

"The Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is 91 hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (43 ha), Merlot (33 ha), Cabernet Franc (7 ha) and Petit Verdot (8 ha). At the moment only 76 hectares are in production: 30 hectares in the original vineyard, a further 46 hectares in the Bellaria vineyard just behind the end of Bolgheri, which has belonged to Tenuta since 1993. A revealing vertical sample of 10 Ornellaia vintages – presented by Leonardo Raspini, the director of the winery, in Zurich – showed that the quality of Ornellaia has improved markedly over the last few years thanks to the ageing of the vines, more rigorous restrictions on quantities and the introduction of a second wine. It could also be stated that the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia succeeds in producing remarkable wines even in difficult years."Weinwisser
