• "Villa Donoratico" Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2018
MAGNUM in OWC

“Villa Donoratico” Rosso Bolgheri DOC 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC

Rich, deep dark ruby. Dense and memorable nose, much currant. Builds up pleasant pressure on the palate. Ripe, dark berries and a smooth and dense tannin lead into a long finish. SUPERIORE.DE

"Dark shining garnet. Noble, dark berry nose, slightly leathery undertones, subtle spice, dried plum, ripe cherry, wild berries, complex. Shows up on the palate with tightly woven tannin, great structure, saline, punchy, spans a wide arc, long." Falstaff

"Deep crimson. Fragrant, sweet oak framing concentrated cherry and cassis fruit. Juicy dark-cherry and blackcurrant palate with a hint of red bell pepper and velvety, coating bitter-sweet tannins. International polish combined with Tuscan generosity of fruit." Jancis Robinson

"The 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Villa Donoratico comes from the middle of the estate portfolio. It offers good value and a little more heft and fruit concentration. This wine would enhance a plate of fried chicken or a grilled filet mignon, either way. The tannins are well managed and elegant. The wine hits the senses with bold cherry, cassis, spice and campfire ash." Robert Parker

"Very pretty aromas of berries, mushrooms and fresh herbs follow through to a full body with round, fine tannins and plenty of blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. Long and intense. The texture is beautiful in this wine." James Suckling

    • "Argentiera" Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

      “Argentiera” Bolgheri Superiore DOC 2017

Full-bodied, noble cuvée from the vineyard of the same name: aromas of red fruits, a light hint of roasted coffee, pepper and animal notes, an excellent tannin structure and a beautiful acidity give the "Bordeaux from Bolgheri" its exceptional independence and great elegance. SUPERIORE.DE

"Rich, dark ruby. Opens on the nose with notes of tobacco and some juniper, then lots of dark berry fruit, deep. Full and creamy on the palate, opens with grippy, pithy tannins, hints of licorice and wild berries, lots of sweet melting on the final." Falstaff

"This is a beautiful wine that is climbing fast on a podium of the best in Bolgheri. The wine opens to dark and sultry fruit with blackberry and dried currant. Those fruit tones are followed by spice, campfire ash and potting soil. The wine works up great momentum on the bouquet, but we get those astringent 2017 tannins on the close." Robert Parker

"Despite its position at the southern end of the appellation Tenuta Argentiera is one of the highest estates in Bolgheri, with vineyards between 120 and 240 metres above sea level providing the grapes for this wine. The altitude increases the night and day average temperature differences, improving phenolic ripeness. The conversion from cordon to guyot training is increasing the freshness of the grapes. In 2017 the winery decided to avoid the production of Ventaglio, the 100% Cabernet Franc cru. Argentiera, however, is really good, confirming the usual grace of the wine with more density and power. On the nose a funky note of merde de poule follows clean, dark fruits with buttery and slightly leafy aromas, while the firm yet ripe palate ends with a dark chocolate character." Decanter

"This is a big and impressive wine. No denying. Full body with such depth and power. Crazy. An endless finish." James Suckling

    • "Lavinia Maria" Cabernet Toscana IGT 2011
0,75l in OWC

“Lavinia Maria” Cabernet Toscana IGT 2011 · 0,75l in OWC

The youngest scion of this exceptional winery is a pure Cabernet Franc: intense fruity bouquet of blackberry and blackcurrant, spicy notes such as black pepper, laurel and nutmeg, with elegant ethereal notes. Full, smooth and harmonious on the palate, the tannins silky-sweet, generous and long-lasting. The finale is reminiscent of a fresh sea breeze. Exquisite! SUPERIORE.DE

"Deep dark, rich ruby violet. Very compact nose with intense dark berry fruit, hints of blackberries and blueberries, underlaid with rich liquorice. Fine-grained tannin present on the palate, builds up in many layers, in the aftertaste full of liquorice and plums, blooms again after a longer aeration." Falstaff

"Dense, with black cherry, black currant, sweet spice and licorice flavors, this red is vibrant and harmonious. The tannins are thickset, yet civilized and integrated with the texture. Monolithic now, so be patient." Wine Spectator

"Exotic blueberry with inky concentration and graphite, espresso and gravel. Well-endowed but stylish tannins. Truly exceptional." James Suckling

    About the winemakersArgentieraTuscany | Bolgheri
    Argentiera

Of all the wineries in the Bolgheri DOC, Tenuta Argentiera, located on a small plateau in the extreme south and surrounded by a varied natural environment, is the closest to the sea. From the top of the vineyards you have a wonderful view over Baratti in the south to Castiglioncello in the north, complemented by the panorama of the archipelago of Elba, Gorgona, Capraia with Corsica in the background. In Etruscan times, the plateau of the estate was home to natural springs and silver mines - hence the name Argentiera (Italian: Argento/Silver). Formerly owned by the influential Florentine noble family Serristorti and part of the ancient Donoratico estate, the winery, located between Livorno and Grosseto, is now a reference point for the Tuscan cultivation zone.

With plants of extraordinary elegance and great suppleness, the still very young winery has acquired its reputation as one of the most prestigious addresses in the Bolgheri region within just a few years. The fact that the first bottling in the Tenuta Argentiera was already a great success is thanks to Piero Antinori, a famous partner who brought all his experience to the new project and who is jointly responsible for the quality of the wines improving year after year. The 80 hectares of vineyards are almost ideally located and some of the most beautiful in the area. They are by far the highest cultivated areas in the Bolgheri DOC. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah thrive on the mostly clayey soils with considerable amounts of gravel. Since 2016, Stanislaus Turnauer, the owner of Tenuta Argentiera, has been responsible for the fate of the winery.

The grapes, selected by hand, are processed with the greatest care in the magnificent and generously designed winery. More than a thousand barrique barrels made of French oak wood are stored in the rooms intended for the maturation of the plants. The wines of the house are the logical consequence of the very high-quality berries and their unerring interpretation. Very often the prestige wine Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a small amount of Cabernet Franc, is highly appreciated by the critics' guild. A few years ago, two immaculate single vineyard wines - Giorgio Bartholomäus (Merlot) and Ophelia Maria, made from Cabernet Sauvignon, joined this top-quality plant. The youngest offspring of the noble bottle family is the pure Cabernet Franc Lavinia Maria, which convinced the critics from a standing start. SUPERIORE.DE

"In 2002 the first Argentiera was produced, an elegant cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc - a vertical starter."Falstaff
