      This dry Gewürztraminer from the Pirchschrait vineyard near Kolbenhof is intended as a homage to Konrad Oberhofer, who was the first to vinify the grapes of individual vineyards separately in the 1930s. The grandfather of Martin Foradori Hofstätter was a pioneer of thinking in plots. His aim was to make it possible to experience the special character of each location in the wine.

      After ten years of maturation on the fine yeast in 500 litre barrels, the Gewürztraminer develops a dense texture without losing freshness. The fine yeast also gives it a charming aroma of toasted bread, medlars, blossom honey and dried fruits. On the other hand, the fruit sweetness, which is already low, declines discreetly in the years of ripening, while the minerality gains expression.       At the end of the 19th century, Ludwig Barth, a university professor with a love of wine, had built the estate of the same name in Mazon and planted the Pinot Noir vine there for the first time, with success, as it turned out. The year 2012 was very good for the Pinot Noir and for the Roccolo vineyard at the Barthenau estate on the Mazon plateau. Particularly rich grapes from vines that are over 70 years old and climb on the traditional pergola should be reserved for a new top wine. They were harvested separately, pressed separately and matured in small oak barrels and are only used in the best vintages to produce the single vineyard wine "Roccolo".

      It convinces with its smooth, filigree acid structure, the backbone of every Burgundy. Martin Foradori's "Burgundy instinct" had shown him the right way, working until late in the evening had been worthwhile.
