"Terminum" Gewürztraminer Passito Alto Adige DOC 2017

Floral bouquet with hints of candied fruits with fine herbal spice. At the palate much sweet yellow fruit and a restrained almond note. Full-bodied, creamy taste of orange zest, some cinnamon and white pepper. The finish is long and compact with candy fruit and saffron. One could call it sensory overload, but no: It is a highly elegant, polyphonic symphony concert with several encores and standing ovations! SUPERIORE.DE

"Brilliant, rich golden yellow. Very intense and appealing nose, of yellow rose petals, rhubarb compote, ginger and grapefruit. Good play between sweetness and acidity on the palate, flows quietly, fills the mouth great but without becoming baroque, spicy notes in the finish." Falstaff

"The 2017 Terminum Vendemmia Tardiva is a late-harvest Gewürztraminer from Cantina Tramin. Here I’m finding a zesty display of sweet exotic florals and spice offsetting notes of dried peaches and apricot. Its textures are velvety verging on glycerol, showing amazing concentration yet remaining balanced throughout. The dried fruit component continues from start to finish, feeling quite fleshy and taking on a tropical note toward the finale. Hints of butterscotch linger, but the endnote here is how refreshed the Terminum leaves you feeling." Vinous

"As the saying goes, good things come in small packages. The Cantina Tramin 2017 Alto Adige Gewürztraminer Vendemmia Tardiva Terminum is made with late-harvest fruit. The wine is packaged in a 375-milliliter bottle and only 4,200 bottles exist. The barrique-aged wine opens to a dark golden color with amber and copper highlights. It would be impossible to exaggerate the intensity of the honey, dried apricot and candied fruit aromas that rise from the bouquet. The one-hectare vineyard is located at a high 450 meters above sea level. The fruit is left to dry on the vines, and only when Botrytis cinerea (or the so-called "noble rot") appears are the grapes ready for harvest. The botrytis serves to safeguard the grape's natural acidity, and it shapes the high-toned and lifted aromas of the bouquet. This wine is simply gorgeous." Robert Parker
