“Mamaioa” Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2018 (BIO)
The name Mamaioa (ladybird) stands for luck and in this case untouched nature. On clayey limestone soils, the vines, cultivated according to strict organic principles, are the origin of the grapes for this cheerful and very tasty red wine. Ruby red with violet reflections. Fruity, fresh bouquet of red fruits and meadow herbs. Soft, juicy and precise on the palate. Its fine liquorice note and well-dosed tannin make it an ideal accompaniment to light meat and poultry dishes. SUPERIORE.DE
Unfiltered and without added sulphite!
"There’s real concentration to the nose, but also freshness with buttercups, dried daffodils, peaches and mangoes. This has a waxy, fleshy feel on the full-bodied palate, though there’s nothing overripe and the finely tuned acidity hones in the otherwise voluptuous shape." James Suckling

“Antico Gregori” Vernaccia di Oristano DOC s. a.
Vernaccia di Oristano Antico Gregori - a breathtaking blend of the best vintages. The base dates back to the beginning of the last century and has been refilled with the best Vernaccia selections from Contini. SUPERIORE.DE
"Armagnac-brown, sweet, intense, multi-layered nose, very inviting; powerful, mouth filling, great acidity, sweeping, pile and nutty taste, stays in the mouth for minutes; incredible wine! ... impossible not to pause during the tasting to enjoy this wine." Merum
"This is a precious, rare and, yes, costly Vernaccia that merits a closer look. This very unusual wine, the NV Vernaccia di Oristano Antico Gregori, is a cuvée of the best vintages spanning back over the past 40 years. It ages in oak, with some of it spending up to four decades in the barrel, producing a sweet wine that opens to a dark amber color with aromas of dried figs, honey, apricots and candied orange peel. It clocks in with a 18.5% alcohol content, about the same as your average Port, positioning it a digestif to be consumed on its own, or with a cigar. Only 1,000 bottles were made, and each one will pass the test of time because this wine is timeless in heart and soul." Robert Parker

“Antico Gregori” Vernaccia di Oristano DOC 1976
Vernaccia di Oristano Antico Gregori was not only named dessert wine of the year in the Gambero Rosso 2021, but also in this edition the 1976 vintage. Since this year it was possible to fill a little more than in other years, this year the usual assemblage of the best vintages of the last century was dispensed with. Nevertheless or exactly because of this it became a breathtaking wine, which leaves nothing to be desired in terms of intensity, maturity and depth! SUPERIORE.DE

At the Azienda Vinicola Attilio Contini wine connoisseurs involuntarily think of the legendary Vernaccia di Oristano. Located near Cabras, a medieval fishing village on the west coast of Sardinia in the province of Oristano and founded by Salvatore Contini about 120 years ago, the family winery continues to offer this glorious and originally most important, but less and less traded fine wine as a speciality. In the course of time, however, other wines of high quality full of character have found their way into the now very extensive range of Attilio Contini. The oldest winery on the Mediterranean island has undergone many changes and innovations in the course of its history. Today he is very passionately and competently continued by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren according to the local tradition of his founder.
Just a few kilometres from Oristano, the winery with its 80 hectares of vineyards is situated in the heart of the Sinis Peninsula marine reserve. The sun-drenched fields rise above the Tirso valley and are located on the slopes of Monte Arci. A fresh sea breeze gives the Attilio Contini wines a slightly salty minerality. In the 1980s, the family began to explore the potential of historical autochthonous grape varieties. It has been instrumental in upgrading Sardinian varieties such as Cannonau and Vermentino. The extremely interesting, but not very widespread Nieddera have saved the Continis from oblivion, along with a few other winegrowers from Sardinia.
With no prejudice to the merits of modern wine-growing technology, Attilio Contini continues the tradition of progress. The winery is known for special, very fascinating wines of high expressiveness. The spectrum of typical and terroir-true labels is broad: it ranges from old Vernaccia Riserve to impressive red and white plants. In order to underline a special closeness to nature, some wines without sulphite additives are produced in the cellar under the aegis of the creative and innovative oenologist Piero Cella.
The long history of Attilio Contini has always been accompanied by a great deal of attention and recognition from the wine critics. Already in 1912 and 1913 Vernaccia wines of the family were awarded gold medals at the International Exhibition in Milan. In 1989 the wine guide Gambero Rossoselected the winery as the first Sardinian winery with the coveted Tre bicchieri. SUPERIORE.DE
