In 1480 the 'Castello Monaci' was built in Salice Salentino. The Saracca family founded the wine house of the same name in 1970. Today the winery, with its 150 hectares of vineyards, is part of the Gruppo Italiano Vini conglomerate. The narrow peninsula of Salento is surrounded by the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea. Soil and climate offer enviable conditions for viticulture. The native varieties Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera thrive in the vineyards. The innovative winery produces wines that give full expression to the power and sun of Apulia. SUPERIORE.DE
"At the gates of Salice Salentino stands the imposing Norman Castello, the headquarters of the winery now owned by Gruppo Italiano Vini. The extensive vineyard gardens that belong to it extend all around. Their soil is divided into a nutrient-rich layer and a rather deep rock layer, which ensures a good water drainage."Gambero Rosso 2011
