    Cantina Due Palme

    The cooperative's 45,000 square metre premises used to be home to two palm trees and an inconspicuous farmhouse. Only the „Due Palm“ still flank the main entrance of the cooperative winery today as trademarks and namesakes. The Cantine Due Palme, located in Cellino San Marco in the province of Brindisi in Apulia, has grown rapidly and, under the leadership of its president and oenologist Angelo Maci, counts today around 1,200 members after numerous takeovers - including the historic Cantina Sociale Riforma Fondiaria di Cellino San Marco. Thus the winery joins the ranks of the most important producers of quality wines in southern Italy. The grapes, supplied by small winegrowers from the provinces of Brindisi, Lecce and Taranto, produce wines with a modern interpretation, high density and concentration, which retain their classic personality with a sweet, ripe fruit. The Cantine Due Palme wines have been offering consumers consistency and authenticity at a high level for years.

    The president of the cooperative, who comes from the third generation of a winegrowing family, has been able to persuade even long-established cooperative members to optimise their work in the 30- to 50-year-old vineyards, which are completely spared from pesticides, in favour of grape quality. Maci, the tireless pioneer in quality and innovation, is also responsible for protecting the Salento wine territory and preserving traditional Alberello vineyards. The main focus continues to be on outstanding autochthonous grape varieties such as the irresistible Negroamaro and the rediscovered and almost extinct Susumaniello.

    Since the 1990s, Cantine Due Palme has seen significant investment, which has led the company to a significant growth, development, technology and sustainable production. Today, 25 wines are vinified in the modern cellar, 90 percent of which consist of red grape varieties. The showpiece of the Apulian cooperative is the Salice Salentino Rosso Selvarossa Riserva.
