Freisa Langhe DOC 2019 vivace
The grapes for this very traditional Piedmont red wine come from selected vineyard sites on the hills of the Langhe region. The special thing about the vinification: a small part of the mash is frozen unfermented. The alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks lasts about two weeks, with very little handling and agitation of the mash. Then, without the addition of sulphurous acid, the young wine is moved to a wooden barrel where the malolactic fermentation takes place. Once this is complete, the previously frozen portion of unfermented must is added and the wine is bottled in this way. A second fermentation now takes place in the bottle, whereby these are placed upright so that the yeast deposit settles on the bottom of the bottle.
Deep ruby red. Intense aroma with fruity red and black berries and floral notes as well as nuances of asphalt. Powerful on the nose, full-bodied, with prominent tannin and fresh acidity on the palate. Fine perlage and a long, persistent final.
Please note that this wine should always be stored standing up. Also, care should be taken when opening, as the pressure may vary from bottle to bottle due to the carbonic acid naturally produced in the wine. SUPERIORE.DE

“Tre Vigne” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021
The grapes for the Barbera d'Alba Tre Vigne, which impresses every year, come mainly from vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, with a small proportion of the fruit coming from Ravera. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, leather, liquorice, spices and menthol are presented here in an intoxicating, exotically ripe wine that is a joy to drink even at a young age. Tre Vigne Barbera is lush and racy to the core and shines from start to finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Barbera d'Asti Tre Vigne is a fabulous, explosive wine. Sumptuous dark cherry, ripe plum, mocha, licorice and new leather are all dialed up to the maximum. This racy, deep Barbera is tremendous. For its quality-to-price ratio, the Asti Tre Vigne might be the wine of the year at Vietti." Vinous
"Notes of ripe plums and blackberries with dark, spicy chocolate, damp bark and wet tarmac. Juicy and racy on the palate with medium to full body and lively acidity. Exciting with dusty tannins and a seamless, long finish." James Suckling
"The Tre Vigne Barbera impresses year after year. This 2021 is full of ripe and macerated black cherries with sweet and savoury spices coming in and out. As it progresses, earthy and floral flavours develop, pampering the palate with tart blackberries, allspice and bay leaves, while the finish is accompanied by a strong acidity." Wine Enthusiast

“Perbacco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2021
This highly convincing red from Vietti is a stylish Langhe with an elegant bouquet and a powerful palate. Bright ruby red in the glass, it has tell-tale Nebbiolo aromas of rosehip and orange peel. The strawberry fruit is accompanied by firm, polished tannins, crisp acidity and an amazing rhubarb flavour that carries through the finish. It comes from a selection of grapes grown in both Barolo and Barbaresco, mostly on the classic combination of limestone and clay. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is an especially nervy edition of the Perbacco, the result of a significant presence of Monforte fruit in the blend. Notes of red fruit, orange peel and white pepper sculpt the 2021, finishing with notable tension." Vinous

Derthona Timorasso Colli Tortonesi DOC 2021
The still young DOC Colli Tortonesi is probably still one of the least known wine regions in Piedmont. The term Derthona is already used as a generic term. It is the old name for Tortona, a small village in the centre of the DOC. The indigenous white grape variety Timorasso led a shadowy existence for many years, but today some winegrowers are already calling it the "white Barolo". This is partly due to its great complexity and finesse and partly due to the excellent ageing potential of the wines. In addition, the grapes often vary in size and ripeness during the harvest, which makes selection a major challenge, just as with the great Nebbiolo crus.
Light yellow in colour, tending towards golden as it matures in the bottle. The nose is very fresh, floral and fruity, with some orange confit, petrol and honey. Rich and deep on the palate, with an almost Riesling-like minerality and fine acid wire. With increasing aeration, it becomes more multi-layered, complex and surprisingly deep, hinting at the great potential of the grape variety. Not an off-the-peg wine, but all the more convincing for those wine lovers who expect character, personality and a high degree of independence from a white wine. For us, Timorasso is THE white grape variety discovery of recent years and Vietti's new addition, alongside the whites from Roagna and Walter Massa, is an excellent example of how Italian white wines can play at the very top of the international league! SUPERIORE.DE
"Sparkling straw yellow with green reflections. Initially restrained on the nose, with air some banana, hazelnut and lactic hints appear, subtly reminiscent of vanilla yoghurt. More citrus fruit on the palate, fresh and lively, vibrant acidity, salty, lingering final." Falstaff
"Vietti's 2021 Timorasso is gorgeous. The first vintages here were decidedly rustic, but the 2021 shows an added level of textural finesse that is especially apparent in its contours. Hints of lemon peel, white flowers, mint and chamomile all grace this layered, super expressive white. The 2021 was fermented mostly in ceramic and steel, with just one lot done in wood. I have never been the biggest fan of the Vietti Timorasso, but the 2021 might make me change my mind. It's a gorgeous wine in every way." Vinous
"A beautiful Timorasso with aromas and flavours of salted caramel, sliced mango, pear and apple. Medium to full body. Bright and lively acidity on the finish. A nice combination of ripe fruit and wild, crisp acidity." James Suckling
"Timorasso is one of the most distinctive white grape varieties in the Italian canon, and Vietti has hit the bull's eye. Aromas of fresh and baked yellow peaches and spiced pears mingle with hints of petrol, magnolia and dried mango. Wild honey, beeswax and a chalky minerality give this wine volume, complexity and depth, finishing with a fresh and lively acidity." Wine Enthusiast

“Vigna Scarrone” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO)
Barbera d'Alba Scarrone from the vineyard of the same name is a beautifully complex, rich Barbera cru. Aromas of dark, fragrant fruit, spices, liquorice and minerals. Opulent and impeccably balanced, silky tannins, sweet floral notes on the long, dry finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Spicy, with flavours of black cherry, violet, cumin and cardamom and a hint of toasted oak. Fresh and harmonious, with a long-lasting finish." Wine Spectator
"Lots of black berries and black liquorice on the nose, medium body, very fine tannins and a fresh and lively finish. Fine texture." James Suckling
"The 2021 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone is dense, plush and explosive. A rush of dark red cherry/plum fruit, mocha, licorice, spice, rose petal and a kick of French oak all build in the glass. Potent and quite deep, the Scarrone is another lights-out Barbera from Vietti. In recent years, the Scarrone has come along very well." Vinous

“La Crena” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2021 (BIO)
Every year, La Crena is one of the best and most refined Barbera wines that Piedmont produces. The vines in the Vigna del Nove parcel date back to the 1930s. This vintage will also need many years to develop its full expressiveness, but that's the way it is and we love this crazy development potential so much. La Crena is creamy and rich in the glass, dense, very concentrated with an abundance of layers of fruit that only develop fully with further years of ageing and make for an energetic, exciting wine. SUPERIORE.DE
"Opulent nose, with dark fruits tempered with some stylish oak. Suave and juicy, fine texture, balanced by firm acidity, which gives some spice and flair to the finish. Vincenzo Arnese: Candied aromas of Morello cherry and wild strawberry, very expressive. Bold palate with robust tannins; time will smooth it, yet quite rich and pleasant." Decanter
"The 2021 Barbera d'Asti La Crena is exceptional. Bright, red-toned fruit, chalk, mint, white pepper and rose petal are all beautifully delineated. In recent times Vietti has focused more on freshness in their Barberas, and that is especially evident in La Crena—a wine that used to be very dark and heavy but is far from that today. Clean, mineral notes extend the vibrant finish. Give this a few years to develop the full range of its aromatic breadth. What a wine!" Vinous

“Perbacco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2020 · MAGNUM in gift box
Perbacco shows in the fresh bouquet first slightly leafy notes, then lots of cherry. On the palate nicely round, lots of ripe fruit, of cherries and red berries, underpinned by fine-grained tannin, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco offers bright fruit and dried blueberries with hints of cherry wood and spice. The effect is mild but well balanced, and the wine enhances its food friendliness with fresh acidity to cut through cream or cheese." Wine Advocate
"The Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco 2020 is another excellent entry-level wine from Vietti. In this vintage, the Perbacco is particularly fine. Sweet dried cherries, herbs, mint, crushed flowers, anise and orange peel adorn this distinctive, seductive Nebbiolo. It has enormous depth. For years, Perbacco was a very serious wine - some would say almost too serious - for its peers. Then Vietti switched to a simpler style. With the 2020, Perbacco again seems to be a wine that exceeds expectations, and exceeds them in spades. Frankly, the 2020 is more satisfying than many Barbarescos and Barolos I've tasted this year." Vinous
"This is a fresh and fruit-driven Nebbiolo with notes of raspberries and cherries, orange peel and chocolate. Also some dried flowers. Medium to full-bodied, firm and racy with ripe but tight, compact tannins that run the length of the wine. Well crafted. Long and even." James Suckling
"From the moment the cork is pulled you will be smitten with aromas of cherry, wild herbs, dried rose and anise enticing you to the glass. The wine delivers fresh and clear red-berried fruit snuggled with sweet and savory spices finishing with crunchy acidity begging you to take that next sip." Wine Enthusiast

“Scarrone Vigna Vecchia” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO)
Complex aromas with notes of wild berries, chocolate and mint, plenty of power, fruit and fullness on the palate, spicy and opulent final. A Barbera that can and should mature. The small edition of this exquisite extract from just under 1.4 hectares of vineyard usually sells out in no time at all. SUPERIORE.DE
"A smooth, lively red wine with sweet spices centred around a core of plum, black cherry and blueberry. Smooth in texture, with a line of dusty tannins on the finish. Balanced, just needs time. Decant now." Wine Spectator
"Floral aromas with sandalwood to the character of black berries and black cherries. Medium-bodied with firm and racy tannins. A juicy and bright finish. 50% of the vineyards were planted in 1918." James Suckling
"The 2021 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia is endowed with tremendous depth and resonance. Black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and chocolate are all dialed up to the maximum. The Vigna Vecchia is the most extracted of the Vietti Barberas. As such, it also retains the clearest link to the wines of the past. It's a fine effort to be sure, but it is not meaningfully better than the straight Scarrone." Vinous

Barolo “Castiglione” DOCG 2019
Barolo Castiglione is made from a large number of plots across the Barolo zone, many of which are of such high quality that they could be bottled separately. The 2019 vintage is beautiful in the way it combines the vibrancy of the year with a soft, inviting textural presence. Fresh cut flowers, mint, sweet spices, anise and red berries are beautifully woven together in the glass. As the wine progresses, it shines with exquisite finesse, floral aromas and an exquisite overall balance. Ripe, silky tannins support the impressive finish. The 2019 release gives a first glimpse of how great this vintage is at Vietti. This is first-class stuff. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright ruby red with garnet. In the nose of medium expression, fine earthy hints, sealing wax, ripe raspberries and cranberries, noble wood, fine flower in the reverberation. On the palate powerful, with tightly woven tannin and clearly worked out fruit core, currently still young with delicate wide-meshedness, on earthy tones in the final." Falstaff
"The 2019 Barolo Castiglione is elegant, translucent and classy. Crushed red berry fruit, orange peel, mint and cinnamon grace this elegant, wonderfully nuanced Barolo from Vietti. I particularly admire the energy here. In many vintages, Castiglione is light and approachable, but I think the 2019 needs a few more years to come into its own. I particularly admire its focus and polish." Vinous
"Extremely fragrant of hibiscus, flowers and watermelon with some fresh cherries. Medium body with chewy, polished tannins and a fresh and lively finish. Very solid. Made from about 20 different vineyards. Needs time to mellow." James Suckling
"The 2019 Barolo Castiglione is a complex and generous wine that reflects the main characteristics of this very successful vintage. As this wine does not come from a single site, it speaks to the quality of the vintage rather than a specific vineyard. The Castiglione shows generous richness and concentrated cherry fruit with dark saturation and good structure from the thicker skins that the Nebbiolo grapes developed this year. It finishes with a salty mineral note that gives it focus and elegance." Wine Advocate

Barbaresco Roncaglie “Masseria” DOCG 2018
First bottled in 1967, the Masseria comes from a vineyard in Bricco di Neive and is essentially vinified and aged like a Barolo. The 2018 vintage - now for the first time from a small parcel that used to belong to the Barbaresco winery Socré - was also deliberately released a year later to provide more harmony and balance. Vietti's Masseria is always delicate and refined, and this is all the more true for the current vintage.
On the nose, aromas of red fruits, especially blackberries and currants, but also earthy and bloody notes. In the mouth, the polished and shiny tannins typical of the vineyard, framed by a very vertical and precise fruit and herbaceous nuances. In the long finish, a wonderful freshness, then subtle notes of menthol and again this fascinating herbal spiciness. Truly a leap in quality - Luca Currado and his team have once again done everything right. SUPERIORE.DE
"Shiny, medium dense ruby garnet. Clearly marked nose with notes of ripe raspberries and strawberries, some pomegranate and leather. Pithy, savoury tannin characterises the course on the palate, lots of cherry fruit." Falstaff
"Starts with earthy aromas giving way to cherry, raspberry and savory hay and eucalyptus flavors, with more fruit coming to the fore with time in glass. Solidly built, this is dense, racy and compact on the menthol finish." Wine Spectator
"This wine shows its MGA name "Roncaglie" on the front label for the first time. That's because Vietti recently acquired additional land in this cru site. The total holdings now span two hectares of vines. The 2018 Barbaresco Roncaglie Masseria is made as if it were a Barolo (instead of a Barbaresco) and is released one year after its peers. It shows tart fruit and dried cranberry with some mild spice and tarry smoke from two years in large oak casks. Exactly 5,026 bottles were made." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Barbaresco Masseria Roncaglie is a captivating, layered wine full of character. Effusive aromatics make a strong opening impression. Rose petal, lavender, sage, blood orange and red berry fruit all run through this vibrant, focused Barbaresco. The 2018 is charming and nuanced from start to finish. This is the first vintage from a parcel that previously belonged to Socré. It's an impressive debut, to say the least. All this nervy Barbaresco needs is time." Vinous

“Vigna Scarrone” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
Barbera d'Alba Scarrone from the vineyard of the same name is a beautifully layered, rich Barbera cru. Aromas of dark fragrant fruits, spices, liquorice and minerals. Opulent and impeccably balanced silky tannins, sweet floral notes in the long dry finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"Lifted and very aromatic, this wine tantalizes with notes of macerated cherries, wild rose, sandalwood, star anise and wild herbs working with such harmony you have trouble taking the first sip. The lush and round palate bursts with plush red-berried fruits that give way to savory and warm spicy notes finishing with fresh earth notes." Wine Enthusiast
"Deep and intense on the nose with red and dark berries, spicy herbs, dark chocolate and burnt orange peel. Also some wet earth. Full and complex with dusty tannins and a meaty juiciness. Long lasting and bright." James Suckling
"Part of the Scarrone vineyard was replanted in 1989, and from these younger vines comes the Vietti 2020 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone. This wine is also dense and darkly concentrated, but not to the same extent as the version made from the fruit of the old vines. Dark fruits, baked plums and sweet spices add dimension and volume to this wine." Wine Advocate
"The 2020 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone is outstanding. Rich and expansive, the 2020 is infused with the essence of dark cherry fruit, rose petals, cinnamon, leather and mocha take centre stage. All the elements come together so effortlessly. On the finish, floral and spicy notes reappear. This is such a noble and polished Barbera." Vinous

“La Crena” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in OWC
The extremely complex Barbera d'Asti La Crena comes from vines up to 90 years old in the heart of the Nizza Monferrato region and smells of ripe red fruits, hay and pastries. The full-bodied, warm taste lingers long with plenty of dark fruit, well-proportioned acidity and fine cocoa tones. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Vietti 2018 Barbera d'Asti La Crena sees its fruit sourced from very old vines with some of the plants approaching the 100-year-old mark. This is a rich and darkly concentrated wine with a lovely bouquet that is lifted and bright. The wine reveals dark cherry fruit, raw blackberry and plum. That opulent, old-vine fruit drowns out much of the acidic sharpness of the grape." Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Barbera d'Asti La Crena is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Readers should be in no rush here. In 2019, La Crena is a bit reticent and less opulent than it can be, but then again, this is a wine that only blossoms with a few years in bottle. Inky dark fruit, gravel, smoke, crushed rocks, spice and lavender open with air, but only reluctantly. The 2018 will be a jewel for those who can wait." Vinous

Barolo “Castiglione” DOCG 2018 · MAGNUM in gift box
Barolo Castiglione 2018 is bright, fresh and clearly defined. Crushed red berry fruit, white pepper, chalk, mint and rose petals run through this beautifully shaped Barolo. The purity of the fruit and overall energy are captivating. Castiglione is Vietti's entry-level Barolo and is always the most approachable in the bottle range, but this vintage shows a higher level of intensity, complexity and freshness. The silky tannins are accompanied by a lovely mentholated brightness into a beautiful finish. A very down-to-earth drop that unmistakably shows off its charm. SUPERIORE.DE
"Bright, sparkling ruby red with a shimmering core. Smells noble and fine on the nose of mint, raspberry, dried orange, fine floral components in the reverberation. Compact, juicy on the palate, comes along with gripping tannin, still needs time." Falstaff
"Plenty of wild-berry character to the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with good fruit focus and firm tannin that will need a year or two to soften. Bright and youthful. Give it time. Best from 2024." James Suckling
"The 2018 Barolo Castiglione is bright, fresh and delineated. Crushed red berry fruit, white pepper, chalk, mint and rose petal all run through this gorgeous, sculpted Barolo. The purity of the fruit and overall energy here are captivating. I would cellar the 2018 for at least a few years. It's a gorgeous wine in the making." Vinous
"Vietti has the enormous advantage of 10 MGA sites at its disposition for blending purposes. This allows them to select the fruit they want to best express any one vintage. The 2018 Barolo Castiglione draws upon those 10 sites (including the recent additions of Mosconi, Ginestra, Bricco Ravera and Briccolina) to make what is ultimately its best-selling wine. This classic rendition is tonic and clean with varietal tones of wild berry, rose and rusty nail." Wine Advocate
"The classic Barolo by Vietti, from a selection of grapes chosen amongst different vineyards in Barolo area, mainly from Villero and Ravera crus (Castiglione Falletto and Novello municipalities), specifically for 2018 vintage. Calcareous-clay soils. Sour cherry on the nose, notes of star anise and wild rose, with a finish to the notes of undergrowth. Sip with fine and iodine tannins, nice persistence and fruity-floral return." Luca Gardini

“Vigna Scarrone” Barbera d’Alba DOC 2021 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC

“La Crena” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2020 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC
The extremely complex Barbera d'Asti La Crena comes from vines up to 90 years old in the heart of the Nizza Monferrato region and smells of ripe red fruits, hay and pastries. The full-bodied, warm taste lingers long with plenty of dark fruit, well-proportioned acidity and fine cocoa tones. SUPERIORE.DE
"Barbera from Asti is noticeably different from Barbera from Alba. You will recognize Asti for the brighter aromas, the tart fruit flavors and the freshness. The Vietti 2020 Barbera d'Asti La Crena makes this point with lifted aromas of sour cherry, unripe plum and pomegranate seed. The wine remains juicy and very fruit-forward, but the high tones are given more prominence here." Wine Advocate
"Notes of candied dark berries, chocolate, roasted spices and burnt orange peel. Full-bodied and intense with a toasted, chocolaty character. The juicy fruit is supported by a bed of broad but soft tannins. Long finish." James Suckling
"The Barbera d'Asti La Crena 2020 is soft and lush from the start. In this vintage, the La Crena is particularly forward and fruit-driven. The 2020 needs at least a couple of years to fully develop the classic aromas and flavours of La Crena. Hints of gravel, crushed rock and dried herbs hint at what is to come. La Crena usually blossoms with time in the bottle. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case here too." Vinous

“La Crena” Barbera d’Asti DOCG 2021 (BIO) · MAGNUM in OWC

Barolo Riserva DOCG 2015
This debut vintage from Vietti was refined for two years in large wooden barrels, then in steel tanks and then for several years in the bottle. A classic bouquet of wild berries, cherries and rose petals. Rusty minerals are accompanied by violets and candied orange peel. Juicy on the palate and extremely fresh and agile for its age, with wonderful balance and equilibrium. An inspiring wine that still has many good years ahead of it, but is already completely convincing today. SUPERIORE.DE
"The Barolo Riserva 2015 is a new wine from Vietti, conceived as an annually changing assemblage, a sort of Riserva of Castiglione, a Barolo made from the many lots available to Vietti. Exotic red fruits, blood orange, spices, leather and cedar wood are some of the aromas and flavours that emerge from the glass. The 2015 shows the aromatic complexity of a wine that has been in bottle for several years, of course it does not offer the uniqueness of the designated vineyards. I wouldn't be surprised if this bottling gets even better in future vintages when the direction is even more clearly defined." Vinous
"Aromas of aniseed, white truffle, raspberries and fresh plums. Full-bodied but restrained and nicely framed with fine tannins. Beginning to show some aged, developed flavours. This is the first vintage. It comes from the Scarrone and Fiasco vineyards. Try it after 2026, but it will drink beautifully with a few hours of decanting." James Suckling
"Here is an exciting new submission from Vietti that takes us to a whole other level (and evolutionary timeframe). The 2015 Barolo Riserva is a very late release, held back at the winery, with fruit sourced exclusively from Castiglione Falletto. In fact, it represents a special part of the best vineyards used for Barolo Castiglione. Some of these grapes were so impressive that it was decided to age them longer (up to 30 months in large oak barrels) and give them the Riserva designation. The grapes come mainly from Scarrone and Bric del Fiasc. The production is 5,000 bottles. The wine shows a wonderful elegance, with developed fruit flavours and melting tannins. The nice thing is that you can drink this wine the same day you buy it." Wine Advocate
"A rich, round profile carries ripe aromas and flavours of cherry, plum, rose and sweet spice, with grace notes of wild herbs and autumn wood. This wine is perfectly balanced, with fine, resonant tannins and a lingering aftertaste that reflects ripe fruit and vanilla and adds a mineral element. Complex and approachable now with decanting." “Perbacco” Nebbiolo Langhe DOC 2019 · Double MAGNUM in OWC
Perbacco shows in the fresh bouquet first slightly leafy notes, then lots of cherry. On the palate nicely round, lots of ripe fruit, of cherries and red berries, underpinned by fine-grained tannin, long finish. SUPERIORE.DE
"The 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco shows a rusty or earthy side that feels more pronounced in this vintage. This wine represents an assembly of all the wine that is left over after the final blend of the Barolo Castiglione is confirmed. With a silky, lean texture, Perbacco is a good introduction to Nebbiolo." Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is a fabulous introduction to the vintage. Rich, sumptuous and layered, with terrific depth. There's real texture and depth here. Crushed raspberry, mint and blood orange. Over the last few years vineyard sources have been upgraded, and it shows, big time. Most of this fruit is from Barolo-designated vineyards." Vinous

Barolo “Castiglione” DOCG 2019 · MAGNUM

The Vietti winery is located in the historic centre of the picturesque wine village of Castiglione Falletto in the middle of the impressive hilly landscape of Barolo. Since the end of the 19th century, this traditional company, which was founded by Carlo Vietti, has been producing exceptional wines. Today, Vietti is owned by the Krause family (USA), who already own the Barolo winery Enrico Serafino.
Location? Exclusive & rare!
Vietti is probably the only producer in the Langhe to boast the best vineyards, such as Rocche and Villero, Brunate and Lazzarito. The vineyards were acquired by Alfredo Currado in the 1960s. As one of the first Piedmontese Oenologist, the winemaker, who died in 2010, began producing single-vineyard wines in precisely those areas where tradition almost always prescribed Barolo and Barbaresco cuvées.
Continuous creation with a view to the future.
After four generations of the family had already produced wine, Mario Cordero joined the company in 1960 and the winery's real triumph began with him. The traditional methods of winemaking were combined with the use of modern technology, intelligent work in the vineyard and, above all, a rigorous selection of grapes. With intuition and foresight – from the production of one of the first Barolo Cru wines, Rocche di Castiglione in 1961, to the decision to be the first winery in Piedmont to produce a single-varietal Arneis as early as 1967 – Vietti's successful path into the future was paved.
Qualitative growth continued in 2016 with the sale of Vietti to the Krause family (USA). Some of the best cru sites in the Barolo and Barbaresco regions were acquired, opening up promising prospects for the future. In addition, vineyards were acquired in the Colli Tortonesi to produce wines from the Timorasso grape variety. Oenologist Eugenio Palumbo, who has been working for Vietti for over two decades, is still responsible for winemaking.
Among the grape varieties, it is not only Nebbiolo that stands out for the Barolos made from a balanced blend of old and new styles. The Barbera vines, which are also planted in the best locations and are just as long-lived, are also regularly found among the house's best wines. Whether "La Crena", "Tre Vigne", "Scarrone" or "Vigna Vecchia Scarrone" – in addition to the great Barolo wines, Vietti's Barberas also set standards in their respective price categories. But Dolcetto and the white varieties Arneis and Moscato do not lag behind the high standards of the wine world either. Incidentally, it is not least thanks to Vietti that the now famous white grape Arneis enjoys its current reputation and will certainly not be forgotten.
Safely into the next era.
The winery will continue to be run in the spirit of the long family tradition. Appreciation and focus on the terroir and careful, handcrafted work in the vineyard and cellar will take centre stage. The traditional methods of winemaking have been combined with the use of modern technology, intelligent work in the vineyard and, above all, a rigorous selection of grapes. This meticulous work results in exceptionally characterful, fruity wines with a firm body and great finesse. Every Vietti wine is the result of craftsmanship, a deep understanding and a conscientious interpretation of the individual vineyard. SUPERIORE.DE
