Barolo "Bricco delle Viole" DOCG 2015 <br>MAGNUM

Deep red cherry and plum notes with beautiful hints of classic floral notes and some rosewood. Bricco delle Viole 2015 is a progressive and fruit-driven Barolo from a single vineyard, which contours us well, but is by no means angular or bulky. On the palate it is sensual and engaging, its open, fruity-classic bouquet also gives it a delicious component that makes it irresistible. SUPERIORE.DE

"Seductive stone fruit blossom aromas; substantial on the palate. Fine-grained, perfectly integrated tannins, wine with a start full of character, becomes increasingly elegant with the aeration." Vinum

"Two months' maceration in tronconic steel tanks. Highest vineyard in Barolo up to 480 m. Seductive sweetness of red fruits with a note of olives. Dry tannic finesse with succulent fruit, much more juicy than I expected. Very young still but delicious with bite and persistence. Very fresh." Jancis Robinson

"Aldo Vajra's best-known Barolo comes from vineyards at an elevation of 400m to 480m, which may explain its elegance, together with Vajra's skill and experience over many decades. The nose is discreet but lifted, with aromas of raspberries, redcurrants and mint. The attack has splendid zest and good acidity, while the fine-grained tannins also contribute elegance. Textured, with a long and spicy finish. Vajra's Ravera bottling is equally fine." Decanter

"The flagship Barolo Bricco delle Viole is quite understated and gracious in 2015. Medium in body, with the persistent tannins that are so typical of this site, the 2015 is lithe, focused and full of energy. The warm vintage notwithstanding, in 2015, Vajra's Bricco delle Viole is distinctly sinewy and tense. It will offer considerable appeal to readers who find some of the other 2015 Barolos too open and giving in their youthful stage. Kirsch, rose petal, mint and chalky notes build into a finely cut finish. Time in the glass softens some of the youthful, austere contours, but this remains a 2015 Barolo that needs time in bottle to be at its very best." VINOUS

"Enticing aromas and flavors of plum, cherry, iron and menthol are folded harmoniously into the lush texture and broad tannins of this long and vibrant red, with licorice, mineral and tobacco elements lingering." Wine Spectator
